Problem digitizing Footage off of a DV Camera

I am trying to digitize several clips off of a JVC DV camera with a Firewire cable. I batch digitized about 30 clips- but once I started to look at them after they were digitized, the clips were all sped up and choppy.
Under the Capture Settings, I chose Firewire NTSC for the Device Control and DV NTSC 48 khz for the Capture/Input setting.
I also tried to capture the clips one at a time instead of using the Batch Feature. But the same problem occurred. Anybody know of a solution?

Which JVC DV camera was it?

  • I had a fully charged fifth gen iPod touch.  Had nothing but trouble since updating to iOS8.  This morning the iPod was fully charged. Turned it off-on standby. Came back and it won't turn on. Tried all troubleshooting tricks. Anyone ideas?

This morning, I had my fully charged 5th gen iPod touch.  Have had lots of problems with it since updating to iOS8.  After briefly using it (successfully may I add), I switched it off to standby.  Came back only 10 minutes later, and it would not turn on. Tried all the obvious solutions, even switched out the lightening cord.  Apple support could not help, and their only solution is to call.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any other solutions other than obvious ones?  iTunes no longer even recognizes the iPod. Thank everyone!

Hey Wildfarmrose, Have you tries any of these: iOS: Not responding or does not turn on , if still no joy try DFU Recovery Mode

About the only other thing to try is let the battery drain, then attempt to charge for 30 minutes and attempt to turn on, otherwise try another cable, and/or different computer, if still no joy most likely dealing with a hardware issue, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and have your iPod evaluated. Don't forget to bring your cable also.  Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

How can I download video HDV minicassette footage from my sony video camera with no fire wire port?

    Hi,
Are you talking about your computer which has no firewire port ? If YES you can have one of two options:
    (a) Use FCI - Firewire card like this (preferred)
    You can buy from this:
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Ports-PCI-Express-PCI-E-IEEE-1394A-Firewire-Adapter-Cable-Card-/1507023...
    (b) You can also use USB-Firewaire adapter like this:

  • Tips for quick logging of digitalized footage

I just recently came over to final cut pro express from avid express, which used "locators" as a quick and convenient way to mark selected clips through a color coded dot system. Is there an equally quick way I can mark or code selected clips as I play back my digitalized footage in FCP Express? I need to quickly find a way to locate highlights in basketball games.

Thanks. Markers come close to Avid's Locators. Prob is that every time I open up Edit Marker window my extended clip freezes. I can no longer play the whole clip. What's up with that?
    ManorVail
Look into Markers. Unfortunately I'm pretty mac-less
at the mo' so I can't help you with keyboard commands
    or menus.
However, they should do the trick. I think even allow
comments and when marking a long clip you can easily
flick through it by going to the next marker,
    previous marker, etc.
You can also use extended markers to mark a length of
time, not just a point in time. These can be useful
for making sub-clips of the longer clip.
Sorry, I can't be of more help, but that should give
    you something to search for.
    A few general tips:
    1) The usual response with software forums is to RTM,
not the case here as a lot of the FCE manual is
incorrect and refers to features only found it it's
    big brother FCP
    2) therefore a good book would be a better
    alternative. Many recommendations here

  • Problem importing photos into photos.app from camera and iPhone

Connect Nikon D300 or iPhone 5S to Mac.
    Photos.app comes on.
    Select: import photos.
-73 photos coming from Nikon in Nikon's RAW format, NEF. 3 would not import because of "error in file format or other problem...."
    -Disconnect the camera.
    -Reconnect the camera.
    -Attempt to import remaining images.
-Last three images import but are now out of order relative to when they were shot.
About 20 photos and videos coming from iPhone. Similar problem but one that required repeating the above process several times to get them all imported.
Anyone else seeing this or have any idea why it would be a problem?
    Thanks

I believe I *should* have an option to add to the library (I've seen screenshots of it).
I'm not sure I understand your question, since I don't recall the screenshot you mention. However, I like to add photos to my library w/o creating a new folder, too.
Here's an example of how I do this with my Nikon photos:
    1. I already have some photos in my library. One folder is labeled Nikon, where I put my D80 photos (all of them, so far).
    2. When I hook my camera/memory card to the computer, I manually drag the images to that folder on my drive called "Nikon". This is the same folder I have imported into LR previously.
    3. Start LR, Select "Import", and migrate to and select that same folder ("Nikon", in my case).
    4. LR will tell you that it is not importing certain files, because they're already in the library. Click OK and LR will import the other, new files into the same "Nikon" folder (in my example).
Voila! ..no new folders in LR, just more photos.:)
Obviously, I've set LR's preferences to "Do nothing" when a memory card/camera is detected.
If I missed your point, sorry for the distraction.
    regards,
    jeff

I just heard a news report that there is a problem with malware in mac computers that came through a recent java update. Is this true? If so, what should be done about it?

