Problem: audio interface

hi, i've got a new mac book pro 13' retina os x 10.9.3.  everything is ok
but
i've got some problems with my audio interface. an M-AUDIO FAST TRACK ULTRA.
i've downloaded the driver , it works with mic and guitars using garage band...
but
when i turn off the FAST TRUCK ..the MAC turns off as well (not always, but most of the times)!!!!
someone knows if i make some mistake?
thanks

Its just that it does not recognise that it is connected via the Firewire. After using it for 3 days the first day it was working fine, the second day i had the problem of it not being recognised as being ther but after fiderling with the leads it worked again, and today its doesn't want to acknoledge that its there, even though it still get power through the Bus. its might be just a faulty Box, its just a pain.

I’m having an intermittent problem with my midi controllers triggering Mainstage 3.
I’m using a PreSonus Firebox audio interface.
It’s been working fine for months, but now when I first turn on the computer in the morning , I’m not able to trigger MainStage from the keyboard.  I tried different midi controllers, different keyboards, different midi cords, and check midi preferences.  The audio interface is working fine and is recogonized, but the midi doesn’twork.  I re-started the computer several times and then finally it miraculously starts working again.
I’ve been having to this every day now.  Any help or ideas is very much appreciated.

I Had the same problem with a FireStudio. Try unplugging the FireWire plug and the power plug. Wait for a few seconds, then plug both back in. The light on my FireStudio was flashing blue/red which means "not connecting." I did what I just described, and everything works again. Hope it works for you.

  • Problem running a FW 400 audio interface at same time as FW 800 drives

I recently installed snow leopard (10.6.2) on a macbook pro 2.4 core duo. I have a couple firewire 800 drives connected. I ran into problems when I hooked up my audio interface to the firewire 400 port. I have the same problem with 2 different audio interfaces - Presonus Firebox and M-Audio Firewire Solo. Basically they refuse to work unless i unplug the firewire 800 drives. I found this information on M-Audio's website:
"Computers that have both a FireWire 400 and a FireWire 800 port may be sharing the same FireWire bus internally. When using both, the 400 and the 800 port at the same time, you may experience problems like audio drop outs or loss of connection to the M-Audio FireWire interface. There's a variety of possible reasons for this including but not limited to bandwidth limitations, clocking issues (400/800) and bus master problems with the devices connected to both ports. M-Audio recommends using the M-Audio FireWire audio interface on the computers original FireWire port while adding a separate FireWire interface card (with a Texas Instruments chipset) to the system (PCI, PCIe, ExpressCard, or PCMCIA). Connect any third party FireWire 800 devices to the added FireWire interface card. If your computer does not have expansion slots for a separate FireWire interface card there are 2 possible alternatives: If your external hard drive has FW400 connectivity, you can daisy chain the hard drive to the 2nd FireWire port* (if available) on your M-Audio Device. If your external hard drive has USB 2.0 connectivity, you can connect the hard drive to a USB 2.0 port on the computer"
This is exactly my problem. The audio interfaces work fine when hooked up to FW 400 port as long as no FW 800 devices are connected. It appears that my only solution is to buy a secondary FW interface card. However, I would like to know if there is a fix on the Apple side of this.
(note: I did not have this issue on my G5 running OS 10.4x, which is what I was on before I switched to this new laptop setup - the laptop is a 2007)
Anyone else have this issue, or know about a fix for it from Apple?

Thanks for that info, but that is not the problem. Obviously the first thing I did was check the FW cables and connections and shut down my computer and rebooted. And like I said, the FW 800 drives work fine when no FW 400 device is connected, and the FW 400 audio interface works fine when no FW 800 devices are connected.
The problem is that when the FW 800 drives are connected AND the FW 400 audio interface is also connected on the same bus (as this is a laptop there is only one bus with both 400 and 800 ports). The drives still seem to work fine, but the audio interface does not work. It's connection lights flash and will not hold a connection or process sound (there is either no sound, or clicks and dropouts). The flashing lights indicated a failed clock sync. M-Audio is aware of this issue as is apparent from my quote on the original post, but the only work around seems to add a secondary FW bus via an adapter card.
This problems seems to be a MAC issue with FW 400 and 800 and the internal clock sync.

