Problem connection between airport bases

Hello everyone
I would like to ask a question if someone could give me a solution if it exists
I own four bases airport installed in a three-story house in this way:
Airport Extreme configured as "creates wireless network" on the third floor
Airport Express (Express1) configured as "access to the wireless network" always on the third floor
Airport Express (Express2) configured as "extend wireless network" on the second floor
Airport Express (Express3) configured as "extend wireless network" on the first floor.
All airport bases are updated to firmware 7.6.4
Occasionally the network configuration changes, and when it's like in "Fig 1", the wireless network signal on the first floor is very weak, and when the configuration is as in "Fig 2" signal on the first floor is at maximum capacity and will takes for all the floor.
I already tried to change the radio channel, to enter ip fixed on airport express but without resolving anything.
Do you have ideas about?

It's OK if Express 3 gets a signal from Express 2, as long as it gets a significantly stronger signal from the AirPort Extreme than it does from Express 2.
Yes, I over exaggerated the situation..
My problem is in the middle of a repair where I have an old TC connected by wireless in extend mode to my main TC in the next room is the rest of the network on extend then goes haywire.. so I have seen the effect.. and it seems difficult to stop it although you did find an improvement in selecting a particular unit to extend..
I need to get over my laziness btw and run ethernet to the places that have so far missed out.. there is only one area.. but it means going right around via the ceiling or right through bottom and up double storey outside wall.. I had the whole house wired 10base2 from 1994 and it worked great.. so easy to simply put another outlet into the single run of coax.. and it seemed super fast back then.. Move on 20 years.. and doing it all again in Cat6 doesn't thrill so much. It is also against certain rules in Australia.. shhh . You cannot do your own data cabling.. !! Such is the state we live in.. !! Of course all my data cabling was installed before the law changed.. You can tell because I wrote the date on it .. 2006 just yesterday. This is called sarcasm btw.. !! Cat cable has a date on it.. and I keep a roll from 1993 for the job.. yuk yuk yuk.

  • Problem connecting to Airport Extreme Base Station

I have two computers on my network. Both computers are losing the connection to the base station. When the computers lose the connection they cannot find the base station, even if you restart them. When this happens, the base station still has a green light. The amount of time it happens for vary. Sometimes it is once a day. Lately it has been every 30 minutes or so, which is getting pretty tedious. I used to think it was losing connection due to using a Bittorrent client, because it was always open when that happened, but I haven't used that for some time now. One computer is an iBook and one is a MacBook and both have Tiger on them. It is very frustrating.

  • My iPad 2 struggles to connect to Airport Base Extreme

    Hello.
I am new to this site and relatively new to Apple products as well. I purchase an iPad 2 a while back that usually had pretty poor connection to my old router and modem. A month ago my modem died and was replaced by the cable company with a brand new one, very quick, 15-20mbps. At the same time I updated my router because I couldn't get a very good signal across the house on my iPad. I purchased a new Apple Extreme Airport Base ($200). Setup was incredibly simple through the iPad and took less than a minute. The problem I am having is that the iPad has a very poor connection to the Airport Base. My laptops and video game systems all have a perfect connection, but the iPad continually loses connection and is very slow to load. At the office we have a netgear router and it works perfectly there.
Being new to Apple I have no idea what to do about fixing this. All my non Apple products work perfect on the Apple router, but the iPad 2 does not. Can anyone help trouble shoot this or know the steps to create a better connection between the two? I included a screenshot of the router/modem on the Airport Base Utility screen from the iPad.
Below is a screen shot on the iPad to show that it is connected, but it still struggles.  Thanks for any tips!

  • Macbook OSX 10.6.8 pro wont connect to airport base station anymore

all other machines have  no problems.  It worked earlier in the day-put to sleep-came back- now it can't something is wrong with network settings but nothing changed.  Two PC's are connected to same cable/Airport base station wirelessly with no issues it's just my machine.  I've rebooted a few times-that didn't help.  i can get my macbook's airport to work with my wireless aircard so it's not my the internal wireless modem, it's got to be my wireless settings for the airport basestation itself-but nothing chagned in those few hours it was asleep?  I have been having issues for a few weeks requiring that I run diagnosis on this home wireless network connection, but it usually gets resolved and coems back on-now it seems gone.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  I am not sure if it helps but it looks, when I renew the DHP, nothing is in the router section.
(not that technically savvy-but usually can wing it if the directions are too bad).
    This is running OSX 10.6.8
    Thanks,
    Megan

Your System Preferences > Network > TCP/IP  should be set as follows
    IPv4 - DHCP
IPv6 - off (for now, you might have to enable it in the future, but it can be off for now)
There is nothing in the DHCP Client ID box as it's not required.
If your clicking the "renew lease" likely means your date and time on the computer is wrong.
Go to System Preferences > Date and Time and set a time zone and in the first screen, set the date and time automatically. then reboot the computer.
If your having  problems with your computer remembering the date and time,
    perform a PRAM reset
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html
If your still having problems with your machine holding the date and time, not keep ing your System Preferences changes after a reboot, then open your
Users/Library/Preferences folder and look for a file called
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
and move it to the Desktop, reboot the computer and try to set the date and time again, reboot to see if it works remmebering your system preferneces changes, if it does, then delete the desktop file.
If your still having trouble after that, create a new user account and log into it, see if the problem still continues.

