Problem adding members to a contact group in a public folder with EWS

I am trying to create contacts and contact groups in a public folder on Exchange 2013 using EWS 2.1 managed API.
In Outlook 2013, I can see the contacts and groups created. However, when I open the group and try to open a contact from the group, I get the following error:
    Could not find contact "john doe ([email protected]". It may have been deleted or moved from its original location.
    Would you like to remove it from the list?
I tried different methods to add the contact members to the groups, all with the same result.
If I manually add the contact to the group, or if I create the contacts and groups in a private folder, it works fine.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Are the contacts you added to the group in your contacts? If the shared contacts folder is not in your profile and enabled as an address book, you can't add their contacts to a group. (The mailbox needs to be opened as a mailbox for the contacts folder
to be enabled as an address book. )

  • If you cannot sync contacts this might be the problem...too many contact groups

    I have a Centro and MAC book and was trying to use ISync and then Missing Sync to sync data. In both programs the contacts would not sync but all else did just fine. I have many contacts but did not need all of them on my phone so I organized them into groups in the address book, with one group being a list of the current contacts I wanted on my phone. With MissingSync the program will only sync a certain number of groups, although I had more than that number I didn't think it mattered because I was only trying to sync the one group. It matters. Even though in the Missing Sync conduit setting the group was listed and I only checked that group off to sync - nothing would sync.
    The solution was to save a back up of my address book and then delete all my contact groups except the one I wanted to sync. POOF! It worked. I am not sure exactly how many groups would work but if the priority is to get a certain number of contacts, not all, on your phone and you have a lot of groups, maybe this strategy will work for you. If you are using ISync, since the problem was the same for both programs, maybe this would also be the solution in ISync.
    What led to this ah-ha moment was a forum moderator at MissingSync suggesting I create another user on my computer with administrative capability, create a few test contacts and then try to sync. This did work, the contacts did sync.
    I hope this may be of help to someone and possibly save you a lot of time.  Good luck!

    Thank you for the information

  • Why can't I display members of a contact group on my iPhone with IOS 6

    Just discovered that I cannot display members of a group on my iPhone 4s running IOS 6.
    When I tap on a group, I just get a check mark or erase the check mark by the group.  The group will not expand to display the members of that group.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    JUST FOUND THE ANSWER!
    You have to de-select the All Contacts group (get rid of the check mark), select the group you want to display (check mark shows), then tap done and the group selected will display.
    Not the most intuitive procedure, but it works?

    This works. Simple but like you say not intuitive. Where is the manual on this.

  • Problem adding elements to a group after removing everything...

    Hi everyone,
    I would really appreciate some help on something. I have a Group that has some Buttons in it. This Group is in one of fours States, and there is a componant for each State. After the user goes through the rest of the program and comes back to this State, I want to remove the old buttons, and add new buttons with new values. Bascially, I want to refresh the componant when it is visited a second time. I have a problem adding new Buttons to the group when the user revisits the componant / state.
    The group is created:
              <s:VGroup id="buttons"  x="0" y="35"  height="400" width="280" />
    When the init function for that componant is called, buttons are added from an array of buttons:
    for(var i:int = 0; i < 10; i++){
              var button:Button = questions[i];
              trace(button);
              button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, myEventHandler);
              trace(buttons);
              buttons.addElement(button);
    When the user moves on to the next State, the buttons are removed:
    if(counter == 4){
              buttons.removeAllElements();
              FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.currentState = 'Summary';
    When the user comes back to the initial state, the buttons are not added to the Group like they are the first time. The output of the trace as each button is added is also different the second time:
    First time: (successful)
    Main.MainBackground2.contentGroup.gameComp.buttons
    button8
    Second time:
    buttons
    button8
    Can anyone point me in the right direction? And better question, is there a better way I should be doing this?
    Is there a better way to refresh everything within a component upon viewing it s second time?
    Thanks in advance!

    I'm not sure why you are using addElement() to add the buttons. Aren't you supposed to let the state functionality handle when the buttons should be visible? That's the cleanest way to do it in most cases. You may want to post a larger code sample, where you have boiled down the code into a minimal sample that still enhibits the issue.

  • How do I use a Contact Group email address as the sender of an email?

    I want members of the contact group to be able to manual select the contact group email address as the SENDER.  This, primarily, so that recipient clients can respond, if necessary, by merely pressing reply (then the entire group gets the email).
    Possible?

