Problem discovering CentOS

Hello
I have a problem with installing agent on a cent os sytem. Everything works fine and looks good untill the step "validating..." then the wizard stopps suddently with no errors and all I can do is click "Done" but the System doesnt
appear in the console...
I researched and found this debugview tool many admins used it to solve problems with installtions.
unfortunately i cant find any error in these debugview either...
 can someone help me?
     Hello,
I have the same problem. No errors detected, but wizard stops in "Validating..." step and the machine is not discovered. Any clue?
Andrés Guerrero

Andres,
Try turning logging on and see if it helps pinpoint the issue. Start with
EnableOpsmgrModuleLogging
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212862.aspx
Also make sure port 1270 is open on the CentOS system.
Regards,
-Steve

  • Problems discovering PIX 525

    Hi all,
In Common services I have problems discovering some pix firewalls, running 6.3(5) software. I have a SNMP tool that can discover the firewalls if i'm using SNMP version 1. I don't have the option to choose version 1 in Cisco Works (except if i do a SNMP walk from the device center, then it works. In device center I can choose version 1). In the discovery settings, I can only choose version 2c or 3.
Any good ideas besides opgrading the firewall softvare
    Thanks,
    Jesper

According to the bug notes, Common Services 3.3 should have support for SNMPv1 device discovery:
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsu82153
So if you can upgrade to LMS 3.2, that'd be one way to work around upgrading the PIX.

  • Problem with CentOS 4.4 and TimeZone

The oracle is already running in server.
But when i want start the em console give the following error.
Timezone mismatch: The agentTZRegion value (Europe/Madrid) in
    /oracle/10g/localhost.localdomain_TIJAVA/sysman/config/emd.properties
does not match the current environment TZ setting(Europe/Madrid).
The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
If Europe/Madrid is the correct timezone, set your timezone environment variable to Europe/Madrid and repeat the 'emctl start dbconsole' operation.
If Europe/Madrid is not the correct timezone, make sure that the timezone in your environment is correct, and then run the following command in your local Oracle Home: 'emctl resetTZ agent'
The output of this command will include detailed instructions to follow, to correct the mismatch.
im /etc/timezone is defined the correct timezone.

  • IPhone 3GS - Reception Problem Discovered

I was taking a stroll through my backyard and found an issue with reception.
I have isolated the cause to the lemon tree I have.
Is there some sort of weird signal attenuation that occurs due to the highly acidic nature of lemons?
I have posted a video of my problem here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsfXa5brR28

It seems Apple dropped the ball on this one in a major way (iPhone Reception and some other issues).
I just got my SMT5600 (smallest windows mobile device) replaced by iPhone 3GS (16 Gig version) about 3 days ago.
The problems so far I have encountered are as follows:
    1. Poor reception (the Blogsphere is full of iPhone owners complaining about this) I drive regularly in the 85/I-280/Lawrence ExpWay area (all within about a mile of Apple HQ I have had repeated dropped call with iPhone (repeatedly calling back) but never with other phones with the same provider (AT&T).
    2. Feature/Functionality (my opinion is Apple is good at 80/20, they do 80% of the needed features very well and the other 20%, they not only NOT do it, they make it impossible to work around)
    a. Eg.1 You cannot selectively delete recent calls
    b. Eg. 2 You cannot enter non-numeric characters in the phone number (Outlook let's you do it, and iPhone syncs but then it doesn't recognize the phone number as legitimate, for instance I have one of the pager number fields populated as "408-555-0000 joe's second mobile number" My Windows Mobile device got it right -i.e. when I had a call from that number it woudl display Joe's Pager, but with the same scenario, iPhone just displays the number)
In any case, I can live with lack of features, but I am thinking of returning my iPhone because of reception issue.

  • Problem discovering 9.2.0 physical standby database in 10GR1 OEM

We have a Dataguard test setup in our company which was done using 9.2.0 OEM consisting of two 9.2.0 databases(one primary and another physical standby).
I could get the 10GR1 agent discover the primary database properly, but couldnot discover the physical standby database? The 10GR1 agent on the remote host is running fine, but just not discovers the database that is in physical standby mode and running fine.
    Any suggestions???

