Problem configuring RVS4000 router

I just purchase the Cisco Router RVS4000 vpn and I am having problem configuring the VPN option.  I just try all way I could imaging, but somehow something are missing and I don't know what it is.  Here are a image of my current configuration.

Without examining this in detail, it is only half of the equation.  The other end of the tunnel needs to be configured as well.  BTW, don't ever post your WAN IP and shared key in a public forum.  Change the key.

  • Problems configuring router after hard reset

I'll start with my 'vitals' ---
    * WRK54G Wireless Router
    * Cable internet
    * Desktop computer is wired to the router
    * Roku media player - wireless connection (will play my mp3s off of the computer or listen to internet radio stations)
    * Tivo wirelessly connected
This morning, I tried to play some music off of my computer on the Roku media player. It would not communicate with the computer, but it would find the internet stations. After some trial and error, I tried to make the Tivo connect and it also failed to find the computer. The computer itself also could not find the internet, but the Roku was streaming music from the 'net fine. I exhausted my limited networking knowledge and decided it was time to bite the bullet and do a full restart on the router.
I turned off the computer and the router. The modem has a battery backup so I reset it and while it was booting back up, I plugged the computer into the modem. Once the computer started, the internet was up on the computer and felt encouraged. I found and ran the install disk that came with the router and followed it step by step. After getting a few more errors, I got the setup program to find the internet through the router and I could proceed to the next step. When I got to setting my time zone, an error came up that the modem could not be configured and I should hold the reset button again for 10 seconds. I felt discouraged again. I reset it, and nothing. Tried again nothing. It will not get through the guided set up, but the internet is apparently working.
I thought I would just get into the web-based set up page. I can log in with the default password and get to all of the screens, but whenever I try to save changes (whether I made any or not) the password box comes back up and the default password (or any password I tried to change it to) will make it go away.
So basically, my problems are: 1) the guided setup will not finish 2) the web-based setup will not let me make any changes because it does not recognize any password.
Thanks for any help in advance...
    Chris
PS -- after I post this, I am going to reset the computer again and unplug the internet from the router just to see if I can get the web-based setup to work. I'll post the results, one way or another.

I, and others in this forum, have had problems saving Linksys router settings too.  I logged into my router fine, but couldn't save the settings without a password screen coming up.  No password is accepted.  I contacted Linksys Help and received no solution.  I looked on this forum and saw mentioned that the problem may be with Norton Internet Security (NIS).  One person said they just temporarily disabled NIS and then they were able to save their router settings before reenabling NIS again.  I tried that, ended up turning off every setting in my NIS, rebooting with them off, etc, but it didn't help with the ability to save my router settings.  I have NIS 2007 and the NIS Add-On pack (needed because for some reason Norton took away features from previous versions and after people complained they made them available again with the add-on pack).  I planned to remove all of NIS (after I made notes of my modifications), and started by removing the NIS Add-On pack first.  After a reboot I tried to save my router settings and it worked!  Phew.  I got them all set and tested, then I installed the NIS Add-On pack again and all is well.  When I saw people had made comments on this forum about this problem for 8 months at least I was disappointed that Linksys Help hadn't already been aware of the problem and able to give the solution.

  • Problems configuring HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP with Mac via AirPrint

    Hello,
I have a HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP printer, connected to a Dlink DSL-2730U ADSL router. I am having problems configuring the printer with my Macbook running OSX Yosemite. I can see the printers name in nearby printers but when I try to add the printer, the mac gives me an error saying, "unable to communicate with the printer at this time". The network settings on the printer are configure for iPv4 and iPv6 addresses.
Previously, I had the ADSL DSL-2750U model router, and the printer was connected fine. I did not face any issues then. I have been facing problems since I changed my router so the problem should be in the router. I have the IP for the printer reserved in the DHCP reservation list on the router settings using the mac address of the printer.
Can someone please help me out here? Is there something I am probably missing.
    Rgds
    ~n~

I talked to the DLink Support. They asked me to disable an option called "MultiAP Isolation" and Voila, the printer is working fine. I can add it to all my devices on the wireless network. I looked up google. Apparently, this isolation feature present in some routers, prevent wifi clients to interact with other devices connected to the wired network and also with each other. Thats why only my desktop which was also connected wired was only able to access the printer and not the laptops connected wirelessly.
Problem solved. Thanks for all your help on this one.
    Cheers!

