Problem: Contact Headshot Picture Images Corrupted

I just purchased a new 80GB iPod and love it. I've only noticed one problem, and it's starting to weigh on me:
I have a "me" Address Book contact on the iPod and the picture associated with my card looks fine. I decided to add a few more headshot pictures for contacts who are members of my family. I added the images to each of the respective contacts in Address Book and then synced the iPod with iTunes to update the contacts on my iPod.
When I look the updated contacts, however, the headshot picture for each one is corrupted. The top 2/3 of the image is fine, but it then dissolves into mush in the bottom 1/3 of the image. When I check the same contacts in Address Book, they look fine.
I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm using a 17" Mac PowerBook G4 with OSX 10.4.10 and Address Book 4.05.

i've had the exact same problem on my 60gig iPod video.
i've done numerous things to try and correct it but with no success. apple support said to restore my iPod. i didnt think that would work, and it didn't. after restoring and resyncing all my contacts have varying degrees of corruptness.
it is my opinion that there is a cache file on the Mac NOT THE iPOD, that maintains the contact photos, and that file itself is corrupt. i've not had any success with apple suppport or my local apple store with finding someone who can identify where the images are cached at, so i can dump them and solve the problem. oddly enough a Safe Boot, which is suppose to dump all the Apple caches, does not appear to get this one.
i've even tried to select a whole new image for a contact, but it too will come out looking corrupt.
i agree, it's very disturbing. the other problem i'm having is i now own an iPhone. guess what, the images appear normally on it!!! so that only backs up my assumption that there is a cache somewhere for the contact images that sync to the iPod, and it is corrupt with no way to wipe it out.
if you find a solution, PLEASE let me know.

  • Brand new MBP built in iSight image corruption

    I bought a new 15" MBP in September. 2.8 Ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb HD, one of the nicer, new models.
    I haven't had a need to use the built-in iSight since then, but as I'm going abroad for a year in a few months and will be keeping in touch with my fiancee using it, I decided to give it a try and make sure everything is set up right.
    Every time I turn the camera on it starts working just fine but within about 15 seconds it freezes, with multi-colored lines stretching across the last frame that it displays. Once it does that you need to quit whatever application you're in that is using the camera, let the camera turn off, and then re-launch the app, after which you get about another 15 seconds of functionality.
    It does this across multiple apps. I have tested Photobooth, iMovie, and iChat and all show the exact same problem.
    Some googling has suggested that I clear the PRAM (did nothing) and clear something that's name escapes me right now (I had to hold down the left hand alt-ctrl-shift keys with the computer shut off and press the power button), but neither of those fixes did anything.
    Is this a hardware issue, or is there something else I can try?
    here is a link to a picture that shows what this "corruption" looks like - Photo Booth at least has no problem actually taking a picture while the camera is frozen up like this, but it can't take any other picture than the one the camera gets frozen on.

    You are wise to practice with your iSight before your major travel.
    For any iSight trouble, start with Apple's "How to Troubleshoot iSight"

    If your iSight problem occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there sometimes restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
    However, the image you linked and all the things you have already tried lead me to believe that yours is most likely a hardware problem. Unless the Troubleshooting corrects your problem, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service. If your new Mac was bought from a local retailer, your retailer may be able to offer the best and fastest help.

    VJO not defined & image corrupt or truncated
    I am getting this error when the computer renders some websites. It happens with ebay & on youtube. It shows the text but no pictures or background. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and Firefox 4.0.1 it also happens in the newest version of FF & in safe mode , I have installed the latest Java runtime with no change ,but interstingly if I turn on "in private browsing" FF runs OK.
    I have run Firefox in safe mode, I have uninstalled completely using the APPS own uninstaller & then cleaned up all the files left behind with a 3rd party uninstaller I have updated Firefox to the newest release & rolled back to v4.0.1,I have disabled all addons & AV & malware apps (just for a minute)I have even tried a system restore. Also the "VJO not defined" only happens with FireFox & not with IE.interestingly FireFox runs fine if I enable "in private browsing"

  • Image Corruption in ACR/Bridge CS 6:

