Problem deploying a web application to oc4j in Unix

Hi! I would like to ask for someone's help on a problem I encountered while accessing a web app deployed to oc4j in Unix. Before deploying the application in Unix, I tried it on a Windows2000 server and it worked fine. I copied the same files (classes, jsps, js, css) to the Unix server and modified the same xml files (data-sources, global-web-application, http-web-site, server). I could access index.jsp of my application but I get a HTTP 404 error on the other pages. Also, the css applied on index.jsp doesn't seem to reflect on the page. Could someone share some insights on this and if you have experienced the same problem, kindly post your suggestions/solutions.
Thanks a lot,
Mildred

  • Problem deploying a web application (war)

    Hello,
    I am having a problem deploying a web application in Tomcat.
    Here is what happens:
    -I copied the war file into the webapps directory.
    -I started Tomcat.
    -Tomcat automatically expanded the war file into a directory of the same name.
    The problem is that I get the following error: "The requested resource (/jadmin) is not available." when I try to access my web application
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Balteo.

    Hi,
    check the Tomcat log file <tomcat_dir>/logs/localhost_log.yyyy-mm-dd.txt and see if there is an error corresponding to the deployement of the (/jadmin) context.

  • Error accessing web application in OC4J-reg.

    Hi All,
    We deployed a web application into oc4j 903.
    We got the ERROR 1 when trying to access the application. Then we replaced the jaxb-rt-1.0-ea.jar & jaxp.jar in oc4j with the latest
    version from jwsdk1.1. Then we got the ERROR 2. This error is thrown because it is trying to use JXDocumentBuilderFactory from
    xmlparserv2.jar in oc4j instead of DocumentBuilderFactory in jaxp.jar. Then we tried to uncomment the tag "<web-app-class-loader
    search-local-classes-first="true" include-war-manifest-class-path="true" />" in orion-web.xml file. This ensures the use of jaxp.jar
    instead of xmlparserv2.jar but we got the ERROR 3. Now we don't know how to proceed further. Are we going in the right direction or
    are we missing anything?
    I will appreciate if any of you can provide any inputs.
    Please reply to me directly.

    Thanks Avi -- I did have a JDK versioning problem when first deploying in OC4J 9.0.4 -- but when I used JDK1.4.1 things worked. The problem appears to be that some classes are present in several different JAR files in the JDev libraries. Can anyone tell me about the dependencies out there between these JAR files? I can run the application in JDeveloper's OC4J container but cannot get it to deploy on 9.0.4 standalone.
    1) I had this error for a bit... the problem was caused by bc4jmt.jar and mc4jct.jar in my MT deployment.

    2) now I get this error -- looks like another version incompatibility. Can anyone shed light on this??

  • Issues with deploying BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J

    To everyone who's been having problems deploying BC4J/JSP applications to OC4J.
    We are aware that you're having problems deploying to OC4J, and we're working on them. OC4J was not available in time for us to add support for OC4J deployment to the JDeveloper 3.2.3 release. In addition there are some bugs in the first release of OC4J that have an impact on BC4J applications. This note describes the issues, and how we plan to address them.
    Issue 1: Classpath problems
    People have been getting "class not found" or "properties file not found" errors when they try to run their JSP. The answer is to make sure that all relevant archives and your JSP's .properties file are in the OC4J classpath - there's a note addressing the .properties file problem at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html. In general though, setting up the classpath can be tricky.
    Issue 2: JSP TAG NOT RELEASED ON END TAG. SAME TAG IS REUSED.
    This issue affects JSP pages whose behaviour relies on a tag instance being cleaned up as a result of release() being called.
    Your tag will not be released, and subsequent instances of the tag will reuse the first instance, rather than instantiating a new
    one.
    Issue 3:JSP SCRIPTABLE VARIABLE NULL
    A scriptable variable set in a tag cannot be accessed by a scriptlet. For example, this JSP code will throw a
    NullPointerException, because the scriptlet cannot access the value of resultRow:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>Workaround: Add a line of code at the beginning of the scriptlet to explicitly get the variable's value from the page context, for
    example:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    resultRow = (oracle.jbo.Row)pageContext.findAttribute("resultRow");
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>
    What we plan to do
    To address issue 1, we're currently testing a utility that installs the BC4J runtime libraries to OC4J, and provides a script to start OC4J with the correct classpath. We plan to post this by the end of this week, along with instructions for deploying a BC4J application to OC4J; deployment will be a lot simpler after running the utility.
    To address issues 2 and 3, we're working on a second utility that installs BC4J runtime and provides a fix to the JSP compiler. We plan to post this second utility by the end of next week.
    We do apologise for the problems you're having; please bear with us as we work on making it easier for you to deploy BC4J applications to OC4J.
    Thanks
    Blaise

