Problem copying files from pc to itunes

i have trouble in copying my movie files from my pc to itunes.  i already drag the files to itunes and add file in the library but still I cannot find the files that i want to add in itunes.  need some help here. thanks

iTunes do not support all video formats so it is likely the files you are trying to add are unsupported.

you may need to convert your movies in order to be able to add them to iTunes.

These are the steps I followed:

-> Copy files from mac system to Windows system connected as per above steps
I am struggling to copy files. ANy help would really be appreciated.
    regards,

You mount the remote windows directory and copy files conveniently.
    mount -t cifs -o username=<win user>,password=<win pwd> //winserver/dir /winserver/dir
where <win user> : Remote Windows Login Id
    <win pwd>: Windows login pwd
//winserver/dir : Remote windows server and directory, you would like to access. You need to share it before mounting in MAC.
/winserver/dir : Local diectory. You need to create it before mounting.

  • Problems copying files from another user that originated from Time Machine

I bought my wife a new MacBook Pro to replace a 6 or 7 year old iMac, and in the course of setting it up tonight, we've run into a little snag.
She didn't need or want the vast majority of the stuff on the old drive. So I reinstalled the applications she wanted, and copied a few of her documents. MOST of what she wanted was the iTunes and iPhoto databases.
I attempted to copy these over via the time machine drive that used to be plugged into the iMac. I was told there are insufficient permissions to do so. No problem. I used Migration Assistant to copy from the external drive, and selected just the items that we wanted copied -- Music and Photos.
This worked great, except it copied over a new user account that matched the old one (she's using a different/married name now, so the user accounts didn't match up). In and of itself, I couldn't care less if it creates another user as I figured I could always go in, copy what I need from the restored user folder to the new user, and then delete the user account we don't need.
Unfortunately, that's where I've hit the final snaffu. All the files I need are in a user account for "Heather A" (restored from the Time Machine drive via Migration Assistant). I need to copy those files (Music, Photos in particular) to the user account "Heather T" (the new account we setup when we first booted up the new MBP). However, in Finder, there's a little red circle with a line through it over the icon for those folders within "Heather A", and attempting to even open them (much less copy anything), generates the error "The folder 'Music' can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."
How do I get around this and/or change the permissions?
I should note that both the "Heather A" and "Heather T" accounts are administrator accounts, so I'm at a loss as to why this is happening and how to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Dan

Sssuming there still in the transferred account, delete the files you copied over to the new account. Log into the old account, drop all those files and iTunes into her new accounts /Public/Drop Box/, log into the new account, and drag to where you want them. That should resolve the permissions issues.

  • Problems copying files from Buffalo Linkstation

I have just set up a new Lion server (Mac Mini) and I'm trying to copy a large folder hierarchy from a Buffalo Link Station to a share on the server.
I am logged into the Buffalo as an administrator user and I'm logged into the Lion server as a user who has full read and write permission to the share.
When I drag a folder from the Buffalo to the server share, I am told "One or more items can't be copied because you don't have permission to read them".  However, if I decend into the folder, select everything inside, and drag-drop that to the server's share it copies with no problem.
So where are the files that I have no permission to?
Is there some workaround for this, or do I really have to manually recereate the folder hierarchy on the server and then select-all drag-and-drop each folder's contents individually?

Perhaps your DVD is phyically altered.
You could also try to make an iso of the dvd and mount it from the hd.
    cat /dev/dvd > /some/mount/point/mydvd.iso

  • Problems copying files from an external hard drive to MacBook (error code 36)

A little while ago I backed up some files on my iMac to an external hard drive (formatted in the Mac format). These were primarily office documents (PDF files, Microsoft Office) and some photos. The documents had orignally been copied to my iMac from a PC (via USB), whilst the photos were imported directly to the iMac. Having brought a MacBook Pro recently, I've been attempting to copy the data over. Unfortunately, I keep getting error code 36 when it attempts to copy the files over. I've tried skipping some of the files it gets stuck on, but it keeps finding more. This also happens when I am just trying to copy over a folder of photos. Another unusual thing that I noticed is that when I try to copy a folder containing just under 300 files, when it attempts to copy it says it is trying to write 1,500+ files... which I don't quite understand.
I've run the disk utility tool to check the hard drive, but it says it's fine. Prior to copying the data over to the external hard drive in the first place, it had been freshly formatted. Unfortunately, since this was the backup disk, I kinda need to save these files!
Does anyone know of any solutions out there that could help?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Try the action again. Post any messages that appear in the Console window – the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Copying files from iMac to USB flash drives

