Problem attaching eps-files

When I attach an eps-file in Mail, PC users frequently can't see my file. If I compress it, it's no problem. And it only happens with eps-files.
My solution is to open Entourage to resend it, but it seems stupid...
And it happens on different Macs

I tried it on my machine. Same problem. I think the mac is trying to display the file and not having any luck somehow. Anyway, it's a bug.

Besides the zip workaround, one can also convert the file to PDF, then attach it. To convert it to PDF, open it in Preview, then export it.

Problem printing eps files

Every time we try to print a document or file with our logo embedded in eps form, it just gets stuck somewhere on the way to the printer - it never arrives, the printer jams up, and nothing can get printed until we turn printeroff and clear the jam. Not sure if this is a mac problem with eps files, or a printer problem. Any ideas? Lucy

How do I fix a problem with .eps files not showing up properly in icon view

Actually my .eps files are not showing properly in any of the views but icon view is most important to me. I am using OSX.8.5 on a mac mini and mac book air. Almost all of my .eps files are conversions of .wmf files converted to .eps by WMF Converter software. All of these files used to be on a PC running windows Vista using ST Thumbnails explorer to be able to view thumbnails. For background info: I had to use a program to view the WMF files becasue hackers could put viruses into the thumbnail for WMF fies so instead of fixing the problem Microsoft disabled the thumbnail view for all WMF files.
A few of my .eps files are conversions of files created in CorelDraw 3x and converted to .eps in CorelDraw 3x. Both types of .eps files misbehave the same.
I downloaded one .eps file today from the internet to see if it would misbehave the same way (it does).
Here is the problem: After a reboot when I first view a folder that contains .eps files in icon view I can see the file contents fine. If I use the resize slider at the bottom of the window or resize the window itself then some or all of my .eps files revert to displaying the "generic icon" of a Loupe with a picture behind it. If i can manage to put the resize slider to exactly where it was then my icons display the file contents as they did before I messed with the slider. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when an icon will display as the file contents or when the generic icon comes up. In some folders all the icons display correctly at the smallest icon size and in other folders the icons may display correctly or as only generic or a mix of generic and file contents. Icons to files that came from the same source will not necessarily display the same way. Icons to files that came from the same source and were converted by WMF Converter at the same minute do not necessarily display the same way. If I display "info" for the files sometimes the previev pane of the info box will display the generic icon or sometimes it will show the file contents. If I take an .eps icon that displays properly and drop it into a folder where all .eps icons are displayed as generic then that icon displays generic. When I move that same icon out of that folder then it will display properly. Icon view, list view, column view and cover flow view all display differently with no discernable pattern. Sometimes I can see file contents in column view and not icon view. Sometimes in cover flow and not in icon view. It makes no difference if I have a handful of .eps files in a folder or hundereds of files in a folder. After an undetermined amount of time the icons might display properly again or maybe not.
What I have done so far: exhaustive search of the internet did not find anyone else with the same issue. I checked and fixed all disk permission errors that disk utilities would fix. I know that icon view and quick look are two different things, but, I did however, download and install an eps quicklook plugin that did not seem to make a difference for my issue. BTW Quick look sometimes works and sometimes not (no discernable pattern to this behavior either). I tried the cnet download fix for quicklook just for grins. It had me force QL to reload plugins and it's cache then I cleared out the QL configuration files. This did not seem to make a difference in the behavior of icon view or Quicklook. The only two things I have found to be consistant are 1) The "open with preview" always works but I know this is different because this preview actually generates a pdf view of the file. 2) When the icon does display the file contents it always displays correctly.
When you read this please be mindful of: I am a Microsoft refugee not yet familiar with the Apple world so you may have to tell me how to do "simple" things. I have no idea what is the difference between a "thumbnail" or a "preview" or the behind the scenes way that apple generates the icon appearance for the 4 different views.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I tried to insert a screen shot but got an error message when I did it.

I have problems opening some EPS-files that I downloaded from Shutterstock. Their support person told me to contact your support. I’m using Illustrator CS5.1 on a PC. When I try to open the files Illustrator's suddenly not responding and I have to close the program to continue.

Problem opening EPS file

Hi I have been sent an EPS file. I am running on Adobe CS6 Illustrator. When I go to open this file it says I can't open it becuse it was created in a newer version of software than I have. Does anyone know a way around this so that I can open the file?

Once again , Thank you for solving my problems. It has worked well- No clipping masks. Couldn't get sender to re send in other version as it came via third party. Didn't have access to original supplier.

Need fast help... problem with .eps files

So I'm in a bind helping my company put out T-Shirts...
We need things in .eps format. I'm the one who has some design experience so I've been doing it. What we need though is the design to be saved on a transparent background so when it's imported into our T shirt program, it doesn't maintain the square from the artboard.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.. any guidance?

Eps files generally have no background.
Are you certain here isn't just a white square or something in the file?
Or.. is there a drop shadow or outer glow applied? These effects will cause a background because of the transparency. Because an EPS is a flat file format, the best you can do is put a box matching the background color you want behind the shadow/glow, then save as EPS. Or remove the effect.

