Problem after instilling iTunes 10

After I intsalled iTunes10 I'll freeze up and won't close. Can anybody help me with this or is anybody else going throught the same thing?

4G iPod problems after installing iTunes 7.3.1

Immediately after I upgraded iTunes to 7.3.1, my 4G iPod ceased to sync correctly. It's not in disk mode, and it's set to sync automatically (not manually managed). The battery is fully charged. Nevertheless, the sync process never seems to complete. "Do Not Disconnect" blinks continually (for hours at a time), and trying to eject the iPod from the Finder or from iTunes results in iTunes hanging or crashing.
If I reset the iPod while it's disconnected, it seems fine after the reboot, but the sync problem persists. Nothing changes if I let iTunes launch automatically when I connect the iPod instead of connecting it while iTunes is already running - same sync issue. I also tried restoring the iPod, but got the "iPod could not be restored" error in iTunes. I've tried rebooting the computer itself, also.
Any suggestions? Is this even an iPod problem (as opposed to an iTunes problem)? My iPhone is having no syncing problems, for what it's worth.

Sorry, I am going to be no help to you. I just wanted to chime in that I am havng the exact same problem since updating Itunes to 7.3.1. I can only sync a few songs before things hang as you described. I was able to restore my Ipod once, but still have the same syncing issue. Mine is a 20 gig 4G.
When it's hung trying to sync, you can here some funky noises coming from the Ipod, I thought the harddrive was just going out on it. It also gets hot if you let it keep trying to sync once it gets stuck. But, if I do a reset and connect it again, it will sync a few more songs, then hang up again.

Disk Utility Problem after update itunes to 6.0.3

After undated itunes to 6.0.3, disk utility runs 1/4 and stopped with message "disk utility lost connection with disk management tool, and can not continue....."
and when i Trashed itunes and Disk Utility worked through ok this happed with itunes update 6.0.2 as well did not happen to itunes 6.0.1.
Any body got any ideas, please help!!!!

Major problems after installing itunes 8

after installing itunes 8 wanted to update my itouch to latest version. Itunes and Vista PC is now always crashing and harddisk dumps, can't use my Itouch anymore cause Vista PC always crashing during update o Itouch. Also major system dumps as soon as I plug in my nanoand Itunes 8 is on. Can't use Itunes and either nano nor Itouch anymore. Was definetly a great update with mayjor negative impact to my PC and my usage of Itunes = zero now!

Sound/Video Problem after Downloading iTunes 10.5

I recently downloaded the most recent iTunes update, 10.5. After downloading it, I am having problems with the sound and picture of television shows. When I try to watch a tv show, the sound is muffled, and the picture slows or skips constantly. This happens on every tv show I've tried to play, not just one. I haven't noticed any problems with sound from songs though. I had this problem once before after downloading the previous version of iTunes, and completely uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes to solve the issue, and it worked. However, I tried doing it once again this time, and there was no success. I've tried disabling sound enhancements, and that also had no effect. Quicktime is installed and updated as well. I'm running Windows 7. Any help or advice is appeciated.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean. iTunes doesn't save a folder of playlists, but if you mean that the iTunes library is empty, or doesn't contain playlists that it had before the upgrade then either restore your backup or make use of the following...
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps youshouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Problem after installing iTunes 10.3

After I installed iTunes 10.3 as an update my HDD has seemed considerably slower in general, all applications run slower, even after running Onyx and Disk Utility. Rebooting takes over a minute longer, (I have no network or power issues) . How do I remove this update or otherwise get my mac working properly?

Problem after installing Itunes 7.0.2

I've spent several hours over the past two weeks trying to revive my iPod (20GB clickwheel, about 2 years old) after the 7.0.2 update sent the thing into a death spiral. The computer would only intermittently even recognize the iPod, and even when it did the computer would eventually just freeze. I tried most every bit of advice around
I have restored once but now every time I connect ipod to PC, itunes either doesnt recognise ipod OR if it does, it tells me to restore but freezes up everything when I try to.I suspect my problem is the latest version of itunes which I downloaded in order to restore.
What can I do?

