Go to Settings, General, Keyboard, Add New Shortcut and type the phrase and the shortcut you use to type the word. For example, ab would be about. You can go back and delete the shortcuts if you don't want them later.

    MetsFanGirl,
    Thanks for verifying. Are you having issues receiving both iMessages and standard text messages when they are sent when the phone is turned off? Try this and test... http://vz.to/1qjiOs7

  • How to turn off automatic correction on text message?

    How to turn off automatic correction on text message?

    At this time I don't think there is a way to turn it off. the software will learn new words and shortcuts you use when typing as you go. To do this type in the word/phrase and then hit the x when the suggested word pops up or tap on the word to keep what you have. Then hit the space bar and type away, it should have added that word to its dictionary and if you type it again it shouldn't offer up a new word instead.

  • How do you turnoff the auto correct feature in messaging?

    The auto correct feature in Messaging often changes what I'm typing to the wrong word.  How do I turn off that feature?  It is really annoying!!!
    Bill

    Hey Bill that is pretty annoying which is why I use Swift key as my keyboard. To turn off the feature,  go to settings>language and input. To the right of "Samsung keyboard" is a gear icon. Click on that.  Then click on auto replacement. Click on the on button up at the top right and it should go to off. Let me know if that works for ya.

  • Can I shut off auto-correct when typing text messages

    When I am typing a text message, my phone auto corrects.  Is there a way to shut this feature off?

    You can turn it off but it will be off for all uses on the phone, not just text messages. The on/off control is in Settings > General > Keyboard

  • Send button not working when text message

    When I was texting message with my friends, all of sudden I can't type the respond message unless I have to quit and try to text my friend again. The problem is the box where you typed your message is gray out and "Send" button is inactive or gray out. This problem occurs when I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS 6.1
    Please help.

    After Update today, SEND button no longer activates keyboard. I tapped message window area and that activated the keyboard. SEND button worked to send message. (Not sure how to describe that "message window area", but its the area where your message shows as you type.)

  • E61 - Problem: Auto restart when Ad-Hoc Disconnect...

    Hi,
    I use E61. I connect internet with E61 by Ad-Hoc connection with my Laptop. When I disconnect the Ad-Hoc connection, My E61 auto restart. I don't know why. I tried many times.
    E61
    firmware: 2.0618.06.05
    Thanks.

    I usually connect to a router (infrastructure) but yesterday I connected to an ad hoc network and when I disconnected the E61 crashed and rebooted.
    The WLAN features on the E61 need to be improved by Nokia as there are a number of problems:
    1. crashes when disconnecting from ad hoc networks.
    2. will only work with many routers when power saving is disabled on the phone and then the battery life is very short.
    3. cannot connect to some secure wireless networks because EAP-TTLS-PAP is not supported.
    4. the error message 'WPA Authentication Failure' appears randomly when you try to connect then a few seconds later it will connect without any change in settings.
    The power saving would be a real problem with VoIP, but VoIP does not work with most providers!

    Do you by any chance have the Emoji Free app on your iPhone? Other's reported this some time ago and the common thread (and solution) was to get rid of that app. Here's a link you can click on to read that thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12296289&#12296289
    That isn't the problem. I have the same problem with it typing a B or M sometimes when I double tap the space bar for a period. I have never installed that app and have no reason to.

  • Can I auto forward sms/text messages to another phone?

    I find myself in the unenviable position of carrying two phones and I need to have my main phone (iPhone 4) forward sms/text messages to my other phone (Samsung Infuse).
    After tinkering with the various setting on the phone, and trying to Google it for the past couple of days I haven't been able to find ANYTHING!
    If anyone knows of any apps, settings, tips, tricks, or work arounds I would really appreciate it!
    Thanks,
    GBA

    Take a look at Google Voice. I use it so I don't have to carry 2 phones. One personal, one for work.
    It gives you a new number that you can direct to ring multiple phones simultaneously if you like. It will also handle text messages and forward them for you.
    Even if you're only going to carry one phone, this gives you a # you can have other people call without having to give them your personal #.
    There are other neat tricks you can pull with this. For example, it can display your GV # in the caller ID for incoming calls instead of the actual callers #. If you have a plan that gives you unlimited calling to specific #s, that means all those calls can be free if you add it to your friends/family/Alist/whatever they call it now.
    You can also set time restrictions so that it will only forward calls/messages during certain hours or to different phones at different times. When I'm working or on call, I get calls from the office. If I'm not, they won't ring through (they want me on call, they can pay me for it. lol)
    I don't know if it will be helpful for you, but it might be.  The service is free with cheap international calling rates.

