Problem doing XSL using XT
Hi,
Being very disappointed with the Xalan performance, I decided to try XT with the application I'm currently working on.
Unfortunately, I'm getting a DomException:
org.apache.crimson.tree.DomEx: HIERARCHY_REQUEST_ERR: This node isn't allowed th
ere.
The code:
private boolean applyXSL2(String target, Document xslt) {
XmlDocument result = new XmlDocument();
try {
XSLTransformEngine te = new XSLTransformEngine();
Transform tr = te.createTransform(xslt);
tr.transform((Node)this.pdmExportDOM, result);
OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(target);
result.write(out);
out.close();
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Error transforming dom");
e.printStackTrace();
//System.exit(-1);
return false;
return true;
When I try to do the transformation using Xalan (using DomResult), it works fine (except extremely slow, and I mean EXTREMELY slow).
I don't know where to look, because I know the XSL is fine, the input DOM is fine and the error doesn't say anything anything else than the error above...
Does anyone have an idea?
Thanks in advance
XSLProcessor transformer = new XSLProcessorImpl();
transformer.setParser(new CommentDriver());
transformer.loadStylesheet(new InputSource(xsl)));
OutputMethodHandlerImpl outMHI = new OutputMethodHandlerImpl(transformer);
transformer.setOutputMethodHandler(outMHI);
outMHI.setDestination(new OutputStreamDestination(result));
transformer.parse(new InputSource(xml));

I purchased my Macbook (17") through a certified apple tecnition in August 2012, it was refurbished and the motherboard was completely replaced. I do a lot of photo editing, but I have been unable to do so because of the red vibrating lines that interrupt my screen. The issue disappears temporarily when I tap on the computer, and the problem does not occur when I use external display or try to screen capture the problem. I brought the computer back to the technition I purchased it from and he said that it was a problem with my fan, so I have two new fans but the issue is still occuring. He says he doesnt know whats wrong. Does anyone have any information on this issue?
Here is an image of the issue
http://www.flickr.com/photos/67839707@N08/8884847081/I recommend having your Mac serviced by someone competent. A force sufficient to "blow apart" the fans was clearly excessive and may have damaged the display cable, as well as any number of other problems.
Dust is properly cleaned with a vacuum, preferably one designed for computer service, and they are not cheap.
Compressed air should never be used. It just blows dust everywhere, often into places where it can no longer be removed. -
I purchased an iPhone 5S using my EDGE upgrade on September 5, but would like to exchange it for an iPhone 6 within the 14 day period. Other than having to pay the $35 restocking fee, will I have any problems doing so? Thanks
Good evening udflyers! You should not have any problem returning/exchanging your current within 14 days http://bit.ly/IeiJI of purchase. However, you may have to preorder the device you want as it is not currently available and preorder start on 9/12/14 at 12:01am, PST. Please process your return/exchange thru the same channel as your original purchase.

Hi, since installing mountain lion on my macbook, it wont download pdf files from internet sites, the same problem does not exist on my mac mini, i am using firefox on both macs, please help!
Back up all data.
Quit Safari. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then launch Safari and test.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again. -
I have been using Firefox for about two years. For about a month now I have been unable to view any Google advertisements that run on YouTube pages alongside and under videos. This is important for my business. I would like to stay with Firefox, but this is only a problem when I use Firefox and is not a problem with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome as I checked. I tried uninstalling Firefox and all plugs ins and add ons and then reinstalling it. This did not work. Firefox seems to be blocking the Google codes that enable the ads to run on the pages. I look forward to your help. Thank you.
CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back. So probably won't run on modern operating systems. If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