    By "contact group" do you mean a distribution group?  If so, you need to use one of the following the shell commands:
    For Send on Behalf:   Set-DistributionGroup <group alias> -GrantSendOnBahalfTo <useralias>
    For Send As:              Add-AdPermission<group ID>-User<user alias>-ExtendedRights'Send-As'

  • Ability to email contact group has stopped

    Hi
    I have a number of Contact Groups which I set up on my Macbook Pro that sync to my iPhone 3G via MobileMe
    I've never had any problem emailing any of these contact groups. Just start typing the contact group name into the "to" field in Mail and it autofills.
    Today however that seems to have gone toes up. If I type in the first few letters of my contact group, nothing happens. I just get those letters. If I type the complete group name in - nothing.
    Typing in an "ordinary" contact in any shape or form autofills (or at least offers me the options) as usual.
    Has anyone any idea what's going on or how to resolve this?
    Thanks

  • Can I make a paper group address list from a Contacts group list?

    I can't find a way to do this now. It used to be a simple thing -- with the aid of  a third party app--  to print all pertinent info for members of a Contact group in an compact list.
    Anyone know how to do this, or how to post such info into the Cloud?
    TIA

    From Contacts help:
    Print information
    Select one or more contacts or a group. If contacts in a group have multiple email addresses, street addresses, or phone numbers, you can choose which to use.  Select addresses for group members  Choose File > Print. Choose the print style from the Style pop-up menu, and then set related options. If you don’t see the Style pop-up menu, click Show Details.  Mailing labels: Click Layout and choose a label type from the Page pop-up menu. To set page margins and gutter space between labels, and how many labels to print per page, choose Define Custom. Click Label and choose the address to print from the Addresses pop-up menu (for example, print a label for each contact’s home address). Use other Label options to specify the print order, include a company for business mailings or a country for international mailings, or add a graphic.  Envelopes: Click Layout and choose the envelope type from the Layout pop-up menu. If you’re using a non-standard envelope size, choose Define Custom, and then enter the dimensions. Click Label and specify whether to include your return address. Choose the contact address to print from the Addresses pop-up menu (for example, print a label for each contact’s home address). Use other Label options to choose the print order, include a company for business mailings or a country for international mailings, or to add a graphic to the envelopes.  To choose the direction in which to feed the envelopes into the printer, click Orientation.  Lists: Select the paper size and orientation, and then use the Attributes list to select which fields to include. Pocket Address Book: Select the paper size and orientation, and then use the Attributes list to select which fields to include. Choose between the indexed and compact formats using the Flip Style option. Show Tips for printing a pocket book
    I haven't tried it because I don't use groups. I hope this helps.

  • Problems with Search in Contacts (Public folder favourite)

    Office Version:Office 2010Operating System:Windows 7
    I am running Outlook 2010, connecting to an SBS2003 server by HTTP and running in Cached mode.
    My business contacts are stored in a Public Folder, and my personal contacts in my local Contacts folder.
    The Public Folder is in my Favourites, and is designated an 'Outlook Address Book'
    'Download Public Folder Favourites' is enabled in the Exchange Mail Account settings
    I am having problems with Search (which was never a problem in Outlook 2007).
    If I select the Contacts shortcut, under 'My Contacts I have listed in order:
    Suggested Contacts
    Office Contacts (this is my public folder favourite)
    Contacts
    Search Results
    If I select the Office Contacts link, and attempt to search for a contact whose contact card I can actually see on the screen, the search will fail. The scope is defaulting to 'All Contact Items' (which is fine), but if I change this to 'Current Folder'
    then the contact is immediately found.
    In OL2007 I could search for a contact, even when not in a contact folder, and it would find every instance of it immediately.
    Any ideas here? I have been told to rebuild my index, which I will do over the weekend as it will take some time. But I have doubts it will make much difference. This is a new machine with a fresh installation of Win7 x64 and Office 2010.
    thanks

    Keith, I have this same issue here.  I looked on the Small Business Server pages for an answer as suggested by Xiu but could not find any.  I'm not sure why this would be a SBS issue as we are not running SBS and have this issue.
    For some reason, "All Contact Items" doesn't include the current folder if it is a public folder.
    Did you ever get an answer/solution?

