Problem after CMOS clearing

hi,
I have MSI K7turbo2 MOBO.  I wanted to clear my CMOS to revert to the default BIOS. (Because when I was underclocking my CPU to x9 instead of x11, I had no post)
And now I have a bigger problem, after clearing the CMOS MOBO gets no power at all, no sound, no beep, no fan spin not at all. What has gone wrong? I have checked the support of MSI. I have tried to take off the battery and replaced back after several minutes. But I had no signal.
Is my board dead???

thank you Osnavi for your attention, I have tried all but it didn't work either.
But I solved my problem after reading this from
http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp#1_1
I disconnected power from other devices such as drives, case fans, etc. It was only attached to the Mainboard and CPU.
First the PSU switch didn't react, but the case switch reanimated the MOBO. :hypecrite: Afterwards the PSU switch worked properly too.
So if somebody has the same problem I hope this might help.
greetings

  • Computer Starting, but no display/keyboard/mouse, but work after CMOS clear

I have an MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard, intel i5-3570K CPU, 16 GB of ram, a Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 GPU, XFX PRO650W Core Edition PSU, and am using a 550 VA UPS.
My computer powers up with no posts, all CPU indicator lights are lit, and the display, mouse, and keyboard get no signal, but when I read some posts about solving this problem I cleared my CMOS with the button on the back, and when the computer powers back up signal is sent to my monitor, mouse and keyboard, but upon continuing or running setup the previous behavior continues.
    Help would be appreciated!

I ain't really be able to help you. The only two things i could think of are an empty battery or a faulty board. But for that matter wait for others to answer your post.
But what you are describing sounds like what i experienced five years ago, when i set up a new system with a MSI P35 Neo3-F. I fortunatly bought board, cpu and RAM from the same vendor. Same as you i had to reset CMOS in order to do anything useful with that computer. I think i had to reset everytime i turned on the pc, but not for reboots. Althoug i'm not sure about that.
Besides that i had occasional failures in Windows which is why i did run MemTest86+ from CD. I got some faulty memory addresses in that run and thought the RAM were to blame, but in further passes of memtest i got different addresses. This i mailed to the vendor and i told him, that i'd had no means of figuring out, if the board, the cpu or the RAM was faulty. They told me to send in those three to figure it out themselfs and to give a replacement for the broken one, which turned out to be the mainboard.
After that i still got failures - can't remember what failures - and could make out that the cpu wasn't working correctly. I still believe the broken board did some damage to the cpu sometime i tried to start the PC without resetting the CMOS while maybe having random values in CMOS.
I cannot say that this is fact, but for the vendor it was reasonable enough to also replace the cpu and since then i'm quite cautious when it's about a board that might be trying with random CMOS content.
I don't want to frighten you. I just want to say don't try to much without resetting the CMOS as long as it needs to be resetted all the time.
At least til someone can ensure, that my interpretation of my experience must be wrong.
    Greetings,
      Micha.

  • Problem after CMOS reset K8T NEO FIS2R

    Hi,
After messing around with my memory timings, I could no longer boot my system, so I decided to reset my CMOS using the jumper.  After doing so, my system gets stuck at the SATA drives not detected BIOS not installed screen, and I can no longer access the BIOS.  I'm fairly sure that the BIOS not installed message is in reerence to the SATA controller and not the main BIOS itself.  I have tried reseting the BIOS a couple of more times with no different results.  My D-Bracket reads red LED in location 1, green LEDS in 2, 3 and 4.
    System:
    Athlon 64 3000+
    K8T NEO FIS2R
    Radeon 9700 pro
    Audigy 2 ZS
    400W PSU
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    Thanks

    Hi
Try removing the Ram sticks when resetting Bios, remeber to earth yourself first, also remove power cable, and leave for a couple of minse, to allow all chips to discharge, then replace mem sticks, the cmos jumper and the power cable. Try to get into bios at start to reset the timings you have changed.  If still having a prob, use Ctrl + Home as you boot, holding them down will initialise the bios. You will have to reset the bios settings.
Failing that you will need to use a recovery floppy.
    Good luck

  • Lower Benchmarks after cmos clear?

Had a bit of a situation when an overclock went wrong so I reset the bios. I set everything up as I thought it should be but now 3dmark 2001 has dropped by 1000 and sandra 2003 bencharks my processor at less than a 2200+. The processor is recognised as running at 2000mhz (2400+) so whats the problem? The fsb is at 133 before you suggest that!
    Athlon 2440+
    MSI 6712 KT$V
    1gig 2700
    gf4 4200ti 8x
    bla bla bla

CPU temps are fine, 49 under load and around 46 idle. I had just fitted a new heatsink (zalman flower) but its run fine for a week and is stable just not fast. I loaded performance defaults, it speeded up the memory changed the fsb and multiplier but the benchmarks didnt change. I have changed my fans though, could that be putting my PSU understrain, its a 250w which I know is low but it was running fine before?

