Problem AGP
Function GA SG-8500A64D SUPER SAGA GOLD VGA CARD ATI RADEON 8500 AGP (64MB DDR, DUAL DISPLAY, DVI-I&TV OUT) onboard INTEL 845D MSI ULTRA AR? Me malfunction. Computer doesn't go start. On other motherboard function. Thank for answer.
-Does the system work with another VGA card? (which)
-What power supply are you using?
Things to try:
-If you have PCI cards try removing them.
-Try loading the bios defaults.

6600gt problems (AGP)
Before installing my 6600gt I had a geforce 2 ti which I uninstalled all the drivers for. When I put this card in I installed the drivers that came with it. When I click on the MSI information tab it says my bus type is agp but agp 4x or 8x arent checked off: http://www.farm-boyz.com/agp.gif and if i go to check my vid card setting it says my bus type is pci: http://www.farm-boyz.com/pci.gif and that makes no sense. I checked my bios, tried multiple drivers uninstalling before installing each time and no luck. Could it be that I received a bad card?

Well the first thing I would do is check all your bios settings, and make sure your AGP is set at 8X or 4X. Your motherboard might only support 4X but thats OK.
Then I would look in device manager to see if you have anything listed out of the ordinary.
To me it seems like a chipset or bios related problem. So you should probably check for updated motherboard chipset drivers and bios. It could also be the MSI video drivers. You don't need to use MSI drivers, so you should probably give the 71.84's drivers a try that are on the nVidia website. -

I just recently started buying parts, about a week ago, to upgrade my old AMD Athlon 2000+. Got all the new parts(listed above). Ive been having all sorts of problems. Ill list them to see what you guys think
1.) Whenever i start playing games or a graphicly intense program(ex: video editing, or 3D programs) or if i play a game and i do any sort of loading(ex: zoning, changing levels, loading player models etc.). My game either crashes to the desktop without errors, or my system will crash and drop to a bluescreen with the stop error "STOP: 0x0000007E". Or ill get a different blue screen saying "Dumping physical memory" or something can't read it cause it just appears then reboots my computer right away.
Or just recently i crashed to my desktop but got an error box saying "There are stability problems with the Geforce FX 5700LE please check if you have the correct drivers etc."
Then just the other night i was playing a game and crashed to the desktop but got a virtual memory error saying "Ran out of Virtural memory etc etc. Please check your Virtual memory page file". So i did and increased it a bit cause i saw it was set lower than the actual amount of ram i have.
I guess it's just 1 big problem but im just so confused about it. Been trying to troubleshoot it for about a week and about to give up. This monday is my last day to return things back to the store, would rather not cause ive heard such great things about AMD 64's and the Neo Platinum board.
Hope you guys got some ideas Im just about out of them heh.
Thanks.Don't know if you have tried this things but heres my list of things .
BIOS:
-First load bios optimized defaults , then ..
-Set the cpu vcore voltage up by + 0.025v (don't use auto)
-Increase the memory voltage vdimm to 2.7v (or the vendors max defined voltage)
-Disable fsb spread spectrum
-Disable dynamic overclocking
-Disable cool n quiet
-Change the multiplier from startup to 11
-Turn off auto on memory timings in cell menu/dram and set all values manually
and the max mem frequency to 200.
-Turn off AGP fatwrites
CASE:
USB connectors
-Disconnect case front usb from usb header on motherboard.
-Disconnect the d-bracket from usb header on motherboard.
-Change the red MSI ide cable if used.
-Check all stand offs/spacers under the motherboard .
-If using PS2 kb and mouse some board have mislabeled color code
making people connect mouse in kb and vice versa .
Correct is keyboard in the bottom mouse top.

How do I tell if I need to Replace Mobo?
I have gotten a lot of good interchange between members of this forum about my pathetic problems, and the time has now come to get down to cases: Do I or do I not need to replace my MSI mobo?
To recap:
1. My PSU has been noted as anemic 'round here, and I intend to take that into consideration. I never ignore advice when I have asked for it.
2. I have serious stability problems which I thought were to do with Win98, but which now appear to be something else: after reinstalling Win98 some of the same things (Windows Explorer executes illegal instructions, for example) are happening, along with an inability to use the sound controller.
3. Nothing anyone has suggested here has helped the sound controller problem, which makes it look intractable. Maybe so, maybe not.
I'd be glad for some help with this. Thanks.Quote

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I reviewed my stats with AIDA32 just now in response to your post, since I remembered that I had also set everything to system default. I assume without good reason that that is something like what you are addressing. Maybe not.
I found one thing: Problem: AGP aperture size is more than half of the system memory size. This ma...
It's incomplete. Is this a problem? AGP aperture is 128MB.
I just noticed something else. Since before I reinstalled, Windows has reported another, removable drive G:\. But there is no removable drive G:\. I hadn't thought about it since reinstall, thinking it would have gone away, but there it is. -
845e ht ready and pc 2100 200/266 mhz 256 mb memmory module(s)
Hi all i am experiencing this problem on all my mainboards as described in the title, here it is:
Bios recognizes only 128 Mb of Ram no matter if they are 1 or 2 (same kind of modules), i tried BIOS update too.
The weird thing it's that it's happening on all my mainboards of this kind but when i'm trying the same memory modules on MSI VIA chipset based mainboards it all works fine.
Thank you in advance for your repliesmotherboard is MS-65663 ver 2
Here is the report generated by AIDA, i cutted off the stuff about the OS because it is too long if you need it i will post it in the reply if asked:

[GeForce 6] Big Problems with NX6600GT VTD128 AGP and Video Overlay
Got trouble to Install the NX6600GT VTD128 AGP VGA-Adapter right.
I already tried out with latest Drivers from MSI 71.22 and the ForceWare 66.93 NVidiadrivers, but no Overlay at all in my Grabbing Software.
It's a DV-Storm of Canopus with Storm Edit installed. With my Ti4200 (also MSI VGA-Card) never had those Problems.
In the Canopus Storm-Edit Software is an Preview-Window to check the grabbing Process. Now, with the new 6600GT Card it's a black screen.
When I press any key, shortly I see a TV Picture. It's an Overlay Problem of the 6600GT.
How do I have to install/configure the 6600GT VGA that Overlay is working fine.
The System:
Intel P4 HT 3,2 GHz
ASUS P4P800 with AGP 8x
DV-Storm in PCI Slot 2
IDE Raid Promise Fasttrack 100
1024 MB DDR400 Corsair CL2
Latency Timer on 128 (doesn't work with PCI Latency Timer = 64 too)
DirectX 9.0c, XP with SP2 and latest Patches, MSI-Driver Version 71.22 (or Reference Driver 66.93 NVidia)
This Configuration is working fine (Overlay = OK) when re-install the GeForce4 Ti4200 of MSI
>>>Problem solved<<<
.....a wonderful Canopus Patch to "clean" the ForceWare Drivers like a big LIGHT in the Nvidia-DARKNESS gives hope and wellness to my PCI found the solution while I cruised in the forum, I used Driver Cleaner to erase the driver file on my HD, and the installation worked perfectly... Sorry about my useless post
If it can help another one... -
Just installed a GF4 Ti4200 128Mb card, and d/loaded the latest VGA drivers from MSI (but not BIOS update - if there is one!) I'm running Win98 SE on a PIII/866 with 256Mb. Seems to be working except I can't change the AGP setting in the 'MSI Information' dialogue box from its default(?) value of 1x. (My M/B BIOS is set to AGP 4x and my VGA setting is set to AGP). In fact, I can't change ANY of the settings on the 'MSI Information' dialogue box.
Running dxdiag.exe shows me that there is a problem when running the 'Test Direct3D' test using the hardware accelerated DirectX 8 interface - it gives the error message:-
'Direct3D test results: Failure at step 5 (GetDeviceCaps): HRESULT = 0x8876086a (3D not available)'.
Incidentally, the frame rates in MS Flight Sim 2002 aren't much higher than they were with my old ATI Rage Magnum 32Mb card.
Any ideas/thoughts on this? I'd be very grateful for some pointers. Thanks.
HowardI would recommend a total reinstall of the system. Having had another videocard previously installed tends to mess up pretty much that is connected to videodrivers and 3d (direct x).
Even if you have run with a videocard in the same familily of cards (such as going from a GF2 to a GF3) you will most often benefit from a total reinstall and gain 3d performance. -
I have an issue with one of my older Mac's. It is an AGP G4 400MHz. When ever I try to boot it goes to the Open Frimware screen and I have to type mac-boot to continue. I can't boot from a CD. I tried to boot from my os 9 system tonight and now the system hangs with a gray screen and I can't move forward or change back to my osX startup
How do I get the system to boot in a normal way and or get back to a cd start up from Open Firmware screen.Hi, Lou -
To clear the starting in Open Firmware problem, try this sequence -
- Start the computer and immediately hold down Command-Option-O-F
- When the computer starts it should open into a prompt screen (Open Firmware).
- Press Return, you will see OK.
- Type reset-nvram include the dash, here and below.
- Press Return
- Type set-defaults
- Press Return
- Type reset-all
- Press Return
The system should restart. If not, try typing exit or shutdown, or you can manually restart the system.
Note - some machines may return "unknown word" in response to the reset-nvram instruction; if that happens, try init-nvram instead.
To force the machine to boot to OSX, upon booting immediately hold down the X key, keep it held down until it starts to boot to OSX. -

I just bought a Gainward 7600GS AGP with mainboard nForce2 MSI Delta2 LSR.
after that my monitor gets compleatly black from 2 to 2 minutes without any reason ! I tried to reinstall windows, install latest nVidia drivers, nothing. It could be from Bios ? Do I need a Bios update? But I checked on msi web site and latest Bios available is 5, the same as mine ???