  • Public Folder permissions to groups not working

    Hello Together,
    I have some problems with permission of Exchange 2010 (SP2) public folders. Although I can't find an TechNet article which describes the procedure to add a group to a public Folder client permission list, it should be possible because the
    Add-PublicFolderClientPermission cmd-let will accept Users and groups as parameter for -user.
    But if I give permissions to groups the members of the Groups can't access the public folders.
    What I exactly do is this:
    - Create a Distribution Group for example TEST (Universal Distribution Group)
    - Add User "Testuser" to this Group
    - Add public folder Clientpermissions to the Group "Test" which autmatically changes the group type to Universal Security Group (there is no difference if I do this with the GUI or management shell)
    Result: No Access for User "Testuser"
    If I add the User directly to the Public folder he can acces the folder.
    I can reproduce this problem in my test- and my Productionenvironment.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards

    Hi Martina,
    thank you for your very fast answer, but this was exactly what I had done ...
    But Today, if I tried to access the Public Folder again everything works as expected, so I tried to find out why I have to wait so long until the expected permissions work and now I think I have found the reason:
    - Exchange 2010 uses Universal Groups for Distribution and Security Groups
    - Universal Groups are the only Grouptypes which saves the member list at the Global Catalog server
    - the default Global Catalog Caching interval is 1440 Minutes (24 hours)
    So if you change membership of universal Groups you have to wait 24 hours until Exchange recognizes this change!
    If you want to force this you can do one of the following steps:
    - reduce the "Cached Membership Refresh Interval (minutes)"
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/how-global-catalog-servers-work(v=ws.10).aspx
    - Use the following VB-Script:
    set objRoot = GetObject("LDAP://rootDSE")
    objRoot.Put "UpdateCachedMemberships", 1
    objRoot.SetInfo
    msgbox "Universal Group Cache refreshed!"
    This forces the Group members to refresh immediatly.
    I think I am not the only person who had this problem so I hope I can help others with this solution ...
    Best regards and thx

  • Outlook save/update error with Exchange 2013 public folder used as Contact Items

    Hello Everybody.
    This problem is driving me crazy.
    In Exchange 2013 i have created a public folder with several subfolders used as Contact Items.
    I've reviewed all settings several times and all is ok.
    Outlook 2010/2013 users several times receive the message:
    "The item cannot be saved to this folder. The folder was deleted or moved, or you do not have permission. Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item?"
    when try save an existing contact after modification.
    I can assure you that user permissions, server configurations are ok; please, help me.

    Did you make the subfolder the correct type, i.e., a contacts-type folder?

  • Importing contacts into Public Folder email contact list under the folder

    I am able to create a public folder and add a blank contacts list
    1. How to do I import external contacts into the public folders contact list?
    * I imported all external contacts via CSV into the GAL and then manually added all of them to my contacts list. I then moved them form my contacts to the public folders contact list.
    There has to be a easier way.
    2. How come I can't show the public folders contact list in Favorites? I can see the public folder but not the contacts list in that public folder even after I add it to my favorites.

    Hi,
    You may export the contacts from the Personal contact folder and then import it to the Public folder.
    The following article for your reference:
    Export contacts
    You can export contacts to a file that can then be imported into other applications, such as Web mail clients, Excel spreadsheets, or database applications.The most common export file format is a comma separated value (CSV) file.
    Import contacts
    Contacts can be imported into Outlook from other applications or from exported Outlook contacts. These instructions assume that you have already exported the contacts from the other application, such as a Web client, Excel spreadsheet, or database application.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problem with public folder initialization on exchange load generator 2010

    hi,
    we need to make some stress charge for a migration between 2010 and 2013. Before that we need to populate our exchange 2010 lab with full mailbox and public folders. So we tried Exchange load generator 2010 for this task ( initialization only).
    Loadgen did well for the mailbox but we have some problems with the public folders. we have an empty public folder database and the user we run loadgen with has organization admin and public folder management right. the problem is that when we run this command
    (for initializing public folder only, mailbox's done) :
    loadgencmd.exe /p /c config.xml /add trace.log
    IT create only one public folder with the user we run loadgen with, and 5-8 objects inside. We need that It create a public folder for each users it created before. Maybe we do not understand loadgen
    correctly...