  • Problem after Neo2 LiveUpdate to BIOS 1.B - need help

    Hi there.
after updating my Neo2 Platinum mobo to BIOS 1.B with LiveUpdate I got a problem which I cannot resolve.
    Here are the symptoms:
    1. Updated BIOS to 1.B with Live update. In the end got the meesage that BIOS was updated successfuly.
    2. In case of 'cold' start I can enter into BIOS menu.
    3. If I restart PC and hit <DEL>, I am getting only grey cursor blinking in the top left corner of monitor. After switching power off and having 'cold' start entering to  BIOS menu with no problem.
    4. If I exit from BIOS menu and on the PC restart immediately hit <DEL> - I can reach BIOS menu again. If I let Windows start and then do restart - BIOS menu is not available for me (with blinking cursor) -> Power OFF required to enter BIOS again.
    5. I tried to rollback BIOS to version 1.9 I used previously and got an issue here regadless if I used options from the top or simply supply bios file anme in command line
    C:>AWFL859G.EXE W7025NMS.1B0
    C:>AWFL833D.EXE w7025nms.190
My PC just hung and keyboard was locked out.
The only one difference I saw - in case of AWFL833D.EXE I got continuous beep sound with message "Please wait!!!". With AWFL859G.EXE PC hung and program displayed the message "Enter file name".
The reason of BIOS update was because of the PC stability. Pretty frequent it hung with red line on the top of screen....
    6. No difference after CMOS clearing.
Any suggestions of how to recover from this situation are very welcome.
    Thank you.

Try using a ps2 keyboard to enter brios.  Also use ps2 keyboard when you reflash.  It is possible that flashing a messed up bios (caused by liveupdate) requires yet an other correct flash to solve the problem.  Use floppy method with the command line switches described in the thread below to reset cmos etc. AND FOLLOWING SYAR'S INSTRUCTIONS about rebooting etc.

"DOS floppy flash shall be performed with :
    awfl833d.exe w7030nms.180 /py /sn /wb /cc /cd /cp /f /e
(Replace biosfilename with appropriate version for Neo1/neo2 etc , switches remain the same )
    After flash is complete :
TURN OFF PSU (don't restart) wait 15 seconds
Turn on again , press the power button .
Enter BIOS and load optimized defaults (NO OTHER CHANGES) , save + exit
Boot the system again with the floppy in the drive to let the DMI pool build and update itself"
Post back and let us know if it works this time.  Good luck.
EDIT- If the above does not work, consider modded bios as described here:

  • Computer problems after upgrading to Mavericks

SO many problems. I cleared out a ton of old stuff that I saw might be causing problems, and I've verified and repaired the disc, and uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of programs that I was seeing problems with in the console, but now I'm just flummoxed. It's behaving better than it was earlier, and isn't giving me the beach ball nearly so often, but it still seems like it's taking too long for a lot of things. I just reinstalled Avast and am currently letting a game update through Steam. I have the console and the activity monitor open to one side. Since I opened the console, it's been spitting out one or two messages every second, and all I can find through some internet searching is that it's something to do with the wireless connection. There's some other stuff periodically mixed in that doesn't sound good either, involving either sandboxd or mdworker. But for the most part it's along these lines:

    I just reinstalled Avast
"Avast" is perhaps the worst of the whole wretched lot of commercial "security" products for the Mac. It's worse than the imaginary "viruses" you were worried about when you installed it. Not only does it fail to protect you, it throws false warnings, destabilizes and slows down your computer, and sometimes or always corrupts the network settings and the permissions of files in your home folder. Removing it may not repair all the damage, and neither will Disk Utility or even reinstalling OS X.
Back up all data, then remove "Avast" according to the developer's instructions. Reboot.
If you tried to remove Avast by dragging an application to the Trash, you'll have to reinstall it and follow the instructions linked above.
If you still have problems after following those instructions, post again.

