Problem Converting Keynote Quicktime to WMV with Flip4Mac

HI All
I can see that perhaps one other person may have had this issue. I have a continuous presentation exported from Ketnote as a Quicktime Movie. This plays from end to end without a hitch.
I am using Flip4Mac to convert to WMV, something I have done on many occasions with other QT files without issue (not from Keynote)
The resulting file only exports to the first transition in the Keynote presentation.
I have made the quicktime continuous (so it does not stop at slide changes) I have tried un-checking the sprite track option.
Pretty much every combination but it still always only exports to the first transition.
Any clues ? What am I missing ?
Thanks for your help

Hi
yes it does however I have been messing around over the weekend and have got some of the way to solving this.
Sorry its a bit long and convoluted but here goes.
I extracted the video and audio tracks as suggested below and made a new flattened movie.
I then found a utility to remove all the chapter markers from Ecamm Network.
This removed every chapter (slide) marker.
I then re-saved and made a WMV from that file. It exported until the last transition and stopped !! ( I checked with the orig file)
So I then converted the end section to WMV and joined the 2 WMV files together in Quicktime Pro.
This then played happily from end to end.
BUT you cant then save that as a WMV ! Quicktime exports it again as a .mov
So I thought that .mov must work if I convert that to wmv but no, stops in the exact same place.
There is no sprite track no chapters but there must be some other metadata that is upsetting Flip4Mac
Anyway closer than I was.
Cant import to FCP or use DV as despite setting the frame rate to 25 in Keynote it actually exports at 22 so any 'video' frame rates make the animation very jerky as you would expect.
thanks for you help though everyone

  • How to covert wmv with Flip4Mac

Can someone help me with it. I want to play mwv files on my i-pod and I know that I need to convert it. I already upgrated flip4mac but I still don't know how to convert the file. I am new to the mac system and it's very confusing.

I though I could ask here since some people in this
    forum suggested Flip4Mac.
I think that your post was in an appropriate place and that you are owed an apology.
Having got an upgraded Flip4Mac, you should be able to convert your wmv files to an ipod format by first opening the wmv movie in Quicktime and then opening the File menu, select export and choose ipod as one of your options........However, I think that you must first buy the Quicktime pro key if you don't have it already..........
An alternative would be to use iSquint which is free and does exactly what you want. Also look out for VisualHub from the same people(person) which does cost a little but does lots of other things.
There are other alternatives. I am just relating what works for me

  • Creating wmv with flip4mac

    Hi,
I want to transform material filmed with Sony XDCam EX3 1920 x 1080 25fps 1080i50 35Mb/s VBR into wmv for using it with power point.
With flip4mac and compressor transforming is quite easy, but to get good quality quite complicated, I think.
I get files with quality much inferior than my original. Does anybody has got some ideas or advice?
What do I have to consider most? There is a good tutorial here:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/encoding_windows_flip4mac_gary.html
But it doesn't explain the bitrate I have to choose, or the size.
    Thanks a lot!
    Paula

I believe I actually have the correct answer to this. To convert my HD EX1 files to WMV I use Flip4Mac HD. I use the following settings:
    Two pass, variable bit rate
    Quality 90
    Bit rate 1500 kb/sec
size 960x540  (although you can use 640x360) I do this because most of my end users don't have a 1920x1080 screen.
Then "advanced" Interlace upper. Because I shoot interlaced.
I get really, really nice WMV's from this which all of my end users can use in Power Point.
I got these settings from someone else on one of these forums after many hours of trying myself.
I also agree that H.264 files look better but they don't work worth **** on a PC with Power point.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems converting PNG image to SVG with autotrace

    Hi,
I am trying to convert a large number of color PNG images of hieroglyphs (produced after much effort) to SVG format, using "autotrace -background-color ffffff -output-format svg".
It seems that where there are closed paths with background color inside, autotrace produces an SVG image with the background area in black instead of transparency. (You can see the images at http://5b4az.chronos.org.uk/pkg/hieroglyph/A001.png and http://5b4az.chronos.org.uk/pkg/hieroglyph/A001.svg although the svg image is not rendered by Firefox). You may also download the tarballs with all the hieroglyphs of the Gardiner set if you are interested.
After all the effort that went into these images, I am stuck with being unable to convert raster images to vector graphics. I did try autotrace before I put in all this effort, but I didn't notice the problem because apparently I tried it on images with no enclosed background color.....
    Any suggestions wellcome greatefully!

I know this is an old thread, but I did some new testing on some line art and want to post my results.
I started with a PNG, and converted it to PBM and PGM. I got much better quality doing this conversion with GIMP, as opposed to pngtopnm.
I traced both formats with autotrace and potrace, which I output to SVG.
Autotrace accepts PNG, so I did the trace with the original as well.
I got the highest quality with PGM and potrace.  It also was the smallest file size.
a close second was PBM with potrace, slightly larger.
third was autotrace and the PBM, larger still.
Using the PGM with autotrace was unacceptable, and the file size was HUGE!
So if black/white is OK: Convert PNG to PGM with GIMP, then potrace
both the best quality, and smallest size SVG.  This is assuming you started with anti-aliased black/white line-art, i guess the full greyscale PGM avoids the aliasing of PBM.
It seems autotrace is the way to go, if your forced to deal with multiple colors.
I suspect you will need to do many passes and really tweak those command options,
The PNG directly to autotrace was a complete disaster, but i suspect it would improve given enough time to configure command arguments.
However, even with those perfect options I would believe potrace yields a cleaner trace.

