Problem Controlling Sliders Accurately

Since Apple archived my previous post with this same subject, I've started a new one.
I was having trouble controlling the Video Adjust sliders in iMovie '09 accurately with my mouse.
Well the solution is, you can adjust them far more accurately using the keyboard. If you click on the little icons at either end of the sliders, the current value (number) will change by 10. However, if you command click on the icons, the current value will change by 1.
So you can very easily change the Saturation from 100% to 101%. Or change the Exposure from 98% to 97%.

Give the control focus (Using TAB key)
the SHIFT and arrow (UP)
Interestingly its the same for both sliders
(Ergonimic disaster or Windows native)?

I used to be able to control the sliders on my earlier Adobe Elements with my middle wheel on my mouse but on installing 12 version this does not seem to work any more, which is a great pity as it was so precise. Can anyone be of help with any suggestions?

There are a couple of timesaving tricks. Open an image and go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Brightness/Contrast.
Click in the box that has the number at the right-hand end of the brightness slider. Now you can use the scroll wheel to increase/decrease the brightness.Hover the mouse over the word Brightness at the left-hand end of the brightness slider and the cursor will change to a double headed arrow with a pointing finger and hand in the middle. Now click and hold the left mouse button. Move the mouse left/right to decrease/increase the brightness level. Cheers,

Problems controlling Microsoft Access with ActiveX

I have done quite a bit of searching on this topic, and have found several answers that are close, but do not address my actual problem.
I would like to use ActiveX to control Microsoft Access, specifically to create new database files without having to copy a blank file I have stored somewhere. I also can't stand it when I can't get something to work, so this is now a personal thing too.
Anyway, when I run a simple VI to open the creatable reference Access._Application, I get the error: "Error 3005 occurred at Automation Open: Object specified is not creatable in Access.vi". I have tried a lot of the common answers to this problem, like browsing for the library in the ActiveX window, and trying to register it with regsvr32, but the file is msacc.olb, which cannot be registered with regsvr32.exe. I have attached the original VI and I have tried this on 3 different PCs, all with slightly different installs of Office, but all with Access 2007. If anyone can help me figure this out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Your vi gave the same error on my machine. Then I deleted the Access._Application reference, right-clicked on the reference input and selected Create Control. Then I changed the Active-X Class by browsing to my computers version of the reference ("Access._Application.12"). The same vi ran without error.
The class still shows as Access._Application, which indicates that there may be an incompatibility which is not visible.
When and activeX node fails to run when copied from any other machine, it is recommended to Replace each node that generates the error and reselect the properties and methods.

*Problem controlling what is sent to the FOH speakers*

I use a Presonus Firestudio Project as my audio interface, and I have been having trouble sending different audio tracks to the correct places.
My overal goal is to send my bands intro, bass drops, inbetween song sampling, and outro to the front of house...
While sending audio tracks of our recordings (with click) to my headphones (I use Logic Pro 9 as my DAW).
After searching every online support discussion I could find...
I read that in order to send a click to just the drummer (me), and a separate backing track to the front of house you need to create 2 busses.
Send all the audio tracks you WANT the audience to hear (front of house) to Bus 1, and set the output to Stereo Out.
Next you are supposed to send everything you DONT want the audience to hear (click/recordings) to Bus 2, and set the output to 3-4.
Now this is where I get confused...
I have gone through on Logic Pro 9 and set all this up correctly (I think).
-First I set up an audio channel for everything I WANT the audience to hear (intro, bass drops, inbetween song samples, and outro).
I clicked 'send', and selected Bus 1 (On my logic mixer I made sure to select Stereo Out).
So at this point my Main Out (in the back of my Firestudio) is being sent to the front of house.
Next I created an audio channel for everything I DONT want the audience to hear (click/recordings) and clicked 'send' to Bus 2.
I selected Outputs 3-4.
From my Firestudio (in the back) outputs 3-4 are being routed to my personal mixer (Berhinger Xenyx 1202).
I plug my headphones into the 'phones' plug... and I hear all the tracks fine.
This is where the problem comes in.
*For some reason, all the tracks on Bus 2 keep playing through my Stereo Output!
*Although everything is set up to separate the tracks, every time I hit play both bus 1 and 2 are sent to my main output of my Firestudio!
I don't know if has something to do with the I/O Assignments (mine are set to default) or what... but I can't for the life of me get JUST the intros, bass drops, sampling, and outro to play through the FOH speakers. Instead it plays everything... even though the tracks I DONT want to be sent to the FOH are supposed to only go to Outputs 3-4.
Someone please take the time to read this post and help me out!

