  • Cisco 2960x - auto qos voip cisco-phone on access ports

After configuring "auto qos voip cisco-phone" on a stack of 2960x switches, we later noticed that after a power cycle (config was saved first) it went missing when doing a "show run" from the interface configs, on one of the switches (g1/0/1-48 had it applied, then after power cycle it didn't show).  However, doing a "show auto qos interface" shows it is still applied to all interfaces g10/1-48.
I try to do "auto qos voip cisco-phone" again on g1/0/1-48, and it shows this:
    SwitchStack01(config-if-range)#auto qos voip cisco-phone
    AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS already configured
% Range command terminated because it failed on GigabitEthernet1/0/1
If I attempt to remove "auto qos voip cisco-phone", it shows this:
    SwitchStack01(config-if-range)#no auto qos voip cisco-phone
    AutoQoS Error: AutoQoS not configured
% Range command terminated because it failed on GigabitEthernet1/0/1
When I do a "show run", it is no longer displayed for the first switch of the stack. So is it still applied to the interfaces or not?   Is this a bug?  Has anyone else experienced this?  This has happened to at least a couple stacks of 2960x's we have.
    Thanks!

It appears to be a bug in the code.  Open a TAC ticket with Cisco and send them the output and the IOS version you are using so they can help you resolve the issue.   Most likely, they recommend an upgrade.

  • 3850 - auto qos voip cisco-phone

I am having an issue where it appears that the "auto qos voip cisco-phone" command is marking down my voice packets COS and DSCP values to 0.  Anyone else notice this?  I am connecting Cisco 7945 phone to the interfaces with this command applied to the interface.  I verified that the IP Phone is sending COS = 5 and DSCP = ef to the switchport.  I verified the packets inbound to the switchport and the packets outbound as they transit to the destination IP Phone's switchport.

    Hi joshua,
What is the IOS-XE version you are running on your 3850 ?
Post your switchport configuration (7945 phone connected)
Here is 3.3 QoS config guide & I noticed it says something like below qouted. So make sure this trust device command is there & your port is configured for standard VoIP port connectivity.(like voice vlan, etc)
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3850/software/release/3se/consolidated_guide/configuration_guide/b_consolidated_3850_3se_cg/b_consolidated_3850_3se_cg_chapter_01101000.html#reference_8A1C35AB2874498F90C4F5600301BE9D
"The trust device device_type interface configuration command is only supported in an auto-QoS configuration, and not as a stand-alone command on the switch. When using the trust device device_type interface configuration command in an auto-QoS configuration, if the connected peer device is not a corresponding device (defined as a device matching your trust policy), both CoS and DSCP values are set to "0" and any input policy will not take effect"

  • Auto QoS Voip Trust question

    Hello,
I am a little confused on the auto qos voip trust command. I am reading that it should be used on interior switchports like trunk ports connected to another switch. I guess my question is this: If the auto qos voip command tells the switchport to trust the incoming CoS values, then isnt it redundant to tell the port to "trust" the incoming CoS value when the auto qos voip command is already accomplishing this? Or does this have something to do with trusting DSCP values instead of CoS values? If so, why are we trusting DSCP values at the uplinks and not CoS values coming from the IP Phone? Im so confused. Thanks for any light you can shed on this topic.
    Chris.

    Chris
Yes, the trust value used for "auto qos voip trust" depends on the operation of the port as you say.
And yes when you use the "cisco-phone" option it will trust the values but as you say only if it detects a Cisco IP phone and it does this by using CDP.
What is not entirely clear, at least to me, is exactly which markings the "cisco-phone" option trusts. There seems to be conflicting information but the configuration guide talk about DSCP markings so it may be those but i can't say for sure as i have limited experience in that area.

  • Question about "Auto Qos Voip Trust" on 3560X

    Hi,
I applied command "auto qos voip trust" to the uplink interface.
But I found that the interface shown command "auto qos trust" was applied when i show running-config.
Could the command "auto qos voip trust" show in the configuration after i applied?
If not, how can i check the interface that applied "auto qos voip trust"? Thanks!
    James Lai

    No.
After i aplied "auto qos voip trust" to the interface Gi1/1
When i show running-config, that shown asa below:
    interface GigabitEthernet1/1
    srr-queue bandwidth share 1 30 35 5
    priority-queue out
    mls qos trust cos
    auto qos trust
I found that the interface configured as auto qos trust but not auto qos voip trust.
Is the command "auto qos voip trust" no applied to the interface Gi1/1?
How can i apply auto qos voip trust to the interface? Thanks!

  • Auto qos voip trust is not supprting my cisco router1800

    Please some one help me..
    when i am applying
    Router(config)# interface FastEthernet0/0
    Router(config-if)# auto qos voip trust
    it is giving this message
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
thats mean i can't apply auto qos voip trust  command .. why is it so ??

    Hello.
auto qos requires smart L2 interfaces.
In your case, I assume, it's the L3 interface.

  • AVC or Advanced QoS on the 5760 platform

This is more of a question about QoS where my knowledge is still limited. Which is why I am looking for some pointers to what the benefits of the advanced QoS on the 5760 have over AVC? Performance and UWN architecture of the 5760 set aside AVC can mark a application specific packet with a DSCP value which can be trusted from the wlc LAG ports. Afterwards you can apply policing and shaping as well.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

In the current IOS-XE 3.3.2 version it is only Application Visibility & NO CONTROL. In CA, this AVC feature happening at the AP level & due to this only 2600/2700,3600,3700 AP supporting this feature. See below post for some configuration detail of AVC in 5760.
    http://mrncciew.com/2013/12/17/configuring-avc-on-a-5760/
In fact 5760 designed for MC in a large scale deployment where 3850/3650 (MA) terminating all capwap traffic. So you can apply same wired QoS policy to your wireless. This post should give some indication on this.

