Problem Closing Applications
I've just switched from PCs to mac and am running a brand new iMac. I've done the updates, purchased iWorks, Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac, and downloaded the latest drivers and software for my new HP printer. I've installed no other software at this point. Occasionally I'm unable to close a program (address book, mail, exel) and have to force quit. Any ideas or this normal for a new iMac.

So for example, you are in iPhoto and select “Quit iPhoto” from the iPhoto menu and the application menus still show for iPhoto, but the indicator light on the dock is off? If you click on the application icon on the dock does the application switch to that application immediately or does it relaunch it (relaunch takes longer)?
One other question, have you ever tried using the “Spaces” feature in 10.5? It has some quirky behavior that sometimes may not show the “Save unsaved changes” dialog box and this may prevent the application from quitting, while it is waiting for you to click one of the buttons, but you cannot because the window is not visible. This can happen even if the “Enabled” button in spaces is UNCHECKED.
Check the Spaces preferences in the System Preferences under the Apple menu. Select Expose & Spaces, click the Spaces tab and see if there are any applications in the Applications Assignments box. If there are, enable Spaces, remove the applications by selecting them and clicking the - (minus) button, and then unchecking the Enable button.

I have recently recieved a insurance replacement and restored my data from the memory card, ever since this everytime I opperate the slider it comes up with 'closing applications' and obviously it closes them, this is driving me insane. according to the file manager there's about 38mb free, the only applicaion that I have running constantly is the nokia push email client.

Cheersnext time don't restore settings because this causes problems. the problems a backup restore causes can be solved by resetting the phone. try a soft or a hard reset.
Factory settings reset. Type *#7780# and the phone's lock code (Nokia's default lock code is 12345). This reset restores the phone's original settings.
Soft reset. Type *#7370# and the phone's lock code.
Warning!Soft reset deletes all the phone's data (C drive).
Hard reset. Switch the phone off. Press and hold three keys together, the green key, the * key and the number '3'. While you are holding these keys, switch the phone on. Don't release these three keys before you see the Nokia hands logo.
Warning! Hard reset (as soft reset) wipes the C (phone memory) drive.

My screen says Adobe 8.0 series encountered a serious problem and application has to be re installed. I do not have the discs in my possession. They are loaded in our office in LA before I was sent the PC. Is there a way that I can re load the application which is installed in my hard drive according to the Control Panel?
And which operating system? If this is Win 7, you can pretty much forget the matter. It's not compatible and a reinstall won't fix it. For anything lese you might wanan give this a spin:

Problem with Application server
Hi All,
I'm facing problem with Application Server. When I installed the appserver and started it.. It started with the message " server has been started and some services will run at back". But when I tried stopping it using the stop default server i got the message that there is no server running but when i saw in the task manager i cud see two process running 1) appserver.exe and 2) imqbroker(something).exe so eventually I had to kill it.
Now when I'm trying to start the application server again its giving me this message "CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1" and below is the log file attached if its of any help

AjayThe VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.

Problem with Application Server Portal 9.0.2.0.1.
I have a problem with Application Server Portal and Wireless 9.0.2.0.1.
Firstly I've installed the infrastructure on a Pentium 3 866Mhz 512Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
I've maintained all predefined settings and I've chosen the UTF8 character set.
After installation, my infrastructure and OID works fine. The OID has port 4032 (as set by Oracle Universal Installer) instead of predefined 389.
After this I've installed Application Server Portal and Wireless on another host: a Pentium 3 733Mhz 384Mb of Ram, with Windows 2000 Server (Italian) service pack 2.
I've also maintained all predefined settings and automatic configuration of Portal and Wireless. I've pointed to my Infrastructure.
Try to test the Portal demonstration but an error occurred:
"SERVICE TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."
On my EM Console I see: component instances 'OC4J_Portal' and 'OC4J_Demos' are UP, instead 'Portal:portal:7777' is down.
On the component lists I've clicked the link of component instance Portal:portal:7777, the 'control services' and 'Accessible Server SSO' are started, while 'Accessible Portal Repository' is down.
What can I do to get my portal started?hi,

Here I facing one problem during Application Help configuration..
When I am going through application help for Solman Configuration it's taking me to standard erp help..
Where as in SR13, under PlainHtmlHttp,
In path tab I had given <b>saphelp_sm40/helpdata</b> for solution manager document.
But for other standard t-code it's giving actual application help.
where for SMSY,SOLAR01 etc i am not getting the application help.
Looking for advices.