I am having problems copying files from my iMac computer to USB flash drives. Sometimes, I get the error message: "Sorry the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error Code -50)."
How can I solve this problem?
This error message does not happen everytime but rather occasionally. Most of the files I am trying to copy to my USB flash drives are MS Word documents. I have tried using various brands of flash drive, but I still get this error message.
I use my USB flash drives for both Mac and Windows OS computers. For my 2GB Kingston Data Traveller flash drive, I checked its product datasheet on the Kingston website, and it says that it is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows OS, and that I can use it for cross-platform PC/Mac file transfers.
I also checked the Properties tab for this flash drive, and the File System for the drive is listed as "FAT."

    Hello Stedman:
I am pretty sure that these files were not open in MS Word when I tried to copy them.
I only get this error message/code for a handful of MS Word documents; the rest of my MS Word documents were copied successfully to my USB flash drive.

  • I cannot copy files from Pages or Adobe Reader to or from iTunes 11

How do I copy files from iTunes to my iPad or vice versa?

Yes, actually it does. Many people haven't yet figured out the new default interface in iTunes 11. To get to the iPad information so you can sync, click the iPad button in the header bar at the upper-right:
Or go to the View menu and select "Show Sidebar" and the interface will then look substantially like it did in earlier versions. If you don't see the menus, go to the small icon with the arrow at the extreme upper left and select "Show Menu Bar":

  • Cannot copy files from my work Mac to my PowerBook at home using ARD 3.1

I'm having an issue copying files from my work Mac to my PowerBook at home using ARD 3.1. Both machines are running OS 10.4.10 and have all of the available updates have been applied. When I connect to the Mac at work using ARD, I can see everything without any problems. However, when I attempt to copy a file onto my PowerBook desktop, I lose my connection to it and ARD tries to re-establish a connection and just keep looping. I'm stumped as to why this keeps happening. When I try the above from work using my PowerBook, there are no problems. Could this problem be related to my DSL Carrier (Verizon). Anyone have any ideas? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jeff thanks for that, the only problem is I cant update any of the system software at work
And I cant just copy the folders over and use my iPod as a hard drive to take them home and put them on my iTunes as the file names on some tracks are to long

  • Problems copying files to Flash Drive

I have been having problems copying files in the Finder to a flash drive when total storage exceeds 1gb or so. I recently obtained a 4gb flash drive and tried to copy about 1.5gb of files and the copy process just stops. I have had the same problem with an SD card in a card reader. If I put the SD card into a Sandisk mp3 player, which mounts as a drive, it will copy find. Also, if I take the card or flash drive to a PC, no problem.
The same issue happens when I try to copy a lot of files from iTunes to a solid state drive. iTunes will go through a "calculation" process and simply not do the copy. It is not because of capacity. I can repeat the process to a folder on my hard drive and it works find. I then copy the folder to my mp3 player.
I have been trying to do this for over a year now, hopeing that the next OS release would correct the problem, but it hasn't.
    Any ideas?

In another thread, I found a suggestion to use Disk Utility to check and fix the thumb drive. I did this and there was a minor directory proablem withe the drive. Lo and behold, it now works!

  • Copying files from an external HD extremely slow!

    Hi everybody.
    Thank’s to read this message.
    I’ve a MacBook Pro 13” (mid 2009) core2duo 2.26 Mhz whit 2GB ram and running Snow Leopard 10.6.2
The system runs perfect until i try to copy something from an external drive, takes a lot of time to copy it, for example a 600 mb file takes almost 15 minutes, thats ridiculous, the problem is only when the info comes from an external drive and not from the machine to an external drive.
I’ve tried whit tree different external HD and cables, whit four different USB flash memories, happened the same whit the SD slot and whit the CD drive, the size of the files or the content doesn’t matter is slow whit anything, I thought in the external drives format (FAT32 most of them) but happened the same whit the Time Machine disk whit HFS+ format, yesterday i copy a 4.5 GB folder whit videos and photos from time machine HD and took 4, yes 4 hours!!
Is a serious problem because while is copying a file uses all the machine resources and i can’t do anything else until finish writing the file. Also i think is not an Snow Leopard problem, cause i tried to install Windows XP whit Bootcamp and in the part when the system copy files from the CD to the HDD happened the same, just took extremely lot of time and i had cancel it.
I already reset the PRAM, repaired the hard disc and made a test whit the Hardware test tool in the Snow Leopard disc but can’t find something wrong.
Well, thats the problem, any idea or comment is appreciate, thanks a lot

