Problem Capturing with Canon FS200

Well, looks like I finally got a camera upgrade. So I went ahead and got a FS200, thinking it would work perfectly with Premiere. Except Premiere doesn't recognize the camera...
Help would be appreciated, thanks!

You cannot capture files from the camera.
Connect the camera or card to the pc and with the software provided with the camera copy your files to the pc. Then you can Import your files into Premiere.

I cannot get Premier Elements 7 to capture videos from my Canon HF 10 camera.
I am using Window Vista 64, Premier Elements 7 that I just installed, and a Canon Vixia HF 10 video camera.
The computer will identify the camera. I can import video using the Pixela ImageMixer software that came with the camera. And, I can capture the video into Premier Elements 7 once I have the video clip as a file on the computer.
Obviously, I would prefer to just directly capture the video with Premier Elements 7.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to resolve the problem?

    Ted,
    Welcome to the forum.
Now, I could not find your camera on the CanonUSA site. Is it a UK/European model? Looking at the US models with similar #'s, it appears that the only connection offered is USB 2.0. Is that correct?
If so, there will be one major problem. With a rare exception, PrE will only Capture via FireWire. If this camera does not have FireWire, then one must use other means to get the files onto the computer, and then into PrE. That is why it has been recommended that one use the included software to transfer the image files. This is an unfortunate fact of life. As the USB 2.0 connection is horribly slow, even on the fastest of computers, there will be the problem of how long this will take.
The decision to not include FW was one made my Canon. Many manufacturers are making the same decision, as it keeps costs down on their consumer cameras. It does not help the user, however, if they really wish to edit the footage. What would be a one-step process with a miniDV tape camera w/ FW is now at least a two-step process and a slow one at that.
There is likely not going to be any cure from Adobe's end, unless they rework the Capture module, or add a second USB one, and that will not be until PrE 8, if even then. [This is my prediction and not from any knowledge of Adobe's plans.]
    Good luck,

  • Problem capturing with Final Cut Pro 5.0

I seem to have a problem capturing to my new macbook with FCP 5.0 installed. I know how to capture and I've done it a million times before but this is the first time with this Mac.
I'm capturing from my MiniDV camera via firewire. I've checked if my scratchdiscs have enough room and it has plenty (250gb).
Everytime I go to capture, a box comes up that says "General Error" with no error code. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or what's wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Same problem with me. J just bought a macbook pro 2,33 Hz.
When I capture on my FCP 5.0.4 there is no problem but when I push the " esc" button to close the capture he FCP crashes. Help me I bought the Macbook pro to edit on location and now I can't capture.
I use a DSR11 of sony to capture. Fire wire input (SD PAL)
Even I use a XD-cam same problem no capture.
    HELP ME PLEASE !!!

  • Strange Problem capturing with Apple Intermediate Codec

    We have the following problem:
We capture with a blackmagic decklink studio card (but I could reproduce the same problem using a MacBook Pro and the internal camera) with a MacPro and CS4. When capturing a live video feed (1280x720) with the apple intermediate codec (set to 29.97fps or to 59.94fps) everything seems to work just fine. But the resulting videoclips happen to be exactly ONE half of the total capture time. So if we capture in Premiere for about 1 our the clip is only 30 minutes long. If we capture for 10 sec., the clip will be 5 sec. long. It's not that the captured clips play with double the framerate. Half of the actual footage is missing.
    Any suggestions?
By the way: we live in a PAL50Hz country, but our video signal that needs to be recorded comes in as a 60hz signal.

    Hi,
Well I did some googling...and I would bet that the problem is the 50hz vs 60hz...
Unfortunately most if not all info I got that even BRUSHES on this subject with the sort of material you're dealing with is the opposite....where they are in 60cycle land with pal stuff....rather than in pal land dealing with 60hz ...
This is a lot of misc stuff but if you get a little bit of info from various posts and make some notes you might be able to get an idea how to solve the problem...
In particular I was looking at how frames are flagged and new frames are created later ...( toward very end of these posts - the last four or so )
Also noted some timecode reading that was "doubled"....so if your deck thought you had a specific length and then it read the timecode doubled, it would be your problem in a nutshell...  have you checked the last frame you captured and compare that timecode to the overall length ??
anyway, here is a TON of stuff to breeze through...good luck...
THIS IS EDIUS RELATED..so keep in mind re: specific presets etc

    Hi chaps,
Can I just confirm that the SDI/HDMI outputs are only live in build 14? I'm on 13 and going SDI - HDLINK - DELL24" gives me nothing. I'm in PAL land so have tried switching between 50hz and 59hz in camera.
So do I need build 14 or is it something else?

