Problem converting psd to tiff

I am using PSE7 on a Windows Vista PC.
I have dozens of layered PSD files I want to convert to TIFF format.  Doing each file individually is not a problem but time-consuming.  When I try to use the Process Multiple Files feature, the files are converted but the layers are lost...all the TIFF files are flattened.  Reading somewhere that PSE will remember your settings if you do one single file first, then try the batch, I tried that, but to no avail.  I also saw a post somewhere about downloading a trial version of CS and using that for the conversion, but don't want to do that if I can avoid it.  Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Angie

As far as I know it’s not possible in PSE.
In creative suite you can run a script (File à Script à Export Layers to Files) but even then you would be exporting the layers to individual files rather than to a layered document.
You could possibly achieve what you want in CS5 by using the save as command and selecting tiff and then checking to preserve layers; followed by close file. You could then record an action for those steps and run an automation on a whole batch in a single folder. Good luck.

  • Process Multiple Files - Convert PSD to JPG

Having problems converting large (30MB) psd files to jpg (not jpeg2000). I tried using the Process Multiple Files feature and when I tried to convert a large number of psd files (20 or more) PSE3 stops at the first file with a second window, SAVE AS, asking for a different format and gives these choices: Photoshop, JPEG 2000, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop RAW, PNG, TIFF. All not what I want. Yet when I convert the same PSD files to tiff it goes without a hitch, ie no second Save As box and no stopping. What gives?
    Suggestions appreciated.

First, I'm using an iMac G5 with Mac OS 10.4.7 and PSE3. Actually my question is really about a Batch Flip. I scanned a lot of slides (close to a 1000) at the 'best' quality I could which was 16 bit color (or as Canon calls it, 48 bit) and 2400 bit dpi. But there was a problem in that the slides being 'emulsion side down' during scanning produced a mirror image. These images have to be 'Horizontal Flipped' to get back to a correct image. To do the flip I either had to do it one at a time with PSE3 or try a batch process. Trouble is the programs I tried for the batch process will not work on 16 bit files as I deduced from your reply. So, my thought was to convert them to jpg first then batch flip, hence my question here. Also jpgs would be more manageable for viewing, slide shows, editing and other software while I could store the original *.psd files on DVDs. So now I am left with doing a Batch Flip one at a time then storing the originals on DVDs, and as I have a Windows box connected, copy then over and use something like IrFanview to convert the originals to jpgs for slide shows etc. Another issue: are jpgs the way to go or is there a better format? Tiff?
    Suggestions appreciated.

Is there any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features?
In our Webcenter Portal app, we create the PDF document with the content of ADF pages and check it in UCM using RIDC api.
There will some batch job which will retrieve the documents from UCM and send them to client internal Document management system. The client / batch job will only process TIFF files. So we need a way to convert the PDF into TIFF. We are okie to have both PDF and TIFF stored in UCM.
When i have done research, i could only see components like PDFexport or TIFFConverter which only converts the other formats into PDF. But i am expecting a reverse conversion. Is it possible ? ThanksYa actually I got a tool that could [convert pdf | http://www.allbestapp.com/products/pdf-converter.html] to other formats, including jpg and tiff. that may fit your need.
You could take a shot through the link above.

  • How to batch convert psd to png with layers

how to batch convert psd to png with layers
i want to convert lots of PSD files into PNGs WHILE RETAINING
    LAYERS!
simply batching and choosing custom setting flattens the
    thing.
    how do i do that!??
and i KNOW it can be done somehow - because i have some old
png's i KNOW come from the same psd source. ironic, isn't it?
besides - feature wish for adobe developers:
    A) batch conversion should include 300dpi to 72dpi and vise
    versa.
    B) batch conversion should include PSD to PNG and vice versa
    - including layers and transparency.
    C) RGB to CMYK option when converting from 72 dpi to 300dpi.
    D) batch exporting should include PNG32 which it doesnt now -
but somehow DOES include the outdated and stupid gif-format.
    E) i'd like the Actions feature of photoshop - makes batching
    complicated procedures easly.
    F) I'd like support for the brushes of photoshop
    G) Better selecting tools for details like hair and fine
    edges.
Important notes is that i as webdesigner often need to make
certain aspects of my clients graphics into print material. Also
that i use fireworks for picture editing.
Praise for the developers of fireworks
    A) the compression facility of JPGs is AWESOME!
    B) PNG as fileformat is likewise awesome - i end up using it
for almost all i do these days. Transparency and good file sizes. I
have used fireworks cs3 to convert all psd and tiff and ai files to
    PNG.
    C) the vectors and styles and method of selecting and editing
things in fireworks is FAR SUPERIOR to flash and photoshop!

