Problem connecting (read only) to Sybase Server using Crystal XI
Hi,
I'm having a very similar problem to Renuha in the thread 'Problem connecting to Sybase Server using Crystal XI-Version-11.0.0.1994'
The thread is marked as assumed answered but I suspect not!
I am experiencing this issue in Crystal XI R1 11.0.0.2495, post SP4 install.
Though the issue was exactly the same pre SP4 install, when it was a vanilla install @ version 11.0.0.1282.
I am trying to connect to a Sybase database via Crystal > Start Page > Standard Report Wizard > Standard Report Creation Wizard > Sybase Server > Make New Connection
I enter the details, of my read only user account, and select my desired database, from the (successfully) populated 'Database' drop down.
After some time, in the 'Standard Report Creation Wizard' window I get the server listed under the Sybase Server branch, but, on expanding the server I only get '...no items found...'. However ,if I use the sa account, after selecting a particular database, I can see all the available database objects under the Sybase Server > [server] node.
I am on Windows XP Pro SP3, with Sybase Open Client v12.5.2
I assume my Sybase Open client is correctly installed as I am able to successfully connect using the sa account.
I am trying to connect to a Solaris 10 (5.10) system running Sybase @@version= Adaptive Server Enterprise/15.0.3/EBF 16548 ESD#1/P/Sun_svr4/OS 5.8/ase1503/268
Our database vendor/supplier has said:
"...Crystal reports is not handling the granularity of the Sybase revoke permissions and assuming we've revoked all access to any table where we have revoked only write access.
Is anyone able to assist?
Thanks,
Matt
Don,
Thanks again for the response and my apologies for the delay in reply - they keep giving me other work to do!!
Anyway.
CR XI R2 SP6 successfully installed.
Same outcome on Sybase connect, with a full read/write sa account
i.e. successfull connect and sight of all database objects within my chosen database.
Same outcome on my restricted read only account
i.e. I am able to successfully authenticate and choose which database I wish to select but subsequently, still, 'no items found' is displayed when I expand my database node.
I believe it is a problem with the read only account as both accounts are able to connect, as shown by the availablilty of the dropdown, listing the available databases within the specified Sybase instance.
The reasons for going down this path are as you suspect - I've been asked to provide access which is not full!
As far as the testing via test tbl creation.
I know very little of Sybase (?!) and all our Sybase DBA activities are carried out by our system/dB vendor/supplier.
To do further testing I would have to go back to our dB vendor/supplier but, as mentioned, (I get the impression) they already beleive they have carried out all required of them by providing locked down read only access.
I ought to mention that the database trying to be accessed is a restored copy of "the previous days" live data, on an MIS server. The read-only account comes over as with full privileges, and it is a script, subsequent to database restore, which knocks down the accounts privs, to read-only. Given this scenario what would I have to ask of them re further testing/troubleshooting?
Thanks,
Matt

Problem connecting to Sybase Server using Crystal XI-Version-11.0.0.1994
Dear All,
I have Crystal Reports XI (Version-11.0.0.1994) and Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise 12.5 installed in my machine.
Now Im trying to connect to Sybase Server As , File > Log On or Off Server > Create New Connection > More Data Sources > Sybase. But am not Able to. It takes me to the installation wizard and ends with "No items found" error message.
How ever Im able to create an ODBC Connection to the sybase server. But I want to create a connection using Sybase Native Driver. Could you anyone please throw some light on this
ThanksHello,
Go into Add/Remove Programs and Change and then select Custom install and expand the database drivers. Verify you have selected Sybase, if not select it and then OK.
If it's there then make sure the client is installed and path to the Sybase Client is in the PATH statement. Sorry I don't recall what it should be but you should see Sybase there somewhere. If not add it, typically it also has a \bin folder.
Thank you