I'm in NTSC land but that same setup gives me picture just fine. Which Dell model is it? Is everything set up right from the camera side?

    Hi Steve,
I believe so. Set to Preview in th viewfinder settings, plugged in on preview mini sdi, cam set to 50hz..
    Anything I'm missing?
    Cheers
To counter this, the AJ-HD1400 offers two modes specifically for this called '25(SD)' and '25(HD)'. They output the 25fps signal with new timecode on a 50Hz carrier (only over SDI/Analogue the Firewire doesn't work in that mode).
It only works with 25fps material too, any other 'offspeed' rate has to be dealt with separately with the deck operating in 59/60 mode.
When operating in either of these 25 modes, the deck generates new 25fps timecode from the tape (although our tests have indicated that it is frame accurate of multiple playback passes).
Basically, Varicam, while a very nice idea, has only ever been properly designed to work in a 60Hz environment. It is pretty much a nightmare in 50Hz environments.
I think I may have found the cause of the problem.
For some reason when I started my project it had a Device Control profile set to 720p50 (rather than the 1080i50 that the deck is operating in).
What this seems to have done is double the frame number on any clip it encountered. So if I took a clip with in marked at 01:02:40:22 and dropped it in the Log and Capture tool the In Point that FCP decided to look for was 01:02:40:44 (which isn't going to exist on a 25fps timecode obviously).
    Since you are using Pal
    Go :
    Generic OHCI HD 50hz -> 960x720 25p over 60p
Because if I am right you can't do Pal over 60hz but you can do PAL over 60P at 50hz.
( but I could be wrong)
But the other problem is that you are using an ntsc profile to capture pal recorded footage.
    50 hz 960x720 over 60P yields a frame rate of 25 progressive
60 hz 960x720 59.94p yields a frame rate of 59.94 progressive which is far from your original footage . Mostly used for countries using natively ntsc
Neither myself, nor Ricksta (I don't think) are using NTSC-rate profiles.
The Preset setting I've been testing with is:
    Generic OHCI HD 50Hz 960x720 25p over 60p
Indeed, I've just tried what Rick mentioned, and with the deck in 59.94Hz operating frequency, I can capture with all three 720p 59/60 input settings. This is technically wrong however, as the tape has been recorded at 60Hz. But like I said before, until Rick hears from the big geeks at Panasonic about this, I don't know what the real outcome of that difference in frequency is.
I've also tried a 50p over 60p project setting (as 720p50 is what I will be editing with in Avid) - but, predictably, this works but gives me double-speed footage. Which, while amusing, isn't a lot of help for me
A large part of the problem I'm facing here is to do with the Varicam format. It will record any framerate from 1-60fps. It has to operate and a system-frequency of 59.94Hz or 60Hz. That is what Rick and I are referring to. The limitation I face is that the Varicam format is not widely supported for PAL-based rates (25/50) as it requires communication with a deck operating in an NTSC-based system frequency (either 60Hz or 59.94Hz). This difference (between project/timeline framerates, and deck operating frequencies) is enough to ensure that IEEE1394/Firewire/OHCI capture is not possible in these modes in Final Cut Pro, Avid (any version) or any other NLE I have found.
We realise that the framerate and frequency we're working in has to be 50-based, and we're not making any mistakes in that respect.
So far Edius is the only NLE on the market, that I have been able to find, that supports Firewire capture from 60Hz DVCPro HD material in a 50Hz based framerate.
When you have captured the file in that project select a clip in the bin press alt+enter go to video info and tell me what the framerate is .
In a 50p over 60p project, when I capture footage shot 25p over 60 with the 'Constant Rate' capture profile I get a clip in the bin that is 50fps, but that plays at doubletime - which is what I'd expect.
I can change the framerate in the properties to 50fps, and it plays at the correct rate, but I'm not happy with the way to refactors the timing in that mode. It seems to create interpolated frames to fill the gaps, which provide an unusual appearance that I don't really like.
At present if I capture into 25p over 60p project, then import the resulting 25p footage into Avid, Avid doubles up the frames to produce 50fps material.
Some clarification here. The Varicam does indeed record at a constant 60fps. If the frame rate is set to 25fps for example it simply flags the active frames. This flag is carried in the vertical interval data. The reason for this system, is as suggested, it is very difficult to vary the speed of tape in a helical scan recording system. With the advent of solid state recording that Panasonic introduced in the AG-HVX200 it is now possible of course to only record the active (native) frames and this would be called 25pn for example.
Originally with the Varicam you used to use a device called a Frame Rate Converter. This box contained a hard drive with HD-SDI I/O. It would recognize the active "flagged" frames in the incoming signal and buffer them through the hard drive and then play them out at the correct frame rate.
More recently NLE's such as Avid, FCP and Edius have incorporated this flagged frame recognition and perform the extraction automatically. Thus when I tested a 25fps Varicam ingest on a 25 Frame timeline I am getting realtime playback. If I had recorded at 50fps and I placed that on a 25 frame timeline I would have very smooth half speed. Also the newer DVCPRO HD decks such as the AJ-HD1700 and AJ-HD1400 have the ability to decode "on-speed" frame rates such as 30fps, 25fps and 24fps.
The issue that Dylan is facing is that the NLE's will not accept a firewire input at 60Hz, they only accept it at 59.94, this is a .001 frequency difference and should be negligible. The other alternative is to ingest via HD-SDI via a Black Magic or AJA Kona card etc. These boards also support the variable frame rate function.
I hope that this helps clear things up a little.

