Problem copying mp3s to SD Card

Greetings, all...
I just purchased a new phone with a SD card (4GB) and copied some MP3 songs to it. The problem is that, after copying, the MP3s are in place but so are 4K files of the same name as the "real" MP3 files. I have to go into the phone and manually delete these small files.
What's the matter here?
Any help would be appreciated...
Clinton

They seem to be exactly the same - I've already deleted the 4k files, so I don't know that for certain. I did, however, find a utility that I think will help me: Blue Harvest at http://www.zeroonetwenty.com/blueharvest4/. They have a 30-day trial and, if it works, I'll buy it
I'm just dragging the files to the card - I, too, have just dragged files to a FAT disk and had no problems. But this even has a DS_store (or whatever it's called) on the card now as well!
I'll try Blue Harvest later in the day and let folks know if that works well.
Thanks,
Clinton

  • Galaxy s4 usb copy mp3 to SD Card

Since the last Android update, I have not been able to copy MP3 files from my PC to the SD card of my phone. It appears to copy, but the music player either won't play it or it plays garbled.
I have done this without the slightest problem in the past.
I DO have the latest USB driver installed on my PC
There is a LOT of space free (64 gig SD)
I can copy the same MP3 files to the phone's memory and they play fine
I'm a software developer (though not Android), meaning not a beginner at this kind of thing
This is clearly some screw up related to how they implemented the new restrictions on SD cards.  Anyone know how to work around it?

When you burn a CD with sound check, it is "built in" to the data written to the CD.  There is no way to transfer sound check properties with the native audio files, as sound check for playing such files is defined within your iTunes database.  Whatever player used to play the files from the SD card may have its own ability to level out sound, but that depends on what you're playing the files with.

  • How can I copy mp3 files from my Itunes library to an SD card for use in a non-apple phone?

How can I copy mp3 files from my Itunes library to an SD card for use in a non-apple phone?  I can physically copy the tunes as mp3's but the phone does not seem to be able to play all of them.   Do I need to copy an entire album or can I just pick & choose individual songs?   The phone is question is an LG running who knows what for an operating system.

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding.  Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD).  More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder).  Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button.  Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder.  After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version."  You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding.  Hopefully your phone will play that.

  • Docked problem when copying mp3 files to zen mi

    Hi there,
The os of my zen micro 5 G is crashed weeks ago. Now I am finally able to reload the os and update the firmware to the newest one.
When using creative source to copy mp3 files to zen micro, the lcd shows "docked" without only response. The customer support's answer is that there is most probly a problem of hardware.
Is it true? Or is there any suggestions to handle such docked problem? Actually, this problem existed on the first day of using it.
    I am restalling firmware now.
    Thanks!

    Lai,
I'm sorry but what dock problem are you referring to When accessing the player using MediaSource or Media Explorer, it's normal that the player shows a docking picture indicating that it's linking with the software.

  • Problems copying files to Flash Drive

I have been having problems copying files in the Finder to a flash drive when total storage exceeds 1gb or so. I recently obtained a 4gb flash drive and tried to copy about 1.5gb of files and the copy process just stops. I have had the same problem with an SD card in a card reader. If I put the SD card into a Sandisk mp3 player, which mounts as a drive, it will copy find. Also, if I take the card or flash drive to a PC, no problem.
The same issue happens when I try to copy a lot of files from iTunes to a solid state drive. iTunes will go through a "calculation" process and simply not do the copy. It is not because of capacity. I can repeat the process to a folder on my hard drive and it works find. I then copy the folder to my mp3 player.
I have been trying to do this for over a year now, hopeing that the next OS release would correct the problem, but it hasn't.
    Any ideas?

In another thread, I found a suggestion to use Disk Utility to check and fix the thumb drive. I did this and there was a minor directory proablem withe the drive. Lo and behold, it now works!

  • Copied MP3s are corrupt

I'm having a problem with MP3 files becoming corrupted when I copy them to an external device.  The MP3s reside on my 15" MBP retina's internal flash drive. When I copy them to a microSD card in the MBP's SD card slot using an SD to microSD card adapter the files become corrupt. I've tried different SD cards, different adapters, and I've even tried copying directly to an external device (MP3 player) using a USB cable. No matter what I do the files are corrupt.
Another clue could be that the first 10 or so files copy fine, and the rest are corrupt.
I'd like to try copying in safe mode, but in safe mode the MBP's SD card slot is unavailable.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on, and how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks!

