Problem creating a PDF from the "print view" of a web page

When creating a PDF from the "print view" of a web page, the features in the print dialog box overlap. When the PDF is created, the words are garbled. e.g. words apppear as jzhhhxxf or zxihcj.

Use a job settings that embeds the fonts. If you look at the PDF, the font properties probably do not look correct and don't include embedded fonts. Also, set the printer to Adobe PDF before you try to do a print, so that the web page can try to properly adjust to the printer.
Why not just try opening the web site directly in Acrobat?

Try this process on your Mac. These files will be regenerated by Mac OS X with default settings.
    1. Quit the Mac App Store
    2. Trash the following folders and files; (~ is your Home folder)
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.storeagent
    ~/Library/Cookies/com.apple.appstore.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.streagent.plist.lockfile
    Mac HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/networkinterfaces.plist
    3. Restart your Mac
    4. Open the Mac App Store
    5. Log into your MAS account

  • I have a problem creating a pdf from within Firefox using the print to function.

I have a problem creating a PDF from within Firefox. I get an error message stating that Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated. Acrobat Pro then opens. If it try to create the PDF again, the same problem. I have FF ver 3.6.10 and Acrobat Pro 8 (from Acrobat CS3).

This is an Apple user forum, no-one from Apple is here.

  • I am having problems interacting with Microsoft Office programs since the last update:cannot create a pdf through the 'print' menu in exel and both Word and Exel docs sent in Mac Mail end up being received as .dat files.

I am having problems interacting with Microsoft Office programs since the last update:cannot create a pdf through the 'print' menu in exel and both Word and Exel docs sent in Mac Mail end up being received as .dat files.
Both these situations have cropped up on my MacBook Pro since the last update.
    Thanks for your help.
    Cheers
    Bob

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

  • When creating a PDF from the scanner, it only scans one side despite the settings.

When creating a PDF from the scanner, it only scans one side. I am using a fi-7160 that supports scanning both sides at once. The Scanner software is configured to scan both sides, and so are the presets in Adobe Acrobat Pro. I've only gotten the setting to work with the Custom Scan setting. Has anyone else had this problem, and what is the solution?
Additionally, the software bundled with the scanner with automatically omit the back sides of a page if it is blank. I am scanning large files with occasional double sided pages. Is there a way to avoid having to manually delete blank pages when creating a new PDF from the scanner? It takes twice as long because I'm using the OCR stabilization.

    Hi anne,
Could you please let me know what Acrobat and OS version are you using.
Does this happen in case of any particular PDF or all PDF files?
Try repairing Acrobat and then again check.
    Hope to get your response.

  • Acrobat 7.0.5 for Windows -- Problem creating a PDF from a TIFF image

I have a user who is attempting to create a PDF from a TIFF image using the Adobe PDF print driver (Acrobat 7.0.5). His computer is a 3.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM. His operating system is WinXP Pro SP2. The TIFF file he is trying to convert is about 2000 pages long. Is this even possible given the hardware and resources I've described?

Sorry, I should have been more explicit...The TIFF image is a multi-page image and is stored in a database here at our office. The user has a proprietary (internally-coded) viewer that's used to open the image from the database, and there's no way to save the image locally. The user wants to be able to search within the image, so he converts it to a PDF. Ordinarily, this works very nicely, but this is his first time trying to do it with an image of more than 1000 pages length.

  • Creating a PDF from Word, endnote links jump to wrong page

I have a Word file with a large number of endnotes.  In Acrobat 9.5.5 the endnote links jumped to the correct page.  In Acrobat XI, which I just upgraded to, all endnotes jump to the wrong page.  Somehow when converting the Word to PDF the calculation of what page to jump to is calculated incorrectly.  Is this a known problem?  I see other discussions on problems with endnotes but they are for different problems.  How can I resolve this.  I don't want to have to revert to Acrobat 9, but it worked.

Well I tried that.  I set the printer driver to Adobe PDF.  I then selected all text and hit F9 to refresh all links and saved the file and then went to the Acrobat tab to create the PDF version.  Using the application and importing the file to create a PDF causes the same result.  I can now see a pattern of what is happening.  This has a large number of endnotes, 525.  There are probably 30+ endnotes links per page.  I noticed that all the endnotes links for the first page that has the links all point to the second page of endnotes in the endnote section (strange that it starts with the second page and not the first), then all the endnote links of the next page point to the third page of endnotes and it continues that way until the end.
Another way to describe this is that the first page of endnote links should point to endnote pages 1 through 4 but they all point to page 2.
I checked and all the links in the Work doc are linking correctly.
I wonder if version XI has been rewritten since version 9 and my case is too extreme for this version and it chokes.  I'm trying to rebuild part of the file from scratch and see if the problem goes away since there is a lot of history to this file and it started at least at Word 2007.  I'm using Word 2013 now and have converted the format to the 2013 level.
I've sent in a bug report but have not heard anything and talked to customer service over chat but they don't seem to care enough to pass this to development even though it's easily reproducible.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Problems creating a PDF from a large Visio (2010) document