Hi Eww, thanks a lot for your answer
Thats a good idea, but why happens the same when i'm out of Snow Leopard, i mean installing windows xp goes very slow.
I think should be something that controls the in and out information flow, but i don't know.
    Any other idea??

  • Finder error code -36: Copy file from macOS to external HD then copy it back to macOS: got error code -36

    Hi all,
I got this error whenever copy file from my external HD to my macbook (internal HD).
    For more detail:
last week, i copy a lot of my folder to external HD then i format my macbook to install new MacOSX Maverick.
But when i copy my file back to my laptop, i got a lot of file with message:
The Finder can't complete operator because some data in "some file name here" can't be read or written.
    (Error code -36)
I try to research a lot of time on google and apple support communities but i still can not solve this problem.
Someone, please help me and guide me how to solve this error because almost my file is my working data.
    Some infomation:
My last version of my macbook: MacOS 10.9.3
New version installed on my macbook: MacOS 10.9.3
I just only copy file from my macbook to external HD without doing anything.
Then i format my macbook to install new MacOS 10.9.3
When i copy my file back, this error is happened.
I try a lot of way like dot_clean, disk utility verified, repair, ....

The files may be from the old user account and not accessible from the new one. I found this article, though see that it may not be current.:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1402
Pondini's guide also covers this topic, but it may be hard to find the relevant bit of information.
    http://pondini.org/OSX/Transfer.html
In future, use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a complete backup of your system onto an external disk, before doing an erase/install.  Then you can use Transfer Assistant to bring your data and apps across.

i m writing the code i m using in my JSP page
    String fileToCopy = "C:/oracle/Apache/Apache/htdocs/FAO/FAO_MiddleFrame.jsp";
         String destinationDir = "\\\\af09\\c";
    File source = new File(fileToCopy);

    out.println("File copied successfully ....");
plz reply me as soon as possible.
    i will be very thankful
    Saad

Thats the way it works. Cause servlet contaner doesnot allow other machines in the network to access other than machine which it came from as in case of applets. What you can do is if the other machine is also based on webserver or app server .. you can upload the file as it gets to that page do the process.
I would like to hear more on my comments..
    Suggestions ??

  • I am unable to copy files from my macbook pro to my external hard disk.

I am unable to copy files from my macbook pro to my external hard disk. I tried to copy a movie 800mb in size to my EDD and  it shows the loading box and it says zero kb loaded out of 800mb and sometimes it loads a a few kb of the file, then after a while it ejects my hard disk and gives a message saying you should have ejected it properly. and it sometimes gives this message
"The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “....” can’t be read or written.
    (Error code -36)".
This happens with a range of files if they are more than a few mb in size, so I am pretty sure its not the file problem. It also occurs sometimes when i try to copy from my EDD to my mac.
I have tried everything. I formatted my EDD to MS-DOS (FAT) format because i need to use it with mac and windows. I tried resetting The SMC and the PRAM and NVRAM. I tried verify and disk repair on disk utility. But the same thing happens over again and it is really frustrating. The problem doesnt happen with my PC.
My EDD is an  Apollo 320GB hard drive from Imation.
Also are there any particular EDD brands that may not have this issue with MACs and can be used on mac and PC?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey guys,
So this is follow up from my debarkle with the EDD. I found out my problem with copying files from Mac to EDD and vice versa was a result of a not so good EDD ( i had an apollo hard drive from imation) that was not very compatible with macs. So i did my research and found out that the best hard drives were Western Digital and Seagate. I bought the newest western digital EDD 1TB and formated it to FAT32 and guess what...no problems so far. The only problem is that FAT32 format doesn't copy files larger than about 4 gigs so i couldnt copy a movie from my brothers computer onto my EDD that was 1080p. You could probably resolve that by partitioning a small part of your hard drive in ExFAT? but yeah, hopefully that helped guys.
