Problem: Bluetooth in OS X Lion

I have a problem.
Yesterday, I downloaded and installed OS X Lion in my Macbook Pro (2009). Everything is OK, except Bluetooth. I don't know the reason, but my computer doesn't recognize Bluetooth integrated in my Macbook Pro. What can i do?
Thanks in advance.

I've done:
- Reset SMC.
- Repair Disk Permissions.
- Reset PRAM with keys (Cmd+Alt+P+R) doesn't work. I don't know the reason.
But the problem remains. I've watched the section "System Information" in About my Mac, and the section "Bluetooth" is "not available", but my computer has bluetooth, in Snow Leopard was worked perfectly. It's really weird.
So please... Someone can I help me with this problem?
Thank you.
(Sorry for my bad english level. I tried to explain my problem as best as possible).

  • IPhone 4 problems syncing with iCal in Lion

I have an iPhone 4 with IOS 5.0.1,  and a Macbook Pro with OS 10.7.2 and itunes 10.5.1. Every time I plug my iphone into the Macbook, it launches itunes and does a sync, but then it gives me a "Sync Conflict" message. It tells me there are 2 conflicts, and these are always the same two Ical items which i have recently changed on my iphone. It asks me how I want to resolve them, and when I click on "using iPhone" and then OK, the message goes away, but the sync does not work and the message pops up again every 5 minutes. I've tried using the iCal items, same problem.
One detail: About a month ago, i had a brief stint where I tried using ICloud, but I found that all of my ical events were doubled and even tripled and it was a huge mess. I kept having to delete events that were repeated, and they kept coming back. I deleted iCloud and stoped using it. Not sure if this is relevant.
Another detail, I just switched to Lion about a week ago, I was using OS 10.6 before and never had this problem. Seriously considering uninstalling Lion.

    Hey,
I have the same issue only I went from a widows 7 OS to a Vista OS to backup mine.
This seems to be a common fault since the new update of 4.3.3, as there are several people who have done the same as you and I but on several windows OS.
Therefore one can conclude its not a fault with windows but may lie in the iPhone update.
Also I have seen a patten in that its the personal computers of the iPhone owner that wont work, yet someone else's system with work just fine?
Still hopefully there is more to come to resolve this issue.

  • Problems I've found in Lion

These are some of the problems I've encountered in Lion so far using it in my Mac Mini Mid 2010:
    1. Screen Sharing is broken from the iPad (sometimes it works and sometimes don't). It may need iPad apps updates, this was working fine in Leopard. I use Mocha VNC abd VNC Viewer. Both apps freezes and won't let the user input the computer password (not the VNC pass but the one needed to log on to the computer), once the app connects with the computer via VNC. In VNC Viewer I have managed to input 3 or 4 letters, then it freezes.
    2. Windows File sharing is having problems. The PC sees the mac, but not always can copy files to it or the other way around, this was working fine in Leopard. It may be a permissions problems, but at least it should let me copy files from the Mac to the PC.
    3. I can't see the Mac as a Network share from any of my media players (WDTV Live, Xtreamer Pro). If I try to search the mac using the IP address, the media players find the mac, but when I input the correct log in information, the credentials are never accepted (even thought I enter them correctly), this was working fine in Leopard.
    4. IMPORTANT: The computer case gets too HOT even if there are no activity at all. I have to place an external fan to the case so it gets warmer.Temperatures can go to the 70-74c,  this was working fine in Leopard.
    5. I've seen weird pixel distortions coming from the cursor from time to time, like a thick line of pixels in colors, this I can't make it to reproduce because it's random. Sometimes it happens when I restart or shut down the computer. I've seen the same color pixels from Google Chrome while loading pages.
    6. The scroll bars don't disappear when I use stack folders from the dock, they just dim. This feature should be consistent.
    7. This is not a bug: What is the real use of the Launch Pad, if I have the Dock with all the apps I need? In the iOS the dock does not duplicate the apps in folders or "finder". I think the Launch Pad should have a different version of the Dock, letting the user drag an icon to this Dock to avoid having duplicated icons. I am not really using this feature at all, it is cool, but not so useful for me, so far.

