Problem caused with appt times by changing calendar time zone support?

I've got a 30Gb iPod Touch, version 4.0.2.
I've always kept the Settings' Date & Time timezone for the correct location, but it was only a while back that I realized that there was also a Time Zone under the Settings, Calendar, and so I changed it so that it was correct (it was previously set to Kabul, AF time, and it was then changed to Ottawa, ON time).
I'm thinking that this may have messed up all my future appointments, as my appointments have been switched to midnight or somewhere near it, for the day prior to when the appointment was supposed to have been. I can't think of anything else that would be causing this, and didn't see this exact problem occurring for anyone else when I did a search of the discussions.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening and what I can do to set it right?

Hi Cindiii,
Time zone support has often been a point of contention and confusion for many users. Unfortunately, there is no simple fix at the present time. Do you have any idea as to why you touch was set to Kabul? Did you buy it new? If not, perhaps the last user had it set to this time?
In any case, Calendar does allow for its own time zone settings. This is to allow the user to create events for his/her home time zone while traveling. Even if your system time zone reflects the current time zone that you are in, appointments added to Cakendar will show up in the time zine that you choose based in the time zone you set in the Calendar settings.
This definitely sets up conflicts if you are trying to schedule an appointment that is outside of your home time zone. Now that you have switched the time zone in your Calendar settings to your home time zone, there is nothing you can do about the events already created. As I see it, you have only two options:
1. Change the time zone back to Kabul time and view your events as though they were your local time, or
2. Leave the time zone in the Calendar settings to your home time zone and either time adjust the events in your head (knowing the time difference), or manually changing them to the correct time one by one.
I'm sorry this doesn't provide you with a magic solution, but I really don't see any other alternatives.

  • Changing calendar time numbers

I'm trying to develop this online booking page and I'm using this calendar that can be seen on the page. When one clicks on the dates on the calendar, the user can sect from various times. The times appear as a 24 hour clock (4pm=16:00). I would like things to appear as a 12 hour clock. I would like 4pm to show as "4pm" or "4:00pm" or ideally "4-6pm.
    Here is the page:

  • Change server time will change database time?

If a change my unix hour (because summer hour) the database will change without any commands or i need to do something?
    Tks,
    Elber.

Yes, SYSDATE will pick up the underlying operating system's date and time.
If you are changing the time zone in which the server resides, though, make sure that the operating system time zone and the database time zone are in sync if you are using any TIMESTAMP columns.

  • My time capsule change the time on ALL my files by one hour.

On the 29th December all the files on my time capsule went out of sync with my mac by one hour. I use it for backup. I have other backups on a Lacie drive and these were all OK but because it went forward in time my syncronise software saw them all as changes and started copying from the time capsule to my iMac. I stopped it and after recovering the damage it had done I proceeded to copy ALL my data back to the time capsule to reset the syncronise error.
Its been OK since then but this morning it all went wrong again. It started by my backup failing because the network share was not accessable so I went into my backup scripts(chronosync) and reselected the backup drive. I then did a trial sync and lo and behold the whole lot is back out of sync again and this time they have gone back in time.
Did we enter British summer time in the middle of winter or did the earth tilt on its access and caused the UK to be in The NEtherlands? Or did Apple do something that I cant resolve.
Anyone else having similar problems? Ive been googling this and thought I had found it by installing Airport Uitlity 5.6 but I cant do that as I have upgraded all my machines to MOuntain Lion and its not compatible. I think on 5.6 you can adjust the time zone setting.
I need to tell the time capsule which time zone it is in and all shoudl be OK

    Bob
Thanks for that   - Airport utility 5.6 is now working but I cannot see anything wrong. It possibly went wrong on the 29th December and has just gone back to normal again so I think I will have to let the backup recopy all the files.
I looked in the logs and found
No Address for NTP server time.apple.com. and then on Jan 08 at 09:49:38 I got
Clock synchronized to network time server time.apple.com (adjusted +3597 seconds). (thats my hour!!!)
Question no is why - could be a DNS problem but why on the 29th and back on the 8th Jan.
Nothing changed in my network router, maybe something at the ISP.
Anyway now copying all the data back to the time capsule.
By the way I have my DNS as my router 192.168.1.1 and 208.67.222.222 - when I look at my router the DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 which is what my ISP told me to use. Maybe I should put 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 in the DNS for the time capsule?

  • Problem with iphone 5 changing the time

Has anyone had an issue with the iphone 5 changing the time. It does it whether it is set up for automatic time or manual. I have to constantly on a daily basis change to the correct time.

Here is one of the links I was talking about https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4347494?tstart=120. It has been discussed a great deal, but I'm not so sure of a solution. You might take the time to read through this. I don't have a Verizon phone, so it has not impacted me. Good luck.

  • Time settings in Calendar ?