  • WiFi problems after changing from WEP to WPA on Actiontec router

I need some help/advice--I've searched the forums but am not seeing my exact problem described so decided to describe it to see if the community can help me figure out what to do now. The situation is this: After recently learning about the insecurity of WEP "security" I decided to change the security settings on our Fios router (an Actiontec MI424WR, Rev C). I first tried to change the settings to WPA2, but then my husband's elderly Dell laptop could not connect, so I changed them to WPA. At first everything seemed fine--we could connect to the internet from our computers (my MacBook Pro, his Dell, and various devices--phones, kindle, iPad).
But we soon noticed some strange problems that I was never able to resolve:
I could never get either of two Airport Expresses to connect to the network, even after repeated tries (with hard resets in between)
Within an hour or two after rebooting the router, I was no longer able to connect wirelessly to a NAS device that is connected to the router via an ethernet cable--I could no longer even see it in the Mac finder. I could see it in Windows Explorer from the Dell but could not connect.
Similarly, I lost contact with a Sonos bridge unit that is also connected to the router via an ethernet cable. In this case the loss of contact was sporadic--various devices that connect over WiFi to the bridge could sometimes see it, sometimes not.
Resetting the router would temporarily restore wireless access to the devices hardwired to the router, but I would always lose the NAS device completely after an hour or two and the Sonos bridge sporadically. The computers and devices, however, had no problems connecting to the router itself and from there to the internet.
I finally gave up and returned the security to WEP, and now everything is fine: the Airport Expresses connect, the NAS remains available, and the connection to the Sonos bridge over WiFi is robust (the Sonosnet mesh, if anyone is wondering, was never affected).
I can't understand why switching to WPA caused such problems, but it clearly did, since switching back to WEP eliminated them completely. The simplest explanation is that there is some problem with the wifi portion of the rev C router that only becomes apparent in certain circumstances, though it seems weird that both wired peripherals and wireless airport expresses were affected.
Whatever the causes of the problem, now I'm back to wondering how to improve the security of my network. Should I:
See if I can convince Verizon to replace the modem with a newer version? We have had this one for more than 4 years, since we first got fios.
Just go ahead and purchase the most recent version of the Actiontec router (rev G)? It's only about $115--worth it to me if I can use WPA with it.
Buy our own wireless router, perhaps an Airport Extreme, and turn off the wireless on the Actiontec.
Thanks in advance for any help. This is driving me crazy, and I really don't like feeling as if the network is vulnerable, especially given how extensively we use it.
    Becky

This doesn't sound too uncommon. I had similar issues in the past with some networks I've worked with that were resolved by moving the router actually to WPA2 or by updating the firmware. The ActionTec MI424WR Rev. F, G, and I require the use of WPA2 since they have Wireless N radios in them so WPA wouldn't be of much use. My old Linksys WRT54GX also had similar issues, but that was a result of the Wireless Radio dying along with a mix of newer hardware not playing nice with the old, no-longer-supported firmware. I retired that router, only to bring it back into service as a Wired router at a friend's home (shutting off Wireless and setting up another as an AP) which replaced an old BEFSX41 which didn't have enough power to handle his Cable connection.
Besides a few software bugs at play somewhere, there isn't much that could cause the wireless to slowly stop working like that. I would suggest moving back to WPA2. For the older Dell laptop if it's running Windows XP, make sure at least Service Pack 3 is installed if it hasn't been getting updated. Also, check for updated drivers for the Wireless card since they may be needed as well. A bit of searching on the Wireless card should also indicate whether or not it supports WPA2 encryption. Anything from the mid-2000s should support it.

  • X79a-GD65 (8D) (MS-7760) - Problems after BIOS update

Long story short, I updated my BIOS the above stated board and after updating found that the board would no longer boot, I followed the instructions provided on this site to recover the failed BIOS (switched to 2nd bios, booted, entered bios update, switched over to failed bios, updated bios with good bios file). This recovered the board/bios however the machine now prompts each time stating "Something has changed, press F1 to enter setup or F2 to accept defaults". If I enter the bios I find everything is configured as I set it, even try changing something simple and saving but still getting the prompt each time. I can switch over to the other BIOS but obviously want to address this issue.
What do I need to do to get the BIOS fully restored/not prompting me every time?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Simon

  • After alert clear with script, how to get a new notification email

I have used em_severity.delete_current_severity to clear my history alert message, it works very well.
My question is after clearing the alert list, how to let oracle send another new email to me?
For example, I cleared on tablespace 90% full alert, my tablespace threshould is 85%, after I cleared this alert, the problem still there, I found that oem never send a new email again.
How to let oem send a new alert to tell me the alert problem is still there even I have cleared the alert message?
Anybody can shed some light to me? Thanks in advance!

Consider upgrading to 10.2.0.4 if repeat notifications are important to you.
When I said capacity planning I didn't mean using some flash gui to sort things out. I appreciate you have a lot of databases (are all of them production?), but consider what you do when you get an alert for tablespaces:
    1) Do you increase the size of underlying datafiles?
    2) Do you add more datafiles?
    3) Do you attempt to clean up the tablespace and free up some space?
1 and 2 you can script. Have an internal database job checking space and which adds more as required...before you run out of space. For 3 you can schedule time to periodically do this.
This doesn't tackle the system admin side of things, but thats another issue.
    Good luck.