    Panasonic New Zealand Ltd.
Further to what Rick is saying... The issues with most NLEs for PAL users is the disparity between the 59.94/60Hz operating frequency of the deck and the 50Hz based framerates the applications are working with in PAL framerates.
As for the constant 60fps - it is indeed recording 60 images per second to a tape, but as I said before, only a certain number are unique - only the flagged frames. In 25fps, the camera samples the sensor 25 times a second and records that frame to tape. Essentially you get frame 1 recorded for 2 frames, frame 2 recorded for the next three frames, frame 3 recorded for 2 frames, etc... The first frame with each unique image is 'flagged'. To rebuild the recorded framerate, only the flagged images are captured.
The big bonus of Edius for me here is that it can capture the PAL framerates from the 59.94Hz deck over Firewire directly. Something that Avid and FCP are unable to do.

  • Problem capturing with PD170

    Hi there.
I just bought a sony pd170, I have been using Final Cut for months and capturing with my old camera (A miniDV (really small) JVC camcorder) with no problem.
But now, im trying to capture using my PD170, and in the preview windows I dont see a thing, when a click play there, the program stops working until I press stop (on the camera).
When I click capture, the black window comes visible, the camera plays, but the window says "locaing timecode", and seems to stop working until I disconnect the camero from he computer.
PLEASE HELP me, and sorry for my english.
    BYE...
    iMacG5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   I Love IT!

If the pd-170 does not capture in iMovie, the problem is likely the camera. iMovie does not use Quicktime and is about as basic a file transfer as possible.
    Try this:
    Turn everything off-
Plug in the pd-170 to the computer and turn the camera on
    turn on the computer
Go to the blue apple in the upper left corner of the menu bar and select "About this Mac" (or the equivilent if you are not running english as the main language)
    Then select "more info"
    Look for the item "Hardware>firewire"
You should see a listing for the camera. If it does not appear, your camera is not being found by the computer. since your other camera does work, it is highly likely you have a firewire port issue with the camera. If that is the case, it is time to have the camera checked out by a service center.
FWIW - Hot swapping (aka plugging and unplugging cameras with both the computer and the camera running) can fry a port.

  • Having issues with playback and capture with canon's hdv XLH1

We have the sony hdv deck for capture, but we recently got the canon hdv xlh1.
When we try to capture or playback on the sony deck using a tape with canon footage, it stutters and drops frames, anyone else having issues with this? Deck control is non existant when we hook up the canon to the system.