So I ended up going a different route to solve my problem, but thank you both kcstudio and seeren for providing useful information.
Here is what I ended up doing instead:
In Logic I created two audio tracks, one with my FOH mix (what essentially was my bus 1)
and another audio track with my personal headphone mix (bus 2).
Next I panned my FOH channel 100% Left, and my headphone channel 100% Right.
I bounced the file and saved it to my itunes, in my "Live Set" playlist.
From there I can simply download the playlist to my ipod, and connect to a stereo splitter cable.
Both L and R (Tip and Ring) outputs on the splitter cable go into my Berhinger mixer on seperate inputs (where I can EQ, and control volume).
On the physical mixer I pan my FOH mix 100% left, and my headphone mix 100% right.
Then I send it all through the main out of the mixer and to the house PA.
And everything works perfectly!
(The click track/recordings only play through my headphones, while the FOH mix can be heard by the audience)
*This makes for a faster setup on stage, and gives me control over the different levels*

Mousepad/touchpad problem control button activates

Hi,
Just bought a pavilion g6 and i have a problem with the touch pad. when moving the cursor around the screen the control button seems to suddenly activate.
for example the "find your cursor when pressing control" function kicks in and a circle highlights the location of the cursor on the screen
or even worse the webpage will zoom in and out as if I held the control button and swiped up or down with the touchpad page scroll option.
I am not using the mouse pad in any weird way. eg just using one (slender) finger. I cant find any reference to this being a known problem but i am checking here before leaving my laptop back.
is there meant to be some in built touchpad function that causes the control button to be able to be activated from the touchpad? If so can i disactivate it?

Problem : controls & indicators not updated when programatically open Front Panel

Hi,
I have a strange problem when I want to progamatically open the front panel of a sub-vi: for some sub-vis the controls and indicatores are correctly updated while for others they are not (ie the controls show outdated values).
I have created an example here that illustrate this. The 2 sub-vis are *exactly* the same, but only one shows updated controls when I open it (with the sub-vi previously closed of course).
How is that possible?
What do I have to do to have the controls updated to the last value of the *last call* when I open the sub-vi?

Well, I DID run your VI and everything worked just fine, however I no longer have LabVIEW 7.1 so maybe your observation no longer applies to newer versions. It could also be because they were just upgraded as Ben noted. I did not study it in detail.
And Yes, as Ben noted, invisible VIs don't get updated for performance reasons (and not to waste extra data copies for the controls and indicators). LabVIEW is typically smart enought to update when needed, e.g. if the subVI tries to print its panel, etc.
I guess you haven't been in this forum for too long, but since controls can easily be operated in edit mode is is absolutely important to mention at which step you run the VI. (try to operate your controls with the computer turned off and you will see that it is not that easy ). Also if you have been programming for any length of time, you should know that stupid mistakes happen all the time (at least to me and Ben ). It is much easier to weed out the stupid mistakes with a quick question&answer than to spend hours searching for a deep and complex solution.

Problem Controlling PXI-2503 Switch through the IVI-C Switch API

Hi,
I'm writing an application to control a PXI-2503 switch in 1-wire mode using the IVI-C Switch API in order to route signals to a PXI-4060 DMM.
According to the programming instructions, I should be able to create a path from the "ab0" channel to a channel like "ch10" by calling IviSwtch_Connect( "ab0", "com0" ) to connect "ab0" to "com0" and then calling IviSwtch( "com0", "ch10" ) to connect "com0" to "ch10". However, after the program makes those 2 functon calls, the DMM doesn't get the correct signal.
When I use the NI Switch Soft Front Panel application to connect "ab0" to "com0" and then connect "com0" to "ch10", then the DMM gets the correct signal. Does anyone know what the Soft Front Panel tool does differently?

Make sure that you have configured your 2503 to be in the 1-wire 48x1 topology...
Other relays that need to be closed for ch10 to make it to ab0
are "bc01" and "1-wire". Check out the hardware diagram for
the 2503 which can be found by going to

When you use the SFP or program with LabVIEW, you have the option to
initialize a switch with a certain topology. For the 2503 1-wire
48x1 mode, this automatically changes "bc01"," bc02", "bc03", and
"1-wire" to the correct positions. Check to make sure that the
same is done when using the IVI-C driver you are working with.

I don't know whether this is trivial or not but does anyone know how to control the sliders with the cursor keys? e.g. up-down cursor for up-down slider left-right for left-right slider.

Event problem, control does not working

I have "Tab Control" and there is both pages a Stop button.
If there is first selected page1 and i run vi and then i select page2
and i try push Stop2 button nothing happens.
Whats is the problem ?
page2 Stop2 button works if there is first selected page2.
page1 Stop1 button works OK.