hi there,
read Moan Guide 1st, and provide full PC specification including PSU brand with details(can be found on the PSU sticker) to get better picture about the problem.
"after that my monitor gets compleatly black from 2 to 2 minutes without any reason !"
where this happend? under OS? in games only or in normal browsing for example? what VGA drivers are installed?
also paste BIOS Cell Menu settings.
Yes under Windows XP. If I am not able even to browse the internet, you realised that I cant play any game.
The drivers are from CD of MSI (mainboard) and CD from Gainward ( videocard). I set in BIOS AGP Fat write to disable/enabled but nothing happend.
I reinstalled Windows XP with sp2 again because I belived it's a drivers problem, but the problem didn't dissapear even with latest nVidia video drivers (93.17). That problem dont occured on Bios boot steps , only after Windows XP is running... -
Radeon 7500 AGP identification problem
I think I may have asked before, but I don't remember. My system specs are listed below. My problem is that my Radeon 7500 AGP card shows up as PCI under properties in the hardware listing. Why is this? Is it a problem?
ThanksQuote

More than 16?
You might have to enable APIC to get more irqs for your devices. But could cause trouble.
Also here is the newest Catylist drivers from Ati
They are newer than on the Power color site.

I momentarily lost track of this thread. :D
Yes, more than 16. I'm pretty sure there are 22. I don't have any sharing now except for the USB, they all share the same IRQ. I don't have any device conflicts, so that's good.
Thanks for the link. -
MSI FX5600XT problems with agp 4x and other stuff
Well
I just bought myself a MSI FX5600XT-TD128
I had a Hercules (guillemot) GEFORCE2 PRO (clock higher than GTS and slower than Ultra).
I'm not sure if my previous videocard (the gf2pro) would run stable @ 4x or run @ 4x at all.. I know my motherboard is capable of agp 4x, the old videocard I am not sure it was..
WEll, I bought the msi, plugged in and no post.
so I take the card out, put it back in, posted... 5mins later, crash..
No post..
So I put the old videocard in (gf2pro) and disable agp4x in the bios, plug the msi back in and running so far stable...
My motherboard is an IWILL KK266 (via kt133a).. very nice motherboard running on a not-so-compatible-with-it athlon xp 1600+ (1.4ghz)
The mobo problems with the cpu (processor) are limited to having to press 'reset' switch to boot (or else pc will power up but no boot).
Well my question is, is the agp 4x problem related to this msi video card in general, or to a faulty video card I *might* have (so I can exchange this one) or is it related to the motherboard???
Also, can someone explain to me the diferences between FX5600, FX5600XT AND FX5600 ULTRA?
Also, explain to me please the 'V,T,D,R' models differences too?
And Last but not least, what is the best driver for the fx5600xt and winxp??
I'm running msi latest (53.03, I installed it just to test em), I had nvidia's 52.16 prior to that.
Thanks for all ur helpQuote

This can also be from a weak PSU, which would be even further taxed by adding the power hungry FX card.
Might need a stronger PSU. -
RX 9800 Pro 128 mb AGP Display problem...
Got an odd problem with my recently purchased MSI Rx 9800 Pro. Once installed my computer boots properly, but i get small lines, odd looking graphics, or simply missing parts of characters, displayed on my screen.
I'v updated my bios on my MB, the rx9800 already has the lastest bios rev. The problem happens during post as well has within windows. But I did pull the latest drivers anyways from MSI, still displays funny.
I cleaned the leads on the AGP connection and made sure it was securely in place.
I thought it may be a power problem, I've got a 400 watt power supply with 3 cd/dvd roms and 2 Hard drives, so I disconnected the power to everything but my primary hard drive and the MSI vid card.
I also hooked up the DVI to VGA converter, incase there was a problem with the interface, but to no avail, it still does not function properly.
Just to make sure i wasnt being retarted I swtiched monitors as well, same problem.
I finally got frustrated and hooked my 3d prophet 32mb DDR Geforce card back up.
I've installed hundreds of video cards (ok, maybe not literally hundreds), but I can't fix this problem. I'm thinking there has to be something wrong with the hardware?
Would the experts out here agree? Any comments or addtional troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
PC Specs:
ASUS P4P800 Deluxe Motherboard
P4 2.6 no HT
512 mb DDR 3200 ram
Windows XP SP 1
2 Western Digital SATA 120 GB HD'sIn that situation, I would try the card in another comparable PC to see if the problem is duplicated. If so, then I would think an RMA would be in order.
If I have a similar class of card available, that I know is in good working order, I will then try it in the PC with the problem to do a thourough session.
It's not always possible to do that as most of us don't own a store.
I have often put things on my credit card temporarily to troubleshoot and then return witin the alloted return window. It's not recommended unless you intend to return one and then keep the other.
Just some ideas. -

MSI GeForce NX6600GT VTD AGP display problem
Hi!
I have MSI GeForce NX6600GT VTD AGP installed on ABIT NF-7S 2.0 (latest bios) with Athlon XP 2400+. Power supply 350W.
I had radeon 9200 running without problems, but if i install 6600gt, monitor goes on standby. It looks like monitor receives no signal from graphic card.
But computer boots normally - I can even log on to Windows! (log on sound from speakers when i enter password)
PS is rated 13A at 12V. Fan on 6600gt IS working.
Mark.Hi!
Tried card in 2 different computers with same results. Seems that card was DOA