Well there’s no point in posting that list here. Apple aren’t here. This is a User to User forum and Apple do not promise to read anything here. To communicate with Apple try
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
But do this please. The more folks complain the better the chances that your concerns will be addressed.
However: This is not a bug
    11) No way to delete an EVENT, for photos I want to stay in my library but be in an album and not an event.
This is absolutely intended behaviour. Events are simply a view of your Library. Every photo must be in the Library, so every photo must be in an Event. So, to be available for use in an Album the photos must be visible in both the Library views: Events and Photos. This has been the case since Rolls back in iPhoto 1, every pic had to be in a Roll, and rolls are just a view of the Library.
Can't get rid of the event intuitively.
    Just trash the photos therein.
You worry if you delete the photos from the event to get an empty event (which I think will make the event go away) there is a persistent fear that your are deleting the actual photos from the library.
You’re right to worry: you are.
Far better to highlight an EVENT and press delete; you are then deleting the EVENT but not the photos in the event.
This is never the case. Delete and Event, you delete the contents.
As to why your photos are not geo-tagged on export, are you checking the option to Include Location Information?

I found an answer.  It's a problem with time machine.  If you disable it it should stop.  I am manually turning it on when I connect since I don't stay connected to that hd all the time.  I haven't had the message since.

  • Magic Mouse Bluetooth connection problems with Mac OS X Lion

I've a problem with my Magic Mouse on  bluetooth since I've updated my Mac to Lion, it's disconnecting too often. How to fix it ?

It might be a physical battery connection problem. The solution was already described by this article:http://macs.about.com/od/tipstricks/qt/Fix-Magic-Mouse-Disconnects.htm
Placing a trimmed piece on paper that was cut from a business card between the batteries and the battery-enclosure lid helps hold the batteries down firmly. This eliminates the tiny freeplay that allows a physical battery terminal disconnect when the mouse is jolted.

  • Magic Mouse tracking poorly and losing Bluetooth connectivity since Mountain Lion upgrade

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have experienced frequent and inconsistant tracking from my Magic Mouse. It will work fine and then out of no where, and without any connection to a particular app or process (that I can identify) it will begin stop moving or move in a very jittery fashion. I'm also experiencing Bluetooth connection loss with the mouse from time to time out of nowhere. I cleaned the mouse and even went to so far as to replace it with another, brand new Magic Mouse and have seen the same problem.
I have also tried resetting PRAM and SMC.
Anyone else experiencing this or a similar issue? Have any suggestions of things to try?
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  26 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8 (12A269)

Well , regarding of this issue i did some tests and i've reached to some conclusions to fix it.
    Steps
    1. turn off the magic mouse
    2. remove batteries
    3. put everything back and power on.
    4. pair your mouse again if you remove it from the tab
    5. leave the option discoverable marked down
    6. add to favorite from bluetooth menu (you will see a red heart with yes )
    7. should work for now
Test 1 : Mac mini 2010 with OSX Lion 10.7.4
Test 2 : MBA 2012 with OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1
Conclusion : still have a bug not showing the right battery level (only 100%)but if you use "iStat" widget you will see the real level.
Magic mouse doesn't have, unfortunatelly the multipoint technology so if you use on multiple cpu in the same area can create instability (leave only one of a time and remove it from the bluetooth tab on other cpu)
I belive its working only using step 6, but to be sure

  • Audio Problem since upgrading to Mountain Lion

Has anyone encountered audio problems with their iMac?  I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my i7 27" with 16GB of Ram and found that the Audio starts to get distorted and eventually cuts out after about an hour!  It starts cutting in and out when I move the mouse and eventually there will be no sound at all!
Sometimes it can take over an hour of steady use, my last time was watching a movie on Netflix.  I initially noticed this using a USB DAC Headphone Amp.
I never had any Audio problems before, my machine is over 1 year old.
I enjoy watching movies in iTunes and DVDs, but this is making it difficult!  A full restart usually fixes the problem for a time but it will eventually come back
I'm seriously thinking of going back to Lion for the time being and seeing if it is a Hardware problem.

i don't know if mine is the same issue, but i had no sound through any of my applications after upgrading to mountain lion.  here is what i had to do to fix it:
-- applications > utilities > audio midi setup > UNmute all options under "built-in output" (they were mysteriously muted)
Also, I noticed that the options for "use this device for sound output" and "play alerts & sound effects through this device" were no longer assigned to my Built-in Output device.  They were assigned to some other random sound driver.  To fix, i right-clicked on Built-in Output and reassigned those items to my built in speakers.  All fixed now!
    very weird problem, though.