HT5429 How long after you report a problem does it take for the fix to be picked up in maps?
How long after you report a problem does it take for the fix to be picked up in maps? The street I live on is misspelled. It's shown as one word, but it should be two words. Maps cannot find the address when it is spelled correctly, so I have it purposely misspelled it as one word in my contacts, which helps for the most part, however it still tries to place my home on an entirely different street all together. Fortunately this new random street is at least close to where I live. When I used to spell my street correctly with two words, maps would try to send me to the next town over. So it kind of works, as long as I misspell my street, and ignore the fact that it is showing where I live to be a couple of streets down from where I actually live. I live in Connecticut - not in the most populated of areas, but not in the middle of nowhere either. Amazingly enough Google Maps will correctly find my address whether it's spelled with one words or two words. Google Maps also shows my apartment complex, which Apple Maps does not. I really wish Apple would just do a quick pass of the area to fix these issues. I’ve reported the problem several times, months ago. How long will it take for there to be a fix? I keep trying to use the Apple ecosystem, but Google is clearly the better solution for me.
Apple does not do the GIS data for maps. That comes from 3rd party vendors like Tom Tom. I have read it takes some time to update map data. The only thing you can do is report it.
Not to belittle your complaint, but on my end it is Apple that is clearly better. When looking at my house in Google, the satellite photo is more than 4 years old, and the Apple one is much newer. I can tell because of the condition of my home and the neighbor's. They had an above ground pool which was removed 4 years ago and it shows on the Google Map. I had remodeling and roof work done to my home that started 3 years ago and Apple's satellite view showed this work done, which took over a year to complete. I live in the middle of a block in a rural town. Both Apple and Google split the block into 100 parts and put my home close to the beginning of the block instead of where it actually sits. I've reported it to both Google and Apple and no one has changed. Just one of those things. But, keep your chin up, it will get corrected eventually. -
Pam.conf does not use ldap for password length check when changing passwd
I have already posted this in the directory server forum but since it is to do with pam not using ldap I thought there might be some pam experts who check this forum.

Whereas /etc/default/passwd on the ldap client says passwords must be 8 characters. This is seen with the pam_authtok_check: minimum length from /etc/default/passwd: 8
. It is clearly not using the policy from the directory server but checking locally. So I can login ok using the ldap server for authentication but when I try to change the password it does not use the policy from the server which says I only need a minimum lenght of 6 characters.
I have read that pam_ldap is only supported for directory server 5.2. Because I am running ds6 and with password compatability in ds6 mode maybe this is my problem. Does anyone know of any updated pam_ldap modules for solaris 9?

How does one update Flash? I currently cannot watch videos on You Tube, it says I need to upgrade, I have no problem doing this on a PC.
If you're not using chrome you can just go to adobe's website (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) and download the newest flash player. You run the .dmg and then open the application, which updates flash. With the latest version of flash there should be a preference pane within system preferences to allow you to change settings and check for updates.

Mail does not use correct outgoing server
Problem
Mail in Mavericks (and also IOS6 snf 7) does not use the outgoing smtp server associated with the account being used. This results in either a failure to send or mail being put into the wrong "Sent" folder.
Background
I have most of my non-icloud mail pulled down to a home server from which my laptops and ios devices access various accounts using imap. The local home server also provides smtp and relays all mail to my ISP. Recently I have been switching from an old home server (Mac Mini) to a new one (Raspberry pi running the debian Raspbian version with fetchmail, Dovecot and postfix setup).
While making the changeover I had access to both the old server and the new server enabled on my laptop. Naturally the majority of the settings (Name, email address etc) were the same although the name and address of the server to be used for both incoming and outgoing mail were different. This seemed tp work fine for incoming. However when I tested outgoing mail the copy that should appear in the "sentt" box went missing. This usually indicates some mistake in the setting of the sent mail folder on the accounts but this all checked out.
I eventually found the missing outgoing mail intended to go through the new server in the sent box on the old server. Further trials showed that no matter what I did the outgoing would always default to the old (and therefore first set up) outgoing server.
Deleting the old account and the old outgoing server of course should cure the problem and will eventually be the solution for me when I kill the old server. But i wanted to get to the bottom of the problem in case it reappeared in other contexts. Checking the "use only this server" box produced failure to send rather than the correct result.
Trialing various alterntaive settings showed that the problem occurs when there are two outgoing servers with the email address in the settings and the user name on the outgoing server name being the same. I had assumed that changing the description field would distinguish between the various settings; however this did not work. Changing the Name Field did work eg by putting (O) after my name.
It appears therefore that mail selects the outgoing server on the basis of email address (with the full name included) and user name (trrespective of the actual server or the Description that shows in the smtp server listing. In some ways this is logical but it produces problems in the context I have described and would also be a difficulty if you wanted to use an alternative server when in a different location.
I have trawled support and elsewhere for any thing similar. Lots of mail problems (don't get me started on the way icloud loses outgoing each time you edit the list!) but I have not found any posts on precisiely this point.
IOS devices seem to have similar problems, but a quick attempt at a similar solution does not work, and I cannot be bothered to test the options. I will simply clean them out and put in the new accounts.
Advice
Grateful for any comments or advice from people who have encountered similar problems and whether my diagnosis if correct. Have I missed any obvious corrections that would clear this up. I do not know whether this is a Mavericks issue or also appears in earlier OSX versions.
CPEPeter,
Where ever the Sent and Trash folders show in the Sidebar, highlight first one, and then the other, followed by clicking on Mailbox in the Menubar, and choosing Use This Mailbox For, and choose the function.
Keep us posted on your progress.