  • Firefox doesn't clear my history after I clear it.

After I clear all the history and go to the history library, it appears to have been cleared, but if I search for something while still there, pages that I have visited appear. I searched using the letter "a" since it is found in almost all domain names, and then it showed me all the pages I visited from the 9th of August to the 19th of October 2013. Why is this, and how do I fix it?

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

  • Windows 7 boot problems after partitioning Mac Disc

    Hi
    I got a big Problem. I installed Windows 7 with Bootcamp. I have a 600Gb Mac Partition and a 150Gb Bootcamp Partition.
After Configuring Windows, I switched to the Mac OSX Snow Leopard System. I changed the Main Partition of 600Gb into 3 smaller ones. After this change I can't boot Windows 7 anymore. With the Option Key it doesn't show me the Bootcamp Partition. In the Sys. Preferences under Startup Disk it show me the Windows on Bootcamp Partition, but when I click restart, it shows me only the No System Disk Boot black screen.
I read a bit in the forum, but I haven't found the problem yet.
    Thx for your help
    NESTi

Your problem is quite clear and simple: you added and changed the parition numbers and table.
You want a linux style with a slice for swap, root, usr and data?
Use Mac's new Recovery - command d on startup.
Enable viewing hidden partitions in Disk Utility.
Use Windows DVD to fix and edit BCD
What you did is not supported. I know XP can't boot unless it is partition #4 or lower.
There is 200MB GPT, 128MB EFI, HFS+ 600GB would have been 3rd but GPT is zero, only now you have three where there was one.
Manage all partitions with Disk Utility in OS X
Check partition table health in Lion's Disk Utility
BCD for Windows 7 and Lion

  • After I clear the history I have to re-log in (even "my yahoo" homepage) to certain sites and reconfirm my identity , and videos on web sites require me to download a plug-in that was previously installed .

On the days I don't clear the history, My yahoo opens up with me logged in. Also when I go to games sites or facebook, I am logged in. Not the case after I clear the hist. Also I am required to request an ID code via email and wait for a phone call to receive it so I can access my bank account after I clear the hist. Am prompted to "click here to download a required plugin" on sites I frequent with no trouble. I click and the plugin can't be found, and no info regarding which plugin it is. First time it happened, a different site had the same problem, but my click resulted in an automatic download. This time I gave up and used IE.

Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
Thanks fore responding to my question.

  • I changed my email address and now cannot play items purchased with previous email. This only became a problem after I got a new computer. The original email address no longer even exists. How can I access these hundreds of items?

I changed my email address a few years ago. I did not have any problems after this change until I got a new computer. Now I cannot play items that were purchased under the previous email. I entered the password that I used and it doesn't recognize it. I tried "forgot your password" in every combination possible. I never received any emails at the old email address. Now the old email address no longer even exists. How can I access these hundreds of items?

The old email address may well still be valid as your iTunes AppleID, however if you have no other email associated with that ID you clearly won't get any automated emails to it.
I still use an old defunct email for my iTunes AppleID.
    Contact support here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/
You may want to try to manage the old ID here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/
Use the original email address and password.

  • K7N2 - System won't boot (CMOS clear does nothing)

I was trying to OC with the help of a friend. AIDA32 showed my processor running at 2000MHz (7.5 x 267). I was told that putting CPU Ratio to 12.0 and FSB to 166 would get me no OC, but that this is how it should be (?). Since I was being careful (cause of past experiences), my friend told me to set it at 7.0 and 166. Just to be safe. Anyway, I made the change and after that when I press my power button, the computer turns on but nothing happens. No signal is sent to the monitor, neither does the floppydrive do its friendly sound like usual. I was told to use CMOS clear, so I changed the jumper into clear mode, waited a couple minutes and put it back. Nothing happens. I then tried changing some parts, put a 900MHz TB in, another GPU and even tried another monitor (desperate at this time!). Now, I was under the impression that CMOS clear should do the trick, that I was safe. But since this happened last night, I even left the jumper on clear over night. Still nothing happens. What am I to do? I would greatly appreciate any help, I am totally lost here.
My system: XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred-B), MSI K7N2 (nForce2), 2x256 Kingston Hyper-X, Sapphire Radeon 9800SE AiW, WinXP Pro. Thanks for any help in advance.
P.S. A similar thing happened before, which mysteriously got fixed by changing parts left and right. I also checked a post on the forum about the multipliers being weird in the BIOS (that's what my friend thought too).

your cpu uses 15 as a multiplier so you cannot select lower multipliers without the wire trick
and if its new evan that does not work
     Clear CMOS Guide
be sure to press start before moving the jumper to clear the psu