    Shooting 1D mk lV, all image shot in RAW; Mac Pro Dual Core Xeon, ATI Radeon HD 5770. Downloads are via card reader.
    Bridge/ACR will randomly take the first image I open and corrupt it. It could be per set of images or just the first image of the day. This is usually not a problem as my first images are usually just test/set up shots. This morning it screwed me royally.
    I edited a shoot last night and put my highlight images into a separate folder. I then did ACR corrections and ran a batch for logo'd sample images and sent them to the client.
    This morning I start up my computer and open the highlight image folder, select the 5 highlights, click on 'open in camera raw' and they pop up and after 2 seconds the first image corrupts.
    I have tried copying the image to other drives as well as to my Mac Pro laptop and it does the same thing every time. Purging cache for selection doesn't work.
    Copying the original in finder to another drive doesn't work (this has worked in the past).
    This has happened in the past and I did find a fix of deleting a certain file in the adobe library (and it recreates it). I did save the page where I found the fix but haven't been able to find it.
    I have re-created the ACR cache as well as the Bridge caches. After recreating the caches and clicking 'purge cache for selection' it briefly pops back the original and then corrupts again.
    I've tried increasing cache size and various cache options.
    When I view the file in finder, the tiny thumbnail shows the correct image but the preview shows corrupted image.
    If I view the image in Canon's Digital Photo Professional, it pops up for a second normally and then corrupts itself.
    I'm guessing it's a deep cache issue...I have well over a million images that have passed through CS6. I regulary clean my caches but am I missing something somewhere???
    Any suggestions from anyone???

    Doubleclicking on the files in Bridge causes that quicktime or VLC or itunes (depending on the file format) will open that, but bridge does not handle anything?!
    Bridge CC and Bridge CS6 both handle my .mov files from EOS 1Dx and iPhone without any problems. The show in the preview window and can be played with sound in this same window. (MacPro with 10.8.4)
    Purging cache is what it is, it dumps the previous cache of the preview and forces Bridge to create a new one, nothing else is set to default.
    First try a reset of preferences and hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs. then try again.

    It means that root is current directory.
    For setting VBAI as current directory it should be something like
    CWD VBAI
    250 OK. Current directory is /VBAI
    PWD
    257 "/VBAI" is your current directory.
    Try to remove VBAI from Folder path and leave this setting just empty. Then your images should be written into root directory. Also you have selected option "Log images when inspection status FAIL". May be your status PASS? In this case images will be not logged. Try to change this option to "Log Image".

  • Problem with placing dynamic images.

    I have a 800x600 file. It is being used for a PhotoSlide
    show.
    The images are displayed dynamically, as external files.
    Some of the photos will be taken 1 hour before the
    presentation, so I have
    it set up to display img001.jpg, img002.jpg, img003.jpg as
    external files.
    Once the photos are taken, they'll be renamed, and placed in
    the appropriate
    folder, so that they'll appear in the presentation, without
    having to
    republish the authorware file.
    I have the display icons for the images set to display the
    image at 400,300,
    which will center the image on-screen.
    The problem is that when i change the images out, from a
    verticle to a
    horizontal picture, then run the piece, but image's placement
    on screen
    changes.
    So how can I set the linked external file to ALWAYS display
    centered on
    screen, no matter the orientation, or size of the picture.

    That doesn't change anything from when I had X = 400 and
    Y=300.
    The images are linked externally.
    This is going to be a photo slideshow to be shown after a
    wedding, during
    the reception. I will NOT be there to administer this, or to
    republish the
    authorware files. So at the final segment of the slideshow,
    we'll be showing
    several photos taken earlier, at the wedding.
    I have it set up to display 5 photos from the wedding. They
    are grabbed
    externally, but Authorware looking for img01.jpg - img05.jpg.
    The problem is that the image's placement on-screen changes
    when a different
    size image is put in place.
    For example, if i publish the authorware file, and i was
    using a 720 x 480
    image, everything works fine. But if i replace the external
    image with a 480
    x 720 image, the placement on screen is no longer set for the
    center of the
    image to appear at the dead center of the screen (400,300). I
    need it to
    work like this, since I don't know if the wedding photos
    being added will be
    set to portrait or landscape.

  • Recover contacts and pictures

    I cannot get my phone to turn on. I need and want to recover my contacts and pictures from the phone. Is there anyway to do this?

