Problem detected with audio configuration

I have had itunes for a few years now and never had a problem i just recently updated to itunes 7 and it worked fine for about a day and since then i have not been able to open it i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, whe i try to open it i get the message "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" anyone know how to fix that?

"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
that is usually caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)
so let's first try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

What does that mean and how do i fix it? I had Itunes installed on my computer for ages but I had to have it restored because the firewall was playing up and since i have tried to reinstall itunes it has been saying that there is a problem with audio configuration---any ideas?

Some people have found the following works:
Completely uninstall Quicktime (NOT iTunes) using ALL the method in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
    Turn off antivirus/anti spyware
Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Change or Remove Programs
Select iTunes, then click on Change, then select Repair.
    Restart computer

  • Problem with audio configuration that affects audio/video playback

Recently, when I watch video on i tunes that sound and picture to not match up. Sound seems to be on-time but the picture is jerky and behind. I un-installed my video driver and reinstalled. Problem persisted. I started my computer in safe mode and it said there was a problem with the audio configuration that effected audio/video playback. I uninstalled i-tunes and re-installed and the problem still persisted. I'm at my wits end and it is driving me crazy. Windows Vista is automatically updated so that's not the problem. Please help.

  • ITunes cannot run because it has detected problem with audio configuration

Hello! I am currently in a russ with my iTunes. When I try to open it, it gives me the message:
iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration.
I'm not sure what this means. I haven't changed any settings on my computer since the last time iTunes ran. Is there anyone that can help me? Thank you!

I am also having the same problem. I have followed the procedures on the link page numerous times. It will work and I think I have fixed the problem and then it the problem starts again. I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes and quick time, reverted to an earlier version of itunes, etc all to no avail.

  • ITunes won't run - detected problem with audio configuration

I just installed iTunes 7 (I had iTunes 6) and now it won't work. An error message comes up that says "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration". iTunes worked just fine before I downloaded the new version. I tried doing a system restore to go back to version 6 but it wouldn't work. Please help! Thanks!

I searched on google and found my answer. I redownloaded quicktime and now it works.

  • Any way to disable the startup 'itunes has detected a problem with audio configuration'?

I have a machine that I run iTunes on for pretty much just serving to my AppleTV.  It works great, but the machine itself doesn't have a functioning audio system.  When iTunes starts, it always gives a dialog about detecting a problem with the audio configuration, which I then click away and everything's fine from there (only after the dialog is dismissed does the machine show up in AppleTV's listed of computers, so Home Sharing's not enabled until after the dialog is dismissed.
Is there anyway to prevent this dialog from happening?  Sort of like a checkbox for 'never tell me again' (although this particular dialog has no such checkbox).
If there's not one 'in the box' with iTunes, does anyone know of an alternative, something that could automatically dismiss said dialog?  (I'd guess something like AutoHotkey could, but I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel here if possible.
    Thanks!

Try going to the driver maneger then select search for new changes.

  • ITunes - Problems with Audio Configuration

I have been an iTunes user and Apple lover for years and have used these products for years. On my Toshiba laptop I have run iTunes for years without problems. HOWEVER, when I installed the latest iTunes, I get the following error: "iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration." What the BLEEP does this mean. Never before have I had an issue. Please advise. Thank you!

I was bitten by this one too, and this fix worked for me too.
This is about the 3rd time that a new version of iTunes has caused me problems - the 2nd time it's been a serious one. Not a great record.

What worked for me: Go to quicktime in the start menu, click to uninstall, select "repair" and let it do it's thing. Itunes should open up after that.
