Problem connecting to itunes for iOS 4.3.2 software update on iphone 3GS

i'm having problems updating my iphone 3GS to iOS 4.3.2 software due to a network issue. when i run a diagnostic, it says that a secure link to itunes store failed. i don't have a firewall or any security software that prevents the connection. i also can't update my apps through itunes because it can't connect. i currentyly have the iOS 4.2.1 version. what can i do to solve this?? HELP!

Hi,
Connect your iPhone to your computer. Launch iTunes. Make sure you see your iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window.
Now click the Summary tab from the menu and click Check for Update.

  • I connected to itunes on my computer to and i updated my iphone and now the SIM is not recognised so I can only make emergency calls

iTunes offered to update my old iphone to version 3. something and now the phone doesn't work because it says the SIM is incompatible.
This is the sane SIM that was working fine before the update.
    I even uploaded some photos.
How can i get back the old version of iphone software so that it accepts my SIM

The original owner has a new iphone and he gave me this one. All we did was put my SIM card in and it worked; I'm sure he didn't have to hack it to unlock it. He just had this old phone lying around.
How can he authorise unlocking it if he doesn't have the same SIM anymore -he'smoved countries a few times.

Hello, I hope by now you have resolved the upgrade issue, but if not, here is what I ended up having to do:
“SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:
    “Hi all,
I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
    Can anyone help? Please?!
    Thank you!!!
P.S. We have a PC, with Windows XP Home.”
Now, there seem to be a lot of different ways to solve the 8288 error, none of which are universal. Best of luck getting yours upgraded!

P.S. The post by Sparkhi is a link to his blog going into a long story about how he wanted Apple to pay him for “solving” the issue….the one that apparently has been solved by multiple solutions. I’m not trying to bash, it just bothers me that he put up this whole story and finally, at the very end of his blog post, posts his solution.

  • I upgraded to iOS 7 yesterday on my iphone and now none of my apps shows me any new message and when i open the apps it says "Connect to itunes for push notifications". Please help!!!

I upgraded to iOS 7 yesterday on my iphone and now none of my apps shows me any new message and when i open the apps it says "Connect to itunes for push notifications". Please help!!!

Same here.  I don't know how to solve the problem, but I figured out a way to close the app without re-starting or resetting the phone.  If you click ok and then press the home button twice really fast before the dialog box shows back up, you can put the phone in multi-tasking mode and close the app without having the shut the phone off or reset it.  Anxiously awaiting the fix for this since I have several apps I use that I can access at the moment.

  • HT4623 "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear on the Whatapps screen repeatedly after my iPhone 4 was upgraded with IOS 7.0.4.

After my iPhone 4 was upgraded to IOS 7.0.4, some of the apps cannot be used instantly as before. For example, the Whatapps does not alert unless I open the apps manually. Then a message "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear. Even I tried connect to itunes for sync again, this problem still cannot be resolved. The same problem applies to some other apps like  Runkeeper. Don't know why.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • TS3297 ITunes for IOS does not display any content in the iTunes store

iTunes for IOS does not display any content in any section (other than Genius tab).
NB: I am signed in with my Apple ID & have an Internet connection.
On selecting say the "Music" tab the display briefly say's "Loading ...", but nothing displays, just a white screen.
I have tried signing out of iTunes & re-setting the iPad, but this does not fix the problem.
(The App Store is working fine!)

  • Whenever i open certain apps i get the connect to itunes for push notifications over and over again and im unable to play the game, how do i fix this?

hey guys i have a question,
so i have the same problem for two of my apps, one is biike race, and the other game is snap chat. so each time i open one of these games i repeatedly get the "connect to itunes for push notifications" box coming up, and im unable to play the game, and i have to click my home button multiple times to get back to the main screen. i dont understand why this is happening and maybe you could help me out.

There are a few other threads in this forum regarding this issue. It appears to me that this was once an issue with the iPhone, but has now started up again after the upgrade to iOS 4. My iPod Touch is ~ 2 years old and has had absolutely no problems. It is not jailbroken or altered in any way.
This pop-up started for me after upgrading to iOS 4. I did the restore to factory, reinstalled my apps and the problem returned. It appears my push notifications are working, which is good, but I have to click through the pop-up every time I enter an app that uses notifications.
This will go away when Apple fixes it.

  • Haven't been able to connect to itunes for 3 days. Says connection error but im connected to the internet

I haven't been able to connect to itunes for 3 days. It says theres a connection error, yet I am connected to the internet.  I have redownloaded itunes and still get this message.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

    Hello AlexCornejo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode.  Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
After following those steps, you should be able to restore your iPhone.
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • When I was talking on phone, suddenly the phone was switched off. i tried to switch it on but it gave the message....connect to itunes for set up.  when I connected it to itunes...it gave the message, itunes can not read data from this iphone, restore it

when I was talking on phone, suddenly the phone was switched off.
i tried to switch it on but it gave the message....connect to itunes for set up.
when I connected it to itunes...it gave the message, itunes can not read data from this iphone, restore it to factory settings. It also said while restoring ypu will lose all media data but you can restore the contacts.
I restored the factory settings....the phone was on recovery mode...it was verified by itunes and all that..but in the end it again said that iphone has some problem and can not function right now.
after that when ever i connect it with itunes, it gives the message, it can not activate the iphone further, try again later or contact customer service.
What to do now?????? Customer service people say..it is hardware problem

If it's a hardware problem, then the phone will need to be replaced.
There is no magic that can fix a hardware problem.