  • Need help converting PSD to EPS using Illustrator

    Hello everyone!
I'm trying to convert .psd files into an .eps using a batch process in Illustrator. I know you can save a .psd into an .eps in Photoshop, but it ends up flattening most of the image and I need all text to remain editable in Illustrator.
What happens is when I manually open a .psd I can choose to convert Photoshop layers to objects, leaving the text editable and allowing me to flatten transparencies without flattening the entire image and rendering it uneditable. I record the action and then run it as a batch, but it will automatically open the .psd with the layers flattened into a single image. I don't want it to be a single image because when it is printed out the lines and text come out jagged looking, as if there is no anti-alias applied to the image. If I print it out after doing to the process manually the text and lines come out smooth as it should with anti-alias applied to the image. Is there anyone who know how to run a batch where it will open the .psd with the layers converted to objects automatically? I tried opening a file while I was recording the action, but it would only apply the actions to that particular file and just open the rest without applying any of the actions. I know this process may seem a bit much, but this is for a special process we have implemented and this seems to be the only answer at the moment. Any help would be much appreciated!

Just a suggestion - I use this for 'problematic' clients who modify their text/images a lot and in a short space of time. It's cumbersome but it keeps everything editable and easy to keep track of. Personally I export to pdf. Does Opensource not support that format?
Dump your psd file into Illustrator as a background image. Place your type over the image as required, with effects as required. When done, delete the psd file and save the Ai file as is, with editable fonts - no need to outline them or convert effects. Save the psd file as a tiff and place it into a page in Indesign. Place the Ai text file on top of it and export the single Indesign page file as a pdf or eps. Then if someone asks for the text matter - or the image content - to be modified, either part can be very swiftly amended and re-exported out of Indesign, so that your pdf or eps still contains "live" fonts as opposed to vectors, (the advantage being that even the eps/pdf is editable at that point). Indesign recognises that a file has been updated, so you can update the master composite on the fly.
The nice thing about this is that you can assemble multiple composite artwork pages in Indesign and export the whole lot as individual eps files in one batch, or as part batches. And keep a master Indesign job file of the whole shooting match that can be collected into organised folders if you need to. I don't know how Indesign would export psd files to an eps format because I've never tried it. I prefer to flatten a copy to tiff, because then I know there is just one master file with no layers and no chance of a bit falling off somewhere, although there's no real reason why it should!
    All the best

  • Batch convert .psd to .jp2

I am having trouble converting .psd files to .jp2s. When I make the action, in the "save as" box I have to first pick the JPEG 2000 format, then manually change the extension from .jpf to .jp2. The problem is that when I set everything up, the files save with the extension .jpf, becuase that is the default extension for JPEG 2000, and my manual change is ignored in the replaying of the action.
Any thoughts on how I might rectify this situation? Thank you.

  • Why won't Final Cut Pro import layers in PSD or TIFF files?

I'm trying to import layers that were created as EPS files.  I converted them into PSD and TIFF files in Photoshop CS6.  FCP is rejecting the PSD files and flattening the the TIFFs.  Help!

Perfect.  I changed the mode to RGB and it worked.  I had already confirmed the layers were all rasterized.  Thank you for your help.

Why do I get white lines surrounding PSD or Tiff transparencies when exported as a PDF for print - Indesign Version 9.2?
I recently upgraded creative suite - now I am having issues with white lines surrounding any tiffs or PSDs when exporting for print.
I initially thought it was an acrobat viewer problem, but it seems to be effecting print. Please let me know if anyone knows the answer to this problem. thanks!

    Hi prates77,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble converting files. Are you receiving the conversion error regardless of the file that you try to convert? Does the error occur whether you use the web interface, or convert via Reader? And an odd question: how many files do you have stored in your Acrobat.com account? We have seen reports of this error when there are a large number of files stored in the root folder of your Acrobat.com account.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Problem converting Excel Charts

I am using Acrobat 9.3.4 (pro extended) and MS Office 2007 service pack 2.  I am having problems converting the charts in Excel.  The charts in Excel are vector, but when I print to the Acrobat driver or save in Acrobat, the graphs are converted to a low quality bitmap.  Any ideas how I can preserve the quality of the original graph?  Any idea how I can preserve the vector drawings?

I suspect the upgrade to Excel 2007 is at fault here, but I have not found any settings to get my old functionality back.  I posted the same question to an Excel board, and they referred me to a similar thread, which sounds like other people are having similar problems.
It looks like some older version of Excel was having trouble when people used "save as pdf" (Excel was resizing the graphic and moving it off the page.)  To eliminate the problem, they seem to have changed their graphics creation engine from vector to bitmap.
I have an older version of Excel (2003 sp3) at home, and the pie charts, for example, are clearly being created as vector drawings.  In Excel 2007, they appear to be bitmaps created at screen resolution, which in my case is a fuzzy mess because of the need to resize the drawings.  On the Excel board, there is a link to a "hotfix" but I don't know if it is the same issue.  I will post the link here if it works.
I tried beating my head against the keyboard, but it has not helped.

    Hi sdr2014,
I'm sorry to hear your conversion process has stalled. It sounds as though the problem isn't specific to one file, as you've been unable to convert anything since the first four chapters converted successfully.
    So, let's try this:
If you're converting via the ExportPDF website, please log out, clear the browser cache, and then log back in. If you're using Reader, please choose Help > Check for Updates to make sure that you have the most current version installed.