When I enable imatch on my iPhone 4s it takes approximately 30 minutes before other data fills 13.2gb of usable data on the phone. This problem does not occur when I manually sync music to my phone only when I access imatch. Is this a common bug, and if so; is there a fix?
yes it is. you can sign out of itunes account then sign back in. use http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311 to sign out.

Does anyone use a LaCie external hard drive with their Mac using imovie '09? I have some questions.
Are you actually having a problem with the new Lacie drive, or are you just asking is the Lacie drive somehow different from your old G-Drive?
From a connection standpoint, most Lacie desktop drives have both USB and FireWire connections, just like the G-Drives do. You would connect and use it the same as a G-Drive.
Regarding capturing to the external HD, if you are using a camcorder that has FireWire (iLink) connection, it is not advisable to have an external FireWire HD connected to your Mac at the same time as your camcorder; there are often communication conflicts between the camcorder and the hard drive if they are connected at the same time. The conflicts usually appear as either dropped frames or a complete freeze. This is more common with Canon miniDV camcorders but I have also seen this behavior with Sony miniDV camcorders. (The problem is the camcorder's FW implementation, not the hard drive.) The workaround is to capture to your Mac's internal HD and later copy the captured video to your external HD. -
Problem with sendRedirect using relative URL in WebLogic 5.1 with SP7 & 8
I patched to SP 7 (and also 8), and the request.sendRedirect() with relative
URL failed. The browser simply displayed "404 - Page not found".
This problem only happens in a cluster environment attached to a web server.
SP6 or earlier does not have such problem.
I noticed that the latest SP always formats the URL and returns it as a full
absolute URL to the browser. The problem is it uses the Weblogic Server host
URL where the request is processed (not the Web Server host URL) which is
not visible to the internet.
Is it possibly a bug in SP?

Like I said in the title we are getting the pop up bar asking users to install a flash plug in but there are not any flash objects on our site. I did an experiment and I found when I disable the shockwave plug-in on a machine that has it installed I get the pop-up and when I enable it on a machine that has it installed the pop-up goes away. I think I might have pin pointed the problem to a tracking script because when I remove the script the website does not ask for a plug-in. I contacted the people who made the script and they told me their script does not use flash in anyway. Does anyone have any idea why our useres are being asked to install the plug-in?
Here is the pop-up:Do you have any advertising on the site that could be using shockwave? If not the script you mention must somehow be using it somehow, you have even confirmed this removing it and there is no prompt.
What happens if you try it using another browser such as Firefox?

Display problems in IE, using Netlace Designs approach
Display problems in IE, using Netlace Designs approach
Could someone please look at
www.tudo.co.uk/testing/magnification/
I am trying to adjust some css code taken from Netlace
Design's website
for my purposes. The purpose is to enlarge an image on
'hover' and to
enlarge some text on 'hover'.
What I have done works all right in Mozilla/Seamonkey.
However, in IE,
the 'text enlargement' does not work at all
and when I am enlarging the image there is ***in IE*** a
large grey
surplus area at the bottom, which looks like a background
area which has
turned out to have too much height. I want to get rid of that
superfluous grey area.
How can I make sure it works in BOTH Mozilla and in IE?
Thanks for your help.
AdrianHi ijmari,
I checked out that page and don't see any Spry menubar in it.
I'm assuming you've reverted back or removed it.
If you still need/want help, please post the URL to the page
that uses the menubar and demonstates the problem.

Log Message:
Add a class that will register the required class aliases in the event the mxml compiler generation [RemoteClass(alias="")] code is not called because an application does not use the Flex UI framework.
Add a reference to this class in the RPCClasses file so it always gets loaded.
QE notes: Need a remoting and messaging regression test that doesn't use Flex UI.
Bugs: Watson bug 2638788
Modified Paths:
flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/rpc/src/RPCClasses.as
Added Paths:
flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/rpc/src/mx/utils/RpcClassAliasInitializer.asGreat exercise to document the problem like this. It got me thinking about how an app with modules would be different from an app that does not use modules. Solution: I moved the dummy reference of PersonPhotoView out to the main application file (as opposed to being inside the module) and it worked. I've probably been lucky not to have experienced this problem earlier, because for most other entities I have an instance attached to my model which is linked / compiled with the main application.

Power drops; system re-starts
All began with power cycling at boot-up; 3 or 4 times before it would "catch" and then everything ran just fine. I knew the chassis probably needed a good cleaning: done. Now, a day later, and several times a day, the power just drops out from under
