Problem combining into a pdf

Good morning,
I am using Acrobat standard 9.4.6 French version (so i'll try to reflect in Engish what A says in French...)
I am trying to combine three pdf files into a single one.
I use the combine files functionality and add the 3 files into the dialogue box. It looks like this:
One of the fles has an error message next to it that says it needs a password to open it.
The files is NOT password protected.
What should I do?
This error happens very often...
Thanks
F.

Open the file in Acrobat and look at the security tab of the document properties.

I have nine, 1-page PDF files that are accessible and need to combine into 1 PDF file.  I have tried appending, adding and the combine PDFs process. The file created is not keeping my changes. The created file is partially accessible but I have to re-fix issues I had fixed in the single files. I need suggestions on what else can be done if any. Using Acrobat pro XI.

Out of habit, I tend to combine PDF files in the Page Thumbnails pane by right-click then "Insert Pages" -> "From File". For me, this preserves the tags from both documents, although the tags may have to be moved into the right location (if I recall correctly the tags for the inserted pages get put at the end of the tag structure, regardless of where the pages are inserted), If I first put the tags for the document to be inserted inside a container tag like Section, it makes the process easier. Moving that set of tags to the right place is the only re-fixing that I recall having to do. What behavior are you experiencing?

  • MS Word not in list of supported formats to combine into single PDF

Just upgraded to Acrobat X, Windows 7, and Office 10.  Selected Combine Files into PDF, then Add Filesin order to combine Word & Excel files into single PDF, which I've done many times and is my main use for AA.  AA didn't recognize any Word files (either 2003 or 2010), and no Word file formats are listed in "All Supported Formats" drop down list. What's up?

Thanks so much.  I'll check this out.

  • Maximum documents to combine into a PDF?

Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of files that can be combined into a single PDF, or is there a size limit?
    Thanks in advance.

Kindly let us know the Acrobat version for this query. In general, there is no preset limit on number of documents or size for Combine operation, however in case you are seeing any size related issues, do let us know.

  • Microsoft Office documents cannot be selected for combination into a PDF.

I have reinstalled Acrobat Pro XI twice.  Version of Office is 2010 32-bit.  See screenshot below.  Office documents are not available as supported at all.

    Hello acsmacsmacsmacsm,
if I understand you in the right way, you want to convert a WORD document into a pdf file. With my AA XI Pro it was not a problem, it did a correct job.
Please have a look there Word to PDF converter, convert Word doc to PDF | Adobe Acrobat XI (Convert Word to PDF for reliable viewing >>> When you use Acrobat XI to convert a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file to PDF, people will see it just like you sent it — whether they're viewing it on a computer, tablet, or smartphone)
... and if still necessary you could use the 30 days trial to find out the functions. >>> Try Acrobat XI for 30 days >>> (click) Free trial

  • Combining .docx into a PDF in Acrobat XI Pro

I am trying to combine two Word documents into a PDF, but when I do, Acrobat says that it encountered an unexpected error and cannot convert the documents. I was able to get around this issue by printing to Adobe PDF and combining the PDF documents, but I would like to get the conversion working correctly in Acrobat, especially since it was working earlier this year.
The Acrobat toolbar in Word is lacking its icons (see below).
I tried using the Repair Installation feature in Acrobat and had no luck fixing the problem.
    Acrobat: Pro XI
    OS: Windows 7
    Any help would be appreciated.

I can't say as I've seen the Acrobat Ribbon look like that before. Have you confirmed that the PDFMaker Add-on is enabled? What version of Word is this?