  • M-Box audio interface problem

My M-box audio interface does not show up in the audio in/out preferences for my audio applications. I have to boot up the computer while it is plugged in (via USB) in order for it to show up and function. I have tested the USB cable and other USB devices work in both ports, ruling out a problem with USB ports. Any idea?
    Thank you

For that to happen you also have to open the Sound panel in *System Preferences* and designate your Tascam as the output (and input-) device.
On the 'audio midi setup' in utilities (under applications in finder), it has the device listed, but doesn't necessarily say it is connected...
If it isn't connected, it won't show up in AMS. so if it shows up, it's connected.
The device comes with its own application called 'FW-1804 manager', which does detect it when it is connected and on. A little green light appears on this program to show that audio is enabled.
Have you investigated that Program thoroughly?
The device has 12 outputs, 8 of which are adat, 2 spdif, then the 2 main analogue outputs. It doesn't say which is which in the list of outputs within 'audio midi setup', it just numbers them 1 to 12.
Here your Tascam manual should shed light on what is what. Or you may have to assign those in the control software.
The levels by each output slider are all set to 0 and are greyed out and unchangeable, whereas when the output is set to 'built in output', the faders are available to adjust.
Yes, those only appear with built in audio - that's normal. You have to set the sliders in the control program.
Does this mean that the output routing is incorrectly set up, or something along those lines? I'm pretty sure it should work, it says it is leopard and intel mac compliant.
    Yes, probably.
And it does still work with the PC, leading me to believe i just need to change some settings?
    Yep.
Could it be anything to do with the fact that it is a FW-400 device, with a 6 pin connection, and I am using a 6 - 9 pin cable to connect it to the FW-800 bus on the mac?
No. If the cable was faulty, it would not have shown up in the AMS utility.

  • Problem Using Zoom H4 as an Audio Interface with Garageband

I'm new to GB and I am having problems getting started using my Zoom H4 as an Audio Interface with Garageband on my iMAC.
I'm fairly certain that I have the connection and all of the setting configurations correct, and yet I cannot get any sound from the H4 into GB.
I do see the sound volume registering in the Input Level window of the H4, but not in GB.
Here is what I see in my Garageband:
    Preferences >
    Audio/MIDI >
    - System Setting
    - Built-in Microphone
    - Built-in Input
    - H4 Audio IN (when H4 is connected to the iMAC via USB)
Of course I have selected the H4.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Operators standing by!

I don't have a H4 but do have a H2. Did you set the H4 as a audio interface, after you plug it in choose interface in the H4 screen?
Did you choose the H4 input channel in the track info?

  • Firewire Audio interface problems in Windows XP

I am a happy user of boot camp with Windows XP and have up til now not had any problems. I have two firewire devices, one hard drive, one audio interface. The hard drive has both firewire 400 and 800 connectivity and works perfectly using both. But I have just recently purchased a Mackie Onyx Satellite audio interface which must use firewire 400.
I follow the driver instructions and everything appears to install correctly. The device is found and shows in the device manager. But, the firewire indicator fails to light up on the device itself, and I have not be able to get any audio through the device.
Please can someone help me! I am assuming it cant be the firewire connection itself because my hard drive works and the audio interface is at least found by windows.
I have got the newest driver version from Mackies website too. I have made sure I have the msot up to date version of boot camp also.
    Any suggestions?
Thank you very much in advance

    Hi there-
I initially bought the Alesis IO26 for my macbook but had so many problems with the interface that I returned it and bought a MOTU Traveler, which solved my problems. Too bad, as the Alesis unit was very nice and half the cost of the Traveler. Please note that many people have had problems with audio running Windows on a Macbook (see the threads on cracks and pops). The jury is still out on who the culprit is (Boot Camp, Drivers, Wireless, etc.) so hang in there. Hopefully, someone at Apple cares about this.

  • Massive problem with audio interface

    Hi there.
I recently bought a brandnew iMac 27" Haswell i7. I encountered problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. These are buzzing, clicking and noise immediately or after 3 minutes or so. I tried everything, re-installed the driveres several times, nothing, really nothing worked.
Then I bought an RME Babyface audio interface - and guess what? It's the same problem. I also have a massive sound noise after some minutes or the recording channel in Garage Band drops completely.
What is wrong here? I already tried using a different power plug, tried all USB ports, turned off WiFi, HDD sleep mode, etc. Nothing worked.
    Do you have an idea?
    I appeciate your help,
    Adrian.

same problem with my imac late 2012 27" 3.2ghz i5 and the motu ultrilite. up to now i have no solution for this problem. the worst i can't use them never before. since from the first day. i attempt  everything. from re-install to fresh install. resetting the nvram and pram. formatting the hd and make a fresh install from the operating system. using balanced audio cables and so on...but same problem all time. even my technological knowledge and know how which i have as electrical engineer couldn't help me. first i was lucky to have apple care in those situations. after get back the imac from the service provider i sadly decide nothing has changed. and they would told me it runs all fine. in meantime i testing my ni audio dj8 over usb. it's similar with the ultralite because the buzzing, clicking and noise is not so extrem as it is on ultralite. but it's here.
the curios with my macbook pro and my old imac early 2008 it runs and works fine without problems. for next week i have fixed a new date by the service provider. but then with my intercace, monitors to simulate this error and i hope they find the reason. perhaps i can tell you some news or solutions next week. i'm relly curious about it.

