Before running sql developer i install the oracle instant client and sql plus, i use the same tnsnames.ora file as my windows machine and sqlplus (in snow leopard) connect perfect.
i set the path of my tnsnames in the setup of sql developer but i can't do it work.

Problem connecting SQL Developer 1.5.1 with Subversion 1.5 (win XP)
Hi I'm trying to connect the latest version of SQL Developer 1.5.1 to an svn version 1.5 repository.
I'm on a win XP machine. (svn is on Linux red hat)
The error I see is;
Testing read access for repository svn://<xxxxxxxxxxx>/var/svn...
svn: Malformed network data
svn: Malformed network data
Access refused.
I'm able to connect to other (older versions of svn) repositories.
I notice that SQL Developer uses SVNkit 1.1.6. and I have a feeling that this is not compatible with svn 1.5
Has anyone encountered this problem or has anyone successfully connected SQL DEV 1.5.1 to SVN 1.5?
Regards,
Patrick
note: the svn repository is a source code repository. (.java .class and .sql files.)
there is no DB data there, and no DB schema. (other than in the .sql files)
I'm saying this because I'm not an SQL specialist, (and even then, I'm mainly mysql!) and I seem to get the impression that source control to SQL guys might mean something slightly different. i.e. versioning a DB rather than the source code that creates a DB. If I'm wrong about this, apologies! ;)

If I'm wrong about this, apologies! ;)There are arguments both ways, but the current implementation in SQLDeveloper only supports version control on source files. IMO there needs to be a link between the vc repository, the source file you are working on and the object it creates in the database.
As it stands, you can edit and compile a procedure in the database, but if you don't remember to extract it back to its source file, you end up with a mismatch. Similarly, if you edit the source file and forget to run it into the database you end up with a mismatch. -
Problem accessing SQL Developer with user sys
Hi Experts;
I'm working with Oracle 10G, in Solaris 10, The DB apparently is working properly, but I can not access the DB thru SQL Developer. When I try to acccess with user sys, and I enter de password, in oracle role I select sysdba, when I choose connect I get this error message:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
However, I can connect with other user without any problem.
I was connecting directly in the server, with sqlplus /as sysdba and I changed the password for user sys, but still the problem continues.
What is wrong with this. I got the same problem if try to connect thru OEM.
Thanks and regards
Al

Thank you for answer.
First, I'm completely sure I'm using the correct password, to be sure I changed the password thru sqlplus.
I'm using tns connection, btw, with the same connection, I can connect, but with other user.
I was trying again, however, with the same results previous explained.
But also I have the same problen when I tried to connect to OEM, and I was trying to stop the dbconsole, and found this:
export ORACLE_SID=YAWIDBLAB
emctl status dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. /opt/oracle/102/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_yawi-db-lab01_YAWIBLAB not found.

Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g is running.
Logs are generated in directory /opt/oracle/102/yawi-db-lab01_YAWIDBLA/sysman/log
If I type export ORACLE_SID=YAWIDBLA and then sqlplus /nolog
SQL> connect /as sysdba
Connected to an idle instance.
But, when I connect settiong the SID in this way:
export ORACLE_SID=YAWIDBLAB
sqlplus /nolog

SQL> connect /as sysdba
Connected.
SQL>
Apparently, there is problem with the tnsnames. When I see the tnsnames in SQL DEVELOPER I see this: YAWIDBLA
So, here is the tnsname, in order you have a better idea, what I have.
YAWIDBLA =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = yawi-db-lab01)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = YAWIDBLAB)
Is the first time I see this kind of problem.
Have an idea of what's happening;
Best Regards;

Has anyone tried to connect SQL Developer to a FOXPRO database
Any ideas what this would take?
This may work for you. Create an empty Access database. Setup an ODBC connection in Windows to your Foxpro tables. Newer versions of Access no longer support table linking to Foxpro. Within Access link to the Foxpro tables (in 2007 this is under External Data, More, ODBC). Test that it works in Access. If it works, then make sure that System tables are viewable in Access, and exit Access (closing the database). In SQL Developer, you can create a connection to the Access database, and it should allow you to query the Foxpro tables via Access. I haven't tried it with Foxpro, but it works for other types of tables so it should work e.g. Paradox.

Problems using SQL*Loader with Oracle SQL Developer
I have been using TOAD and able to import large (milllions of rows of data) in various file formats into a table in an Oracle database. My company recently decided not to renew any more TOAD licenses and go with Oracle SQL Developer. The Oracle database is on a corporate server and I access the database via Oracle client locally on my machine. Oracle SQL Developer and TOAD are local on my desktop and connected through TNSnames using the Windows XP platform. I have no issues with using SQL*Loader via the import wizard in TOAD to import the data in these large files into an Oracle table and producing a log file. Loading the same files via SQL*Loader in SQL Developer, freezes up my machine and I cannot get it to produce a log file. Please help!
I am using SQL Developer version 3.0.04. Yes, I have tried it with a smaller file with no success. What is odd is that the log file is not even created. What is created is a .bat file a control file and a .sh file but no log file. The steps that I take:
1.Right click on the table I want to import to or go to actions
2. Import Data
3. Find file to import
4. Data Preview - All fields entered according to file
5. Import Method - SQL Loader utility
6. Column Definitions - Mapped
7. Options - Directory of files set
8. Finish
With the above steps I was not able to import 255 rows of data. No log file was produced so I don't know why it is failing.
thanks.