Guys, I'm sorry for being AWL on this. I'm in Venezuela with limited internet access and limited time. I will get back with more answers soon.
Let me answer what I can now.
    Q. Were the MP3s created in iTunes? Or something else?
    A. Something else. I picked up these files from varous sources. I acquired them as MP3s
    Q. Has this process ever worked in the past, or is this something you've never tried before?
    A. It worked in the past. I'm not sure what changed.
    Q. And the MP3s play correctly on your Mac? And they are definitely MP3s, not m4a or aac...?
    A. They play fine on my Mac, and they are MP3s.
    Q. Does it matter which files are the first 10? Or not? (i.e. if you copy 10 files at a time, does that work?) How many files are you copying in one go?
    A. I'll need to research that and get back to you. I'll try to do that soon.

  • Copying files to SD card using USB card reader

Everytime I try to copy mp3 files to an SD card using a USB card reader my notebook hangs after just a few MB have been transferred. what should i do?

I myself have seen this happen right in front of me with a customer. Sometimes you have to me a little more selective with your card readers because not all of them work right out of the box.
I have found the Zio corporation readers to work splended with Mac OS X you can find them at Compusa I haven't really seen them any other place. But IMHO the issue is with your reader and not your memory.
As for the part number on the reader from compusa it is as follows that is if you are willing to give it a try....
Thunderbolt SD / MMC / MS Reader / Writer
    Manufacturer: Zio Corporation
    Mfg Part #: CM28100
    Product Number: 332371

hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
    Opened Lightroom.
    Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.

  • Cannot copy mp3 files to ipod after 4.3.1 OS update

I updated my iPod Touch to 4.3.1. Now when I open iTunes and try to copy mp3 files to my iPod the cursor turns into a circle with a line across it indicating I cannot copy the files. I manually sync as I select a few items from my PC library. This method has worked fine for years. Only failed after 4.3.1 update. Any ideas? I have rebooted both PC and iPod several times. No joy.

    Hey PlanB77,
Here's why I know the problem is Apple and NOT a problem with the aftermarket cables.
I have a total of (6) aftermarket cables. These cables support several Apple devices (iPod Touch, iPod Classic, iPod Nano, and iPad)in different locations. All (6) of these aftermarket cables have worked just fine for many months. After the update to 4.3.1 on my iPod Touch, NONE of these cables work on my iPod Touch, but the original Apple iPod cable works fine. These aftermarket cables still work fine on my other Apple products that have not been updated.
It is beyond comprehension that all (6) aftermarket cables have failed only on my iPod Touch while working fine on all my other Apple devices. Hence my comment, Apple has become truly pathetic. They now demand your dollars for overpriced cables. As this change to the OS is without a public announcement and after I have purchased cables from other vendors I stand by my conclusion.
Oh, and Apple wants to charge for support to tell you why their OS 4.3.1 upgrade broke your product. That adds insult to injury.

  • I copied mp3 files from a usb stick and they appear in music folder in finder and on iPhone/ipad with itunes match but not in iTunes?

I copied mp3 files from a usb stick and they appear in finder in my itunes media/music folder and on my iphone and ipad with itunes match but not in the itunes library?

Not working.  And it didn't used to be a problem.  iTunes can find the songs with Search Library, but doesn't show in any index (by song, artist or album).  Finding with Search Library offers to play or add to Up Next, but neither actually does anything.  Using File-Add to Library does nothing as well.  The only way I can get the new files to play is to find in Finder and Open with iTunes.
I suspect Apple is trying to drive me to buy from iTunes store.  Not gonna happen.  If they don't fix this, I'll find another player.
This worked fine before OSX 10.8.

