Problem after I switched modes while watching a video on yout
I was watching a video on youtube and decided to chanege my X-Fi to game mode because I was about to start up a game. When I did this the sound cut out then all of a sudden voices & sounds sounded extremely muffled and I could not really understand was going on. I switched back to entertainment mode & it still sounded weird, albeit a little better. I checked my speaker seettings and it turned out that my rear speakers were no longer being recognized. Now my game mode has no sound whatsoever. I updated my drivers but no dice. Am I going to need to reinstall? Any suggestions? I have tried flipping back & forth with modes, restarting, and switching my speaker settings from 5. to 2. and back.Message Edited by wrcromartie on 0-06-2006 05:09 PM
Did your video keep playing? I know when I have angry birds open it won't let my iPad to go sleep like it's supposed to. If your video kept playing in a closed in environment then that could account for the battery loss and heat collection.

Hi, I don't know how much help this screenshot is going to be but here goes. I used to be able to play flash videos full screen and see my taskbar on the bottom. Last week I think (not really sure, since it updates itself) there was a flash update. After the update, when I make the videos fullscreen, my taskbar disappears. Now I have to come out of fullscreen and check for the battery life and messages constantly. There's no "on top" setting for the taskbar in windows 7 but it is set to lock.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies, do the following:
# Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
# Tap Settings.
# After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section Privacy & Security and select Clear private data.
# You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
* Cookies & active logins
* Cache
After those have been selected, tap the Clear data button to actually clear the cache and cookies. -
my macbook pro keeps going to screensaver after about 3 mins while watching a movie, i tried changing the time on the "Energy saver" menu in system preferences but it keeps doing it, how do i stop this?

LCD flickering problem in HP 15-S005TX while watching videos

Ipad Air keeps changing contrast/color saturation while watching youtube videos
The whole screen fluctuates contrast continuously while watching youtube videos on full screen.The odd thing is it only happens if they are on full screen,and as soon as i switch the video to window mode,the very high contrast fades aways slowly.Please help i dont know what to do.Auto-Brightness is off.Also when if i pri tscreen,th high contrast does not show,the photo looks normally.

Can the volume be adjusted for FaceTime in Mavericks because the audio now overtakes every other application on my computer?
Yes, it is standard. But be sure you're looking in your main library, not the library in your home folder. But I recently discovered something far more convenient in the Developer folder. You can install the developer tools on your install/restore disk.
Check out *Developer > Extras > PreferencePanes > Processor.prefPane*
That'll actually let you modify the CPU activation settings from your menu bar or *System Preferences*.

Switching GPUs by watching different videos
Hello folks!
I am using a MacBook Pro Early 2011 with Mac OS X 10.6.8 and I am watching this phenomenom:
When opening MP4 files downloaded from YouTube the Intel graphics card is used but when I open another mp4 file the Nvidia graphics card is used (System Profiler and gfxCardStatus are telling me this).
I am watching these videos with MPEG Streamclip.

Thanks a lot!But after I managed to tinker with the video driver AND have it reinstalled because I failed miserably, I stand at a problem that is quite annoying itself.
Never hack your system unless your prepared to do an erase install if something goes wrong or have restorable image to install.
You know those flash videos? Like the tutorials here at apple.com?
Videos at apple.com are quicktime movies not flash movies.
Now this occurs somewhat once every 1-2 seconds, and it is really, really annoying.
have you installed any 3rd party plugins for quicktime.
I'm using Firefox 3 by the way. Do you think that switching to another browser would solve my problem? Or is there a driver you'd recommend? (note: I will NOT install anything that tinkers with system stuff if its not made by Apple.
The driver I would recommend you use is the one that came with leopard.
But as you say you have reinstalled that driver and you are getting the same results you may have done more damage to your system than you realise when you tinkered with it.
I would suggest reinstalling your system using the erase install option. If your system still shows anomalies when playing video and any other screen anomalies then run the hardware test that came with your mac to check out the integrated video of the logic board. -
Quicktime crashes while watching streaming video

Quicktime 7.2 often unexpectedly quits while I watch streaming video.
I tried - installing quicktime again, - using cable for internet instead of wireless, made a new account on my mac - got rid of the qt preferences -.. nothing works, it still quits while I watch online video.
who has the solution?i am having the same problem, except when i try to open it using itunes it also closes down and gives me that error message. I also tried opening the files with nero and the problem occurs there also. i wish there was a fix for this because quicktime 6 worked great.

I am using FaceTime to look in on a meeting being held on the other end, but I don't want the people on the other end to be able to see me. Is there a way to disable the camera while watching on FaceTime on my MacBook Pro?
First of all, if you want to run video inside a .pdf on an iPad, you should be aware that the Adobe Tablet and Mobile reader does NOT support rich media ( audio or video ). Despite trying to encourage Adobe to 'get real', it seems that they have no intention to do so in the short term. SO ... I have been working with a company called Readdle, and beta testing their 'PDF Expert' application, and it is probably the most sophisticated .pdf reader for iOS on the market.
It supports rich media, and certain levels of JavaScript that are particularly useful for this kind of work.
However, if all you want to do is insert video into a single .pdf document, that will run on iOS ( with 'PDF Expert only' ) as well as desktop Mac or PC, the video needs to be h264 .mp4 format ( basically avoid ANY based Flash content for iOS ).
You should also note, that active Buttons ( not hyperlinks, which are different ) which you might wish to create in say InDesign or even Acrobat, need to be made up of just imagery (and that also means converting your text to outlines ). However, this is only necessary for iOS with PDF Expert. Also be aware that I have not done much work which includes .pdf on Android.
I do think though that if you stick with basic navigation, avoid active 'Layers' authoring and only want to run simple video, the h264 .mp4 encoding is going to work across ALL platforms.

When watching a video with my headphones the volume of speech seams very low even when i adjust volume. The speech also tends to make a humming sound in places. When I listen to music humming is sometimes transmitted, but the volume level is normal. The problem is that when the video is playing i can only hear music and humming with the voice too quiet to hear properly. How can I make both volumes balanced? Also. This happens in all music videos.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

I was watching a video on youtube just now (on x86_64, with the flashplugin package from [multilib]) when the system suddenly rebooted. During the reboot it recovered and recommitted the journal and everything seems to be fine, but now I'm worried.
I can't find anything in the logs to indicate what could have happened but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. What should I check?
I don't even know if this has anything to do with flash. I had lmms open too, and maybe cmus.
For your amusement, here are the thoughts that when through my head right after the screen suddenly went black:

* The last time a system suddenly died on me, the psu had burnt out... which itself was funny, because I noticed the smell of burnt plastic and rubber before it happened. I assumed it was coming from outside, closed the window, and went to get a drink. When I came back, the system was dead and I had a little epiphany regarding the source of the previous smell.

I didn't even think of that possibility before I saw the clock though, because the computer instantly rebooted. I've never noticed the power go out for less than a second.

My question might sound a little confusing to some of you, but anyway: When I watch a video on my iPad (youtube app, facebook, etc.) I would like to watch the video on my iPad and stream the audio to my atv, which is connected to my hifi. Currently, every time I hit the airplay button both video AND audio will be streamed.
Many people complain about only streaming audio, but that's precisely what I am looking for! I don't want to turn on my TV for every silly 0:30 min youtube video. I would love to find something like this:

if not then you need a airport express which does pretty much what airplay mirror on the Apple TV does but it's a audio only