    Hi, I have been trying desparately to deploy
    a simple example JDeveloper application for months and months.
    I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DEPLOYING ANYTHING.
    I don't know much about webservers and I am relying
    on the instructions from JDeveloper help and this website.
    I have already tried Apache, and WebLogic
    because there are instructions in the JDev help.
    No luck.
    Now I am trying to use OC4J on 9ias because there are instructions.
    I have read the instructions about how to install a BC4J
    app on OC4J about 25 times, but I can't get this thing to work.
    It works fine inside of JDeveloper.
    I create a BC4J project using the scott
    schema (just the dept and emp tables).
    Then I create an empty project for my JSP client.
    I choose JSP Application from the web
    objects and it connects to my BC4J project.
    As I say, when I run it in JDeveloper, there is no problem.
    In the instructions for installing BC4J
    in OC4J, it first says install JDev 3.2.3 and OC4J.
    This is done, and it tested fine.
    Then it says to install the deployment software.
    No problem.
    But when I deploy the app according to the instructions,
    it just hangs (like Rick Wang's program did).
    The main.jsp page loads and displays correctly,
    but when I click on the links to the DeptView.jsp
    or EmpView.jsp it just hangs.
    Here is the entire batch file I'm using
    to start OC4J: cd c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib

    pause
    The file al_BC4J.jar contains my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file, as well as my business components.
    All of the files referenced in my classpath are
    present in my c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib directory.
    I noticed that Raghu's classpath contains a file called jdev.jar
    So does the classpath of another fellow who says
    he was successful in deployment (his name is Jeffrey Jackson).
    I searched my JDev_3.2.3 for this file and found it nowhere.
    I also searched my OC4J home and my 9iAS for this file and
    found it nowhere.
    It is nowhere on my C:\.
    Is this file necessary?
    I will also try removing my application.properties file
    and my connections.properties file from my BC4J .jar file
    and put them in a separate .jar file at the root level (as Raghu did).
    However, Jeffery Jackson did not do this and says he was
    successfull in deployment.
    ***DO I NEED TO JAR UP ANY OF MY THE FILES FROM the JSP
    FOLDER IN JDevHome\myhtml???***
    ***or place them in the classpath?***
    I have read over all of the discussions at: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008232.html
    and http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html

  • Problems about deploying Oracle web application (Forms, Reports)

    I am going to deploy Oracle web applications (Forms and Reports) and plan to use the same server machine for both Application web server and Database server.
    1. How can I enable SSL (for data encryption) on Application web server for Oracle Forms ?
    2. Since both Application web server and Database server will use the same machine, do I still need Oracle Advanced Security for data transmission between Application web server and Database server if data encryption for transmission is required ?
    3. Can I user Oracle Forms to call Oracle Report on web as I did in Client/Server in the past ?
    Experts like you may have come across such problems. Would you please give me some opinions/ideas ?
    Regards,
    Richard

    1. check the paper about the Forms servlet architecture on otn forms section for SSL tips.
    3. Check the reports and forms integration paper on otn too.

  • How to create separate log files for each deployed web application in oc4j

    Hi All,
    I am using Windows2000, Oracle9iAS(OC4J). Say I have deployed 3 web applications onto this oc4j server. Then how to create 3 different log files so that I can see the log messages(System.out.println's) of each of these web appliations in a different log file.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

    Where do the messages printed via ServletContext.log() go? Is this configurable separately by web application? If so, you could at least replace your System.out.println() with sc.log() statements. For exceptions, you could trap them and log them since the log() method takes a throwable as well as a String.

  • Deploying a web application on Sun One app server 7

    Hi,
    I am not able to deploy a web application on sun one server using Sun java studio.
    I have created Jsp, Servlet, Session bean and entity bean.
    When I am creating a web_module in the directory where JSP are kept, it is giving me error "directory is already mounted.
    I have already created EJB modules for both the Session and entity bean.
    Can some one tell me the cause / solution of this problem.