Problem caching EPS files with multiple forms

I'm attempting to use multiple forms for caching 1 or more EPS Files in a postscript document. I've followed Technical Note #5144 to the letter and use the "array of strings" method since I have to support Postscript level 2 printers. The arrays appear to be loaded with strings representing the EPS as expected.
If I use only a single form with 1 EPS it works great. I can execute the form anywhere on the page as many times as I want. If I add a 2nd form to the page it causes strange behavior. The 2nd form is drawn regardless of if I execute it or not. Even if I comment out ALL execform calls it still shows the 2nd form (the page should be blank).
I've boiled down the code to a faily simple example. I took out all the binary EPSF content for each form and instead have each form draw a circle.
If working write this postscript should be drawing a smiley face using 4 circles.
Should look something like this:

However, the mouth is actually drawn very small down in the lower left hand corner of the page. If you change the order of the forms definition then the mouth is drawn correctly but not the eyes and nose.

Problem rasterizing EPS files...dimensions reduced

I have some Illustrator files (17" x 16") that I need to convert to 1-bit TIFF files at 2400 dpi. Illustrator apparently can't export them at that resolution, so I saved them as EPS and opened them in Photoshop. The file dimensions appeared correct in the dialog box, and I changed the settings to 2400 dpi grayscale. Rasterization seemed to work without problem, but I later discovered that Photoshop had reduced the file dimensions by about 25%...without any warning or error!
I worked around the problem by creating the correct file size in Photoshop and pasting the Illustrator art into the file.
Anybody know if this is a limitation in Photoshop, or did it do this because of a lack of RAM, etc.?

I just discovered that if I save the file as an Illustrator native file, the PDF importer in Photoshop will warn that the file dimensions will be reduced. The EPS importer needs to be fixed so that it gives the same warning.

Problem attaching mdf file in sql server 2008

As the message says the file is not primary data file ,i guess it must be ndf(secondary data file) or some other file you might have selected by mistake.PLease select primary data file and try attching you will succed

Problem Attaching CORE files in to SunStudio12

I am working in Redhat Linux x86-64 bit machine and using Sunstudio12. When I am running my C++ application , CORE DUMP occures . But when I tried to attach the core file through Sun Studio the following error occurs :

Mail 6.0 bug when placing EPS file

When composing an email, I've always dragged .EPS files into the compose message window, and had the window render a preview of the .EPS file.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, the file doesn't preview, and the window freezes. I'm unable to continue typing or edit type.
The present workaround I've discovered is to Close (Command-W) the window, choose "Save", and then open up the saved composition from the Drafts folder. The .EPS then previews as expected, and the email can be further edited and sent.
Another bug I'm experiencing is the lost ability to drag image files out of received emails onto the desktop or Finder windows. I'm having to use the Save drop-down option to save out attached files.
Is anyone else experiencing these bugs, or know of a proper fix? I really hope Apple addresses this with a patch soon...

I am having the same problem, both with attaching .eps files and drag and dropping. Both things worked fine with Lion but not with Mountain Lion.
I called Abobe as it happens with Illustrator files and they say it is an Apple thing. The senior tech at Apple I spoke to for over and hour didn't know why it was happening.
I am also having trouble with pdf files looking black in the open preview and looking black when attached to emails. If I drag them to my desktop and open them they display full color, however mailing them looking black to a client is not an option.

How can I change 'attach a file' back from classic mode to regular mode

I was having a problem attaching a file (it was the file's fault, not FF) and switched to the 'classic' mode. I prefer the 'regular', previous mode and cannot figure out how to switch it back. I'm hoping when I reopen it it will revert to 'normal', but I would like to go back to the regular mode. I went to the tools (gear) page and flicked the attach section back and forth to the 'show progress bar setting it was originally on but it didn't work. Help?

You can attach this manually in the document tab of BP. Thats the standard functionality.

Eps files 20 minutes for saving

I've bought a new Windows Workstation in order to use my Adobe Illustrator CC.
All works fine, i've only this sad problem, my eps files that I worked with my old Windows Workstation (WindowsXP) are very very slow in saving, about 20 min, the program is in NO RESPONSE during the operation.
This problem appear only with certain files not all.
These are the spec of my new configuration :

Intel Xeon E5-1620 3.5ghz
32gb ram 1600mhz
Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit

Preview opening EPS files - hangs

I am suddenly having problems previewing EPS files on my G5 running OS 10.4.4.
I double click on the EPS file and it says "Converting Postscript File to PDF" - I get the spinning beachball and it just sits there, not doing any conversion.
When I do a force quit, it says 'Preview not responding'..
The odd thing is, on my other machine, running the exact operating system, it has no problem.
I tried trashing the preview prefs and bookmarks, verified and repaired permissions and restarted - none of that worked.
Has anyone seen this problem?

I keep having the same problem quite some time now.
Checking the installed fonts with font-book didn't solve the problem on my machine.
Might it be related to my LaTeX / GhostView installation?
Any more suggestions please?