What i've done so far is uninstall itunes 7 and revert back to the orignal itunes that came with the ipod. As we speak i'm trying to do a long format to see if this helps. Fyi I had managed to sync itunes that came with the ipod and sucessfully managed to load some songs but they kept skiping. If i stumble on a solution i'll post it on this forum. good luck and god speed

Problems After Upgrading iTunes and iPod software

My Goddaughter recently updated her iTunes to the newest version and her iPod to OS6. Now when she open iTunes, the top tool bar that used to have "File, Edit, View, ....tools., etc., is now blank. Is that supposed to happen or is this a new feature of iTunes 10, so now we would find those capabilities in another location? We are lost, and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software several times just to have the same end result. Also when she syncs her iPod to iTunes, it connects but the window that opens has absolutely no text whatsoever.

You might try rebooting your computer. Select Shutdown and let the computer turn off. Then start it up again and see if the problem is corrected.

Problems after Update iTunes 7

I updated to iTunes 7. Now my iPod is not recognised anymore. After connecting my iPod nano nothing was happening anymore and I had to disconnect the iPod and lost everything on the iPod. The iPod is working but without connection to the computer nothing works anymore. I deleted iTunes and reinstalled but without any success.
What can I do?

You can go back to your past settings. Just connect your Ipod to Itunes and click on your ipod. The first tab to the left gives you the option.

Problems after downloading itunes update

I downloaded the itunes update so my computer would quit asking me if I wanted to. Now about half of my music library is missing. There seem to be pieces of it in the music folder and on various playlists, but there are several duplicates, so I know it's not the whole library. I tried consolidating the library, but nothing happened. The songs I had on my nano are still on it, but I had lots more than I could fit. Also, my computer is not automatically transferring new stuff to the ipod, even though I get a message saying the ipod sync is complete. To get new songs on the nano, I have to drag and drop them. Any ideas?

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.

Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Strange problem after installing iTunes 8.1.1

I have two accounts on the same iMac. iTunes Music folder is in the Share Folder so both account can acccess it. After upgrading to 8.1.1 one account does not shows up the library nor the Apple TV connected. When logging in to the other account it shows the library and the Apple TV connected.
Any suggestions?

Xp home simply lacks a built in GUI permissions tool in regular mode, so you have to manipulate
permissions via the command line or by entering safe mode or by some third party app.
I use a free 3rd party app from Native Computer Systems called ACLView. Native Computer
Systems is defunct though so you will have to find a third party site that hosts the file.

Mail and Apps problems after first iTunes 10 sync

After what appeared to be a normal sync, several apps were missing from both my iPad and the iTunes app page on the host computer. Among the missing apps were App Store and iTunes, and there seems to be no way to download them. In addition, the Mail app now can receive but not send emails, in spite of multiple reentries of connection parameters.
Reloading iTunes 10 on the host computer had no effect. Restoring the iPad had no effect. Any suggestions?

No, a restore to new will result in only the original app that came on the iPad with none of your personal data or apps. I suggested that because there may be something wrong with your backup or something wrong with the iPad. If everything works fine with the as-new condition then there is probably something wrong with the backup. Before you do that you might want to get your data off the iPad via email or some other way so you can get it back later. Your apps will still be in iTunes and then can be synced back to the iPad. Also, if you ever need to, you can re-download app at no additional cost as long as you are signed into the iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.

Album art problem after downloading iTunes 5.0

I downloaded iTunes 5.0 this morning, then I downloaded some songs. When I updated my iPod, about 1700 songs had their album art switched around. Has anyone else experienced this issue? What the heck is going on here?

I ended up calling Apple support. they had me restore my iPod (wipe out the disk) and then plug back into iTunes and reload the iPod. Although it took 2 hours to reload, it was a lot faster than redoing all the album artwork. I continue to be amazed at how much maintenance is involved with the iPod. It is a huge dis-satisfier.