Problems connecting to a remote OPC server in write mode using CWDataSocket control
Hi.
I have been struggling with an odd feature when trying to connect to a remote OPC server using CWDataSocket control, though I'm not sure if it's a CWDataSocket related problem. But anyway, the following error occurs: "Active: Can't write data." Error number: "-2147467259". Now, when I connect to a local OPC server
and write some data and then again connect to the remote server, no errors occure and reading and writing work fine. The same error occurs when I try the same in LabVIEW. What could be the problem?
No errors occure when I connect to the server with some other OPC client application.
Thanks in advance.
- Asko -The ConnectTo operation (as are all DataSocket operations) is asynchronous. In order for it to complete, you must process Windows messages after calling it and before calling another operation. Is it possible that you are trying to write data before the connection operation is complete?
One easy way to test this would be to put the ConnectTo and the Write in separate control callbacks, cause ConnectTo to be called, wait a while, then cause the Write to be called. Alternatively, you could do something like the following:
dsWrite.ConnectTo txtUrl.Text, cwdsWrite
While Not ((dsWrite.Status = cwdsConnectionActive) Or (dsWrite.Status = cwdsConnectionIdle))
DoEvents
Wend
If this is the problem, then you'll probably want to go with the
second option. In a production system, you should include a timeout in the While loop so that if the connection actually cannot be made, you are not stuck in an infinite loop. -
Unable to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver.
For the last one week I have been trying to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver. I spoke to the technical support agency who manage our remote server but they are saying that there is no problem with the server adn they dont know anythign about dreamweaver so cant assist me.
I was suggested to check with adobe team directly and i spoke to a technical support person on the live chat but they said since the version is CS4 - education version, they cant assist me at all!! This is just ridiculous...I am constantly being sent from one place to the other without anything getting resolved!!
Please help somebody!!I am having a similar problem... maybe. I was connected to my remote site all day yesterday, then out of the blue I tried to "put" an edited file... as I had been doing all day, and I received an FTP error: Cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect. That's odd, I've been connecting all day. So I went into my sites > manage sites and clicked the Test button on my remote server information and it returned Adboe Dreamweaver CS connected to your webserver successfully. I went back to my file and tried once more to "put" it on the remote server... again FTP Error: cannot make connect to host... So I reboot my computer and start Dreamweaver CS3 again. I reenter my remoter server information and click the Test button. "... connect to your webserver successfully". I try to put any file, FTP error again. So I call my server administrator, he checks the servers logs and says there are no errors and you've connected successfully several times today. I went through the trouble shooting steps listed here, though my FTP Logs are empty. I cannot stay connected or even see the remote folders to try to drag and drop. I tried to run ftp from a windows command prompt and it seems to connect me.
I downloaded an installed an SFTP client and was able to successfully connect to my remote server and upload the files. It's definately a Dreamweaver problem. Any suggestions? -

since include-read-only is a server global setting, we can't have two channels with different value. remove the test for the include-read-only false. update the service-config.xml as well.