  • Combine into a single PDF bugs, Acrobat 9

There are a things about using the Combine into a single PDF document that are quite frustrating. Two of them have been the case for a few versions of Acrobat, one just since Acrobat 9.
Firstly, only in Acrobat 9 when dragging files into the combine files window I can't ever drag a document to the bottom of the list. If I try it always jumps to the top and then the only way to move it to the bottom is pressing the 'Move Down' button until it reaches there. Ok when you have a handfull of documets. Annoying when there are 30 or so.
Second, when adding 'Outlook Items' the converter always crashes once it reaches the Outlook item whilst converting all the documents. Obviously you can get around this by converting the document first, then adding it to the list, but it's an extra step you do not need to take when dealing with Word, or Excel documents, etc.
Thirdly, if you do not start by opening a PDF document, then click Combine files (i.e. if you open Acrobat without a document open, then click the 'Combine Files' button, if at any point you open then close another PDF document (say to check it's the correct document before inserting it) it automatically closes all of Acrobat, and you lose all the work you've put in sorting the documents into a correct order, etc.
This third one is by far the most frustrating. A warning dialogue saying "Are you sure you want to cancel combining files" would suffice.

By flattening it now will successfully merge into one file, but now there's a new problem.  There are fields that have responses that go beyond the visible size of the field (so there's a + showing on the field).  When I merge to the single PDF anything beyond the visible field size is not there.  Is there anyway of retaining the ability to scroll the fields?

  • Cannot combine PDFs into single PDF in Acrobat XI for Mac

I've been attempting to combine about 20 PDF files into a single PDF.  When I select this option from the file drop down menu or try and select it after launching Adobe Acrobat Pro, nothing happens.  There are no updates available for this software, so I'm confused as to what's causing the problem.  Thanks for any insight/advice!

    Hey,
You might try combining the PDF files using 'Create> PDF Portfolio' option and let me know if it works or not.

  • Combining mulitple image files into a PDF results in different pages sizes

    Hi
I prepared 150 images in Photoshop using a script. All the images are the same pixels dimensions, same resolution and same file type.
When I combine them into a PDF using Acrobat XI, some of the pages are very small. I cannot see the logic as to why this happens, and nor can I fix it.
    Any ideas?
    /Jason

Acrobat should be using the same information - pixel dimensions and resolution (except for filetypes like GIF where it is ignored). May be worth reopening an image from a problem page and rechecking these values.

  • Avoid automatic (?) rotation when combining multiple files into 1 pdf

As I do often have to mark up (stamp) and print large number of single A3 size pdfs (converted dwg files) I am combining them (explorer) into 1 new pdf. Thus enabling just 1 print job instead of 50-100 !
So far no problem - combining works fine & all drawings are even landscape.
However when applying custom stamp on each sheet (first time all the way in acrobat - all next sheets with copy - paste because:
    much faster
    often resizing required
    sometimes even rotating required.
Seems originally not "landscape" orientated files were (at least in the view) re-orientated causing the applied stamp to be 90 - 180 or -90 degrees offset
When I manually remove the stamp on this page and insert a new one via Acobe Acrobat (not copy paste) the orientation is ok. Rather amazing.
Got some more related questions but think 1 step at the time is more convenient.
As often 50-100 dwg's are involved the copy-paste method (after resizing once) turns out most efficient till now.
How can I control / avoid the automatic rotation or anticipate on the (obviously) rotating stamps ?
I will have to move the stamps anyway because I can hardly ever put a stamp at the same position on a drawing.
[It turns out to be almost impossible to get draughtsman to leave an empty space on each drawing ...]
Once again thanks in advance for any suggestion !

    Some additional info:
main issue: how to avoid files to be rotated during combining? The rotating is not the real issue - however when applying the stamp using Ctrl-C => Ctrl-V the apllied stamp seems to track the original position of the file .... Amazing however: when adding  a stamp with Adobe acrobat the "common" way the orientation of the stamp is OK !!
Also: files to be combined do not always have same original size (A3 - A1 - A0 sometimes also A4 or A2 !!) so I do quite often have to re-size my stamp. Do realize I can probably solve this by printing the "binder"document to a pdf first - with setting A3 paper size. I'll try it first !
Would be nice to be able to insert a stamp on each sheet of the binder-document with 1 action (Macro ?) and - importatnt - have the stamp located at same position on each page. Would still require a check as draughtsman don't always leave free space available at same location (if any at all )

    Hi,
sometimes ago I wrote a VBScript which may do, what you want.
Copy the attached Script into Notepad, change the settings and save it as AcMerge.vbs.
If you have produced the PDF FileList, you can double click on the VBS or Drag 'n Drop
