Problem closing a Program (remains in status 'trying to end program')

After upgrading to OS Maverick, CrossOver issued an error message. Trying to finish the program didn't work, it continuous indicating it's trying to end it. Even after using the immediatly stopping function, it falls into the 'trying to end program' mode on opening CrossOver again. Any suggestions on how to solve it?

I would suggest force-quitting the application as detailed here. I hope this helps.

Sorry this is my first time in the Adobe forum. I pretty much asked everything in my title. The installation process took me several hours to finally get it loaded. Continually crashes my DVD player and I have to use a pin to open it to get to the disc. This is a new disc just purchased a few days ago. Read where this program has had its share of problems on the internet. After installing the program, it blinks continually for a long time before it ever opens. Rather annoying to say the least. Need this program to get me started in my work.
Will this program work even though it blinks for a long time when opening it? Seems to work, but since I am not that familiar with it, I really don't know just yet.

You're right. It wasn't QuickTime itself. I solved all the problems myself.
The main reason why QuickTime files weren't working was because the newest audio driver from Creative released July 2007 (using their autoupdate) is apparently for Windows Vista (it has the name Vista in the update title). Why that update showed up on my Windows XP Pro system, I have no idea. So, I went to Creative's site and got the driver before the latest release, and all works well.
The Microsoft update (from June 2007, I noticed today, not July) is another issue. It's based around the file P17RunE.dll, which is something from Microsoft for the SoundBlaster. Not sure what it does, but I don't need it.

When trying to open Photoshop it crashes when
the display window is trying to open and the text:
BUILDING MARK TWAIN
is showing. Then it crashes never making it to
the actual program.
I've tried uninstalling the program and installing
the program several times with no luck.

This is actually Photoshop Elements forum. try posting it on Photoshop forum.
In case you have some scanner/printer etc installed in the machine it might be causing issue. Try launching with none of the devices attached and anti virus disabled.

It seems like due to some unknown reason permission from the Licensing folder is removed. Please try launching any of the apps by right clicking and select Run as an Administrator, it should fix the issue by doing that.

Problem closing iTunes - iTunes.exe hanging.

I have been having a problem restarting iTunes EXCEPT on a reboot or by manually ending the iTunes.exe process. iTunes.exe is hanging.....it is not using any CPU, but memory usage reduces to about 95,000k, and, of course, I have to end the process before I can restart iTunes.
I finally figured out that this problem occurs only when I have been streaming music through Apple Express. In other words, Apple Express is preventing iTunes from closing.

I experimented around and reformated, and began reinstalling programs one by one as a test, starting first with iTunes. It worked just fine. Low and behold, the next program I installed was my antivirus/spyware program. It recreated the problem I had been having for the last year or so. I tried putting exceptions in the application configuration, but that didn't make any difference. Surprisingly, even stopping/disabling the program didn't work either. Completely uninstalling the program did - meaning there were conflicts between the installed components of the Antivirus/spyware program and the iTunes/Airport Express. Now I've got to go find another spyware/antivirus program. But, the question remains, why should a antivirus/spyware program, disabled at that, ie, stopped, cause iTunes to hang after streaming music through Airport Express??? Strange.

Import Items Request remain in Status Pending Normal For a Long Period

Hi,
Import Items Concurrent Requests Remain in Status Pending Normal For a Long Period(30 minutes) Before Running.
It is actually completing within 10 minutes after pending normal for 30 minutes.
This problem is happening only with Import Items concurrent request, Other request are running as soon as they started.
My Application version: 12.1.3
Database Version:11.1.0.7
My Standard Manager details Processes=16 Sleep Time=10 Cache=40
Please correct, If there is need to change Standard Manager configuration...

Standard Manager is running this request, Import Item program request after the completion, creating Item categories for this it is taking time, that is the reason another import items request is waiting for the Item categories program to be completed.You need to find out why the "Item Categories" takes that long to complete.
Do you have the statistics up to date?
Enable trace as per these docs to find out why the request takes that long.

Jobs remain in status SCHEDULED

Hi all,
does anyone have an idea what to do when scheduled jobs which should run remain in status SCHEDULED instead of changing into RUNNING? The transaction run if started manually in the workbench.
I will restart MII but hoping to find another way to get the scheduler working. The system is MII 12.0.2.

Actually the save "trick" is the one that mostly cures those problems, but not in my case. The status is correctly set to PENDING after saving the job, but when started again, the job got stuck in status SCHEDULED instead of RUNNING. When I try to run the job directly from the Schedule Editor, it says it has run, but actually it didn't.
I have also tried to stop and start the scheduler, but no change.

