Problem at calculation time, when using Dynamic Calc measures

Hello, We are using Essabse v6.5 and we want to upgrade to v7.1. we are performing some tests, in order to check that the Cubes we have created in 6.5 are working properly in v7.1. the problem that we are experiencing is that the calculation time for the cubes that have dynamic calc members has exploaded to 10 times more, compared to what it took at version 6.5. Do you have any idea why this happens. (also we are still using the old client "Application Manager") Furhermore, I have set up 2 cubes that are the same, except the 1st has dynamic calc memebers, whereas the 2ns has not. I perform calcualtions with the SET MSG DETAIL; and receive the following: CUBE (A) with Dynamic Calc Total Block Created: [4.3720e+03] Blocks Sparse Calculations: [8.0620e+03] Writes and [2.5338e+05] Reads Dense Calculations: [2.8000e+01] Writes and [2.8000e+01] Reads Sparse Calculations: [6.0202e+06] Cells Dense Calculations: [1.1476e+06] Cells CUBE (B) withOUT Dynamic Calc Total Block Created: [4.3720e+03] Blocks Sparse Calculations: [4.3720e+03] Writes and [3.5887e+04] Reads Dense Calculations: [2.8000e+01] Writes and [2.8000e+01] Reads Sparse Calculations: [6.0202e+06] Cells Dense Calculations: [1.1476e+06] Cells Question: Why does Cube (A) has more Sparse Calculations than Cube(B) ???? thanx

Yes, all the settings were exactly the same. See following: - Data Cache (note: we are NOT using the Data File Cache) - Index Cache - Index Page - Commit Block Interval - Cache memory Locking - Access Mode = buffered IO - Data Compression = Bit-Map encoding - Two Pass Calculatino = ON - Aggregate Missing Values = ON - CFG file Is there any new settings in 7.1 that I must configure? Is there any settings that I cannot see through the old client Application Manager, which is important? Must I install the new client in order to be able to configure correctly the Outline/Cube? What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore.

That issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Prompting for password and username only when using dynamic parameters

How do I stop CR XI prompting for password and username only when using dynamic parameters. When no dynamic parameters are used CR XI isn't prompting for the DB user name and password. The report is run from an application which passes the user name and password. I am using Oracle and the problem is both with the native oracle driver and the ODBC RDO driver.

I didnt ask you to change it to static I said I took the parameters totally out of the report. Saved it. Then re-enter the dynamic parameters into the report and it worked for me. That might have worked for you, not sure why you changed it to static.
Ok I have just created a quick report using dynamic parameters, it didnt ask me for the username password.
Can you create a sample report - just to test the db? and see if it works? add only 1 or 2 fields in the report, create parameters (dynamic) and see if it works
why don't you embed the username and password in your application, it won't ask for username password then.

Problems w/ race conditions when using attachmovie

   I'm having a strange problem w/ race conditions when using attachmovie.
I have a class linked to a movie clip that I'm attaching to the stage.   The class is
fired off when the movie clip is attached but also other classes are getting loaded at the same time
while the movie clips is attached.     Even though the other classes are called after the
movieclip is attached, they are getting loaded faster and therefor the class linked to the attached movie clip
cannot access their functions.
I'm looking for a listener that will fire off an event ONLY when the attached movieclip is fully loaded but I can't
seem to find any examples of associating a listener to a attachmovie method.
Any ideas?

flash is single threaded so nothing happens simultaneously. what do you mean by, "other classes are getting loaded at the same timewhile the movie clips is attached"

How to skip authorisation for infotype when using dynamic selection ?

Hi folks,
I have a problem here.
When im using dynamic selection screen, i cannot skip authorisation for subtypes of an infotype. Eg. if my record for 0185 have records that do not have authorisation for the subtypes. Dynamic selection will filter away this record and will not get me into the Get Peras as id i use to run has authorisation configured. IT will skip out of Get Peras.
However, if im not using dynamic selection screen, i will use the normal pnpce fields, i will be able to get the record, as i do my authorisation check using function module in the get peras, and i did not declare 0185 in the infotypes.
May i know if there is any solution to this problem as dynamic selection screen is a standard...

however i cannot skip authorisation for the whole pernr as i need the authorisations for the processing reports.
Currently the case is like this..
i have a authorisations for infotype 0185. i have 2 subtypes records such as ZA and ZB. the user does not have authorisation to read ZB but has authorisation to read ZA.
However, when use dynamic selection, it will skip out the pernr.
If the pernr 0185 records has only ZA subtype but no ZB subtype, it will not skip this pernr when using dynamic selection.
Anymore idea how to overcome this?

Why is the response time when using clickwheel...

I've bought a new 60gb video and, in comparison to my 20gb 3rd generation, the response time when using the clickwheel (next track/pause/play/bak track) is annoyingly long on start-up. And the display takes seconds to catch up with what's playing sometimes freezing with half of the one 'page' showing and half of another. Should I expect this because of the larger capacity/more complex iPod?
Also, in an earlier post I noted that when the iPod first fires up, tracks seem to stop and start - just for a second or so, 3 or 4 times within the first 15 seconds. It's not the track on iTunes as it never happens on my 3g.

