Try to relocate the card to another PCI slot...
And try to install JUST DRIVERS, a nd not the whole "package" that comes with drivers (of course, in case you don't need the package...
Uninstall old drivers and programs for the card, remove the card in DEVICE MANAGER and instead of rebooting the computer, TURN IT OFF when it asks you to restart to complete the removal of the device, click NO... then shut down... PULL THE POWER CORD FROM THE PSU
Take the card out and stick it to another PCI slot (preferably slot no.3)... now try to install JUST DRIVERS...  when windows asks you for the drivers, select NO, I WILL CHOOSE THE DRIVER TO INSTALL
And then browse for the driver on the INSTALLATION CD that came with the card... and that's it...
when Windows installs driver, all should be OK... if not, maybe someone else has some other idea...

  • Sync problem after reinstalling windows

Last week I had Windows XP with the latest version of iTunes and my iPod could sync without any problems. But after I installed Windows 7, even if I have the same iTunes version, it won't sync anymore. I even tried a reset on the iPod and reinstalling iTunes, nothing works. I don't even get an error message. All it says is this:
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An internal device error occured.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file.
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (0xE8004006).
The iPod 'Vicky' cannot be synced. There are too many files open currently.
Another one with a duplicate file, but I can't get it to appear right now.
It's always a different one. And sometimes iTunes even crashes and I have to reopen it.
    What should I do?

have chosen to manually manage my iTunes library rather than copying all these MP3s to the iTunes folder.
Do you mean you checked *Manually manage music and videos* when the iPhone is selected? This is completely sepearate from managing yoru library. This allows you to manually manage the content on the iPhone.
Can I backup iTunes without actually making a backup of all my music files?
Yes. Copy /Music/iTunes/folder to the external drive.
My problem is that after reinstalling Windows my iPhone now wants to erase itself
So you have already reinstalled Windows?
If so, you cannot backup anything that is not there since you you already erased it when you reinstalled Windows.
BEFORE you reinstall Windows, you need to Deauthorize iTunes and backup /Music/iTunes/folder and all your media.

  • Big problems after hard drive failure - Please help.

About 2 weeks ago, my Macbook seized, and was sent to Apple to repair.
It was found that the hard drive failed, and 2 weeks later I received my macbook back with a new hard drive.
Luckily I had backed up my home drive and was able to restore it using backup.
Now this is where my problems start.
My home drive is not the same name ( I think - I can'r remember too well what it was called previously )
I have my entire music library backed up to an external hard drive, and mounting this hard drive is a REAL pain in the *** now.
Sometime it loads up, sometime it just doesn;t get recognised, and I can put the USB connection in and out 10 times before it mounts.
I have verified the disk, and nothing is wrong.
Does anyone know what this problen could be ?
I have left the external hard drive in during the night, and after the macbook goes to sleep, I will go back to it in the morning, and the hard drive has been unmounted, and I repeat the exercise over again of trying to mount the drive.
Its so annoying, and I just dont know wht to do.
If anyone can help, I;d really appreciate it.
    Griff

SMART status is a pretty reliable indicator of what is going on. You should back up your irreplaceable files as soon as possible.

  • Problems after Hard Drive Addition

    Hello,
I recently added a 250gb Seagate Drive to my MDD FW800 machine.
That thread is here:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=392301&tstart=0 9 (Hard Drive Addition).
I'm now having problems completing a backup to my Lacie external
drive. I've tried several times using Carbon Copy Cloner and the Lacie
backup program , Silverkeeper, but each time my system freezes up.
It only copies anywhere from 2.5gb - 3.5gb before it freezes up. I've
had to restart using the power button each time.
Right after I installed the new drive I was having problems with other applications , Garage Band , Safari, locking up along with my whole system.
I'm not sure if the new drive has something to do with this but I didn't
have any problems copying to my Lacie or with programs freezing.
The new drive seems to be working fine. I can copy to it, open from it
and move files from it. I have it on the ATA-66 bus with the jumpers
on Cable Select. The original 60GB ATA-100 drive has not been touched.
I also noticed that my desktop Lacie Icon has disappeared and been replaced
by a genric Firewire Icon. Not sure how that happened.
On the Lacie drive I just tried to copy a folder to it but it froze my system
up (this is the second time I'm writing this post). The drive had the partial
backup Applications folder. I deleted that folder and then
copied over a huge 22GB folder with photos and it copied right over with no
problems. Previously on the Lacie drive I had my last backup files. I deleted
those files before I tried to back up my current main disk drive files.
I've tried verify disk and disk repair from Disk utility and it reports that the
LAcie drive is OK. I've also used Erase on it.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    thanks,
    Javier

