Problem downloading movie onto ipod

I do not want to download a movie onto my computer then sync to my ipod. I want to download it directly onto my iPod. Is this possible? My experience is exactly the same as the following that was posted in December:
"My new Ipod Touch will not finish downloading a movie I purchased. I keep getting the phrase "Download error. tap to retry" and it goes thru the same thing over and over again. I am at the point that i want to delete the file, but can't find it on the Ipod to delete it, it doesnt show up in movies. Help, there is 3 gigs of memory tied up in this. "
I have exchanged emails with someone at apple and have searched discussions, but don't see any help in bypassing the computer.

Yes, that, and I didn't want it taking up space on the desktop.
I gave up and downloaded it onto the computer. However, now that I'm trying to sync it onto the iPod, there is not sufficient memory. It appears that 3.4 gb is taken up by "other", I assume as a result of my trying to download the movie.
How do I get rid of this "other" that doesn't tie to anything that actually exists on the iPod??

  • Problems downloading movies since upgrading to mavericks

Ever since upgrading to mavericks when it was first released, I have had nothing but problems downloading movies in iTunes. What normally would take no more than 30 minutes to download a movie and iTunes extras has now turned into waiting more than 3 hours with no less than 4 error messages saying iTunes cannot download the movie and I have to relaunch iTunes or reboot my entire system. It is getting quite annoying and I can't seem to find a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I upgraded to Mavericks on two computers and have display problems too! I have CC on one Macbook Pro (2011) and CS6 on another (2012) and I'm now almost positive my display problems are triggered by InDesign. I don't have to be doing anything special, and I don't have to be working in InDesign at the time, but InDesign has to be open and I get things like this:
Once it turns magenta or green, that's when I have to boot the system. I can still work with the glitchy display before it turns colors and if I'm still able to quit InDesign while it's glitching, the display goes back to normal. Same on both computers and the 2011 one has a new logic board in it.
At first I thought it had something to do with connecting my hard drive or my external display, but the display issues happened with both computers with nothing hooked up. Those are ruled out now. I took my 2012 computer to Apple and they told me it was a software issue and all my hardware is ok. Obviously they didn't fix the software issue because it's still happening.
This is not normal and needs to be fixed soon!

  • ITunes 7.0.1(7):  Problems Downloading Movies from iTunes Store

Prior to installing the iTunes 7.0.1(7) upgrade, I had no problems downloading movies from the iTunes store. After I noticed that there appeared to be rate-limiting on the inital movie that I purchased, I simultaneously downloaded three other movies and watched one of the movies while they were downloading.
No problems with downloading multiple movies but severe problems with using iTunes 7.0.0 as a viewer. An inadvertent movement or click of the mouse resulted in the video portion of the movie disappearing. To solve the problem, I created symlinks in the QuickTime Player's ~/Movies directory to the downloaded movies. Using QuickTime as a viewer was a significant improvement over iTunes.
Upgraded to iTunes 7.0.1(7) when it was released. Today I discovered that the release has significant problems downloading movies.
After the initial download of the movie to /private/tmp, the iTunes download panel displays a message stating that it is processing the file. One would assume that it is inserting the chapter bookmarks and transferring it to the ~Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies directory.
Not so. Its downloading the movie a second time. The processing file message is displayed a second time followed by a pop-up window reprting that the file is corrupt with an error code of 10008. Looks like one of Window's infamous network error codes. Wonder what it's doing on a Mac?
Enough of my diatribe. Are others seeing this? Do you have a "work around" or solution to the problem?

I did run Disk Utility after reporting my problems here and to the iTunes Store. The "Check Permissions" scan found two iTunes with the incorrect permissions. As the permissions were correct prior to the upgrade, I presume the executable permission flags were turned on during the upgrade. Repaired the permission problems.
Also, I performed a reboot as was mentioned in a discussion of a slightly different problem. I was able to download one of the movies. The second failed about half-way through the download with a 9006 error.

  • What program do you recommend to download movies onto my macbook pro

what program do you recommend to download movies onto my macbook pro

    iTunes.
Not sure what you're asking. You don't require any software other than what your MacBook Pro already has. If you ever encounter a popup window indicating you need something else, it's a scam and you should ignore it.

  • I downloaded movies onto my iPad to watch when I was abroad, I synchronised with my laptop and now they are not on my iPad how can I get them back?

I downloaded movies onto my iPad to watch when I was abroad, I synchronised with my laptop and now they are not on my iPad how can I get them back?

