Problem activating FaceTime on unlocked iPhone 4
When I try to turn FaceTime on in Settings it keeps saying "username or password was incorrect. try again." even though I haven't entered either, I'm trying to turn it on to set it up. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Check Settings>FaceTime>On and Settings>General>Restrictions>FaceTime>ON. On the 4, 4S and 5 FaceTime is accessed through contacts. Go into your Contacts, access the contact you want to FaceTime with and you will see a tab at the bottom of their contact card. You can also access FaceTime by going into your Phone app, select dialling keypad, dial number, press call and an option for FaceTime on the keypad will appear.

and i mean the phone would have been activated in the first place with the sim card you get given when you first get the phone.
trying to activate the phone with another sim card that you did not get when you brought the phone may result in you not being able to activate it

I want to use my number instead of my Apple ID. It was working before until I turned my facetime off. Now when I turn it on the only logged in was the Apple ID not my phone number..

Activation and WI-FI Problems for new Factory Unlocked iphone 3GS
I live in Tanzania and just purchased an unlocked 3GS iphone directly from Apple. I have put in my SIM and it doesn't seem to work...the phone wants me to first to activate it, which requires a WI-FI network. I have tried to log into my home WI-FI network, however, unsuccessfully. I was prompted for a password to access my network, which I provided, however, then I need to provide a username and password to my internet provider...something the iphone doesn't allow me to do. So, two questions:
1) Can I by-pass activation and just use the iphone as the mobile phone I need it to be and;
2) If not, how can I complete my WI-FI log in if not provided the opportunity to do so?You should be able to activate the phone through iTunes, have you tried that?

My friend had this same issue and asked for my help since none of the other suggestions helped. I found that if go to safe mode and connect to wifi then try to activate FaceTime that might let you activate it. If that works you might have 3rd party software such as Sprigtomize (which I found was his issue) or other Mobile Substrate Addons so disable them through their options or using SBSettings to turn them off, then reboot, and try activation.

Waiting for activation Facetime and iMessage iPhone 5
I am unable to activate facetime and imessage on my iphone 5. ATT is my service provider, if that matters at all. I've tried reseting my network settings and updating "My Info" but still no bueno! Any other advice? Please help!

I am trying to activate FaceTime on iPad2, but after entering Apple I and password, I get error message "Could not sign in. Pleasecheck your network connection and try again." My wifi works for Mail and Safari and everything else. Does FT work in Canada? If so, any suggestions?

No, you have to have a sim card since it is a telephone...but you do not have to sue one with a contract if you canjust get hold of a working sim card.

HT5622 Since I have updated my iPad ios7,I am having problems activating my FaceTime
I have recently updated my iPad ios7,but having problems activating FaceTime.
No one should have to reset network settings, I have the same issue and I have a celluar package, it's slow using either one--but my IMac is running just fine so don't blame the network--blame the testers and my Internet speed is grease lightning so that's not it either--too many issues, like Facebook randomly disappearing while open, choppy animation, slow to load programs.
It's too **** bad they made it so you cannot roll back to IOS6 until these bugs are worked out--shoulda waited. Shoulda, coulda, woulda..not helping me now AND my friend bought his mini the same time I did in April and we are not even in the same city and he has the same exact problems!! -

I am living in uk at the moment and i have an unlocked iphone 4s. Each time i put a new sim in it a message appears saying ''Activation Required''. When i slide the unlock bar it asks to choose a wifi network or a mobile data network. So far this hasnt been a problem coz i always found a wifi network around me or the mobile data network worked fine. Now the problem is I am moving back to my country Bangladesh in couple of days. And back there wifi isnt a very available thingie. And mobile data network is very hard to connect. So if i put on a Bangladeshi mobile service sim in my phone how do i activate it without the wifi or mobile data network? Please some help asap would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the rant up there.. Thanks for your quick response. I couldn't get to an Apple store and can't order anything from the States that contains Lithium ION batteries -- no U.S. Postal Services will deliver these to us anymore. Target sold this to me as an unactivated Sprint phone. I never activated it through Sprint in the States and just took it to Germany with me. I updated to vs.6.0 via ITunes and without the Sprint SIM Card installed. The IPhone is now accessible (Apps, Settings, etc., to be able to check firmware, et al., settings. However, I can't tell if it's unlocked (since I upgraded the version without the Sprint SIM Card installed) until I go to the local cell phone shop and stuff in a BASE (provider) SIM card and test it out. Is there a way to tell whether or not the phone is unlocked without a SIM card in it? I don't think there is.... -