  • Configuring Static Route Tracking Using ASDM 7.1(3) ASA 9.1(2)

I have recently updated my ASA5520 to 9.1(2) and I am using ASDM 7.1(3) to configure Static Route Tracking. I have done this previoussy in earlier version of ASDM without a problem.  There seems to be a new field in the Tracked Options section.  What is the "Target Interface"?  Is it the interface I want to use as the standby route when the Monitor fails? Or is it the Interface that is doing the monitoring?
I have looked through Cisco ASA Series General Operations ASDM Configuration Guide Software Version 7.1, as well as older ASDM books and this field is never listed or described.

    Hi,
The target interface will be the interface through which you will be polling some destination IP address with ICMP Echos to determine if the route through that interface is still valid.
So in your case you would use "Outside"
Heres the link to the ASA Command Reference listing the above "type" command under the "sla monitor 1" configuration

  • Problems after wireless router (WRT310n) firmware update.

I updated the firmware on my wireless router (wrt310n) yesterday and now I am having major issues connecting my laptop to it via wireless.  After the update, I reset the router as well as unplugged the power source.  Once the update and everything was reset, I re-entered all my settings and set the computers back up using the LELA.  I go to change the laptop to wireless and it says it can't connect to it.  I did the LELA update on the laptop thinking that would fix it, but it didn't help.  However, the whole time I am able to connect to the router using a ethernet cable.  I turned off all of the encryption settings, firewalls, and broadcasted my SSID.  I searched this forum for some help and one topic suggested somethings, which I did, and I was able to connect wirelessly with the encryption.  I thought I was done and set-up, until later that evening.  I turned the computer back on only to see the same problem again.  I decided to deal with it the next day (today) by uninstalling LELA and just using Windows to configure my wireless settings.  As soon as I uninstalled LELA, entered the key into the Windows program, it worked like a charm.  Until tonight, when I turned on the computer.  Now I'm connecting to the network wirelessly, but it says "Limited or no connectivity."  Acting like there is no encryption key entered.  I go to "View Wireless Networks" and it says "WIndows cannot configure connection.  If you have another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software."  The thing is, I don't have another program on here to manage a wireless connection.  Sorry for the long post.  I figured if I didn't type everything out, people would have just asked me questions.  I had no problems with this router until I did the update yesterday.  If it can't be fixed, is there a way to revert back to the old firmware?  Thanks in advance.

Well you should adjust the Wireless Settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Before you attempt to connect to your wireless network you should first check your Programs menu if there is any Wireless Program(like 'Intel Proset' , 'Dell Wireless WLAN' , or anything that gives you a clue of a Wireless Program/Utility/Software)...You should use the Wireless Utility/Software(if any) to connect to your wireless network and not the Windows default Wireless Program to avoid any conflicts...

  • Problem configuring Username token profile on ALSB

    Hi All !!
First of all, thanks for your support!!
I'm facing a problem configuring an active intermediary Proxy service with username token profile. This proxy service has a security policy referencing Auth.xml file to implement Username token profile. That proxy calls a business service which calls a web service.
On test page, username and password is requested (already created in the security domain), then an error is returned "Unable to add security token for identity".

  • Configuring my router to cut down on Denial of Service errors

    Hi,
I am having problems with dos errors clogging up the bandwidth in my network. Is there anyway I can configure my router to cut back on these. Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Jesse

The DoS Protection button is enabled.
Most of them come from three ip addresses:  219.148.119.6, 219.148.119.2 and 218.55.122.213.
The description in the logs are things like "Possible DoS HGOD SynKiller Flooding",
"DoS MS-SQL Slammer Worm", "FRONTPAGE Extensions Remote Command Execution", and  "PORT_SCAN_TCP_FIN_ACK", in order of frequency of occurrence.