  • Problems auto-filling a text box

    Hi,
    I am trying to populate a text field with either "Yes" or "No" based on the value placed in another text field. If the value in [textfield 1] is greater than 0, I want a "No" to appear in [text field 2] and if the value of [textfield 1] = 0, I want a "Yes" to appear in [text field 2]. If [textfield 1] is blank, I want [textfield 2] to be blank. I have put the following code into the Custom Calculation area of [textfield 2]:
    var a = this.getField("textfield 1").value;
    if(a=="") event.value = "";
    else if(a>0) event.value = "No";
    else if(a==0) event.value = "Yes";
    Currently if the value from [textfield 1] is greater than 0 a "No" will appear, but the field remains blank if the value of [text field 1] = 0. I'm not sure why this is. This code has worked for me before when the value conditions are different. Is it something to do with the 0?
    I also want some other fields to be visible when [textfield 2] is populated with a "No" in the box and hidden when [text field 2] is populated with a "Yes". This is the code I used in the custom  validation script:
    if (event.value =="Yes") {
         this.getField("textfield 3").display = display.hidden;
         this.getField("checkbox1").display = display.hidden;
    } else if(event.value =="No") {
         this.getField("textfield 3").display = display.hidden;
         this.getField("checkbox1").display = display.hidden;
    Again this code has worked for me for other fields. I'm thinking it doesn't work now because I don't have the Calculation Script working yet?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    It seems as though in my calculation code this line:
    if (a=="") event.value = ""
    conflicts with this line:
    else if(a==0) event.value = "Yes".
    I changed the values in my code so that if a>10 it would return a "No" and if a<10 it would return a "Yes" and it worked perfectly. However, when I use the above code (a==0, it just leaves the box blank. I would take out the first line of code (a==""), but I would like the box to be blank until data has been entered into the form.

  • When text messages were sent

    I shut my phone off at night and in the morning I find I have text messages. How do I find out what time text messages were sent after phone has been off?

    Unless your carrier provides that information on your bill, you can't. You could always plug your phone in at night and put it on mute. Then you'd see the times as normal.

  • Thunderbird: Auto returning when typing message

    Ahoy!
    I'm hoping this will be a quick fix. When I type a message in Thunderbird, after about 80 characters the cursor is auto returning to the left and starting another line, hence I'm getting a paragraphed message block that isn't using the whole of the available text box across the whole screen! I have no idea why this is happening, but I hope it may just be a setting correction. Here's a sample of what it's doing (I've just used any characters to show as an example:
    rtrwrwyryr y rttywywy ywyywywywey ryeyeey reryeyt3tet 454y45yury y4y44yuy 5yreyryrry y4y4577587 567575i67 i ll7i68u3446 455746644y5y4 y466yryyuu y4646 n 47464644646464646464 747474 464yy g 4y4y yuyuy5y 332336 ii6i645433 46463636363n 3336363 43646 464646.
    Thunderbird is limiting the number of characters I can use and then auto returns. Is there a technophone that can help to correct this phenomenon? It would be really appreciated ;o)

    This may not be a good idea. See [*] for some reasons. Some of your recipients may see your text all on one line and have to scroll.
    Better IHMO is to keep the default of all "wrap" configs in Config Editor except <br>
    <code>mail.compose.wrap_to_window_width</code> <br>
    which you would toggle to true if you don't like the wrapping while composing a message.
    [[Image:2014-06-19_TB_config_wrap2]]
    Or, if you want to send mails in HTML most of the time ([http://email.about.com/od/netiquettetips/qt/When-In-Doubt-Send-Plain-Text-Email-Not-Fancy-Html.htm don't if you are not sure]), then in ''Account Settings > Composition & Addressing'' check ''Compose messages in HTML format'' in which case the cursor won't auto return either.
    [*] e. g. http://mailformat.dan.info/body/linelength.html older, but sill mostly quite valid