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    Without the ability to power it up, no...well, not without spending lots of money on some recovery service that may or may not exist. Unless the information is on a Media Card, in which case you can remove it and use a PC card reader adapter to get those things (as long as you didn't have encryption active, of course).
    So maybe instead we need to focus on getting your BB running again...please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
    With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
    Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
    Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
    It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
    Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
    Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
    The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
    Good luck and let us know!

  • Deleting contact's picture in Address Book (so frustrated)

    I can't seem to accomplish this. Each time I delete the contact's picture, it immediately reappears.
    I think the picture was automatically added back when I was using Adium. (I've since swiped Adium from my computer and only use iChat and Mail.)
    I've deleted a file for her contact in ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook/, however each time I delete that and then proceed to delete the picture from the contact, the picture not only reappears, but so does the file in this cache folder! This contact is the only one in which I am experiencing this strange behavior, and it is the only contact with a file in that cache folder. Yikes!
    I've also tried deleting the contact from my iChat, and even deleting the contact from my address book and re-adding. When I re-add, the picture reappears. Grrrrrr.........
    Any ideas?
    Also.. this is a contact with a MobileMe account. I too have a MobileMe account. The picture crap only happens when I add their MobileMe email to the contact, and the picture deletes itself if I delete the MobileMe email. Again, this only happen with this single contact, even though I have other contacts with MobileMe addresses in my Address Book.

  • How to transfer contacts and pictures from iPhone to iPad

    I am trying to transfer my contacts and pictures from my iphone 5s to a new ipad air, tried doing it in the icloud by that doesnot work for some reason

    If the music was purchased from iTunes then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer). If the music came from other sources and you don't have a copy of them anywhere else, then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which might be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
    For photos taken with the phone then on a PC you can use the windows camera wizard, and on a Mac you can use Image Capture, iPhoto or Aperture : copying photos. To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

  • Symbian Anna - Contacts with Pictures attached

    On Outlook, I've attached some pictures to some of my contacts (pictures of their faces).
    I sync these contacts to the new E6 phone, operating Symbian Anna
    When someone calls me, or when I call someone, these pictures show up on the phone. The problem however, is that a grey box that says "Calling..." pops up on top of the picture with the name and the phone number in the box. Roughly 40% of the picture is blocked on the bottom side.
    The weird thing is that there are a few of my contacts whose picture floats ABOVE the grey "Calling..." box. These are the exception though. Most of my contacts with pictures have half their face covered by this box.
    I want to see the person's full face. How do I either, (1) turn off the calling box, or (2) make the pictures float above the calling box?
    Thanks for helping!

    I get the name band accross the contact picture, but probably only over 20% of it, however I have the E7, and it may be something to do with the aspect ratio of the screen on the E6 that is causing the issue, as it does with some games/apps ? All I could suggest is checking some of the pictures that work ok and setting the others to the same dimentions as those ?
    Good Luck

  • Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet

    hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
    Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5
    here is one of my image servlet's working versions (the essential part of it) :
                   BLOB blob=null;
              rset=st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM IMAGES WHERE ID=1");
              while (rset.next())
                   blob=((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(2);
              response.reset();
              response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
              response.addHeader("Content-Disposition","filename=42.jpeg");
                    ServletOutputStream ostr=response.getOutputStream();
                   InputStream istr=blob.getBinaryStream(1L);
                    int size=blob.getBufferSize();
              int len=-1;
                    byte[] buff = new byte[size];
                         while ((len=istr.read( buff ))!=-1 ) {
                   ostr.write(buff,0,len);
             response.flushBuffer();
             ostr.close(); and my JSP page code :
    <img src="/ImageServlet" border="0"  > If you could just tell me what i'm doing wrong here , or if you could show me your own solutions to that problem , i would be very greatful ,cos i'm realy stuck here , and i'm rather pressed for time too. Hope someone can help.

    I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.
    here's the magic tag : <img src="ImageJSP.jsp" border="0"  > enjoy : )

    In this case, the ImageLoader.as works only on the last movie clip from the for loop. For example, if i am trying to load three image in three movie clips namely img_mc1,img_mc2 and img_mc3 using the for loop and ImageLoader.as, I am getting the image loaded in the third movie clip only img_mc.
    See at the same time, If i uncomment onething in the for loop that is
    //imgLoader=new ImageLoader;
    its working like a charm. But I know creating class objects in a for loop is not a good idea and also its causes some other problems in my application.
    So, help to get rid out of this problem.
    Thanks