  • RVS4000 router reliability

    Hello!
I have recently acquired a Cisco RVS 4000 router which was intended to serve my private network, but sice I installed i noticed some issues in the sense that after some time of use (can also be depended to higher traffic on internet) it becomes unresponsive (no more trafic in the network possibe).
When this happen the only possibility to make it working again is reset the power.
Now after i wrote my issue I think I have to describe what has been done here.
Before RVS4000 i had installed a WRT110 router as a gateway and wireless.
Now i configured RVS4000 as DHCP server and as my pppoe gateway. The DHCP server on WRT 110 was disabled (I want to use it as a access point) and set a static ip which is also included in RVS 4000 reservations with the MAC address.
I did all theese to make RVS 4000 to handle the IP's inside the cable network and also to the wireless network.
I tryed what I believed it helps: disable IPS, set the router DHCP to allocate IP's only after the both routers IP's.
I also tryed to reflash the router with the same firmware, but still, after one night of continuous traffic it hangs....
Please give me an advice what should I do next! Thank you in advance!

    Hi Cristian,

  • Problem configuring WRT54GX2

I'm trying to reconfigure my router following a little problem I was having with my internet connection. I saved the configuration and restored the router to the factory defaults. I know how to reload my old configuration from the router. The problem is that I can't connect to the router. Initially I thought it was because I needed to run the initial setup cd, so that's what I did. However that seems to have a problem connecting to the router as well (it fails to configure the router at the end of the setup). Everything's connected properly so I know that isn't the problem. My suspicion is that somehow my modem's IP address to changed to 192.168.1.1 and so there is a conflict when I or the setup utility tries to connect to the router. Unfortunately I don't know my modem's password because I didn't need to do any configuration with it when I got DSL. I need some help here.

hi...reset the router for 30 seconds and do a power cycle...do not connect the modem to the router..connect the computer to the router's port#1 and check whether it gets a valid ip add from the router and also try to ping the router ( 192.168.1.1 ) .. if successful...access the router using http://192.168.1.1 . the default password is admin
change the local ip add to 192.168.2.1 . save the settings and do a power cycle...now connect the modem to the router's internet port and check whether the internet works now ..

  • How to configure IGMP routing right?

My server need to pass multicast UDP streams from physical NIC to a virtual NIC. Network layout is this: Ubuntu Server (ffmpeg) in Hyper-V <---> Windows Server (Wowza) <---> Multicast subnet.
Here is what I've done: Enabled RRAS service. Added IGMP protocol to IPv4 routing. Added pNIC and vNIC as interfaces. pNIC is in Proxy mode, vNIC is in Router mode.
That way I can at least see: 1) new records in IGMP group table when someone is requesting IGMP membership, 2) UDP packets flooding pNIC multicast interface when request from vNIC is received. However, I can't listen vNIC interface with Wireshark from guest
or host by some reason so I don't know if packets are actually reaching the player on VM. I assume they aren't, because I can't play it with VLC or ingest the stream by ffmpeg (but who knows, maybe it just can't be played in Hyper-V?).
If both interfaces are in IGMP router mode, no UDP traffic can be detected.
The question is where exactly the problem is. That Router/Proxy layout I've did seems to be "one-way". But I think in theory it is possible that both subnets have their own multicasts, and both subnets can have different consumers to play all those
multicast streams, so that Windows should route it correctly both ways.
Did I configured IGMP routing on Windows Server correctly? Because I'm not really sure.
Update:I tried to restream the udp-stream via VLC Player right into Ubuntu VM's interface. This way ffmpeg was able to catch something. It has another problems, though, but clearly is receiving some data now. So IGMP isn't configured right
by me, right? Then the topic question is the actual question.