  • Help! audio interface problems

I dont think this is just a logic problem but my audio interface keeps on stuttering and stopping, especially when using logic. Sometimes the time bar will be moving but there will be no sound then if i stop it might play a stutter or snippet of sound. There is no problem when listening through the laptop speakers. This has started happening with i tunes also.
    interface= tascam us-122
If anyone can help that'd be great as it is really holding me back.
Buffer is set to 1024, cant find more recent drivers.

    Hi,
I found this inside the installer package:
"This is version 3.4.0 of the Mac OS X Driver for the TASCAM US-122. The version you are installing requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 ("Panther") or later. This version is also compatible with Intel-based Macintosh computers using Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later."
Note: Be sure to disconnect your US-122 from your computer before continuing with this installer!
It looks like maybe...the revision for Mac OS 10.4.9 and later, in which Apple changed the FW and also maybe the USB stuff, might be the issue.
If you have the time and inclination, I would try to install the Mac Os up to 10.4.4 and see if it works there... it's a bummer, but as I understand it, they no longer support this hardware anyways... so if you really have to use it, this might be the way to go.
    Cheers

  • Audio Interface: problems of recognising

    Hello there!
I'm Leonardo, from Brazil. I'm new in the forum and it's a pleasure to be part of this community.
I'm experiencing connection problems between Leopard and the Behringer UCG102 (Guitar Link) audio interface. It was working perfectly, and the MacBook use to recognise the interface as "Behringer USB" in the "Audio & Midi Settings".
About a month ago, the Mac simply don't recognise the interface as "Behringer USB" anymore, and now the only thing Leopard shows is "USB CODEC" in the place of "Behringer USB".
The interface is working (e.g. when I use with Garage Band), but the problem is that the softwares that I use (Guitar Rig, ReValver) aren't working as they use to.
I've tried to reinstall the Leopard 10.5.2 that came with the Mac. The interface still shows "USB CODEC". After I upgraded to 10.5.3, and 10.5.4, and it remains with "USB CODEC".
Does anybody knows the answer for this?
    Thanks a lot!
    Leonardo.

    Still having problem.
Does anybody know what I should do?

  • Firewire and audio interface problem, please help

    Hi all
I'm not being lazy, i've spent hours trawling through forums and google trying to find a fix but cant so hope someone here can help.
Basically, I've been using my Macbook for Logic Studio with an audio interface (Motu 8pre). This was connected via firewire 400 to firewire 400 and worked absolutely fine no problems.
I've recently got a Mac Pro. I've installed Logic onto it, my Motu 8pre driver etc etc and noticed that the firewire socket on the Mac Pro is different. I've been on the Motu website and quite clearly they say that a firewire 400 to firewire 800 cable will work fine with modern macs (this can be seen in more detail at bottom right of this web page http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/8pre
I've bought one of these cables and plugged them into my interface and Mac Pro respectively, switched on the device as i have been doing for the past year with my Macbook, but the MacPro just wont seem to recognise it.
How can I get this interface to work with my Mac Pro?
I've tried connecting to different ports on back and front, restarting machine but it just wont work.
Am I missing something simple here?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance
    Adam

Ok its official I AM a muppet.
Went onto motu site again and noticed they released an update driver for snow leopard. Downloaded it and it works fine.
    Fixed.
    Thanks