Definately sounds like a faulty harddrive.
You could always try restoring it with the most recent updater, and reloading everything - kind of like a fragmented harddrive, I am noticing better performance since I last wiped it clean and relaoded it (due to another error - actually)....

Why is there a problem with Itunes freezing up at least 1-2 times when using it?

It is kind of getting old but my Itunes player (does not matter which one as I update to the latest version) has this nasty habit of freezing whether I am trying to listen to the radio or my own library.
It is now happening almost every time I use Itunes and when it freezes the only fix is to do the old Control-Alt-Delete.
I am running a 64 bit Window's 7 home premium and prefer using Itunes but you know if you does not work get something else
I have 4 GBs Ram with a 2.6 Dual Core Pentium
More frustrating is the lack of support from Apple. Oh wait Itunes is for free so you do not get help.
Even better is a troubleshooting aid that when you click NO it did not help then the window itself just disappears
Yes I checked and it is a system problem but it is a problem that has existed since Itunes put out their 10 series.
Given the number of times this question is being asked by others then is it too much to think that Apple realizes that they have a problem application and it is not the fault of the user or Microsoft OS.
No offense Apple but I know if 10% have a problem that it does not matter to you but why should I spend money on any of your products if you can not come out with a fix for your own medial player?

Unable to insert date and time when using date datatype

I am hitting a bit of a problem when using the date datatype. When trying to save a row to the table where the field it throws an error ora 01830 and complains about converting the date format picture ends...etc. Now when I do the insert, I use the to_date function with the format of "dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss". Of course, when I remove the time element, everything is perfect.
Checking sysdate, I noticed that the time element wasn't be displayed, and I used alter session set nls_date_format to set the date and time I want to save to the table, which worked!
Then based on advice in a previous thread to permanently fix the problem, I used alter system set nls_date_format ="dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss" scope=spfile; This showed that it was altered, and I can see the setting in the em. In sqlplus, I shutdown the database, and restarted with startup mount; alter database open; and then selecting sysdate, it still shows the date as dd-mon-yy, and still no time! Checking the em, and looking up the nls_date_format the setting is still shown as "dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss".
So, my question is this - what am I doing wrong? Why can't save date and time using date in Oracle 11g?????

ThanksYou most certainly can save the time. A DATE column, by definition stores date and time. What you describe is a presentation problem, and setting nls_date_format at the system as an init parm is the weakest of all settings as it is overridden by several other locations.
without seeing the exact sql that produced the error (not just your description of what you think you were doing) it is impossible to say for sure.

I am at my wits end here and hope someone can offer a solution. I use Dynamic Link in PremProCS4 to link a clip in my timeline to AfterEffects. I follow the instructions in my book and everytime I close my files and reopen..I loose the clip along with the effects...I get the place card instead. Here are the steps I do as per the Adobe Classroom in a Book Explains:
I double click on my .MTS file in the Project Board so it comes up on my Source Screen.
I take select the part of the clip I wish to use in my timeline and drag it to the appropriate spot on a video layer.
I then right click the "clip" and select "Replace With After Effects Comp"
I then name the new file. name or whatever.aep
It opens in AE
I then apply two simple effects... keying and a cartooning effect I use from NewBlue Cartooner.
As instructed I then go directly back to PremPro and do a "render" by pressing the Enter Key. This does not work since I only get a yellow bar above the clip instead of a red on???
So then I save the PremPro project and close it then go to the AE project, save and close it.
When I reopen PremPro the file has a place card in it and in AE it says I am missing a file.
I have tried many different ways to do this process including re-importing the .MTS file.
I can close PremPro and reopen it and all is the same as long as I don't close the AfterEffects project. Once AE is closed it looses the file. On a note here I keep all my computer source files in the same place and it never changes plus they are in my PPro Project as well. I never change the names so this isn't this reason.
Is there a tried and true method to select a piece of clip in the video layer in Prem Pro and add effects from AE and not have it misplace the files?

Your idea of renaming comps got me to thinking..hmm.
So I went back with a fresh mind this morning and tried something else..and it worked...so far anyway.
So far I figured it out...
Since the normal process to do this doesn't work for me ..and apparently many others..here is the solution for those of you having similar issues.
In PremPro select the desired clip you wish to place effects on
Rename it and save
R click and "Replace with AE composition"
Name new file
You will see three files pop up in AE in the project panel.
The original source clip .. in my case.. shows an icon that lets me know it isn't the true file.
Highlight this file with a click and then go Ctrl H (for PCs)
The group of computer source clips you use for your project will come up.. double click on the original clip you had imported into your PPro project.
The source file icon in AE will change to an icon that denotes the true file...save
Go to your still open Ppro project and make sure it carried the effects over..save.
Now you can save and close the AE project.
So for this works for me today and I hope this helps anyone else dealing with a similar issue.