1. The oracle users APEX_LISTENER and APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER did not exist, so I ran apex_rest_config.sql from the APEX 2.4.1 patchset whilst connected sys as sysdba and provided the same password as APEX_PUBLIC_USER for both users.
2. I also ran
grant insert, delete on APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups to APEX_LISTENER;
alter session set current_schema = APEX_LISTENER;
create or replace synonym wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups for APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups;
as per Oracle SQL Developer User's Guide Release 4.0
3. copied ords.war to apex.war

Any help much appreciatedFurther to the above post, I thought I'd simplify my Apex Listener install just to see if I can connect to it via SQL Developer
So downloaded the latest version 2.0.8 and decided to configure and run the Listener on my pc whilst still connecting to the same database.
Operating system : Window 7 Pro 64 bit
Oracle Apex Listener 2.0.8
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)
Went through the configuration as above, once started I tried again to access the listener via SQL Developer. This time I received this output from the listener:
INFO: Error: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_RT$APPROVALS_SGID_FK) violated - parent key not found, occurred during execution of: [CALL, insert into wwv_flow_rt$approvals (user_name,status,client_id,security_group_id,created_by,created_on,updated_by,updated_on) values(/*in:user_id*/?,/*in:status*/?,/*in:client_id*/?,/*in:tenant_id*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?), [tenant_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [client_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [user_id, in, class java.lang.String], [status, in, class oracle.dbtools.rt.oauth.ApprovalRequest$Status], [created, in, class java.sql.Timestamp]]with values: [adminlistener, APPROVED, 3858401374580004, -1, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785]

Connect SQL Developer to APEX 4.0
I've just installed SQL Developer 3.0 and i want to connect it to my 10g XE database.
I APEX i have an account with all my applications tables and procedures, etc. The problem is that i can't access this account from SQL*Plus or from SQL Developer.
Any tip about how to connect SQL Developer to my APEX account?
Kind Regards,
Cearnau DanHi,
With SQL Developer you connect to database user/schema.
It is totally different thing than Apex users.
Apex users "lives in" workspace.
And database user/schema is what you assign to Apex workspace and use as application parsing schema.
I'm bad explain, but check this

SQL Developer 1.2.1 Build MAIN 32.13 (Windows XP)
We can't Update SQL Developer with Times Ten in-Memory DB Extension 1.2.1.1.0 :-((
We did the same actions as described in tutorial
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/viewlets/tt703_sqldev_install_ext_viewlet_swf.html
In addition to tutorial we have "Log In" window
"To download Oracle Times Ten in-Memory Database Extension
you must enter your Oracle Web Account user name and password"
This window was not displayed in tutorial...
We try to use three our OTN accounts and the result
was the same - we was asked with "User name" and "Password"
again, again, again and again,,, :-(
Is it a bug or a feature?
Mayby we didn't understand something or did something wrong?Hi Simon,
I found cause of update failure! It was the HTTP proxy setting.
I turned off "Use HTTP proxy server" checkbox in SQL Developer -> Tools -> Preferences -> Web Browser and Proxy.
After this action SQL Developer was successfully updated with Times Ten Extension.

Problem in SQL Developer installation
Recently i installed Oracle 11g but i could not connect sql developer. when i click sql developer icon it show pop-up box....
"*Enter the fullpath name for java.exe*".
i dont know from where i can get this path so that i can open sql developer. It's asking for an installed JDK 1.6
If you do not have it you can download one from here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u30-download-1377139.htmlMind you need the 64 bit JDK if you want to use the 64 bit SQLDeveloper and the 32 bit JDK for use with the 32 bit SQLDeveloper.
If you want to use the 32 bit SQLDeveloper you can also download the version with bundled JDK from here:
http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper-3.0.04.34.zipthis will not ask for a java.exe since a JDK in included in the package. -
SQL Developer with Mac Os X 1.3.9
Greetings,
I am running Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.3) on my Powerbook G4 1 GHz with 768 MB ram. After reading the requirements for SQL developer for OS X, I thought I would try to install it. Unfortunately there seems to be a conflict in the requirements for installing SQL developer.
"Operating System
Apple Mac OS X Version 10.3
CPU Type and Speed
Dual 1.25 GHz G4/G5 (1 GHz G4 minimum)
Memory
256 MB RAM
Display

Java SDK
Sun J2SE 1.5 release 1, available at ...
" from http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B28240_02/install.htm#CIHDJBJG
The J2SE 1.5 release is currently only available for OS X 10.4 and higher, so apparently you need this os version to run SQL developer. Is this correct? Is there a SQL Developer version that will run on OSX 10.3 that is running the J2SE 1.4.2 release?Sorry the subject heading should read:
SQL Developer with Mac Os X 10.3.9