blazeds/trunk/qa/apps/qa-regress/testsuites/mxunit/tests/remotingService/dataTypes/ReadOn lyTest.mxmlYou can give this a try on your Ultimate machine. While these are said to be for Vista, I used it on my Win 7 machine just fine and it fixed the problems I was having. Hope it works for you.
The problem is that Vista, by default, will only use NTLMv2 for authentication, which is not supported by Mac OS X's Windows Sharing service.
The other problem is the Minimum Session Security for NTVLM SSP based Clients.
To get around this:
1. In Vista, open the Control Panel
2. Switch to "Classic" view
3. Double-click Administration Tools
4. Double-click Local Security Policy
5. Or Secpol.msc
6. Expand "Local Policies" and select "Security Options"
7. Alternate : Type secpol.msc to get editor up then
8. Locate "Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level" in the list and double-click it.
9. Change the setting from "Send NTMLv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated"
10. Network Security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP Based (including secure RPC) Clients
11. Change the setting from "require 128 bit" to unchecked (No Minimum)
12. Click OK
the real difference between vista and windows 7 procedure is 10 and 11 -
Get the connected users count from sql server using powershell
Hi,
I am working on SharePoint 2013,I am having SQL server 2012.
I want to get the Connected Users count from sql server using power shell.
Can any one please let me know how to implement.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Phani Kumar RSorry Tom, I dont like to hear "There is no way" :-(
There is always a way in computer to get what you need (at least it is good as Rule of thumb). I am not sure we will find it here (in a voluntary supporting forum).
Now we (or better the architect of their system) should think of the way :-)
Of course doing so in the forum, while we do know the system and only got a glimpse on what is needed, is not the best idea. I will point some issues which can be related to a solution. Those are not a solotions as it is but something we can use for a solution
once something look in the right way.
* A web connects counter is one of the easier thing to do. The basic idea is just to use the connect event and the disconnect event an adding 1 or removing 1 from the counter. This is best to do in the application using static variable as any way the second
the application is down the counter can be go to hell as we know there is no one connect (there for a counter do not use database usually). Using a web dot-net (or asp 3) application this is done most of the time using the global.asa/global.asax file, which
include the application and session events. for example using the method Session_Start
protected void Session_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) {
// Code that runs when a new session is started
* IIS have a build-in loging system where we can log each and every request/response or only logins users. There is lot we can do with this log files including data mining. Using small bulk insert script we can use the SQL agent to insert those logs to the
database and get the information we need.
* any web developer i want to believe know about the Fiddler application which we use to monitor traffic. A proxy is not the only way to to monitor traffic (it is not good for our case as this is in the client side), there are several option in the server
side.
* SQL trigger on logon can be use to get information on who is loging on and can be logging only specific source (like our sharepoint IP or any sharepoint application). This information (what is the application which connect to the server can be retrive
in several solution without using a trigger as well)
*** (I'll be brief ... I'm getting bored... probably the reader feel the same)
* using extended events and/or profiler we can monitor any connection and save the data or just remember it in shared (static) variable (this
blog show how to do it by the way). Again we can monitor specific application or use any filter in order to get only the sharepoint users
.... and i can continue for several days more :-) ...
"If there is a willing, then there's a way"
"If you can't do it, Then someone else probably can"
"Never say never"
I hope this help somehow :-)

Problem with Read-Only Entity Bean
Hi All,
I have an Read-Only BMP that just read data from 20 tables and stores them in a Collection. In a 'Read-Only' Entity bean, the ejbLoad() is supposed to called periodically as defined by 'read-timeout-seconds' parameter in 'weblogic-ejb-jar.xml'. But this doesn't happen. Every time I invoke the EJB, ejbCreate() and ejbLoad() get called. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Here is the content of my 'weblogic-ejb-jar.xml' file.

Thanks,
PremYes, it calls ejbLoad() at intervals defined by read-timeout-seconds, but only when bean
is requested by the client, and the cached copy is old. If bean just sits in the cache
unused no ejbLoad()'s will be called.

Rajesh,
Thanks for your reply. I’m using WL6.1 sp1. When I log the methodcalls,
this is what I see on the server console.
SetEntityContext()
ejbCreate()
ejbPostCreate()
ejbLoad()
As you see, the ejbLoad() doesn’t get called every 5 sec, eventhough I
set the ‘read-timeout-seconds=5’ in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml,
Do you have a working example for Read-Only BMP on WL6.1? The examplesdirectory
in weblogic 6.1 doesn’t have one.
Also find attached all the files. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Prem.

Hi,
I have some data loaded into the data-domain in Endeca 3.0. When I was creating views in studio I repeatedly get this message when I say save view:
Could not execute view config service request. This usually happens when an invalid view config service request is made, or when a read only Oracle Endeca Server receives a view config service request. Error message: Error applying updates: Unsupported language ${DEFAULT_LANGUAGE}
In the workspace.prm file I have set ${DEFAULT_LANGUAGE}=en
May I know why this happening and a remedy for it. Appreciate you help.Hi,