  • 'Invisible' latency problem with Tascam US-122 mkii audio interface

Firstly, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer, secondly I'm very new to Logic and troubleshooting DAWs, and thirdly this sort of thing is really difficult to describe. So, here goes:
I'm using a late 2007 macbook with a 2.2Ghz intel core 2 duo and 2GB ram with Logic Pro 9. My audio interface is a Tascam US-122 mkii.
The reported latency I should be experiencing is far less than what I can hear. That is, if I record a part through the Tascam, through guitar line in or by a microphone, when I then go to playback the track the recorded track is VERY misaligned with the rest of the song. It's usually by about a third of second- I can match them up with a mouse drag but that's only for very simple parts, e.g 1/4 notes or something. Logic isn't compensating for any latency between the interface and Logic. Is there any way to fix this? I suspect this might be something to do with the drivers for the Tascam, rather than Logic....or is it that the mac's spec is too low? If I got another audio interface, such as the Apogee One, would that be more 'plug and play' in giving me less issues with simply trying to get a recorded part appear where it should do? I've tried experimenting with the drivers (I'm currently using the one recommended by tascam) and by changing the I/O buffer size.
One other weird problem is that if I set the output and input in logic for the Tascam, I end up with really bad CPU spikes. Practically a full bar. But if I set it to the input only from the tascam, and use the default output with logic, no CPU spikes. The latency/alignment problem is basically unaffected by this.
Here's an excerpt from an email I sent to Tascam support, which sets the problem out in a slightly different way.
"In logic, when I have both the output and the input through tascam, obviously the recommended setting, it doesn't say there is much latency but there are all sorts of CPU spikes. Even though it says there isn't too much latency (i think about 15ms, which is more than i'd prefer), there is a large delay when playing back a recorded track. Basically, the tracks are misaligned about by a third of a second.  On top of this, and I don't know if this indicates anything, but when I use the tascam as both input and output I can't access the lower I/O buffer settings in logic, i.e 32 or 64, as there's a lot of white noise. I was under the impression using lower I/O buffer settings might help, but....
When I set the output to the default device (macbook sound output) and take my input from the tascam, there's still a large delay. Logic reports the latency as being lower than before by about 6 ms, but upon playing back a recorded sound there really isn't any difference- we're still looking at about a third to half a second misalignment between the tracks.  However, strangely, with the default output and tascam as input, the macbook can happily get down to an I/O buffer size of 32 in logic while using low latency mode, but as I say this hasn't helped the problem at all.
So, despite getting lowish reported latency, I'm getting a MASSIVE delay between a track I've recorded and where it should be, that is, about 1/3 to half a second later. "
Anyway, thanks again to anyone who has any suggestions. I've tried as much as I can think of and have had a good look in the manual and a look around these forums, but since I can't really figure out what the problem exactly is it's proving hard- so apologies if it's something really obvious.
Thanks to anyone who helps, I know it might not be very interesting since Logic 10 just came out......
    Mike

Actually, at long last and thinking about it differently, I've sort of sorted out my own problem- the 'delay' or 'invisible latency' was caused by using the tascam as input and the macbook as output. But I'm still getting massive CPU spikes and can see a lot of crashes incoming....is that because of a poor driver, or because of a poor macbook? Would something like the apogee one be less of a CPU hog?

  • Input problem with UCA202 usb audio interface and Garageband

Hello, i've tried to connect my guitar in my UCA202 Bheringer audio Interface, and the sound goes fine for few minutes and after i get a noisy distorsioned sound with a big delay...
I dont know if the problem comes from the MacBook, the sound card, Garageband or else...
it come only from input guitar device.
    Thanks to help.
    Alex

There are other posts concerning this problem. I also have a UCA202 and a Peavey PV10 USB mixer. It seams that anything using the 10.4.11 or 10.5.1 mac USB drivers are having this issue. I had to go back to 10.4.10 to resolve at this point. My recordings are clean when going back. There is 10.5.2 comming soon and it is not known if this will fix it. Check this thread for updates.

  • M-Audio Firewire 410 Audio Interface Problem!

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had the same trouble as I have with my 410 Audio Interface.
I have a brand spankin' new iMac G5 recieving July 27th, 2005, and a pair of Behringer Truth B2031A Studio Monitors, and then of course my M-Audio 410.
The problem I am having is that my speakers are picking up noises the G5 is making, how do I explain. It appears as if the speakers were picking up the power consumption changes and amplifying them. Whenever I move my mouse, or use expose or use an application, my speakers just make noises related to the CPU's performance.
I replaced the speakers, bought new cables, exchanged the M-Audio interface 2 times and am using my 3rd box and the problem still consists.
Another problem I have is, when I power everything off, the M-Audio Interface still recieves power, therefore blinking it's extremly bright blue LED all night long. (Which isn't supposed to happen).
If anyone knows any solutions, or had the same problem, Help!!

    Hi Studzik,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Ummm ---- given that you have a G5, maybe it's better that you post this is the iMac G5 section of the discussions (this is the flat panel iMac G4 section that you have posted in). That way, you have a greater chance of a G5 iMac user familiar with your issue picking it up and being able to help you.
All the best, hope you find a solution.
    Cheers!