Well... yes and no... Canon's 60i will play thru the sony machine, and it will play from the camera on thru FCP, but without deck control. Everything else the canon shoots aka HDV (30p and 24p), the Sony deck will not play correctly at all. We just happened to have the Canon rep at our FCP user's group tonight, and this is what he reported. ALSO he said that FCP will be supporting this new format shortly... (whatever that means... LOL...) The camera itself is not currently supported by FCP.
It does have an interesting feature though. If you have a Kona 2 card and an audio card, you can capture from the camera true HD in 4:2:2 color space. It has an SDI HD output.. but doesn't carry the audio with it. Course this isn't a "cheap" workaround for now because you'd also need an extremely fast disk array to capture the HD. and an audio card, and an HD video capture card... yikes. That Panny P2 camera lookin pretty good right now eh?

  • Are there problems capturing with Quicktime 7.3.1?

Are there still problems capturing video on FCP or Xpress using Quicktime 7.3.1. or later?
I'm using Quicktime 7 which does work, but for some time any newer version of Quicktime would not capture video more than 5 mins.
    Has that problem been solved?

I'm going to have to disagree with you.
I've gone through every upgrade of QT 6 and 7 without issues. Am I lucky or do I just keep a clean system with no added junk or simply edit mainstream formats while staying away from Facebook/YouTube/fringe consumer formats? Who knows what keeps my machines happy? But they are.
Specific updates of QT did not break EVERY installation of Final Cut. If you have a specific issue with a specific piece of software (ie FCE) , its best to ask questions in the forum dedicated to that software.
Of course, it's always best to let the early adopters suffer and if your machine is working fine, don't upgrade anything.
    Good luck.

  • Problems Capturing with my Panasonic DVX100A

Good Day, (I have posted this problem in the past and have had little help)
I have a Panasonic DVX100A camera, a 500 gig-24 inch iMac (under a year old), and a Macbook Pro (almost 2 years old) Both computers have the Leopard OS.
Here's the problem: When I try to capture the footage from my Panasonic DVX100A onto FCE on my iMac, FCE says, "Unable to initialize video deck..." So I go to the easy set up function as I have read in previous threads.
In the FORMAT tab, I click, "DV/Panasonic DVCPRO" and continue on. As I try each setting under the USE tab, I get the same message saying:
"Unable to locate the following external devices: Apple Firewire NTSC (720 x 480)
Your system configuration may have been changed...."
I understand FCE cannot recognize my Panasonic Camera in any way, so I open iMovie 08 and try to capture my footage that way. Here's where it gets interesting - iMovie 08 on my iMac also doesn't recognize my Panasonic camera BUT iMovie 08 on my Macbook Pro does!
So what I've been doing for the past few months is capturing my footage in iMovie 08 on my Macbook Pro and transferring it via Firewire to my iMac - then importing it to FCE where I can edit the footage.
Does anyone know why my iMac will not recognize my Panasonic DVX100A in any program, yet my Macbook Pro does recognize it in iMovie 08?
    and
Is there any advice as to what I can change/programs I can install/or anything I need to do for my iMac to start recognizing my camera so I don't need to do this ridiculous procedure every time I want to capture my footage and edit it with FCE?
    Please help!

    Tom,
Im not too sure what the exact media on the tapes are, or where to find that but what I do know is that I use many different brands of Mini DV such as Fuji Film, TDK and Maxell. I don't have the technical skills attached with years of filming but I do know that all of my settings on the camera are turned off - in regards to recording mode, my "DV OUT" on my camera is turned ON.
As for the presets in FCE, (the "EASY SET UP" option) I have tried them ALL and none of them seem to make any difference. And as for the firewire, the camera has a 4 pin firewire port and the iMac computer is a 6 pin. Im not too sure how much more info you want.
The problem is, my camera - with the firewire attached to the Macbook Pro, is recognized in iMovie 08 and has no problem transferring the data, even with the exact same preference settings on both computers - yet the iMac won't recognize it in iMovie 08. I don't have FCE on my laptop so I don't know if it would recognize it as well on my Macbook.
Another thing I should mention, is that I have an older JVC camcorder that records on the same DV tapes, and works perfectly well in FCE on my iMac. I attach the firewire and it's recognized and transfers the data perfectly. (I was told that you should record the footage, and playback the footage on a computer with the same device for best capturing results. So filming it on my DVX100A and playing it back in FCE on my JVC has been an option as well - but still a silly way to work with my gear.)
The variable here, to me, seems to be my iMac and its compatibility to the Panasonic camera. The JVC works on both computers but the Panasonic only works on the laptop. I have also searched other video forums for this kind of problem, but I have had no luck. People have told me it works great on their computers.
Does this help clarify my problem?
    Thanks