I am having problems closing Photoshop Editor?

I cannot close this program on my iMac. Anyone else have this problem/ I can't even open it to view. It is open in the background somehow and cannot be accessed. I can't even uninstall because it tells me to close it and I can't? I can'y even put it in the trash. Anyone els have this problem. I am stuck I have tried everything.

NEVER try to put PSE in the trash unless you really like doing meticulous bit by bit manual cleanup.
Are you a new mac user? Any program that is running will appear in the dock. On a mac closing a program window doesn't usually quit the program; it just closes the window. Go to the dock and click hold on the PSE icon (it will have a little mark next to the icon showing that it's running, like all active programs). Choose quit from the contextual menu or just click the icon to bring it back to the fore and press cmd+Q to quit it.
You MUST use the uninstaller in the PSE folder in applications to uninstall PSE or you will make a big mess. PSE is not a tidy package like most mac apps and the installer strews stuff all over your hard drive. You need the uninstaller or many pieces will be left behind.

UIWebView cause "Program exited with status value:101"

My application uses both imagepickercontroller and UIWebView as subviews. it crashes frequently, I guessed the reason was related to imagepickercontroller at first, but after doing more testing , I found it is UIWebView cause crash and exit silently problem with message in console "Program exited with status value:101". I tried to write a simple test app which contains only a window and an UIWebView as subview to load pages with javascripts like maps.google.com, it exit silently always after opening such pages after a while. I also tested UICatalog on iPhone, get the same result. any ideas on this issues??

Error 101 means iPhone runs out of Memory and ends your application.
Set a breakpoint to the "applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning" function or however it is called exactly.
Also if you check object allocations and leaks with instruments you should be able to see a big memory footprint of your application.

have been a Verizon customer since I got my first cell phone in my 30's - I am 50 now! A year ago, I stupidly opted to get a new phone on the EDGE program because I was trying my first Samsung device and was not sure I would like it having been an IPhone user for years.I was right! Or so I thought.... The Note 3 has been horrible. I am on my second phone(replaced it under warranty) and it still freezes, shuts off on its own, and will not come back on for long periods of time. Having had enough, I decided to EDGE Up to another device. On March 16th I tried to edge up my device online but was unable to. I immediately called to figure out what the problem was. Back in October I had a mix up in my billing where I had set up a payment. It was not done properly by customer service and as a result my line was cut off. I called the EXACT day it went off, filed a complaint about the lack of follow through for my arranged payment, and thought I had it straightened out as the payment was made that same day. That incident, although it was a Verizon error, caused my Edge Contract to be "hotlined". I spent an hour on the phone on March 16th clearing the whole mess up. When the conversation ended, the Verizon representative admitted it was a Verizon error, documented everything, and then told me she was filing a release for the hotline hold that would take a couple of days. Her name was Linda and I stupidly trusted what she said.
The days passed as I prepared to have a major foot surgery and to get my classroom straight before I would be out recovering for 3 weeks. All the time, my Samsung continued to glitch out like it has since I got it! While sitting on the couch recovering, I decided to deal with the phone issue again and EDGE UP. I figured 10 days latter, Linda would have taken care of the issue. Unfortunately, I faced the same problem and was told it was not eligible to edge up at this time. BACK on the phone again, 2 supervisors, 3 customer service reps. ( JOE from New York being the rudest customer service rep. I have EVER worked with) and 4 frustrating HOURS latter, Jason, the equally rude supervisor from Rochester, New York, informed me that Linda gave me BAD information, there was NOTHING he could do, and I am NOT eligible until April 14th!!!!! The WORST experience I have EVER had with a company. They were completely inept, rude, and not concerned about my time, my frustration, or the problems I was facing with their product in the LEAST. I have 4 LINES on Verizon that I am going to talk to Sprint about buying out. It was a horrible experience, and I can NOT believe I have no recourse or anyone to talk to....

Edge has very clear restrictions, one being that you must have 6 months of clean payment history which you don't. Either wait until April 14, or good luck at Sprint.
I am unsure how it can be determined the payment mix up was the fault of CS, but regardless, the mix up was done. There can be any number of reasons why a payment could be missed without any fault on your part, however you are still the responsible party for the account and must live with the repercussions.

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion. I've done all that. I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password. I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password). My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do. His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume). We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections. They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired. Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit. My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely. The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed? I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard. I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update. Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?

I just recently reinstalled everything new to a new ssd drive but the same problem keeps recurring.

The current version of iTunes is 11.0.5 (5). How do you know it won't install? What error message(s) or other indicators lead you to say it won't install? Need some more information to help ....

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?