Problems importing application
Hi, everybody.
i'm having some problems importing applications from my dev env to my prod env.
it's something very strange because it was working fine 2 weeks ago, but now it's not running.
i get into the import page, choose the file and then the page keeps with that 'importing file' message forever, and sometimes i get a 'page not found' message.
but yesterday, i don't know why, i could import one small application. After a 'page not found' message i got into the export repository, and there was my file. i installed it and it was done.
some days ago i was told here to take a look at the logs and to increase some parameters in apex. but i don't know if these were the correct parameters and the only logs i found were de Apache logs.
does anyone know what can be happening or at least whar must i look for?

To Oracle Application Express Development Team,
Yesterday I installed Oracle Application Express 3.2.0.00.27.
While doing my r&d, I came across one problem in SQL Command.
For example I wanted to run sql "select * from tab"
When I checked "Autocommit" checkbox it worked fine.
But when I unchecked the "Autocommit" checkbox it gave me following error:

Problem Loading Application to Card
I just purchased a Samsung S3CC9P9 smart card and I have problem loading applications onto the card.
Here is the problem:
On first usage, after successful mutual authentication, the card allows me to load the first application I try loading but after this it refuses to load any other application and responding with the error message 0x6424. I purchased 5 cards and 2 of them are already in this state.
Is there something I am missing-out? Is there somthing I ought to have done?
If I try the same process with my JCOP 31 card I purchased earlier everything works fine.

To close an app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the app that you want to close 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
my question is there an easy way instead of that method to closing application i think that my cause soon the home key crash cause of many press on it when closing every application hope you give me a solutionYou really do not need to close previously used apps completely. When you leave an app and go to the Home screen or another app, the previous app quits running.
There are a few exceptions to this like in Mail where the app will finish a task like sending or receiving email.
But most apps just stop working and have there state saved. Then when you go to that app again you go back to where it was and it starts running again.
The only time I close or quit an app by double clicking the Home button is when an app freezes or misbehaves. -
I have ongoing problems with "application not responding" in various programmes, ie Word, Excel, Illustrator, Photoshop, iPhoto etc. I recently subscribed to CC but the problem still persists. Any advice please? This applies to my iMac and my macbook air! I'm using OSX Version 10.9.3

How do I remove an "orphaned" window from a closed application?
Hi,
Every now and then, I end up with an "orphaned" window on my desktop, left over from a closed application. Currently, I have a login window from the Screen Sharing application that's been spinning the spoked progress wheel next to "Connecting..." for an hour or so. I've already closed the Screen Sharing app, so it's not a straightforward thing to go into Activity Monitor and kill the process. I know that I can reboot the machine to fix this, but I'm wondering if someone might know how to fix this sort of thing without a reboot. Is there some app that I can use that can tell me what process is the "owner" of this window? Since the progress wheel is spinning and I can drag the window around, it would seem that some process has control of it, but I just don't know which one.

Thanks for the information, but maybe I didn't clearly explain what happened. I had the Screen Sharing app open, and then I properly closed it down by quitting the application. But one of its windows remained on the desktop. I went into Activity monitor, and the Screen Sharing app wasn't listed in the process list at all. So I'm guessing that this window isn't owned by the Screen Sharing app itself, but from some other process that was spawned by the Screen Sharing app that didn't close when I shut down the Screen Sharing app. Granted, this situation doesn't come up very often, but I've also seen it happen with Norton Antivirus, if I dismount a volume while there's a popup window doing a "scan on mount", with the result that the "scan on mount" window doesn't go away. So given that the process with the "friendly" app name no longer appears in Activity monitor, can you suggest any way to determine which of the running processes "owns" the still-present window?

I have problems closing powerpoint. It started by itself when i turnd the mac on? What to do? and now it wont close..Command - option - escape keys open the Force Quit dialog.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
Log out, log back in, and test. If there's no improvement, continue.
Step 2
Reset your computer’s PRAM.
