Problem completing restore on the iPhone

I updated to the latest software and now I can't the restore process to complete. It keeps going in the loop...............it keeps bringing me to the iCloud screen and going over the same thing......what am I doing wrong?

Water damage is really a tough hurdle to get over if the steps you have already tried do not work.
The next step would be to tranfer your Logic Board to a working 3GS to see if it works.
If the Logic Board is good or you just want to try one more thing, try cleaning the Dock Port very well with Isopropyll Alcohol. If still problem, at most replace the Dock Port Assembly.
Throwing good money after a bad iPhone is not a good idea.

Sounds like a 'stuck' Shift key. You could try to take the key off and put it back on yourself (should be some info on that from ifixit) or just take it to your local Apple Store and have them fix it.

Problems after upgrading to the iPhone 5S

After upgrading to the iPhone 5S 2 weeks ago I've had nothing but problems. It's quite sad because I had the iphone 4s for 2 years and had no problems whatsoever. Anyways... ever since I got the new phone I've been getting the "imessage waiting for activation" message on and off everyday, and today my phone started freezing on the lock screen and then restarting itself over and over. It won't let me press any other button and is unresponsive when I plug it into itunes.
I've already called my cellphone service provider (Bell) and Apple tech support and had no help from either.
Should I take the phone in to get it replaced? Do I go to Bell or Apple?
Help Please! I've tried everything off of these forums!

Restore the iOS software using iTunes, first also restoring a backup, and if needed as new, without using a backup/

I have updated my iPhone 3GS 32GB to iOS5 and iTunes to version 10.5.
All music, videos and ringtones purchased were deleted on the device and now it is impossible at all to sync the iPhone with the computer, both by USB and Wi Fi.
It always appears at step 5 of the syncronization the message:
"The iPhone “iPhone” could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish."
Has anyone experienced the same problem and has found the solution or we have to wait a bug fix from Apple?

Just made one very simple move without having to restore iPhone or reinstall iTunes..

Follow that link to restart (or if necessary) reinstall your Apple mobile device support.
In my case, Leave iPhone connected all the way. I first exit iTunes. Then i stopped the Apple Mobile device support (by following a part on that link above in step 1) which Effectively made my iPhone undetectable on itunes but discoverable by windows as a 'camera device'. Then while device is still connected, i started the Apple mobile dev support again. Now i open itunes and there my iPhone re-appears.
2nd step: After your iphone re-appears on iTunes, press Sync and all is well...
P.S, Mine is iPhone 4 running on iOS 5, iTunes 10.5, Windows 7..

Signal reception problem? its not the iphone its...

Ok after i read through MANY people problems ive realized they are blaming the iphone 4 itself .... WRONG
Test 1 well i still had my 3g and 3gs both of them were OS 3. whatever i forgot both EXCELLENT RECEPTION but as everyone know the IPHONE 4 had bad reception even without touching the 2 BLACK LINES sometimes it goes to 1 bar for some reason.
Test 2 OK so i tried something else i update my 3gs to OS 4 and well can you guess what happen when i held it in the bottem? YUP the bars decreased to 1 i know your probably denieng it
Test 3 so now i UPDATED MY 3G to OS 4 and held the bottem..... can you guess what happen the reception to went down to 1
obviously it isnt the iphone its the software and if i didnt read wrong there is gonna be a new softare update OS 4.1 to fix the solution but like i said I READ so i dont know hopefully it will come
but these happen to my phones if anyone got a iphone 3g or 3gs updated to OS 4 and no reception problem then i guess its magick =/

I did a little experiment here at work. I have a 3G and I have to buddies with 3Gs. We held the iPhone in our left hands completely covering the back of the phone and are fingers wrapped around the other edge. We all where able to reproduce the issues with the bars slowly falling away until there where no bars left. Then we place the phone on a flat surface where we where not touching the phone and the bars slowly can back to full strength. All of us have upgraded our phones to ios4. Until this issues came up with the iPhone 4 I had never thought of doing this hand covering procedure. I also run a speed test before I lost all the bars and after I lost all the bars. Had decent speed before and dismal speed after. Also I went from 3G to Edge during the process. We need to find an iPhone that has not been updated to ios4 and test it in the same manor.

