Problem downloading podcast certain podcasts over wifi

I have a problem downloading 2 specific podcasts which i have never experienced before.  The two podcasts in question are "Janey Godley's podcast" and "Mike Harding's Folk Show".  Never had any problems downloading these podcasts in the past, but ive recently had problems with my broadband provider regarding my speeds.  This has now been sorted and every other podcast i subsribe to is downloading fine.
When i get to the two podcasts mentioned the download starts at around 80kb per second (opposed to my B/B speed of 3MB).  it then deteriorates till the speed drops to nothing and its says it will take over 2 hours to download. (both files are around 25MB-30MB).  I have tried unsubcribing, deleting and downloading form the source website but still the same problem.  i have also noticed that if i try to download previous episodes i'm getting the same problem also.
Tried downloading from podcast app on iphone 4s over wifi but again same problems.
I can dowload it from the podcast app over 3G with no problem on my phone.
Any ideas people, as the complete randomness of this has got me perplexed.
I await your response
David

1. Check that the Podcast feed is still active, can you find it in the iTunes Store?
2. Try downloading the episodes again, but don't try to download too many episodes at once, this can sometimes cause problems.
3. Did your connection drop out while you were downloading these episodes?

  • Downloading podcasts over internet connection

I am suddenly have trouble downloading podcasts over the internet to my I Touch. The internet connection is fine -- I am able to download my mail and check websites. But when I click on the get more episodes for one of my existing podcasts, the download will quick and send me back to the main screen. I can download podcasts from my computer connection. Everything is working fine except when I try to download podcasts over the internet. Any ideas on how to solve?

I'm having the same problem. Everything works fine on my PC but podcasts and apps will not download on my ipod touch. The screen just quits.
Any advice would be most welcome.

  • Downloading podcasts over 3G

Hi all. After updating to the latest Podcast app i can no longer download podcasts over 3G. This is a huge  problem for me as i dont have access to Wi-Fi! Any ideas solutions for this without jail breaking my iphone
    Thanks

I also would like to have a way to disable podcast auto downloading on 3G.
I have Cellular Downloading turned off in the Store.  However I set my weekly 2-hour music podcast (about 105 MB files) to auto-download, and suddenly my cell data usage says I have received nearly 100MB, and it's only been 10 days since my billing cycle started.  I rarely download 100MB of data in the entire month.
Looks to me like the podcast either started or finished downloading on wi-fi, but the bulk majority of it downloaded thru 3G when the device was asleep.  I really can't believe there's no setting specifically to restrict podcast auto downloading to wi-fi only.  And I wouldn't think it would have started downloading on wi-fi, because doesn't wi-fi stay active during an active download after pressing the sleep button on the phone?
I'm pretty sure the setting in the Store menu only applies to automatic downloading of purchases on other devices, as that's the heading of the screen where the Cell Downloading setting is located.
Really ***** as I was really looking forward to having automatic downloading so I don't have to always check for the new episode release.  If not automatic downloading, some kind of notificatoin would be nice.

  • Problems downloading podcasts.........

Just installed the latest version of iTunes and all the podcasts I subscribed to I can no longer download. I get the following error message
+"There was a problem downloading 'podcast'. An unknown error occurred(-39).+
+Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is is active and try again."+
Strange thing is though it only applies to the ones I subscribe to. Any other podcasts I can download like normal. I've even tried unsubscribing then subscribing again but this still doesn't work.
    Any ideas?

I too am having that problem in much the same configuration!
I managed to get my podcastings by continuasly asking the Itunes to download.
    Rughly about 20 times-
Dont anyone know what couses the problem!

  • HT1351 Having problems downloading Podcasts to Nano.  I had the Nano checked at the Genius Bar- OK.  Reinstalled iTunes.  Any suggestions?

Having problems downloading Podcasts to my Nano.  I re-installed iTunes but that didn't help.  I am not very computer literate.  Can anyone help?

Nevermind, I finally figured it out.  There was a different screen on iTunes.

  • "There was a problem downloading podcast. An unknown error occurred (-50)"

    Hello everyone,
When I try to download the latest episode of my podcast feed, I see an exclamation mark next to the episode. When I click on the exclamation mark for more information, I see the following error message:
"There was a problem downloading <podcast_episode>. An unknown error occurred (-50). Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again."
I was hoping that somebody might take a look at my feed and review the code for any potential problems. It can be found here:
    http://www.stereogol.com/audio/wimpy_podcast.php
    Important notes:
    1. This is not XML code. It is an XML generator created in PHP.
    2. This feed used to work fine in iTunes. I had many episodes already downloaded.
    3. I began noticing the problem after upgrading to iTunes version 7 and beyond.
    4. I know at least 3 other people that experienced the same problem with my feed after upgrading.
    5. Upgrading to newer service packs (7.0.2 for example) has not solved the problem.
    6. I ran my feed through an RSS validator. It spotted 2 errors: (1) the width of the podcast image and (2) the syntax of the <source> tag. I made corrections but they did not solve the problem. I changed them back after that.
Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.
    Pedro

Try fixing up the validation issues...

Not promising it will help, but it's worth a shot.

  • Why can't I play downloaded podcasts with WiFi and Cell Data turned off?

I'm on a limited data plan and want to ensure I'm not downloading or streaming podcasts when I'm not on WiFi.  It appears I have several podcasts downloaded (Blue Dot next to the title) but I'm not sure.... When I turn off WiFi and Cell Data, the podcasts grey out and are unable to play.  Why would I not be able to play a downloaded podcast while I'm off the network (both WiFi and Cell data)?