Oracle raise ORA-03113 when connect to a remote oracle server using toad
Hi there,
when i use the tool toad connect to a remote oracle server which located in a different city,
when i submit a query in toad,
if the query returns many rows of data, it will raise the error ORA-03113:end-of-file on communication channel,
however if the query returns only a few rows, i won't raise such error,
however, when i use sqlplus connect to that remote server, it won't raise such error,
what's the reason is, can any one tell me how to tackle this problem if using the tool toad. thanks/hi my oracle vsersion is:
SQL> select * from v$version;
BANNER
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
CORE 11.2.0.1.0 Production
TNS for Linux: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production
my oracle server is 2 nodes rac server,
and i've tried two different kind version of toad v9.6 and v10.5, and both have the same problem
once i query a table, if the result returned more than 30 rows, then it will raise that error, if query returns less than 30 rows, it's ok.
i assume it is a problem concern with network, but i don't know why no such error raise when using sqlplus ? -
Can no longer select text in email template or read only field with mouse using IE or Firefox?
Hi Guys,
I can no longer select text in email template or read only field using my mouse in IE or Firefox anymore. We are using CRM 2011 rollup 18 applied with IE 11 and the latest version of Firefox. We only applied roll up 18 in Feb when this issue began.
Thanks
Dave
David KellyWhen you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can use this page:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category

SD card is suddenly read only (and it never used to be before).
I'm not tech-svvy at all, so I'll try to be as detailed as I can with my problem and hopefully some patient soul will be able to give me some step by step instructions on how to fix this haha.
I've had my MacBook Pro for about a year now and I haven't had a problem with transfering photos from my phone and camera onto it. My camera has an SD card and my phone has a Micro SD.
As of a few days ago, I've noticed that when I insert my SD card into the slot, there's an icon to the top left side of the window when I open it that never used to be there. It kind of looks like a pencil with a line going through it, but it still let me transfer photos to my computer, so I didn't think anything of it.
When I tried to transfer photos from my phone's Micro SD, it does the same thing. I can still transfer pictures to the computer without a problem.
The issue becomes when I want to transfer photos from my computer to the card for my camera or the one for my phone. I've tried to look through similar questions on here and elsewhere on the internet, but all I've been able to gather is that the little pencil with a line through it means my cards are in "Read Only" mode as opposed to the "Read and Write" that they should be in.
I don't recall making any changes to any sort of settings on this computer and I haven't had any recent updates to the software.
Also, none of the cards are locked. I know there's a little swtich to the side of them that manually makes them read only, but I never touch them and they're always 'unlocked' as it were.
Can anyone guide me through getting these settings back to the way they were?
(Since I'm technologically illiterate, I have no idea what operating system I'm on, so I apologize if this is an important factor in helping me.)The contact inside the SD card slot could be dirty. you can try to clean them by shutting the system down, get some electrical contact cleaner and put a small amount on the SD card contacts and push it in and out a few times. Let it dry for a few minutes (most of these type contact cleaners alcohol based and dry fairly fast) and power up the system. See if the cards are now Read+Write.
Also check the cards to see if the little switch hasn't been pushed into the Lock setting.
Even though these card may work in your camera and or phone they may be at the end of there life cycle. Try a NEW card and see if that makes a difference.
As a last resort you can always buy a external card reader and connect it to a USB port. Some SD cards come with a small SD card reader that plugs directly into a USB port. The only problem I've had with them is that some of them do not go in all the way on MBPs. The case of the MBP stops them from inserting all the way and or if you have something else plugged in to the other USB port there isn't enough room, right to left, to insert another device. Or you could spend some more money and have Apple Care fix it, that is if none of the above work.
Good Luck. -
Read-Only SD Card(s) - used to be able to read/write
Hello all,
I have searched teh forum and found a few similar threads but I believe my case is different.
For all 3 of my SD cards, they appear as read-only in my MBP (running 10.6.8), whether I connect them via the built-in card reader or via my camera (Panasonic GF1) hooked up to my MBP via USB.
I used to be able to import photos into iPhoto and then delete them from the card but this does not work any more (I do not even get prompted any more) as the card(s) is now read-only (Get Info tells me "Sharing & Permissions: You can only read"). Indeed if I try to delete, drag and drop a file onto it or even erase from disk utility, it will not let me.
Now, most threads dealing with this issue point to the card reader being faulty (or even the lock switch being in the wrong position). I am fairly sure this is not the case here as:
1) the behaviour occurs both through the built-in card-reader and the camera connection and
2) the camera does not "think" that the card is read-only, it can take new pictures, delete or format the card (note that I tried to "lock" the card with the switch and in that case the camera complains and cannot do anything with the card).
Moreover this occurs with all three cards.
On the other hand, my IPhone connected via USB is not locked to "read-only" (for example IPhoto asks me and does delete photos after import).
Thanks very much for any help on this - this is very puzzling! If you are using a DSLR camera, like for example a Canon 60D, there may be an option to use a "Low-Level Formatting" on the card. This should make it writable when putting it into the computer.
To test this (and confirm it works) I did the following:
Hardware Used:
Canon 60D camera body
Sandisk 32GB SDHC Extreme Card
Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2010 model) with built-in SD card slot.
Steps:
Place SDHC card into camera (SD card may work as well). Navigate through menu until you arrive at settings that allow the camera to format the card. There may be an option to format it "low-level", which you would then select.
-Note that all files on card will be erased permanently.-
After the camera formats, eject the card from the camera, and place inside the built-in SD slot on the Macbook.
The card should automatically mount, containing both read and write priviledges.
Hope that helps.