As usual those "news" reports mangled the facts and got most of the story completely wrong. This particular attack did not arise through a Java update, it was distributed through a fraudulent Flash download popup window, or malicious websites that Safari is designed to block.
If you run Java on your Mac you may be vulnerable to this malware. If you do not run Java there is no risk. If you routinely keep your Mac up to date with Software Update the risk is greatly reduced.
Shut off the mass market junk that masquerades as "news" and read this to learn some real facts:

So it is cutting off the end at 59 minutes?  How large is the file that is being exported?  You may be running up against a file size limitation.

  • Correcting footage shot on auto-everything camera

    Hi,
I searched under several keywords but couldn't find any posts relating to my problems.
I have some colour video footage shot outdoors on a camera that has no manual controls whatsoever.
Can anyone recommend a filter or other FCP technique (or any other software) to help me bring up the under-exposed footage and bring down the over-exposed parts to make a more uniform final product? The fluctuations happen pretty rapidly and I have 1.5 hours of footage so something automatic would be really helpful. Also the colour shifts slightly throughout the footage (also sometimes rapidly), but not as badly as the exposure. Any sugestions for solutions to the colour issue?
    Thanks for your thoughts.
    Tim

Get out the manual and read up on the 3 way color correction filter. Pretty simple to use for basic exposure issues and color balance. Not really automatic but remember that automatic was what caused the problem in the first place.
One method of changing cc settings as the footage changes is to apply the filter to a clip and then cut the clip where the changes occur. Select each segment and correct for exposure and balance, then add cross dissolves between the segments.

  • How do I turn off my built in camera (green light)? It's always on.

How do I turn off my built in camera (green light)? It's always on.

That's my next move. Just read about other people having the same issue & turning it off (not re-starting) & waiting a few minutes before turning it back on has worked for some & not for others...
    Wish me luck.

  • Transcoding footage off cards.

I'm coming from a final cut pro 7 workflow environment.  In final cut I would normally go to file>log and transfer to transcode my footage off my card into video files.  Is there something similar where I can do this in premiere too?  I would rather not use raw footage from the card, I like using regular video files.

You keep using the term "regular video files" which is a nonsense term.
You also keep saying editing "raw .mts files off the card".  Thats a nonsense as well.
.mts files are editable video files so therefore are regular video files.
You do not edit them off the card.  They are ingested to local drives and the benefit of this is three-fold. ...
    1. The source files are backed up ( until you wipe the cards). I back up to an external drive as well so always have local files and backups before re-formatting cards.
2 File sizes and storage requirements are optimised
    3. Original generation instead of transcode (compression) and less risk of corruption during transcode.
Time saved is obvious and is not counted
Files with the same name/number  are no issue at all to deal with.  There is no reason to get confused. Each card has a Rushes Bin.
File management for editing....starts at the shoot.  eg Card 1 Day 1 or Card 1 is Project 1 etc...
One ingests to Rushes Folders on the Local Drive and to  Rushes Bins in Project Window with  the same name protocol..
One can use the Description ( and other columns ) while previewing and logging .

  • Need PID vi that outputs analog instead of digital (on/off)

I am trying to actively control an electron gun filament using a PID vi that I found in some of the examples but it is not proportional control like I need. Instead it is digital on/off. I want to proportionally control the filament voltage. Turning it on and off is not good. I think the vi that I have is simple PID or something like that. It would work fine if it would output an analog value instead of on/off.
    Perry

    Hello Perry,
Wanted to double check whether you are using PID.vi from the PID toolset of LabVIEW. The PID.vi outputs an analog value within the output range that you specify. There are also PID example in the NI example finder that you could take a look at.
    Hope this helps.