  • Problems printing with Canon Pixma ip 2600

I'm having a strange printing issue with my newly installed Canon printer. If I print from Mail or Print Explosion, the document comes out very pale (black is light gray, red is pale pink, etc.) It almost looks like I was printing in grayscale, altho colors do print out. When I print from Word or Excel, the documents look fine. Has anyone got a solution for this? The tech support at Canon has no idea what may be the problem.
I had a similar problem with another Canon printer; one Excel workbook would always print pale. All the others were fine.

  • Problems print with Canon i850/ which driver?

Ever since I installed Leopard, I have had printing problems with the color on my Canon i850 printer. Usually this has to do with magenta. If cleaned the printer, etc., and didn't have this problem in Tiger. Sometimes magenta will print in some colors, like purple, but sometimes it will print red, or will print red as green. I looked under System Preferences and there are two printers, an i850 and an i850 Gutenprint...which one should I be using? I am using the i850. Why is it that if I have red in a document, one place it may print and another it won't and the same red is selected? Also, where is the printer driver stored? Anyone also have any ideas on a great printer with Leopard? I do mostly black and white, but do color for pictures, not a huge amount, Xmas letters, etc. Just want a reliable, economical printer that the ink isn't outrageous, or is color laser the best? Any ideas or help will be appreciated! Thanks.

The printing of red as green doesn't sound right. Green is made from cyan and yellow. Red is made from magenta and yellow. So to get green instead of red doesn't sound like a cartridge/print head is faulty, which is sometimes the case for these types of problems. It sounds like you either have a driver problem or a colour management issue.
The i850 driver you are using is the Canon supplied version. Since this is giving you trouble, then I would try the Gutenprint version. If that still causes colour issues, then the colour management is most likely at fault. Did you upgrade from Tiger or do a fresh install?
As for the driver location, have a look at ./Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinters for the Canon driver. Will need to check the Gutenprint location (I'm at home on Tiger). Maybe someone else can chip in...
Re the new printer, I can vouch for the Canon iP5300. It has a large black tank for text printing and separate C M Y K tanks for photos.
Colour laser gives better text printing, but the photos aren't as good. Also, the purchase price is often more, although the toner cartridges have higher yields than ink. Have a look at this link

  • Problem capturing with JVC GY HD100

Quite a few posts out there about similar problems but I haven't seen any post with this exact problem.
When I capture video using my JVC GY HD100 camera, in FCP 6.0.4, it automatically cuts the intake into smaller files(i didn't film different clips, i filmed a stand-up comedian and shot everything on one go). But it cuts the whole film lots of times and furthermore about 6 seconds of film disappears after between these clips.
When I capture it in Adobe premiere (still on my Mac Pro ) there is no problem whatsoever. But I prefer using FCP!
It's such a hassle and I hope somebody has a good solution.
    +Thank you!+

I haven't had this problem with mine yet (actually no problems at all). But I do know that FC splits into different clips footage any time the JVC "pauses", rather than just when there is a time-code break on the tape. And when digitizing from the camera, it does loose about 6 seconds for the tape mechanism in the camera to shuttle around, and ramp up speed. But if you didn't pause the camera I'm not sure.
Check out this site too. They have A LOT of JVC specific trouble shooting with FC.

  • Problems capture with decklink

    Hi All,
    I have a problem in captured files with Premiere CS4 and CS5 with BlackMagic Decklink;
The problem is ever present but sometime is more visible sometime less, it seems like a grid over the movie where the colors degrades, with regular step (arround 8x8 pixerl grid).
Now I am capturing in DV-SD PAL format (from an SDI source), capturing in DVCPro or Uncompressed the problem is quite invisible.
I tryed to change a lot of Decklink devices (also device version) and a lot of drivers version, but the problem still be..
Have you some idea? what may I check?
    Thank you in advance
(Try to see the problem in the attached file)

    Thanx Roger,
but I saw the grid over the Clip also when played with WMPlayer or other...
on the next days I will post other screenshot with various test in different

I see the same thing with any SD material, captured via a Decklink card or

AFAIK, it has to do with how Pr renders the video for the Source/Program
panels and the captured video and the exported video looks perfect when
watched outside Pr CS4/CS5. Playback the footage in Blackmagic Media Express
to see if you see any difference, or export a still image from the
Source/Program panel and open it either Photoshop or MS Paint to see how it
looks, IE if the grid is still present or not. How does the footage looks on
your preview monitor attached to the Decklink card?