    Hi Amol,
    Thank you very much for replying my question. The contents in my application.xml are:

    </module>
    </application>
    The contents in jaxrpc-ri-runtime.xml are:

    service='{urn:testws/wsdl}Testws'
    port='{urn:testws/wsdl}testwsRPCPort'
    urlpattern='/testws'
    </endpoint></endpoints>
    I tried to access and check the web service using:
    http://servername:port/testws/testws
    The first testws is contextroot named and the second testws is url pattern, which was exactly like what you mentioned but I got "404 Not Found" error.
    By the way, using the same ear to deploy to Windows Sun ONE App. Server 7 env. and then using the same url, I can access the web service. I am wondering if there is any special for deploying Web Service on Unix Sun ONE app. Server 7 env. or I missed something?
    I hope I can hear from you soon.
    Thank you again,
    Jackie

  • Deployment of Web application

    Using: WebLogic 6.1 SP3 (J2EE 1.3)
    I have an application which consists of an EJB JAR file and a WAR file which I used to deploy to JBoss and Tomcat respectively. They are working fine in that environment. I want to deploy this application to WebLogic 6.1 SP3.
    1. I generated another JAR file which can be deployed to WebLogic using ejbc (after adding weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file). It went fine and I moved this JAR to weblogic/config/examples/applications folder. I saw in the log file that the EJB's in that JAR file were successfully deployed.
    2. The problem happened when I moved the WAR file to weblogic/config/examples/applications folder. It tried to deploy the web application, but threw an error. These are the messages from the log.

  • I am facing a caching problem in the Web-Application that I've developed us

    Dear Friends,
    I am facing a caching problem in the Web-Application that I've developed using Java/JSP/Servlet.
    Problem Description: In this application when a hyperlink is clicked it is supposed to go the Handling Servlet and then servlet will fetch the data (using DAO layer) and will store in the session. After this the servlet will forward the request to the view JSP to present the data. The JSP access the object stored in the session and displays the data.
    However, when the link is clicked second time then the request is not received by our servlet and the cached(prev data) page is shown. If we refresh the page then request come to the servlet and we get correct data. But as you will also agree that we don't want the users to refresh the page again and again to get the updated data.
    We've included these lines in JSPs also but it does no good:
    <%
    response.setHeader("Expires", "0");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control" ,"no-cache, must-revalidate");
    response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-store");
    %>
    Request you to please give a solution for the same.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mohan

    However, when the link is clicked second time then the request is not received by our servlet Impossible mate.. can you show your code. You sure there are no javascript errors ?
    Why dont you just remove your object from the session after displaying the data from it and see if your page "automatically" hits the servlet when the link is clicked.
    cheers..

  • Packagin and Deploying Fusion Web Application

    Hi,
    I have created a Fusion web application which has Model and ViewController projects.
    I have created a deployment profiles as below for each project.
    1) Model - Which creates an "ADF Library Jar File"
    2) ViewController - Which creates a "War" file.
    I see that in the WAR file of ViewController contains the Model Projects - Entity Objects, ViewObjects and classes .
    So for deploying my Web Applications is WAR file of ViewController is enough or Should I create a EAR file which has both #1 and #2
    Thanks
    Ajay

    You sure can do in JDev. Select menu Application->'Application Properties', in the dialog select Deployment and the define a new EAR deployment profile. It's pretty easy to follow the instructions in the dialog and your are done.

    Hi
              You don't write DTD file. It's in weblogic installation.
              You must write a web.xml file and weblogic.xml file. See how to do this in
              the documento "Write Web Applications" of WebLogic 5.1

  • Deployment of Web Application when the managed Server is down .....

    Part of our installation, we want to deploy our web application on to a managed server.
    So, we use the JMX API calls to deploy the web application. But, at the time of this deployment the managed server is not brought up. So, our expectation was that when the managed server is brought up later, it will automatically STAGE the web application from Admin Server and then, deploy it in the managed server.
    But, what is happending is that the web application is not being deployed to the managed server (even though the web application is configured to be deployed in the specified managed server in the config.xml and it is set as the default application of the managed server application).
    We are using WebLogic 7.0 SP2 on RedHat Linux 7.2.
    Can anyone help to deploy web application on to a managed server when the managed server is down ?

  • Please help, how to guide the user to deploy a web application easily.

    hello,
    i have created an application which creates a new web application every time it is run. now i am writing the documentation of it and dont know which web server the client may have so i have to write / show to the user general steps that he should follow to deploy the web application after it has been created.
    i have written that the user should deploy the web app by making the following entry into the server.xml file (for tomcat)
    <Context path="/webappname" docBase="webapppath"></Context>
    it is not compulsary that the user should place the web application in the webapps directory of the server hence the above webapppath is used.
    now i want to indicate to him where and before / after which tag and under which host name etc the above line should be added in a manner that he is able to do it properly.
    please anyone can help me how to do it.

    i would like to know if there is any way without Java web start.
    it has to be set manually.
    i.e every user should make this entry in the server.xml so that the context is set.