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app.  Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows.  If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again.  Make sure you transfer purchases first.   Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

Hey Silverdemon, sounds like a short, most likely in the headphones. Try a different set of headphones with this iPod or try the headphones with a different device. If the problem stops with your iPod or it moves to another device, then replace the headphones. If within 1 year of date of purchase Apple will replace the headphones for  free if problem is a defect, not abuse. If the problem continues with a different set of headphones, check the port for damage and foreign debris. If you note debris, attempt to remove it, if damage noted contact Apple and set up an appointment to have it evaluated. if nothing appears wrong, try plugging / unplugging to jack about 12 times maybe corrosion on the contacts if so that should clean it. Next thing to try reset your iPod. After that try restore from backup. Last resort, restore to new. Just make sure you make a full backup to your computer before you restore so no data is lost. If nothing works, contact Apple and set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Problems Getting video onto iPod

    Hey everybody-
I have a feeling that my problem is a composite of many peoples' problems. Here's how everything breaks down: I have a Powerbook G4 running the latest version of OSX and a new iPod 60 Gig 5G (christmas present!)
-I read on the apple website that it is perfectly legal to rip your own DVD's for personal use.
-Therefore, I downloaded Handbrake and used it to rip the movie Freaky Friday which I own, to my desktop.
-The file showed up as an .mp4 on my desktop.
-I tried everything: importing it from iTunes, dragging and dropping it into iTunes library, dragging and dropping it directly onto the iPod icon in the iTunes source list.
-It showed up in the Video section of the iTunes source list, but when I tried to drag and drop it from there onto the iPod i got the same error message that everyone was getting, that it 'wasn't in the right format' with the link and everything.
-I followed the link, which basically instructed me to buy QuickTime Pro, which I did.
-In QuickTime Pro, I followed the instructions for 'movie to iPod' but the progress bar freezes up at 10%, every time.
-I tried changing the original .mp4 file to a .mov file, and it still froze during exporting.
How do I make it export into iTunes, then make it copy to my iPod without error? Pleeeeease help! I am willing to download anything and follow complicated instructions!
    Thank you SO MUCH!

Your Handbrake "rip" may not meet the requirements for iPod use. Anything from the wrong dimensions to too high of a data rate could cause it to "fail".
QuickTime Pro isn't "freezing" at 10% completion. You are too impatient for the conversion. It could take a day (slower machines even longer) to convert a DVD rip to iPod friendly specs.
Plenty of lawyers in D.C. (I lived there for 50 years) would conclude that you don't own the right to "convert" the DVD to iPod format because the conversion creates a new product not intended by the copyright holders.
I doubt the police on the Metro would enforce (copyright Police force?) would take notice once you do get the film onto your iPod.
Test the "Export to iPod" setting using a 5 minute "cut". Open the Handbrake rip and copy 5 minutes of the file using QT Pro. Paste this cut into a new player window and save.
Time the export (you may be disappointed) and then you'll know how long the entire file will take to export to iPod settings using H.264 video codec.

  • Can't Drag and Drop movies onto iPod

I purchased a movie from the iTunes Store, which I downloaded to my Mac. I tried drag and drop the movie onto my iPod Touch (4G), and while it showed the little 'plus' icon over my iPod, it didn't transfer the movie. I made sure I had enough room on the iPod, I tried quitting iTunes and trying again, but nothing has worked. Of course, I can download the entire movie again from the iTunes store, but that's a lengthy process. In the old days I could drag pretty much anything from the Mac to the iPod. What gives? Thanks for any help.

First of all, if you try Sync , you will get exactly the same message: *"the movie <name> has not been transferred to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."* The message means exactly what it says. You may believe that the iPod should play them, particularly as Quicktime does, but the fact remains - it won't, which is why iTunes will not transfer them.
I don't manually manage, I only use Sync and my iTunes is littered with .mov files that will not transfer to the iPod because I get that message. I wish I had cleaned up iTunes as I went along because now it's littered with stuff that doesn't work (except in iTunes or in Quicktime).
As for .mp4 files, I cannot find one (at the moment) in my iTunes that has not transferred to the iPod - do you mean .m4v? I definitely have some .m4v files which will transfer and others that don't. I assume it has something to do with the way the audio is encoded into the video.

  • Transfering movies onto iPod

I need some help getting a movie onto my iPod. I have the DVD and would like to put it onto my iPod but am having problems. Can someone walk me thru the procedure please. When I check whats on the iPod I can see a large file so I think its there but then I cant find it listed under "videos" or "movies" so I cannot access it to watch it.

Most people who post here asking about putting DVDs onto their iPod are talking about commercial DVDs. If you talking about home movies, then that's not a problem. (But I'm not sure about the steps to format them.) However, if you're asking how to transfer a movie from a commercial DVD (like Die Hard), we are not allowed to talk about that here because it involves breaking encrypting copyright protection on the DVD.
If you want to transfer home videos from a DVD you've made yourself, I suggest you repost and make it clear that's what you're talking about, otherwise, most folks here will think you're talking about commercial DVDs.