Update....  Apparently the blue dot just indicates whether or not you've listened to the particular podcast or not, regardless of it's download status.  After playing with the app more, it also appears that many podcasts are not downloading to the device as I thought.  When I turn on Airplane mode, many podcasts are not playable (greyed out) but some that I have already listened to are playable.  I'm assuming the podcasts that are playable when on airplane mode are the only ones that are actually downloaded to the device (this makes sense doesn't it?).  So now my question is, "why aren't these podcasts being downloaded after I press the download button?".   They seem to play OK in streaming mode, either from WiFi or Cell Network.  Any insights?
    Thanks.

  • Does the auto-download feature only work over wifi?

I want to turn this setting on in the podcast app but I don't want to risk that it will download a large video podcast over my 3G data connection. Can anyone confirm it only downloads over wifi?

I can confirm also that despite having Cellular Data turned off the podcast app continues to download episodes over 3G.  I had a nasty surprise today when I looked at my cellular usage!
The podcast app is without doubt the worst Apple iPhone app I've used to date.  No means of controlling autodownloads, no ability to hide episodes you don't want & desparately slow.  I am an avid Podcast listener and was very excited when I saw that app was available but have been so disappointed I've deleted it and returned to iTunes / Music app combo to control my Podcast subscriptions.  I hope this is not a taste iOS 6!  Come on Apple you can do so much better...

  • Problem downloading podcast

hi, i've been having some troubles downloading my favorite podcast since upgrading to itunes 7.
in itunes 6 i downloaded hundreds of episodes of English as a second language podcast without any problem.
a few days ago itunes started downloading an episode but for some unknown reason it stopped and now i can't resume it, everytime i try to download it again it says 'url error'. how come did it download half of the podcast then??
today itunes downloaded a new episode, it downloaded the entire episode but there's a '!' next to the episode title and it says that the file is either corrupted or incorrect format, so itunes can't add it or play it. but the file is a normal mp3!!
i think it's itunes fault, since the podcast has always worked smoothly.
    does anybody have a solution??
    thanx

    iPod video 30gb

  • There was a problem downloading podcast

If I get the error "The URL xxx could not be found on the server", how do I notify the iTunes store to remove the podcast? Doesn't the iTunes store automatically get notified when this happens?

    I guess nobody knows.

  • Problem downloading podcast feed to itunes

this website exists, but won't rss to itunes because the url could not be found on the server.
(www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info) what can i do to fix this?
i've been fighting with iweb to produce a podcast that can be found in the itunes store, (as roger w. knows very well) i seriously don't know why these mac products don't play nicely together.
a duplicate site exists, and DOES rss to itunes... but won't publish to the itunes store, because it is a forwarded url, i think. (www.undergroundfellowship.info/uftv)

That site gives the following link for the feed:
    itpc://www.undergroundfellowshiptelevision.info/undergroundfellowshiptelevision/ happiness/rss.xml
which does not work. The feed is actually at
    http://web.me.com/growingdeeper/uftv/happiness/rss.xml
but iTunes is working from an outdated feed at
    http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx
So you will need to access that feed and apply the method detailed here to change itunes to a feed at whatever address you want it to be at (and then make sure the web page reflects the correct feed - you could also give the iTunes URL).
If you can no longer access the feed at http://uftv.undergroundfellowship.info/rss2.aspx you will have to submit a new feed as if it were a new podcast (you may need to change the title to get it accepted). I would recommend submitting the actual feed URL in either case, not using a redirect.

  • Downloading podcasts with WiFi just hanging since installing 5.1.1

Anybody else having this problem?   I have restored everything...once using my backup and once starting as a new iPod and even had the iPod Touch replaced.  The WiFi is in perfect working condition.   Why did this start happening??
What to do to fix it?

Try a reset. Hold down the Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

  • Update podcasts over wifi without having to dock to a computer?

has it been announced and i missed it?

Ok, so I realized that if I am trying to sync manually, I just have to switch my which library I am using and I have to make sure I have selected the correct device in relation to which library I have open in order to make sure I don't accidentally sync my iphone library onto my ipad or my wife's iphone...but I am still not sure how this will work with "auto syncing" when I plug in my devices at the end of thd day...
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Problems sharing internet to macbook over wifi and bluetooth

I have an iPhone 5S with iOS 7.1.2 and I want to share its internet connection to a Macbook Pro (early 2011) with OS X Mavericks 10.9.4.
When I share using USB connection, it works fine, but with Wifi and Bluetooth I have some issues:
    - Bluetooth: I have never been able to make this work. I can't pair the iPhone with the Macbook. The iPhone appeared in the list of bluetooth devices in my mac, and I tried to pair it; in the iPhone a dialog asked me to confirm if I wanted to pair with the mac, and I selected Yes. After a few seconds it disconnected. If I try to pair from my iPhone to the mac, I get an error message "Device not compatible".
    - Wifi: this sometimes works but is very buggy. Sometimes the iPhone wifi network is not visible to my mac. Other times, when I select the wifi network in the mac, I get an error message that says it was not possible to connect. I have to turn off/on the wifi and internet sharing in the iPhone several times to make it work.
This is all very frustrating. Is there a way to fix this?

Same issue here with WiFi using latest iOS version on iPad Air and latest Macbook Pro. In my opinion, "Personal Hotspot" (or tethering) is totally broken on iOS.
WiFi tethering works once and then I need to enable/disable hotspot or enable/disable WiFi to make it work again. Bluetooth is so slow it's unusable. Even over USB I have to reset the iPad a couple times a day as the internet connection is displayed as online but just not working any more. Very disappointing. "it just works (not!)".