  • Problem copying some files.  Error messages -36 and -50

I'm trying to backup my user folder onto an external LA Cie drive, and some of the files refuse to copy. The files, it seems, are mostly image or mov. files, and there appear to be dozens of "bad" ones, maybe hundreds. Several tens of thousand have no problem copying, but the bad files foul up the entire process.
The error messages I tend to get are as follows:
--"The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in [file name] could not be read or written (error code -36)"
--"The operation cannot be completed because the item [file name] is locked."
--I also get error code -50 sometimes.
Can anyone diagnose this problem and tell me how to fix it?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Todd--
First thing I think I'd try would be to see if a different cable helps. Sometimes a bad cable can cause problems with an external disk. Also, make sure nothing but the drive is connected to the PowerBook.
Second, look at the LaCie web site and see if there's a firmware update for your drive. I found a post on another board where the person had the -50 problem with a LaCie DVD drive that was cured by a firmware update.
    The -36 error means there's a disk I/O error:
<pre class="command">ioErr = -36, /*I/O error (bummers)*/</pre>Look in your console log at the time you try to copy one of these files. It might have a line something like this:
<pre class="command">Apr 07 09:00:00 username kernel[0]: disk0s3: I/O error.</pre>The username and disk0s3 parts will change a bit. You can figure out which disk is which using the Terminal application. Just copy and run this command:
<pre class="command">diskutil list</pre>That'll give you the names and BSD identifiers (which is the diskNsN name) for your drive's partition. That should tell you where the actual error is occuring.
As for the -50 error, that's an error in the parameter list. That can be caused by copying Mac files to FAT32 formatted partitions. If your LaCie drive is not formatted as Mac OS Extended, you might come up against this problem, too.

  • Can I copy mp3 files from my PC to my iPhone4?

I have an extensive music collection that I've already digitized from vinyl and reel to reel tape. I have a file structure on my pc and don't really want to use iTunes as a player or download app; and I'm don't want to have iTunes on my pc re-organize my music collection. Any advice on how to copy mp3 files to my iPhone 4 will be greatly appreciated.
    A new iPhone user
    Pete

The iTunes Music folder is on your PC. It's where iTunes will download things from the iTunes Store, and where it will by default store music you rip from CD or import. That's why you turn off that setting I gave above when you want your track files to be kept where they are.
Can I attach my iPhone via USB cable to my PC and simply choose which music files to copy, and if so is there already a file structure on my iPhone?
No. Tracks need to be listed in iTunes to be able to be synched to your iPhone.
    Regards.

I have no problems copying iMovie Events from one Mac to another, however, how can I copy iMovie Projects from one Mac to another?  Any help will be appreciated.  Thank you.

This should give you some good insight, I'd probably store them on an External HD on the old machine and then just drag and drop to the new machine.

  • CS4 problems copying and pasting masked items

The problem: Copying and pasting a placed image combined with other Illustrator art with multiple gausian blurs that have been masked/grouped. Placed image type does not matter. PDF, JPG, TIFF, etc placed in Illustrator CS4 (or 3). Some images are complex and others are not.
What happens: After copying and pasting, the masked (grouped) image breaks apart into separate components that are no longer masked/grouped. Happens with different files with different images on different computers. WIth or without text in document. Sometimes image pastes correctly but most times it does not.
Hardware/OS: 3 separate iMacs (20" and two 23") all with intel chips but different processing speeds. All running latest and most updated version of Leopard. All with 4 MB Ram and more than a 100 GB of free hard drive space.
Software: Illustrator CS4 (latest update) and CS3 on one of the 23" iMacs.
Solutions tried so far: Ran Onyx, repaired permissions, scripts, cleaned caches, zapped PRAM and on one iMac, ran Disk Warrior. Tried in Safe boot mode and tired with a new user account. Created new files with new images and tried old files. Tried opening files from the server and from the desktop. Threw out illustrator prefs and emptied trash.
Thought it may have to do with font conflicts but some files don't have fonts. Turned off font management programs (Suitcase on one iMac, Font Explorer Pro on others, all updated to latest version) and restarted so only system fonts loaded. No luck. Turned on fonts used in various documents, still no luck.
Thought it may have to do with memory issues after copying masked items. Sometimes the copied image would paste correctly and then the next time I pasted it, it would not. Before pasting a second time I would copy a small item (to clear the memory) and then paste it and then recopy the masked item and paste that. Still no luck.
Checked activity monitor but nothing looks to be a memory hog or out of place. Happens on all three iMacs and while the OS and Illustrator are common to all three, Fonts and font management tools are not. No weird plug-ins or third party extensions installed. Plus it happened in safe boot mode so all extraneous fonts and such should have been deactivated.
Curiously, if I drag copy the masked item using the option key, the masked item copies fine. I know this can be used as a work-around but I would like to resolve this as sometimes the designers need/want to use command-c/command-v.
Not sure what else to try. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you.

This might work, this might not. I have copy paste problems
on a regular basis and all that works for me is closing Captivate
down and then re open and continue. At worst, a reboot tends to
solve this glitch in my experience.
    Good Luck