Files Created by external computer are read only on file server!
Not an indesign question but have searched and searched but can't find an answer, hoping someone in here has had same problem and know if it can be fixed.
Systems:
MacPro running snow lepoard as the file server
iMac reading and writing files to the Macpro given access to shared files.
Problem:
When the iMac saves any file types or creates directories everything the iMac makes on the Macpro system is read only to the Macpro user.
Only solution so far has been to give the iMac user an admin account on the MacPro then everything they create is not read only.
This works but its not the best of ideas to have them accessing system files and what have you.
Is there a way of making the iMac create files that are not read only without getting the server version of osx or giving them admin rights to the Macpro.
Any idea or suggestions would be great
Thank youProblem Solved!
It all came down to Ownership not shareing or perrmissions.
For anyone that might need to know:
in the get info dialog select the "Ignore ownership on this volume"

Problem Connecting Shared Variable to OPC Server
Hi All,
I use LBW 8.2.1 and DSC.
I try to connect to an OPC server : Emerson DeltaV
When using Datasocket, I am able to connect to the DeltaV OPC server and browse (DSTP Server) to the variables I want to Read/Write.
But, since I'll need to connect to hundreds of variables I want to use DSC and so the Shared Variables.
When I try to bind the variable, Labview cannot detect the DeltaV OPC Server... Browsing results in a "Populating Node" comment... But never completes...
Does anyone have a clue?
Thanx to All

LV 7.1 - WIN XP - RT - FPHi,
I do not trust datasocket for this. I already tried with LBW 7.1and after something like 150 datasocket connections to DeltaV OPC, some variables do not respond anymore.
It's kinda wierd. It happens to groups off variables. Just add one more connection and a all bunch off the other connections freeze. Remove it and it comes back...
One application Engineer of NI told me at the NiDays that datasocket was not meant for so many variables and that I had to use DSC.
He said something like : "Now you know why datasocket ships with Labview and that you have to pay for DSC..."
I'll take some screenshots to explain, but later... In fact, we are going to upgrade our DeltaV to version 8 or 9 soon (currently 7.4).

Connecting SnapManager to Local SQL server using command line
Are there any commands (PowerShell preferably) that can be used to connect SnapManager to Local SQL Server and configure it with mostly default configuration? I tried the import-config command using SnapManager for PowerShell, it gives configuration successful import message but does not establish connection to SQL server. Running the new-backup or clone-database commands after importing gives the message that SQL server is not connected and configured.
After more investigation and even more chocolate, we've identified the problem and it's now working. For anyone else who strikes this problem in future, here's something to check/consider/try:
Even though Squirrel SQL Client was connecting and working ok using the MS JDBC driver (v 3.0), it recorded this in its logs:
Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" and "Latin1_General_CI_AS" in the INTERSECT operation.
We've found that the open source jTDS driver does not have the same issue as the Microsoft one.
We've installed the current jTDS driver, recorded the driver name (net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver) and the JDBC URL (jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<hostname>:1433/<database>) and the connection is now working fine.
Hope this helps other people...
Thanks to those of you who offered suggestions and things to check...much appreciated.