OK, take a few steps back and look at your code from scratch!
You seem to be under the false impression that a tab control needs a case structure on the diagram. Don't micromanage your code! A tab structure is just an easy way to simplify the front panel. From the perspective of the code, you can assume that all controls of all tabs are always visible. (If execution should depend on tab position, place the case structure inside the event structure. )
See also my earlier comments here.
You should never place event structures inside cases (or even worse, multiple event structures in multiple cases of the same case structure). Having to add unecessary timeouts is just a kludge to hide a poor program design. More comments can be found at the end of my other post.
Don't add timeout events unless you really need to do something important at regular intervals. Most of my event structures don't use the timeout event at all.
Also, if a stop button should be accessible independent of tab position, it should probably NOT be on the tab structure, but next to it! Alternatively, you can "float" a single stop button on top of the tab structure as follows: Select the stop button, then, using only the arrow keys, move it to the desired location on top of the tab structure. While editing, the stop button will have a shadow to indicate that it is not part of the tabs. This shadow disappears while running.

Keyboard Problems, Control-Option-Command Keys Don't work

Hello and thanks.
Have a iMac 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Due with 2GB of RAM running 10.5.8 and suddenly the control-option-command keys are not working on my keyboard.
Working fine and then suddenly no keys on my last row worked, including space bar. Scoured message boards and tried all fixes. Substituted keyboard with wireless (known working) and usb (known working) with limited results.
Initially the last row of original keyboard didn't function at all and command keys seemed locked so couldn't type. Only did modifier key functions (open, close, find, et.c)
The two different keyboards, wireless and USB, typed but the control, option and command keys don't work. Space bar works and the command key no longer locked.
Things I have tried:
1. Checked Universal Access settings so no sticky keys, etc.
2. Check Speech settings, all correct.
3. Replaced user, universal access prefs from point of which keyboard worked, no change.
4. Cannot zap PRAM due to no working option or command keys.
5. Reset SMU. Caused fans to go high speed. Unplugged computer from wall. Waited 10 seconds, replugged, fan now normal.
6. Repaired permissions.
7. Tried to repair disk but operation failed in middle of scan. Won't mount from any bootable CD.
Currently the wireless keyboard works fine except I have no control-option-command key usage. Keyboard types fine and all other keys work fine.
Suggestions? I'm very frustrated.

Problem controlling a number of x sprites

I am developing a MIDlet maze game that is controlled by a servlet.
The servlet sends av maze to every MIDlet connected to it, an the players
can move around in the maze.
The MIDlet also recives info about the other players position in the maze.
I am trying to show this in the canvas so that one player can see where the
other players are.
I store the players x and y position and the sprite in a player object. The
player-objects are put in a vector. I have no problem setting a new postion
to a sprite, but i can't figure out how to remove the old sprite position.
Nothing works :(

Problems Controlling Line in - Audigy 4, Adobe Audition

Hello,
I just recently got Adobe Audition version 2.0. I have been running my mics through a Fender Passport PA head, then into my computer for a while, with my default soundcard and Acoustica Mixcraft.
Now, I have an Audigy 4 (with the little box thing) and am using Adobe Audition, and I can't control the line in volume. I have tried messing with all of the line levels with the Creative console, the default windows controls, and even a third-party volume control, none of which works.
Please, if anyone has any clue what's going on, I'd much appreciate some sort of solution. I'm trying to record drums, and they're LOUD.

Software based level controlling:
In Audition, use ASIO drivers.
When ASIO is used, you can control input/recording levels through Audition (if there is a control for this) and through Surround Mixer (or Windows Playback control panels) Line-In Source slider -> i.e. the "recording level" setting in surround mixer does not have effect when you're working in ASIO mode (neither has wave source slider).
Hmm.. can't you also use Mixcraft controls for this, if you have routed your mics through it?

I built a very simple example that uses two Java classes (Department and Employee) with a one-to-many relationship. The property "name" of class Employee maps to the primary key column of the EMPLOYEE table in the database. Now if I remove all employees from a department and then insert one employee who happens to have the same name as one of ex-employees, the things go wrong:

Another problem I encountered is that I have to use registerObject() on the new Employee (still if the value of "name" is identical to one of the employee's names that I am removing), because otherwise I am getting this:

You cannot have two different objects in the same unit of work with different primary keys.
You must either update the object instead of deleting and inserting it, or split the operation across two units of work.
The setShouldPerformDeletesFirst only applies to publicly deleted objects, not objects that are deleted through private owned relationships. If you did not mark the relationship as private-owned and deleted the objects through uow.deleteObject then the deletes would be processed first. However you should still try to avoid having two different objects with the same primary key in the same unit of work.

MIGO Posting problem controlling area