  • Problem with QOS for SIP on RV082

    Hello,
I have problem with quality of VOIP call with Linskys RV082.  Firmware is 2.0.0.19tm.
Router is configured as dual-wan , one port (WAN2) is for ADSL 8000/512kb and other one is (WAN1) SHDSL 8000/8000kb.
VOIP traffic from certain IP of LAN is routed to WAN2 (through protocol binding). We have quaranted QOS on ADSL by ISP.
Problem is that voice is dropping when we load WAN2 with other data  connection.  Last week i reload new firmware, restore default factory and configured router whole again. All was ok only for 1 day and then voice was dropping again.  I mean that problem is at mark packets, because when I put VOIP PBX in front of behind router , QOS is working fine.
Can you help me? Is this know issue?
    Thanks.

below is the show output :
    ciscoasa# show priority-queue statistics outside_wan
    Priority-Queue Statistics interface outside_wan
    Queue Type = BE
    Tail Drops = 0
    Reset Drops = 0
    Packets Transmit = 7971924
    Packets Enqueued = 0
    Current Q Length = 0
    Max Q Length = 0
    Queue Type = LLQ
    Tail Drops = 0
    Reset Drops = 0
    Packets Transmit = 189321
    Packets Enqueued = 0
    Current Q Length = 0
    Max Q Length = 0

so does the command look like, the one I should use instead of priority-queue outside_wan ??

  • QOS - VOIP traffic: payload and signalling

    Two questions For VOIP traffic,
Q.1. should the payload and signalling be assigned the same COS ?? to avoid losing Signalling traffic.
Q.2. flash upgrades to the phone sets are tftp. Should this traffic be assigned COS=0 or the same cos as the signalling traffic ? Phone flash gets corrupted if some of these packets are lost ?
    thanks for your help,

    Hello,
best practice puts signaling into another class than voip "payload" as you named it.
The reason is that the qos requirements are different. Signaling needs guaranteed bandwidth, voip needs low delay and guaranteed bandwidth.
TFTP can be placed into signaling class or in a separate class.
An example config could look like this:
    ip cef
    class-map match-any VoIP
    match ip dscp ef cs5
    match protocol rtp audio
    class-map match-any VoIPsignal
    match ip dscp cs3
    class-map match-all TFTP
    match protocol tftp
    policy-map VoIPprio
    class VoIP
    priority percent 10
    class VoIPsignal
    bandwidth remaining percent 5
    class TFTP
    bandwidth remaining percent 5
    class class-default
    fair-queue
    random-detect
    interface Serial0
    ip address ...
    service-policy output VoIPprio
You would have to adjust the bandwith ratios for your needs and the interface naming to your environment.
The policy will give 10% of the link to voip traffic with lowest possible delay, 5% of the rest for voip signaling, 5% to TFTP and the rest for the other data present.
    Hope this helps

  • Auto qos voip cisco-phone

    Hello,
I am very new to voip, second day.  I have configured a 3850 stack to trust cisco phones on the switchports with the auto qos feature. I am interested to know where else I have to apply qos for the policy's to apply. The 3850 stack is uplinked to a 4500x "core". My question is once the qos is applied at the switch port, is everything just grand and my qos will work or does it have to be applied elsewhere.
    Thank you.
    Dallas

It has to be applied all throughout your network. Ie Core switch, access layer, uplinks to voice servers/gateways and access ports to phones. If you have wireless phones, those will have to be considered as well.

  • Problems with QoS between 2950 and 3550 with use of Native VLAN

    Hi!
I try to set up QoS between a C2950 and a C3550, I have provided a drawing that might help understanding the setup.
As I understand it, since I only have the SMI image on the C2950 I have to run a 802.1Q trunk over the leased 2Mb line to get QoS to work. And I DO get it to work, or at least it seems so to me.
What I'm trying to setup QoS on is between a Nortel Succession Media Server and a Nortel i2004 IP Phone.
And when I sniff the port that the Succession Media Server is connected to, I get this output:
    *BEGIN*

    But, then to the problem:
Since the modems I use have ip adresses in them I want to monitor them and be able to change settings in them.
But to connect to units within the trunk, I have to set the native vlan to VLAN 144, which provides the ip adresses I use for the modems, in both ends of the trunk.
But if I do that the tagging of the packets from the IP Phone disappears!
Here's an output after native VLAN is applied:
    *BEGIN*

See, there is noe QoS tagging from the IP Phone anymore.
If I set no switchport trunk native vlan 144 in both ends the tagging is back.
Any ideas? Is this a bug, or just some command I don't know about?
Please take a look at the picture to get a more understandable view of the setup.
    Thanks!

Well, native VLANs are by definition untagged so there´s nothing wrong with that as far as you are getting the expected results. By the other way I think you should include VLAN 402 on your allowed vlan range on Catalyst 3550's FastEth0/45 trunk port, otherwise this VLAN will be completly isolated from the rest of the network.

  • UCS QoS, VoIP applications and upstream switch

    Hi,
    We have followings:
    Chassis 5108
    FI 6248
    FEX 2208
Adapter VIC(1240), 2 vNIC for VMData (VoIP applications), a few others vNIC for mgmt, vmotion etc.
    ESXi 5.1
    CUCM, Unity, etc
For example, CUCM and Unity marked VoIP media as CoS 5 and signaling as 3.
Will FI overwrite all markings to CoS 5 if VMData vNIC QoS policy is created as platinum with host control FULL (see picture)?
In other words, will the upstream switch see the same QoS markings from VoIP applications?