Have you tried manually adding the standby?
Note that in grid, in the monitoring configuation screen, use the sys as sysdba account, dbsnmp doesn't have enough privileges.

  • Problem discovering nodes...

I am trying to discover a node on another machine within my network so I can eventually set up Dataguard. My process is to successfully set one up with the machines in the same room, then across the street, then, ultimately, in another state.
I can set up the node manually, but then Dataguard won't install properly. When I try to discover the node, after deleting all manual effort, I get the message: "VD-4520: Targets with same name have already been discovered." However, the node doesn't show up when I try to set up Dataguard. What am I doing wrong? Thanx!

The name that is in the hosts file on the machine is not enough? What do you mean by fully qualified name. Sorry to be dense..

  • Sleep/wakeup problem discovered - Apple USB modem is the problem.

Ever since Leopard (every release), I've been having frequent problems with my iMac not being able to wake up from sleep mode. Would not respond to mouse or keyboard. I tracked this down to a problem going to sleep. The machine would appear to go to sleep, but something was still running inside the iMac. A fan?? Disconnecting the Apple USB Modem from the iMac USB port fixed the problem!!! This is an all Apple problem. Apple needs to address compatibility with their modem, which they still sell.

I would call AppleCare and let them know you are having this problem. It is possible that it simply will be fixed by replacing the modem. If replacing the modem does not solve the problem, then call AppleCare again, and ask them to file a bug report on your behalf and find out why Energy Saver doesn't work with the modem. Many third party USB devices create problems for all USB peripherals if Energy Saver is enabled. Make sure you have you have none connected. If you don't have any connected that strengthens your case with AppleCare. You can always use Screen Saver instead of Energy Saver until the issue is fixed.

  • Problems discovering Printer

I just purchased my first Mac. So far I love it. I have a home network with my Printer (HP LaserJet 3500) connected (via USB) to a Desktop running Vista. I have another Desktop running XP and a Laptop running Vista. All are connected to the Network and I can print from each. I was able to setup my Macbook and connect to the Internet without any problems. I use a Netgear Router WPN824. When I try to add my Network printer to my Macbook, it does not show up. I'm definitely a newbie when it comes to a Mac. Maybe what I'm asking can't be done since everything else I have all run Windows. I got my Mac today, so I'm not even sure about the operating version as I just got it up and running about an hour ago.

    I figured it out

Ok. Just confirming this is a vanilla linux install and hardware.
Network discover (Nmap) must be run as root user. And in EM that means you must configure privilege delegation and sudo/pbrun on the host running nmap. You mentioned you tried privilege delegation before so I assume you have this configured correctly and tested.
If you still have issue, then please open an SR as we will need the logs and more details of the host to troubleshoot.

  • CentOS-4.2-x86_64

I have an installation problem with CentOS-4.2-x86_64 on my Compaq computer. I get an error during installation which means I do get the local-disk driver bundled up with the this release of the OS for my Compaq PC. Here is the error message:
An error has occurred; no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.
BTW, I don't have this problem when I install Centos4.4 as the drive gets recognized and partitioning gets underway; but I must use Centos4.2 for firewire driver reasons, which Cenots4.4 does not have... so, it's a catch-22 problem...
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
    Vil

    Hi Jer:
I am not sure how to make a driver disk. Where would be my source for drivers, what would the driver be called, and how would I install the driver?
I have all four iso images that I burned into a CD and that's all I have (CentOS 4.2 64 bit).
I know for a fact that because my hardware is brand new and came with a serial hard drive (ATA), and, apparently, VenOS 4.2 supports/has drivers for IDE drives (older drive technology) alone. The question is where to get and incorporate driver for ATA drives
into 4.2 -- Centos 4.4 has the driver, and I must stick to 4.2.
    Thx,
    Vil