Well WWJD, my system locked up after about 6 minutes of iTunes running.
I then reformatted the drive again and it ran for about 10 minutes before it
crashed again. Strange thing is that the mouse pointer is able t be moved but
all other open applications are frozen. I have to restart using the power button.
I've removed the drive, again, and will return it today. Hopefully they will
not give me too much trouble with the return. I was consiering getting another
Seagate drive , a 300GB, but a new post shows someone having sleep troubles
with that drive. Maybe I should try a Hitachi or Wester Digital or Maxtor.....
Or maybe just another Firewire external drive for the dvd and movie making.
Thanks for all the time and help. I checked out the Speedtools webpage and
it looks like a good collection of programs to have. Maybe after I get a working hard drive added to my machine I might consider it.
    regards,
    Javier

  • X301 problems after installing driver updates - won't come out of sleep mode

We have a new X301 with Vista 32 installed. Things were working fine until I ran system update the other day. I've set the power options so not shutdown hibernate, however, after a period of time the system seems to go to sleep or to a screen saver and will not come out of whatever state it is in. The only solution is to power off/on the system.
I have an X500 where there were display driver problems if there was an external monitor (dual monitor) attached. The only thing I can think of is that either there is some similar issue with the X301 since we have an external monitor attached or there is something that was messed up with the drivers that were installed. I do have (for now) restore points before these drivers were installed but I'm not ready to take that drastic step yet (or a full system restore and start over).
Anyone experience this type of issue or have any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Neil

Sadly, I had the issue resurface today. It went into standby/sleep mode while I was in a meeting (on battery power), and later I tried to wake it, and all I got was a black screen with a mouse cursor.
The keyboard brightness and volume keys on the keyboard were responsive (I could hear the audio level clicks as I changed it), but the visual overlay didn't show (where it shows the white speaker graphic with the bar of rectangles representing volume level). Also, the screen brightness keys did nothing.
I finally used Ctrl + Cmd + Power to force a restart. Luckily, my user account didn't get completely hosed like it did a couple weeks ago.
So, it looks like Migration Assistant isn't the culprit here. This is the system I just finished rebuilding. So it's either a bug in OS X/Mavericks, or it's due to an application I have running, or a configuration change I've made.
It seems to only happen when I'm on battery power, for what that's worth. I don't recall it ever happening when I'm plugged in. I have Power Nap disabled while on battery power, btw.
I'm going to enable SSH access so I can try to SSH in the next time this happens. Perhaps that will provide useful diagnostic info.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

The Help Desk at Motorola assisted me to reinitiate the AppleTalk definitions using the browser-based interface with the SBG1000 gateway. All I had to do was to follow the add a printer steps and I was back in business!

I usually spend the day after Thanksgiving doing back ups and system maintenance but I couldn't get it to boot up.

  • Itunes startup problems after reinstalling.

Hi after recently deleting quicktime from my cpu in a moment of stupidity my itunes would no longer start up. To fix this I re-installed itunes from scratch, however now when i try to start the program I get this message "This application has failed to start becuase AVfoundationCF.dll was not found. RE- installing the application may fix this problem" followed by "itunes was not installed correctly please reinstall, Error7 (windows error126) . can anyone help me with this problem please. Should I try and re-install it all over again or something idk ; /.  Thanks xx

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable....

I haven't seen one of those mentioning an AppleApplicationSupport.msi for a while.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Application Support entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Mail Problems after reinstall

After a hard drive failure I installed a copy of 10.5.6 on a fresh new drive in a Power Mac G4. I copied all my files and settings from a Titanium Powerbook running 10.4.11. Everything is good except Mail. It opens but will not close. It refused to connect to my server (Note that the mail app on the powerbook works fine) and hangs at different points. I removed the imap account and it still will not close. There are a few empty folders in the viewer window that it. will not let me delete. I tried adding back the imap account but it when it tried to check the connection it just sat there spinning. It did not hang up, or time out.
How can I clean out the old mail stuff and start fresh?

    Thanks. I went a bit farther . . .
I deleted the mail folder from library and the Mail.app. Then I copied the mail.app from my powerbook onto my Power Mac. At this point the Mail update would run and I am now fine.