Having trouble with the times in calendar...  I know this might sound simple but every time I make an entry on my calendar (I'm in CST) it posts the time in PST...  I have the date and time in settings set to Central,  anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

I turned on time zone support, opened individual events (that had been set in Central time) and changed the time zone to floating. When I set time zone support to Pacific time, every event I had manually changed to floating displayed correctly - but events I did not manually change still moved backwards two hours.
That's the expected behaviour.  It assumes that events created in Missouri will occur in Missouri.  When you are in Seattle it corrects the time, so you won't miss the event if you use a live video feed or phone in.
I have hundreds of events in my calendar, do I really have to open each one up and change it to floating?
You should change each event to the time zone of the event's location.  Floating should be reserved for events that have no fixed location.  e.g. if you want to schedule lunch for noon wherever you happen to be.
At the top of the calndar window you can set the view time zone.  For example, while in Missouri you can set it to Pacific to see what you schedule will look like when you go to Seattle.

  • ICloud Calendar Time Issues

Does iCloud not know there is a 1 hour time difference between Brisbane and Sydney, every year between October and April ???
My iPhone and iPad calendars are 1 hour out from iCloud calendar when signed in on Mac, despite being set to Brisbane Time. My Mac has the correct time also. When I re set  it using the little map it just keeps defaulting to Sydney, Eastern Standard Time and changing the times I have entered by one hour ? I will contact Apple tomorrow or am I missing something obvious here ?

Try adding a new event on your phone then check your calendar on icloud.com from a computer to see if the event appears there.  If not, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar.  Here, make sure you have selected an iCloud calendar as your defult (and not something else like On My iPhone, Gmail, Yahoo, an exchange account calendar, etc.)  After setting your iCloud calendar as your default, try adding an event again to see if it appears on icloud.com now.
If your default account setting is correct and it still doesn't sync to icloud.com, add any missing events from your phone's calendar to icloud.com.  After the calendar on icloud.com is up to date, on your phone go to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, then after a minute or so turn Calendars back to On.  Then try adding a new event on your phone again and see if it appears on your calendar on icloud.com now.
Once you phone is syncing properly, go through these same steps on your iPad.

  • IPhone Date & Time keeps changing to "Cupertino"  time zone

    Hi
Every time i change my Time Zone in Settings>General>Date & Time to "London,United Kingdom" it correctly changes to "London" but if i exit Settings and navigate back to Time Zone settings it has changed to "Cupertino".
This effects World Clocks and other apps which is most annoying.
I have firmware 2.0(5A345) installed on the iPhone. Is there a way to upgrade this? Will i lose all my current data if i do a firmware upgrade? Will it even fix the issue?
Please help, there are currently 2 options I have. Find a fix or move to Cupertino so that my iPhone displays the correct time.
Is there a less drastic option?
    Thanks in advance!

If i do that it states that i am running the current version. Maybe because it is a revision and not a proper update.
My twin brother also has the the version that you have (54347).
Apparently it updates the firmware when you do a "Restore" through itunes but that will wipe the phone clean of everything. I don't mind doing this as long as i can transfer my backed-up content but if i do a "Restore from backup" to tranfer all my settings etc i have a feeling it will revert it back to the firmware that the iphone was running when it was backed up. Hope that makes sense!
    Thanks

Im traing to renew VPN but store ask me to update my bill information now they charge me three time for changing only

Each time that you add or change the credit card details on your account then you will receive a small temporary store holding charge to check that the card details are valid and that the card is active - the 'charge' should disappear within a few days.

  • Sorry, but "Time Zone Support" confuses me

I've read the Support articles and I'm still confused.  Heer's what I want to do.
I want to enter a 9am event in San Francisco, and a 7pm dinner in NYC.  I want to enter them as 9am and 7pm.  I'd like to have my iPad (and iPhone) automatically set the local time wherever I am - so the device shows me the correct local time - but NOT to change the times in my Calendar.  I will enter those times correctly for each time zone.
    How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance.

Here's what solved my problem: NOT checking Set Time Automatically, and NOT checking Set Time Zone Automatically.  Then manually selecting the proper time zone and city.
Doing that displays the correct local time, without changing iCal times.

  • Negative time management to positive time management

    Hi Experts
our client is following negative time management now. They would
like to implement positive time management from now onwards.
please suggest how i'll do this for my client.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Firstly, your client has to decide how the entry exit timings of the employees are going to be captured, and then load them into SAP. The timevents will be updated in IT2011.
One way is to have a third party capture all the events from recording terminals located on the site, have a RFC to get these events to SAP. The time events can then be uploaded into the infotype table TEVEN (IT2011). These programs shud also be scheduled in the backgrnd to run either daily or after sum intervals of time.
    In config,
You will have to change the groupings of PS & EE for time recording,
Change the time management status for these employees,
change the feature TMSTA to default the same status for new employees to be hired.
Maintain IT0050 for all employees. (necessary for +ve time)
Change the grouping for Attendance / Absence types
Have to check whether system reactions for time pair formations in system are as per clients requirements
Modify the time mangement schema (with clock times) according to the requirement.
Schedule a background job so that time evaluation is run for all employees once a day. (usually scheduled during the night)
These are some of the changes that I can think about right now hope this is helpful.
    Regards,
    Shreyasi.

my host name changes every few days, since Xmas adding a macbook its changed 6 times. Do I need to stop this? Does it cause problems with sharing between the iMac and macbook?

There are several possible causes for this problem.
    1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
    2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
    3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
    4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
    5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.
    6. See also this support article.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.