  • Capturing with Canon 7d footage CONFUSION

I am having some confusion with mpeg stream clip and the EOS plug in. I just need some questions answered.
    1. Is there anything else I need to buy to to transfer clips onto my computer to keep full quality?
    2. Is it normal to use the USB plug in (that comes with the camera) to upload all clips into IPHOTO, then import the clips to mpegstreamclip OR EOS plug in?
    3. Do I need a card reader?
    4. Which is better/faster mpegstreamclip or EOS plug in?
    5. When I do import a clip how do I know what I filmed it as EXAMPLE- Was in 60fps, 24fps, etc. I tend to forget how I originally filmed each clip.
    6. How does log and transfer work and come into play?
Overall I would greatly appreciate and detailed walkthrough.

    Hi Kenji,
    1 Yes - you'll need a SDHC card reader
2 No - use a card reader and the EOS plugin
    3 see 1
4 Haven't used MPEG streamclip for this, always used the EOS plugin
    5 See 6
6 Once you have a card reader and the EOS plugin installed just open the log and transfer window and you'll see your clips. Just select the clips you want to transfer. You can see what fps you used once captured in the browser window.

  • How can I capture film clips from my Canon FS200 camcorder into my computer?

I've captured film clips from my Canon FS200 camcorder before so you can understand how frustrated I now feel not being able to do it today. I have just one 30-second clip on the memory card. It plays on my camcorder but I cannot transfer the clip to my computer.
I have an HP desktop computer that's two years old with plenty of hard drive space. I've tried capturing using the memory card inserted into the computer and I've tried using the USB2.0 port. Nothing works anymore. I used to capture with ease using Windows Movie Maker or Photo Gallery.
In the past when the capture was successful I would import the clips into Magix Edit Pro 16 for editing. I could never capture directly into this program though. I hope someone can help me out.

In Windows Movie Maker and Photo Gallery I click on Import From Device or Import Photos and Videos. A box appears but it is empty. The message above the box is, "if you do not see your device..." click Refresh. Refresh doesn't do it.
When I try to import with Magix Edit Pro 16 (a German video editing program) I get the message: "Magix could not connect to selected device."
I have run out of options. I don't know what else to do. This Friday I'm going to do some filming at a ballroom dance but I'm pessimistic about being able to capture the raw video to my computer.
This is an edit later in the day. Now I can capture into Photo Gallery and then into Windows Movie Maker or Magix. But I can only do this with the USB 2.0 connection. When I put the memory card into the computer slot, nothing happens. It used to work. Anyway, I'm glad I can finally do some practice editing again. I'm just in the learning stage with anything graphic.

  • Problem with Canon iPF8300

Hi everyone, I've got a problem with my Canon iPF8300 and Photoshop CC.
I've installed  the latest drivers (3.01), last OS (10.8.5) and last Photoshop (14.1.1).
I cannot print on a A3+ sized paper, the printers print only a piece of the image, like it was set a bigger paper size, but I double checked that.
I had to play with the AppColorMatchingInfo.xml and add Photoshop CC to the list of apps, becuase before that I couldn't even print at all. The print received the command but all the jobs went on the job queue but didn't print.
With Canon Plugin I can print without any problem, but the plugin misses the Adobe CMM...
    Any workaround?
    Thanks

    First clarify this statement...
I captured video, and when I went on FCP and did log and capture, it said the camcorder was offline.<</div>
Have you already captured with this camera or are you trying to capture with it now?
If you're trying to capture with it now, are you capturing to an external harddrive? If so, the problem may be because you're overtaxing your FW bus.
If you're not already, you might try capturing to your internal (so the iMac is only accessing the camera on the single FW bus), then transfer the media to an external to edit.
Does the iMac recognize the camera? (check in System Profiler)
Is the camera in playback mode?
Have you tried shutting down and making sure your camera is on before opening FCP?
