Problem: Cracked glass screen (iPhone 4)

Problem: Cracked glass screen
Condition: my iPhone is less than 2 mos old.
Question: Totally aware that the warranty excludes damages due to accidents etc. but its freakin a month and a half old! Could it be repaired free of charge or for a cheaper cost? or replaced?!

What does its age have to do with being broken?
What is the difference between breaking a new iphone vs and old one?  You broke it.
You can look for a third party repair facility (voids the warranty) to see if they are cheaper.
Apple will charge $199 in the U.S.

No  As with any warranty on any product, the warranty does not cover damage.
You would have to buy an out of warranty replacement:

  • Cracked glass screen for B540 replacement

Recently, after the warranty has expired on my Ideacentre B540 touchscreen, the screen had encountered a solid object tap an edge and cracking the screen.  I ordered the replacment glass from a vendor which had advertised the touchscreen plate would be an easy removal and install.  I have disassembled the all-in-one and realized the tuoch plate is glued onto the glass as well as the indicator lights.  Does anyone have a sugggestion to transfer the touchplate to the new glass without destroying it?  Or am at the point in time to try to order a face plate with touch digitizer already installed?

mines the same cracked screen but i tried to replace a mobile phone screen its the same (i broke the phone lol) if you must have the touch screen then it will be a whole replacement

  • I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. Apple wants me to pay for replacement unit (I agree), turn in my old phone (??) & wait for 6 days (no problem). What do I do to access emails, Internet & make/receive calls during these 6 days?

I dropped my iPhone 4 & cracked its screen. I went to the service center to get it repaired. SInce it is not under warranty, i was willing to pay for repair charges.
They told me that the screen can not be repaired or changed, but they can replace my damaged set with an equivalent set, on payment of RM 760, roughly, 25-30% cost of a new one. I agreed.
    They told me to:
    1/ pay upfront
2/ leave my old set with them
3/ and the replacement unit will be delivered in 4-6 days.
I agreed on 1& 3 but not to leave my damaged set with them because it is still working and I don't have another spare phone with me, to serve me the 4-6 day waiting period.
THe service center guy told me that if I want a replacement, I have to agree to all 3 conditions and that I should buy another phone for 6 days. I told him that I constantly need email & Internet access, as part of my work responsibilities, so I can not do with a simple phone. It obviously, doesn't make sense to buy an expensive smart phone, go thru the trouble of transferring my data & mails & contacts - just for a week.
Unfortunately, all these logics fell on deaf ears & the service centre guy kept insisting on ALL of the above conditions.
I came back so flustered & upset.
I thought customer service was about solving problems & not creating hurdles for customers.
    what should I do?
    ANy advice?

What would you do for transportation if you drove your car into a tree and had to wait while it was fixed? You'd need to rent, borrow or buy another car, no? The same applies to your phone. This is not Apple's problem; if the service center does not have replacements in stock for immediate swap-out, then it's up to you to provide a backup device or do without.
If you're in a country where Apple provides direct service for iPhones, you may be able to call Apple support and arrange for advance replacement, where they send you the replacement phone and then you send back the old one. Apple offers such service in several countries, though you have to pay an extra fee for the service. If not, then you'll just have to wait for the service center to get in the replacement, and will have to arrange an alternative to use during that time.
    Regars.

  • Purchased 2 iphone 5's.  Both have cracked the screen in the first week.  Never had this problem with the previous versions iphones being so fragile.

I purchased 2 iphone 5's.  One for my husband and one for me.  Both have cracked the screen in the first week. I even have a case on mine. Never had this problem with the previous versions iphones being so fragile.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Tests by some of the web sites and magazines claim that the iPhone 5 is in fact more rugged than previous models. That doesn't obviate the possibility of an assembly defect that would make yours more susceptible to damage, but if you dropped or impacted them and they cracked, then your warranty will not apply and you'll have to pay for replacement, either the AppleCare+ "deductible", if you purchased AppleCare+ with your iPhone, or Apple's normal out-of-warranty replacement charge.
You can of course make an appointment at an Apple Store, explain the situation, and hope that there's something they can do for you. Don't count on it, though.
    Regards.

A few months back I Dropped my iPhone 4 and I cracked my screen and now i cant unlock my phone due to touch screen not working plus there are blurred lines across the screen and I can't see anything that it displays.
Now when I try too connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer at home an error message comes up saying that I have to unlock my iPhone 4 for it to communicate to my device.
But the problem is that I can't unlock my iPhone 4 because I'm unable to see the key pad and my touch screen no longer responds when I touch it.
I just want to reset my iPhone 4 back to its Factory Settings & start all over from the beginning.
How can I unlock my iPhone 4 with iTunes on my computer or any other option you suggest me trying.
    Thank you in advance,
    SiHero

If you have had a "local guy "repair your iphone you will not get any support from Apple for warranty OR post warranty
If Verizon return it to Apple it wil not be handled by Apple
If Verizon also use unauthorised repairers you may be lucky
(Apple do not sell parts to local guys or anyone else )

  • Uneven glass screen more apperent on white iPhones...