  • Mail sorting problem after upgrading to Mountain Lion?

I have a strange problem with Mail after upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Before upgrading, when I tried to search my Mail Inbox for e-mails from a specific sender, the esearch results would be indexed by the name of the sender. For example: when I entered 'John Smith' in the search box in Mail, it would display a list of email from 'John Smith'
Now after upgrading, the same query indexes the search results by the 'To' address i.e. my email address. For example: if my name is 'Steve Johnson', a search for 'John Smith' in the search box in Mail displays a list of email to 'Steve Johnson' and not from 'John Smith' which is how it used to display before.
My emails are sorted by Date always, and I am using the default Mail view [not classic view]
Can someone please help with a fix for this to help me get back to the original display I had while searching? Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem.  It's incredibly annoying!!!  Did you find an answer?

  • Any problems to upgrade Mac to Lion with sync with iPhone 3G?

Do you know if there are any problems to sync iPhone 3G (version 3.1.3) with MacBookpro after installing Lion on it?
I don't want to upgrade iPhone to version 4 because many known problems.
I'd like install Lion on Mac but the question is: Mac will be sync, via iTunes, with iPhone 3G after this installation? Thanks

You will notice that it runs more slowly if you choose to upgrade. Other than that, I have not heard of an major issues with iOS 8.
I too have an iPhone 4S and am going to hold off on upgrading unless I have to restore my phone or an app I'm using requires me to update in order for it to work.

  • Terrible flagship problems, bluetooth and syncing

Ok, this is getting a bit pants now..
Firstly, everytime I connect my phone using the USB cable and start either Nokia Music or Ovi it syncs my music.. every track.. every time.. This is on a fresh install of XP SP3.. no other software at all..
Nokia care ummed and errred for a while and "promised" to call back with a solution after trying to convince me that the problem was my tracks didn't have names (which they do.. and album art).. They leaped on the chance to blame my Mac running XP.. firstly, that's not a excuse.. a Mac booting XP is a PC.. secondly, I'm using a Dell, I never said I ran XP on my Mac..
This cannot be normal! (the syncing problem, not the lack of support.. I've never had Nokia care solve a problem, but that goes for Apple too)
Secondly, I have a pair of BH-905.. the flagship headphones.. noise cancelling, BT, very very nice (on paper)..  but..
It is not accep.........tabletocutoutthenspeed up during playback. It does th..........isfartooregularly it is very dull.
Next problem is the first call after turning the headphones on.. the microphone is mute.. You can hear the caller/other end, but they can't hear you. That's real handy, especially if the phone is in your bag.. you have to dig it out, press "activate handset" then "activate BT headset" to allow them to hear you
Seriously, two flagship devices and they didn't test them together?!
I've got to find a decent phone to test the headset. Since the N97 loves bugs, I suspect this is a failing in the phone..
Maybe v20 will solve these problems. Seriously.. BT headset not working.. what year is this? 2001? Screwing up such a basic phone feature is as bad as I dunno playing the default ringtone randomly!! I jest, but still something is very wrong when the two flagship devices (Nokia billed the BH-905 as the best headset ever!) don't work properly.. shocking!!!
Does anyone else have these problems with bluetooth headsets on the N97 or perhaps on other Nokia devices?
How about syncing? I take it everyone here can sync only new tracks when they connect their phone?

I am convinved there's something messed up with the N97's BT Audio stack.  I have the Blue & Me BT audio system in my Grande Punto and it worked perfectly with my N95, problematic on the iPhone when Apple messed something up in a firmware update but later fixed and worked fine, but the N97 struggles to connect automatically when I get in the car and turn on the ignition.  I have to either turn the N97 bluetooth off and back on again or manually connect the N97 to Blue & Me.
I really am hoping that Nokia get it all fixed in 2.0.

  • InDesign problems on Macbook Air running Lion.

    HI folks,
I have recently purchased a 2011 Macbook Air, running Lion. I have a copy of Indesign CS4 that I am trying to get running on this machine. I previously had it activated on my macbook pro and had no problems. I deactivated it from that computer and have activated it on the new machine. After creating a new document in InDesign I find that I get the beach ball and it won't do anything. Have any of you had a similar experience? Do any of you know the solution to this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    James.