    Hi,
To verify if the VM receives the multicast packet, please try to perform a network capture by using Network Monitor.
To download Network Monitor, please click the link below,
    Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4 (archive)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=4865
If the packets are revceived, it should be an software issue. Please check the settings of Ubuntu.
If the packets are not received, due to it is more related to Hyper-V, to get better help, please post this question on the Hyper-V forum.

I need advise and help with this problem .
First , I have been with Mac for many years ( 14 to be exact ) I do have some knowledge and understanding of Apple product .
At the present time I'm having lots of problems with the router so I was looking in to some info , and come across one web site regarding : port forwarding , IP addresses .
In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer
Any help is welcome , English is my learned language , you may notice this , so I'm not that quick with the respond

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.
    To remove it, see:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/
Do not use the Genieo uninstaller!

  • Problem with E2000 Router

I have a problem getting my router to work on any channel other than channel 11. There are 4 other houses on my street that uses channel 11 and it causes a lot of interference. I tried switching to channel 1 or 6 but everytime I do my router does not show up in the list of Networks on any of my wireless devices. Help is much appreciated

As you mentioned in your post that you tried switching off the channel1 or 6 but your wireless network does not show up in the list. You even tried channel number 11 but that is even used by your 4 neighbor. So you can change the channel to 9. Channel 9 is one of the channel for best optimized setting...

  • Problem during Rate Routing Upload using BDC.

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I am uploading Rate Routings using a BDC program which is working perfectly but having a single problem.
In the initial screen of the transaction CA21(Create Rate Routing), I need to enter only the Material Number and its Plant and all the other fields should be left blank.
But, here the group number field is automatically getting filled with the previous value and it is incrementing the group counter number.
I want the system to allocate different group number for  each Routing. I want the group number to be unique.
    Thanks,
    Ranjan.

    Dear Ranjan,
While doing recording CA21. you would pass only the material number and plant (i mean you did recording of CA21 based on material number as well as plant not for routing number (group counter))
Routing number (group counter) dynamic (In your case Internal number rage has assigned).
    So the Problem is:
1st record of you internal table update smoothly because you program will pass only material and plant
group counter (RC271-PLNNR) field is blank, after update 1st record system will regenerates the
    group counter number.
ones the system updates the data it will generates Group counter number and assign to filed :(RC271-PLNNR).
after saving the record system will go loop statement of you program. again program will call the call transaction statement with 2nd record of the internal table. call transaction statement pass the material number and plant field at ca21. but group counter number automatically poulated in the screen field because that time system can't be refresh the initial screen of CA21,
so system will shows previous updated screen ( 1st routing record will show)
Remove your bdc perform and add this code in your BDC perform.
    *        Start new screen                                              *
    FORM BDC_DYNPRO USING PROGRAM DYNPRO.
       CLEAR BDCDATA.
       BDCDATA-PROGRAM  = PROGRAM.
       BDCDATA-DYNPRO   = DYNPRO.
       BDCDATA-DYNBEGIN = 'X'.
       APPEND BDCDATA.
    ENDFORM.
    *        Insert field                                                  *
    FORM BDC_FIELD USING FNAM FVAL.
       IF FVAL <> SPACE.
         CLEAR BDCDATA.
         BDCDATA-FNAM = FNAM.
         BDCDATA-FVAL = FVAL.
         APPEND BDCDATA.
       ENDIF.
    *                Clearing the Group Counter                                *
       IF FVAL = SPACE.
         CLEAR BDCDATA.
         BDCDATA-FNAM = FNAM.
         BDCDATA-FVAL = FVAL.
         APPEND BDCDATA.
       ENDIF.
above code: 1st time of call transaction FVAL = space means ( group counter field is blank)
2nd and rest of the time FVAL <> space. means (previous record group number exists for new call transaction ) so system will be by pass with new record.
Check with debugging mode. you will come to whats going in you code.
Even i have go same problem while uploading routing data. i have find out solution after doing my RND.

    Akshath