Ok i had 4 white iPhone 3GS for various problems but all of them had uneven glass screen to the chrome...each replacement i had this...my friends bought the 3GS to and all their black iPhones got even glass screen to the chrome...dont know if they manufacture white ones at a different factory...

This issue actually does bother many apple fans who are expecting perfect product design and manufactured product paying premium price for their product.
It's product quality control is below average comparing to established electronic device manufacture.
Inconsistency is very significant especially in Iphone line starting from the originals. Among all 3 of the replacement I had, none of them were identical. So as in apple portable's keyboard touch and feelings, It feels worst when your friend with a same machine has a better keyboard touch and feelings.
Many of the apple products utilizes white plastic, they look cool for the first 2 month, but then it gets so scratched up and dirty don't look great anymore. Apple needs further investigation if they want to keep using this material. Aluminum is a good choice because it maintains it's aesthetics for a long time.
Apple headphones, the cord twines so much I hate it. None of the sony headphone will have that issue because they've been making headphones for a long time. There is a difference in material.
Apple product design needs further development for it's durability and use.
Each and every product needs to function, look and feel the same for a long time, just like your ordinary housewares.
Beside mentioned product manufacturing quality control issue.
    I am happy.

  • Fixed iphone glass screen, resulted in white screen after assembling it back together?

i've had a cracked screen on my iphone 3Gs for a fairly long time now and i decided to replace it. It's been working perfectly with the cracked screen and after i had replaced the glass screen and assembling it back all together, i have a white screen on the front, doesn't seem to go away and i've searched online for all types of solutions such as holding down the home and power button for 10secs etc but none seem to work, i came to an conclusion thinking its hardware? can anyone help me please, would be much appreciated. thanks
note: i intend to take it to the apple store as my last option
    Kind Regards

"note: i intend to take it to the apple store as my last option"
That should have been the first thnig that you should have done.  If you had done so, Apple could have done an out-of-warranty exchange for you.  Now that you've tried to fix it, and failed, Apple won't extend the exchange to you.  I think that you might be able to sell your iPhone "as is" to a techno-tweek, or you can use it as a door stop.

  • Unexplained ENVY m6-1207TX digital (not glass) screen crack - is it a manufacture issue?

I've had my ENVY m6-1207TX for about a year with no problems until now. I had bought with the laptop a 2 year Extended Care Agreement (warranty) and I am wondering if it covers an unexplained 'digital crack' that has appeared on the screen. I say 'digital crack' because it is under the glass screen which is unbroken. I don't know how it was caused.
It first appeared 3/4 up the left side of the screen at its border and has now extended all the way across to the right side of the screen 1/4 of the way up. Except for some slight image distortion where the crack is and some "digital ink spillage" in the bottom right corner the screen otherwise works perfectly fine. How it got started I have no idea as I look after the laptop very carefully being my first one.
My question is therefore whether its covered by the warranty mentioned above, (being as it appears) a manufacturing issue. I asked one person in a JB hifi store and he said it was a common problem and was covered by the warranty but when i took it to the JB hifi store that I actually bought it from - he said it wasn't covered... waahhh???
    Anybody know the answers? THANKS!!!

  • Cracked glass iPhone 6

Three days ago I bought a new iPhone 6.
Wore it in the bag in the portfolio with a laptop. Do not drop, hit, do not sit on it.
Last night found a small crack in the lower left corner of the glass.
How is that even possible? to pay $ 1000 for the phone, so that the glass cracks and for some reason ?! No other injuries on him not.
This factory marriage? Or all of these phones ???

personally all of samsung's and apple's products break since i fix iPhones for a living I would know. after every repair I do i recommend getting a tempered glass screen protector so your screen is less likely to crack. If you have apple care make an appointment on the computer and they should be able to fix the screen with in 15 min at least i would hope since I can fix one in 10 but thats besides the point. make an appointment regardless of what you tell then without apple care you will be paying $109 if i remember correctly to get that fixed. and MAKE SURE TO GET A GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR PLEASE. it has saved my Phone more then once

  • Iphone 5 glass screen broken

i have applecare for iphone 5.  my glass screen cracked.  Am I able to take the phone into the store to have it replaced/fixed?

Do you have AppleCare or AppleCare+ (will depend on which country you bought your iPhone in - AppleCare+ is not available everywhere).
AppleCare does not cover accidental damage, so you would have to pay the out of warranty fee.
AppleCare+ includes two claims for accidental damage, for a fee ($49 per claim in the USA),

You can loo up your purchases in your purchase history ( in your account in itunes)  and unlike music, you can redownload apps.