    Hello
Heres the setup, Windows 7, 64bit, Visio 2010 std, Adobe Acrobat X Standard, a 6.7mb .vsd file with a custom size of 6000 x 3000 mm that I want to convert to a pdf (not for printing)
Using File menu & save as in Visio converts to a pdf with great quality but cuts the page off, I've spent all day reading about the 200" issue and thats exactly where the cut off is.
Using right click on the .vsd file in explorer and convert to pdf opens the correct page size in the pdf but the drawing is screwed up, lines moved about, missing stuff etc.
    I dont know
    a) Why there is a difference between the 2 ways of creating the pdf
    b) how to have my cake and eat it! Good quality and right size page
Unfortunately I cannot use any third party apps, am I screwed?
Thank you everyone for looking and maybe even offering advice
    Cheers
    Stu

I looked at every setting as I had the same problem. This is what I found resolved the issue:
    1. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader and go to Edit/Preferences and change the pixel/inch ratio back to the standard.
    2. In Visio, go to Design tab, Size, and then More Page Sizes, and change the page size to Custom (your needed size.) (This opens Page Setup.)
    3. The printer paper size I could not change, but it didn't affect it.
The first option is what took me an hour to figure out. Hope this helps save people time.

  • Problem creating  ONE PDF from a large file

Every few months we need to create a three or four foot square document that our printer ouputs for us and laminates. But each time I end up jumping through hoops to get them the PDF file from the Visio source file. Finally get it to work in the end but with each new job I start all over again. Very frustrating...
The document size in Visio is set to 36x36 inches.
When printing, In the Adobe PDF Settings tab I have:
Default Settings I have created and saved a setting that has the page size set to 36x36.
Under Adobe PDF Page Size I have that set to 36 by 36
But after chewing on the file for a LONG time, I end up with a useless, 20 page file. What am I missing??
    Using:
    Visio 2010
    Acrobat X Pro 10.1.3
    Win 7/64

    Finally figured it out...
Even though the page size in Visio and all Acrobat settings was set to 36x36 inches, there's yet another option in Visio for Print Setup which was left set to standard letter size. As a result, that overode all the other settings and Acrobat was misinformed as to what size paper was being used for ouput. Once i changed that size as well to 36x36, the PDF came out as I wanted on one page.

  • Can I hide certain folders from the 'tree view' under Site Manager - Pages?

In the above image, is there a way to hide the circled folders from the listing?
This will help in reducing confusion and possible breakages.

    Hi AirborneAgency,
unfortunately there is not, educate the admins of this site not to touch these folders instead. That's what I do with my clients and it works just fine.

  • Creating a PDF from printer

Can anyone tell my how I can print/create a pdf from my printer - I used to be able to & now I can't it doesn't give me the option anymore

Sorry - I have a printer / scanner.  I used to be able to pull up a doc and then save it as a pdf with my printer options and now I think since I have a new printer it's not giving me the option.  I have Adobe Reader XI & Adobe Photoshop Elements II.  So I'm not sure why I'm having this probelm.  When I go to print it gives me options of Adobe PDF (copy 1) & copy 2, but all it's trying to do is print it and not create it and then it comes up as an error.  I'm sorry if this sounds confusing.  Thanks for your help Bill.

  • Unable to create a PDF from Word or from Clipboard coming from Word

Until a few days ago, I had no problem creating a PDF file from a Word document, or from a Word-generated clipboard item. Now this does not work anymore. I have entirely re-installed Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (successfully), but I still cannot create the PDF coming from the above sources. I now also (sometimes) have the same issue when a clipboard item comes from Excel. No problem with any other source data, i.e. PowerPoint, Web pages, etc.
    Here is the error:
And this is the next screen:
Answering "Yes" goes through a lengthy process (successfully), but still does not create my PDF. Both my Word and Excel programs are Microsoft 2007 Professional.
    Any suggestions?

No updates recently - except possibly whatever Microsoft updates automatically (security, etc.).
What is quite strange is this specific isolated instance:
If I am in a Word document, then highlight and select (Ctrl C) a range of text, then go to Acrobat 9 Pro and try to create a PDF from that clipboard text, I get the above error. However, if I select text from another program, such as a web page, then Acrobat does not complain when I try to create a PDF from the clipboard, and everything proceeds as expected.
So that makes one think that the issue is with Word; however, I sometimes (and "sometimes" is the operative word) get the error when taking text from Excel. But sometimes not.
Is it Microsoft? But that is strange, as all this worked a few days ago - specifically on Friday 9/3. I use this feature daily,
And, as I mentioned before, trying to create a PDF from an entire Word file also does not work (create from File).