  • Time Machine Problem after Hard drive replacement

    Hi all,
I am new at this so thanks in advance for any help or direction.  I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.8 on an iMac and am having troubles with my Time Machine since having my 1 TB hard drive replaced under the Seagate recall.  Specifically, the store somehow cloned my drive during the replacement process but now when Time Machine runs it doesn't recognize its prior backups as belonging to itself, starts to perform a full backup and then realizes it runs out of room as shown above.
I am backing up wirelessly to a 2012 dlink network attached storage device and it was working perfectly before having the hard drive replaced.  The first time took ages but since was working fine.  I have spent 3+ hours on the phone with apple support to no avail (trying to associate the old backups with TM and then just trying to delete them to start over..,) and have since been working through the Pondini pages of troubleshooting TM solutions.
Specifically, I have followed the instructions on http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html going through the green box steps 1-5 successfully first, but then I am unable to complete the process to inherit or associate the old backups (either pink or blue box) due to this error.
If I cannot associate the old backups with this 'new HD computer'  then I think that I need to erase all prior backups so that I have room on the NAS to start TM backup from scratch.  However, this is problematic as I cannot 'see' the old backups to try to delete them through Time Machine itself as the computer does not see itself as existing on the timeline prior to the HD replacement date.  I therefore need a way of deleting the whole thing but clearly not through Finder or Terminal from problems mentioned by doing this in prior posts.
My NAS is partitioned so that all the Time Machine Backups were supposed to be just in one part of the NAS, separate from the stuff we were archiving from several other computers....(I cannot just reformat the entire NAS).  From reading many of the Pondini troubleshooting posts I think that I need to do something to delete the whole sparsebundle? and think I have located it (see image below) (although I am not sure if it is the one from my prior successful backups prior to Nov 18 or from the more recent failed attempts).
I am carefully reading http://pondini.org/TM/12.html about deleting but at this point am a bit confused as to the best course of action.
Ideally, I would love to successfully tell TM that it has already backed itself up and that the Backups.backups folder belongs to it and not some other computer, so it can just proceed with updates.
Failing that, I think that I would try to delete all prior backups to free up the entire 1.87 TB that are designated and apple formatted for TM on the NAS and then restart TM from scratch.
Not sure if the Backups.backups folder that I have identified has all the info from before November 18th and then could be used to restore itself as I cannot see it through TM.
Thanks for the advice in advance.  I would be grateful for any assistance and I am sure others having their hard drives replaced would also benefit.

    Hi all,
I am a bit disappointed that nobody has offered me any help!  Please?  Pondini?
    Thanks

  • IPod sync problems after hard-drive upgrade/change

    Hello all,
    Can anyone PLEASE help?
I have just had my hard drive upgraded/changed from the original 640GB drive to a new 2TB drive. I've also had an additional 4GB of RAM added to now give me 8GB RAM.
Absolutely everything else seems to be working fine (unusual for me and I'm often at the end of bad luck in such circumstances). The only thing I'm having problems with is syncing my iPod Classic with iTunes. Incidentally, I have the latest version of iTunes and my iPod software was up to date  the last time I checked.
Before I go further, my system specs are:
    iMac
    24-inch, Early 2009
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
    Software  OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (12C60)
When  I connect my iPod Classic, the iPod screen initially shows  'Synchronisation in progress' (or whetver similar wording it actually  is)... but this is just very briefly. It then indicates "Connected", and  that's the way it stays and doesn't change at all.
It takes time to actually show up in iTunes, and when it does, I now have to very quickly click the iPod button (to bring up the iPod screen on iTunes) before the pointer turns into the spinning beach ball.
Now, it hangs... and hangs... and hangs... and hangs.
During this, I notice that "Manually manage music and videos" is ticked (which I didn't have ticked before), and also 'Enable disc use' is also ticked, although greyed out.
Occasionally, the spinning beach ball will disappear and the pointer will return, but this is very very briefly and I have a split-second to try unticking - first - the "Manually manage music and videos" box and then - later, if I'm lucky - untick the 'Enable disc use' box. However, on the odd occasion I've managed this, I haven't been able to go further except for two occasions when I managed to click "Apply". The iPoid on those to occasions started to update... but went nowhere... it just did nothing.
When the thing finally just hangs and hangs, I eventually have to 'force quit' iTunes and unplug the iPod without first ejecting. There was one other occasion when I managed to - split-second when the spinning beach ball disappeared - to click "eject" and the iPod succesfully did so.
There were a couple of occasions in the past when I had trouble with my iPhone and was told to delete/trash the iPhone photo cache folder. Remembering this, I tried this for the iPod (iPod photo cache) and it made no difference... same situation.
I did notice on one occasion at the beginning of all this that when I managed to unplug my iPod from iTunes, all the album covers were missing from the iPod (although still in iTunes). This was long before I tried deleting the iPod photo cache folder though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards
    BionicDan

First things first the spinning beach ball is usually an indication that Search is going nuts.
Turn off Search entire Library by clicking on the downward pointing arrow to the right of the Magnisying glass and untick Search entire library.
Is your music still in iTunes on your new hard drive or is it only on your ipod?
If it is in your itunes then you should be able to plug in the iPod and uncheck Manually Manage music and sync
If the music is only on the ipod connect up as above click on the device and Drag all the music from your device to the library. then you can uncheck manually manage music and sync as normal

  • Problems after reinstalling Sun One

    I've just reinstalled my machine.
But after installing Sun One nothing works
When I try to run my classes, I get this error
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: dir1/MySystem (wrong name: dir1/MySystem)
    What have I done wrong

    Hi,
You can only choose between <not set> and D:\ because d:\is the only mounted directory.
    Do the following
    1. create a temp directory-d:\temp
    2.Mount this directory in the studio.(rightclick filesystem->mount
    ->select directory- d:\temp
    3. Now under tools->options->compiler-externalcompiler-target listbox , choose d:\temp as the target
4.Now compile your MyClass.java file through studio. The file gets
    compiled under d:\temp\dir1\.
5.Expand the mounted directory d:\temp in studio.Under dir1 directory you will find Myclass.class.Right click it and execute.
    It should work