Well, you haven't given us lots of detail - but only because there aren't that many details anyways, right?
Did you install from the original media? (It never would have occurred to me to just drag apps off one machine and drop them on another, but people do this sometimes.)
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall? (That's what I'd do first if a fresh install of a program was borked from the very beginning.)
Have you tried it as a new user? (If it works in a new user account, then the problem is with your user account, not with your install of ID.)
There are other things to try - search the forums for removing the SING datastore, or resetting preferences - but really the uninstall/reinstall should make it work right off the bat, and it also should take less time than actually diagnosing the problem & fixing it.

  • Partition problem with Win 7 and Lion

I have a 2011 Mac Mini with two hard drives - the original 500GB drive and a SSD.   The SSD is laid out as follows:
    $ diskutil list
    /dev/disk0
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *60.0 GB    disk0
       1:                        EFI                         209.7 MB   disk0s1
       2:                  Apple_HFS OSX Lion SSD            19.0 GB    disk0s2
       3:                 Apple_Boot Recovery HD             650.0 MB   disk0s3
       4:       Microsoft Basic Data BOOTCAMP W7             40.2 GB    disk0s4
It has my two bootable operating systems and works fine (for now) so I am happy to leave it alone.
The problem is with the second drive.  It has:
    1) EFI partition 200M
    2) Original Lion install 40G HFS+
    3) Original recovery partition 650M
    4) Space set aside for OSX HFS+ 160G (has some big files in it)
    5) Space set aside for Windows NTFS 300G (no files in it yet)
I think there is a problem with MBR vs GPT and Disk Utility vs Disk Management.
Disk Utility or fdisk calls it
    /dev/disk1
       #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER
       0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *500.1 GB   disk1
       1:                        EFI                         209.7 MB   disk1s1
2:       Microsoft Basic Data                         37.6 GB    disk1s2 (these entries are wrong)
       3:       Microsoft Basic Data                         650.0 MB   disk1s3
       4:       Microsoft Basic Data                         161.5 GB   disk1s4
5:       Microsoft Basic Data NTFS stuff              300.1 GB   disk1s5 (this entry seems right)
and I cannot access the partitions in Lion.
    Gdisk calls it:
    GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.8.1
    Partition table scan:
      MBR: hybrid
      BSD: not present
      APM: not present
      GPT: present
Found valid GPT with hybrid MBR; using GPT.
    Disk /dev/disk1: 976773168 sectors, 465.8 GiB
    Logical sector size: 512 bytes
    Disk identifier (GUID): 0000303E-4D40-0000-1B4C-0000F9090000
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 34, last usable sector is 976773134
Partitions will be aligned on 8-sector boundaries
Total free space is 2061 sectors (1.0 MiB)
Number  Start (sector)    End (sector)  Size       Code  Name
       1              40          409639   200.0 MiB   EF00  EFI system partition
       2          409640        73900919   35.0 GiB    0700  Customer (name is wrong)
       3        73900920        75170455   619.9 MiB   0700  Recovery HD
       4        75170456       390588423   150.4 GiB   0700  stuff
       5       390590464       976773119   279.5 GiB   0700  Basic data partition (name is wrong)
Windows Disk Management is happy to see inside the HFS partitions, so I know all my files are at least still there.  I had a 5th NTFS partition formatted, but upon going into Lion and back, it disappeared.
I think ideally what I would like to have is a spare Lion + recovery partition on this drive in case my SSD barfs, then a big NTFS partition to hold my Windows files.  I guess merging the 40G OSX and 160G HFS+ partitions will be ok.  Could the problem be related to MBR having a limit of 4 partitions?  There isn't any data on this drive that isn't backed up, but I would rather do this partition fixing shuffle without having to restore big files.  Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I managed to fix the problem.  First I used Disk Utility to delete the NTFS partition.  It hung during the process, so I quit it, and the partition was deleted anyway.  Next, I used gdisk to change the partition type from 0700 to AF00 and AB00 for the Lion and Recovery partitions respectively.  It worked and I can access the partitions under OSX again.  Thanks, everybody, you've been super helpful.