    I found my solution :
    customize the <PublicStoreProfile> section in the configuration file as follows:
     <PublicStoreProfile>
        <MessageFiles />
        <TopLevelFolderCount>1</TopLevelFolderCount>
        <NonTopLevelFolderCount>1</NonTopLevelFolderCount>
        <MinimumFolderDepth>1</MinimumFolderDepth>
        <AverageFolderDepth>2</AverageFolderDepth>
        <MaximumFolderDepth>3</MaximumFolderDepth>
        <MinimumMessageCount>5</MinimumMessageCount>
        <AverageMessageCount>10</AverageMessageCount>
        <MaximumMessageCount>15</MaximumMessageCount>
        <UseOrdinalFolderName>false</UseOrdinalFolderName>
      </PublicStoreProfile>
    Simply put differents values for each variables.

  • Force iPhone to put newly added contacts under iPhone contact group

    I want to be able to have my iphone put a newly added contact under my iphone contacts and not all contacts. Is there a way to force iphone to do this? I am using mobile me, think I remember hearing someone mention a setting in itunes for this. Don't have this option with mobile me.
    Thanks,
    Toby

    I agree with Oregon Farmer. All Contacts contain all contacts from every created group (i.e. "iPhone contacts"), so once you add a contact into "iPhone Contacts", the same info is placed in the "All Contacts" group. Sort of like "Music" in library and playlists.
    There used to be an option on the iTunes, but from this website, it suggests that option was for the original iPhone http://www.apple.com/mobileme/setup/iphone/mac.html
    I was browsing around looking for a way to add a new contact (i.e. from my recent calls list) directly into the "iPhone Contacts", rather than it going automatically only into the "All Contacts" list. If anyone has an idea, I'd appreciate it. I'm also using Mobileme.

  • Outlook contact groups problem in iTunes v11

    How can i find the Info Tab in iTunes v11?
    And my main problem is; how can i select the desired contact groups in Outlook Contacts which the sync with my iPhone 4S with iOS 6.0.1.

    Hi,
    I would like to create two folders - one for me and one for my wife. So under 'My Contacts' in Outlook 2010 it looks like this:
    Suggested contacts
    Contacts
    Suggested contacts (email address)
    Simon's contacts
    Julie's contacts
    iTunes has picked up these sub-folders - THANKS!
    However, I would like to keep the 'Contacts' folder with all the contacts in and only copy selected contacts from there and place them into my wife's folder and mine. The 'copy' function does not seem to work.
    Obviously my contacts are different to my wife's and she does not want hundreds of names on her contact list.
    So, basically how do I copy contacts without moving them out of the contacts folder and manually typing them all back in my wife's folder (some contacts we both need)?
    Hope you can help on this one.
    Many thanks,
    Simon

  • Group Policy Preference: Problem Adding Network Locations

    Group Policy Preferences (GPP) do not currently support correctly creating shortcuts in Network Locations/My Network Places the way Windows produces them when you go through the "Add a network location" wizard. Unfortunately, the GPP simply creates a standard shortcut instead of creating a folder that contains target.lnk and desktop.ini (the way the "Add a network location" wizard does).
    I was curious to know when the GPP engine will be updated to correctly add Network Locations the way the "Add a network location" wizard does?
    Thanks.

    Talfr77,
    I would like to know what environment you tried this under.  I made policy like you described on a 2012 domain controller and the resulting shortcut worked fine on windows 8 clients and on the 2012 servers.
     However, the 2008 servers and windows 7 clients didn't work.  They simply got a folder with two files.   It would appear that the format of the target.lnk file may be different between versions of windows.  I took a target.lnk from a
    working shortcut made on a 2008 server and put in on a 2012 server and the result was it not recognizing the shortcut.
    It is also worth noting for anyone who wants to try this method, that in step 2 of Talfr77's directions he says to copy the desktop.ini file using the GPP file copy function to the subfolder with the target.lnk file.  He didn't mention how to accomplish
    that.   You can store the desktop.ini file anywhere on your network as long as the UNC path to it is accessible to the user.  I suggest you store it right in a subfolder of the GPO in the sysvol to keep things tidy.  So that UNC would be the
    source path. (example would be \\domain.local\SYSVOL\domain.LOCAL\Policies\{020DBAF4-2631-4246-8811-DE02F7613959}\desktop.ini) The destination path will be %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\<Subfolder name>\desktop.ini
    The same goes for his step 3 where you edit the folder attributes.  The folder you want to edit is %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\<Subfolder name>