  • Problems setting up airport base station

I have been trying to setup my airport extreme base station to. When I did it the first time, all of my lights were green on the left except for internet and server. I changed some things and now my AEBS can not be detected when I start from airport utility.
    What do I do????

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes.
Power-up the base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, computers connected to the base station, either by wire or wireless (as appropriate for the base station type), should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options.

  • Any problems replacing an Airport base station?

I'm replacing my old Airport base station (pre 2005) with the current model. Are there any problems or practices I should be aware of?

It is always best to start fresh when changing out networking hardware.
Anytime you change networking hardware it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of that hardware. Check out the following AirPort User Tip for details. Please post back your results.

  • --problem connecting using airport xreme--

    hello,
can any one help me..to connect to internet using my new airport xtreme..
1.i have cable connected to the Base sation-(WAN)--we have wan connection(Hope it is correct)
    2. i did not see the any light glowing back of the airport station..i don't know the reason..it is glowing in the LAN ports but not in the WAN.port.
    3. In the network i see the green light says.. u have connected to the internet through the base station.. but the indication in the base station glows amber(flashing)
i know when the connection is established the indication will be green;; but not happening..pls help
    stars n sky

    Howdy!
If you and your computers are all happy with the way the AEBS (n) is set up, you can get the light to stop blinking (it is whining at you when it blinks).
Open the AEBS (n) with the AirPort utility, and you should see the entry "Base Station Status:" on the second line in the Summary screen. It will say something like "error", and if you click on the yellow status light, the AEBS (n) will go to another screen telling you why it is whining. On this screen, you can tell the AEBS (n) not to bother you with the error. It should make the light stop blinkin' and go green.
However, I would suggest that you fix the issue; but as I said, if you and your computers are happy, you can make the AEBS (n) forget about the error.
    Cheers!

  • Those having problems connecting to AirPort Extreme/Express in Windows XP

Today, I just bought an AirPort Extreme and had no problems setting it up and connecting to it in Mac OS X. Well, I booted Windows via Boot Camp and wasn't able to connect to it at all. I had no idea why when my network was being broadcast and had a very strong signal. Well, I did some searching and found out the cause. Well, I had my network secured via WPA2. XP does not support WPA2. Microsoft released a Hotfix that addresses this problem.
    This website explained the problem.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305275
This website is where you can download the hotfix.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917021
After I downloaded that hotfix, I was able to connect to my AirPort Extreme in Windows.

It sounds like your room mate has set up WEP security on this base station. If you cannot convince her to use WPA (a more secure protocol that is also less problematic to use cross-platform) take a look at the advice and tips for Windows XP and Vista found at http://tech.ifelix.net/airport.html

  • Help ! - Connection between airport extreme and airport express

I have a home network with an iBook connecting wirelessly to an aiport extreme base station and an iMac connecting through an Airport Express, which has been configured as a relay to the base station (extending its range). The iMac is on the fourth/attic floor of my house; the iBook on the main floor.
The iMac has a printer attached to it; the iBook does not.
I have only intermittently been able to "see" the printer from my iBook and to print to it. Simiarly, i have only been intermittently been able to pull files from the iMac on to the iBook. I have no trouble connecting to the internet with either machine.
Why does the network keep dropping the airport-express-connected imac (and printer)? what can i do? help!

Sounds like an interferance problem to me. Do you have a cordless phone? You can try changing the channel on the AEBS or enable internet robustness.

  • Lost connection between airport time capsule and extreme, can't get extreme back in network, says connection excellent

I have 2 terabyte Time capsule, last gen, not newest.  I have a similar airport extreme to extend my network.  I was running Lion.  I upgraded to Maverick to see if it would fix this problem, and it did not.  When using airport utility, latest version, it says that the extreme has an excellent connection, but fails to extend the network. This started the last time I upgraded Lion.  I have tried rebooting, renaming the extreme to no avail.  I moved it to the same room as the time capsule, no luck.

    Hello Thomas,
You may want to try performing a factory reset on the AirPort Extreme.
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.