I have recently had my iphone repaired after a few knocks and bangs.
When turning it back on it says i have to connect to itunes.
but when i do (and try to restore the iphone) it just keeps saying it wont.
an error message comes up saying it wont restore.
I have all the updated software and the latest versions. it just wont happen. help.

Complete Restore Using the 2 restore disk (leopard)

Hi can anyone please tell me how to do a complete restore with my MBA? I need to a complete fresh install of leopard and remove all of the data that has been saved. Also can anyone tell me how to save more hard drive space? Which apps that i should not install just to make space?

All that you need to do to re-install is to just put in the first disk, and restart the computer holding down the C key while it boots (that instruction should be printed on the front of the first disk). What apps that you NEED, and dont need are up to you really. I dont install any print drivers on my notebook as I dont even personaly own a printer, Additional languages, and the iLife things I also dont use on the notebook so I dont install those either.

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps and data to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. If I do a restore of the iphone 3GS I only get the 3GS apps (i.e. no facetime)

When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.

There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

I'm loathed to ask the same question again about the ITunes library not syncing with my iPod but having just done a complete restore, ensuring the tracks are in AAC format.. There are still problems.. Apple are there with the tutorials..but no solvings!!!

I'm using iPod 4th Gen iOS 6.1.3 and an iMac with 11.3 .. All latest versions. I have 23.4gb music according to the file but when I attached the iPod the bar at the foot of the page says 18.3gb. Some tracks are missing. Most if not all have been ripped from cd's into iTunes which is creating AAC format for each track. Other tracks play fine, some show the song but not the Artist and vice versa.
I have tried dragging the tracks from the Mac library to the IPod music file..nothing. So I go to Safari, type the question in and read the same problems over.. Are Apple aware of their Tutorials without troubleshooting pages ? Do they care?
My Pioneer DDJ/T1 is set up with Traktor and only wants to work with iTunes.. So iTunes are edging themselves in everywhere for everything... But it's still not working as it should..
Anyone have any clues please... Tried most all the ideas so far...

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

How can I restore the apps I had on my iPhone after they were deleted? Some of them were free and others were paid for apps.

if you go in the app store from your device, under updates you should see a purchased tab. There you can redownload any app you've ever downloaded free or purchased. You wont be charged again since you already bought them/downloaded them. Just select the cloud icon next to the app.

Yes, the problem has been completely solved since I bought the Body Glove iPhone 4 case at the AT&T store in my local mall yesterday, 6/29/10.
I am not an Apple Fanboy. Just reporting the facts of my experience.
I had the Antenna Problem big time before buying the Body Glove case.
No antenna signal problems now! No dropped calls for 24 hours!
New purchasers of iPhone 3:
I suggest you remain patient for another week; I bet this general problem will be solved. You can still return your phone within 14 days.
You can even go back to your iPhone 3GS or 3 for a week until there is a fix. Or, just buy an iPhone 4 Body Glove case from AT&T.
I suggest you remain patient!
I do live in Pittsburgh, PA. Maybe AT&T signal is stronger here. But, I did have the problem before buying the case.

Problem with restoring from backup (iPhone 3gs)

My iPhone was having problems with syncing music from iTunes so I restored it to factory settings, then attempted to restore from one of my previous backups; all seemed to be going fine, the Restore in Progress screen came up on my iPhone, followed by the Apple logo and beneath it a loading bar. About 15 hours later and there's been no movement in the loading bar, it's still empty, so I'm assuming it must be frozen. I was wondering if this was a common problem and if there's any known solution to it? Cheers.

If you are using Windows, switching Anti-virus, firewall etc. might help.

That's not the same as a restore. You may need to go to iTunes and click "Restore iPhone" to wipe iOS out and reinstall it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Erase all content and settings only erases the user partition. An iTunes restore is a full wipe. That "other" space is tricky and can remain even after erasing all content and settings under some circumstances.