  • Quicktime 7.2 with Flip4Mac and Perian Plugins.

Any know bugs or the green light to use them .....

    Another green light.
    You may find this useful:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything:
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
    Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • Problems with Flip4Mac WMV and QuickTime 10.1

I installed Flip4Mac WMV and when I try to listen to some audio in some sites, it starts playing and after about 1 second it starts playing again - so, I have the same thing playing with a delay. I use Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 and QuickTime 10.1. What is happening and how to fix it? Is there any way to play videos and audio for Windows Media Player without using Flip4Mac WMV?

First use the System Preference for Flip4Mac to check to make sure your uptodate. If you are and there is still a problem you could report it on the Flip4Mac website.
Other than that, you should be able to play WMV files using VLC which is available free for the Mac from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

  • .wmv into FCP back to .wmv - best workflow with Flip4Mac?

Apologies if this has been asked before, can't find a specific answer to this.
My client has provided a .wmv (windows media video 9) source file that needs to be edited.
The client needs the final format to also be .wmv with the WMV9 codec.
I've downloaded and shelled out for Flip4Mac Studio, no problem playing the file in QT or FCP. Now, apart from being able to play, import and export to wmv, I assumed I would be able to also create a .wmv sequence in FCP, but not getting any wmv9 codec in my sequence settings.
Am I missing something? Or if it's not possible to create a wmv9 sequence, what's the best workflow?
Source file is 720x540 @ 25fps, bit rate 2303 kbps, audio is 44.1kHz
    Thanks.
(PS Belated Happy Thanksgiving to all my pals over there in the US)

Thanks Jerry - believe me I wouldn't be working with this version if I didn't have to. It's for presentation within Windows Media Player ultimately so it will probably be OK if I can maintain most of the original quality.< </div>
Coming into Quicktime is an issue simply because they're different universes, but you know that.
You know what I'd do? I'd find some yutz with a PC and pay him/her to edit it on some Microsoft product. Instant in, instant out.
Short of that, converting the .wmv to something simple that will work in FCP is not going to give you any appreciable compression hit if it started out so small. Compressing again for .wmv v9.0 isn't going to improve anything but it shouldn't diminish either.

  • Quicktime to WMV problems

I have a Quicktime file which my client needs in Windows Media Video format. It was generated in Keynote (iWork 9) and has some interactivity, i.e. points at which the user must click to continue. This all works fine in Quicktime but on conversion to WMV it loses resolution (which I have resolved to an acceptable level) however I cannot nail the interactivity issue. I have tried to convert the Quicktime files in a number of ways, e.g. Flip4Mac, Adobe Media Converter, several other off-the-self packages including Video2SWF. Any suggestions? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Export to WMP formats is only enabled via that third party software. To export without "watermarks" or more than 50% of the file requires you purchase an upgrade from that vendor.
That vendor has addressed the export error message by issuing an update of their product. Why you still get an error can only be answered by them.
    Sorry, Martha.
I never understood why PC users wish to continue with WMP formats after they've moved to the Mac OS. PC users can view QuickTime formats using the free software download. You don't have to send them WMP files.

  • Keynote won't convert to quicktime... freezes up half way through

Need help with converting keynote 6.1 presentation to QuickTime.  Half way through it is unresponsive for the keynote program.

Sorry I actually have version 10.9.1.
I was able to talk to a apple specialist their 2 possible answers were:  1. It is the way that I was saving the file... ie... "presentation 1-1-14".  The "-' (dashes) are considered a special character which complicates the ability for the program to convert correctly. 2.  My file content may have been "corrupt" so that could have been the cause of converting the file correctly.  This resolved my problem.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

  • Truncated movies when converting to WMV with QTPro

Any idea why any movie that I export to WMV from QT Pro or iMovie only exports a couple minutes of it and then ends?
No problem converting to .mov - movie converts full length.

Any idea why any movie that I export to WMV from QT Pro or iMovie only exports a couple minutes of it and then ends?
This usually indicates you are using the free Flip4Mac playback only codec (i.e., export demo only) and have not purchased the full export codec. QT cannot convert to/from WMV without the proper proprietary import/export codecs which must be purchased separately from the third-party vendor.

    Hi ,
There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

Problems converting PDF to MS Word document.  I successfully converted 4 files and now subsequent files generate a "conversion failure" error when attempting to convert the file.  I have a large manuscript and I separated each chapter to assist with the conversion; like I said, first 4 parts no problem, then conversion failure.  I attempted to convert the entire document and same result.  I specifically purchased the export to Word feature.  Please assist.  I initially had to export the Word Perfect document into PDF and attempting to go from PDF to MS Word.

    Hi sdr2014,
I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
    So, let's try this:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