  • MacBook Pro - Can't connect to Airport Base Station in XP

I have a new MacBook Pro running 10.4 and Win XP using Boot Camp. I also have an Airport Extreme Base Station. The MacBook finds and can use the base station perfectly when booted to 10.4. When booted into XP, it just keeps saying that it can't see any wireless networks (none available). I've tried rebooting the base station, repairing the connection in windows - Pretty much everything I can think of, but still no joy. It's really starting to stick in my craw. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get this to work I'd appreciate the help, as having to re-boot the Mac to copy stuff across to my G5 constantly is super annoying.....
    Thanks

Thank you! It's very difficult for me to even mention the "W" word without somehow belittling it. I truly loathe using that OS, but am sadly forced to since we use Access for writing up orders. Woe is me!

  • Bluetooth problem connection between 2 Mac

I'm trying to connect by Bluetooth my iMac 10.5.5 to my Powerbook G4 10.4.11 - If I check the Bluetooth system preferences, I can read "matched -> yes; Configured ->yes ; Prefered -> yes ; Connected -> NO ; serial port -> yes . MY PROBLEM is they don't connect to each other. When I try the option "change serial port" they get connected for one second (green spot) but after 1 sec. the spot turns red.. I don't know what is wrong. Thankyou for helping me

I "think" (reaching back into memories more than 10 years ago) I think you need a "Crossover" cable - not a standard Ethernet cable.
Can you use a Firewire cable and boot one of the computers in Target Disk Mode?
    Home Index
Transferring files between two computers using FireWire
If you have two Mac computers that are FireWire-equipped, you can connect them so that one of them appears as an external hard disk on the other. This is called “target disk mode.”
    To transfer files using FireWire:
Connect the two computers with a FireWire cable.
Start up the computer to be used as a disk in target disk mode:
If the computer is off, start it up while holding down the T key.
If the computer is on, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Startup Disk, and then click Target Disk Mode.
When the computer has started up, a disk icon appears on the desktop of the other computer.
Transfer files by dragging them to and from the disk.
Eject the disk by dragging its icon to the Trash. (While you drag, the Trash icon changes to an Eject icon.)
On the computer you used as a disk, push the power button to shut it down, and then disconnect the FireWire cable.
If one of the computers is running Mac OS 9, it must have FireWire version 2.3.3 or later installed. Use Apple System Profiler (in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder) to check the version of FireWire installed. If it is an older version, get an update at the Apple FireWire website.

  • Having problems connecting an AirPort Express in client mode to a Linksys?

I have a Linksys WRT150N as my main access point. I recently dumbed down its security to WPA2 Personal so a Dell, and Xbox 360 could get on it wirelessly. Unfortunately, my AirPort Express refuses to connect now even after re-configuring it to use WPA. Its light just blinks Amber.
Does anyone else have an AirPort Express connected in client mode to a Linksys access point using WPA Personal security? I vaguely recall that I had this problem before, and solved it by using WPA2. Perhaps it's time to get an Apple TV for playing music on the home theater...
    Thanks.

Hi, Bill!  Actually, no--the AE is creating its own wireless network with the same SSID and password as the Time Capsule.  I had big problems with bandwidth degredation when I tried to extend the network like that.
But I believe I tracked down the cause of the issue--the powerline adapter was losing its connection with the other powerline adapter for some reason.  Still observing that one, but all the Apple stuff appears to be operating normally.  Thanks for the replay anyway!

  • Problems connecting to Airport Disk

Have an airport Extreme with 1 Hard drive now installed. I have two Macbooks and a MacPro that can access the sharepoint fine but I have on Macbook Pro which will not connect, it seems that Finder just waits forever for a connection. I can connect to the network OK just not the disk
What have I screwed up on the mac? Is there a plist or something I need to delete or reset?
    Thanks

Problem solved it was the AEBS. Powered it down for 30secs then restarted seemed to solve the problem. Obviously Resetting it from the Airport Utility does not fully "Reset" it.

  • Imac w/airport on't connect to airport base

    Hi-
I have just inherited a 800Mhz 17" flat panel iMac. I purchased an Airport card which I've just installed. The network preference screen shows my network but I can't connect. It is an Airport Extreme b/g- the little white spaceship. I am using WPA2 security. Is there a work around that will allow me to use my Macbook and the new iMac with this network?
    Thanks for your help.
    --pat

I have encountered a similar problem. I have an iMac flat panel G4 running 10.4 and connect wirelessly through a Belkin PreN router. I use MAC addressing and my other computers (One Intel Imac (10.5.4); One G5 Imac (10.5.4); Two Macbooks (10.5.4) and one G4 IBook (10.4) all connect without a problem. Whether Mac Addressing is turned on or off the iMac flat panel does not connect-- although it sees the router; asks if I want to connect and then tells me there is an error. What is stranger is that there are very infrequent times that it has connected and worked without making any changes. I think that the bottom line is that the protocols for the airport card are just too out of date to run properly with newer standards.
