Problem Dragging and Dropping whole Albums

My Albums are all listed on the right in iTunes. Some Albums don't seem to want to drag and drop. They display the circle with a line through it. Doesn't seem to be any logic to it as one album looks like the other. You can go to the files themselves and drag and drop them but I like to drag over a whole album at a time.

Yes The Albums appear top right in iTunes. I drag them to the image of my iPod 5G on the left just under the words Music Store. If the D & D works then a small arrow with a box with a plus symbol on it appears as I hover the pointer over the iPod image and then release it and the album transfers ok. Otherwise I get the no go symbol and nothing happens.

  • Drag and drop in album?

When I'm going through an event in order to pick photos for an album, I like to see the photos in full view (not thumbnails). But then I can't drag and drop from the full view to the album folder. And if I go down to drag and drop the corresponding photo in the thumbnail bar below, the darn thumbnail bar gets magnified, and I have to move my cursor once again to get the right photo. Is there a better way to do this??? Can I at least make that thumbnail bar stop magnifying itself?
    Julie

One way would be to view the photos in what ever mode you need in order make your selection and then either flag the photo (Command+period) or add a keyword to it via the Keyword pane (Command+k).
Then create a smart album whose criteria is Keyword is XXXXXX or Photo is Flagged. When you've completed your selection open the Smart album, select all of the photos and drag them to the Album area at the left to create a new, regular album. Then remove the flag or keyword from the photos to clear the smart album.
If you go the Flagged route and don't have any other flagged photos in the library you won't need a smart album because there's already one in the Recent area to the left titled Flagged. You can use it.

  • Drag and drop Picasa Album Into Premiere Elements 10

I tried to drag and drop videos from an album I made in Picasa into Premiere Elements.  No dice.  I tried to drag and drop files from windows explorer into Elements.  No dice.  I have 200 files from various folders all over my machine, assembled in a Picasa album, and I have no way of importing those files into Elements from what I can see.  Anyone know how I can do this?
I even tried to be clever, grabbing the Picasa XML file that contains the full paths of each file and then creating a space delimited list (with Quotes around each path) and pasting it into the OPEN FILE dialog.  But there seems to be a maximum string length.  No dice.
Your help would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
    Keith

Yes, the PREL (Project) file is XML, however it is structured for PrE to be able to read (and write) it. If PrE can read the Picasa XML (the structure makes sense to the program), then it just might work.
Unfortunately, I have never used Picasa, so have no idea of its Album files structures. I also cannot recall anyone mentioning working with it, and PrE, but maybe missed that/those thread(s).
Other than the general observation, offered above, I have no useful knowledge on what might, or might not work. However, as you experiment, please update this thread, as it might prove very helpful to others - and I get to learn something!!!!
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Cannot drag and drop to Albums when importing photos

When you import images to Photos, you cannot drag and drop the photos to any of your albums.  What was Apple thinking by eliminating this organization feature that has been part of iPhoto since 1.0?  For example, when you import photos from your SD card (from your DLSR camera), you cannot drag and drop the photos to an album (when you have view sidebar selected).  If you select all the images, Photos for OS X will not let you drag and drop them anywhere.  Clicking on the selected photos to drag them will only de-select the photo you are hovering over.  How stupid is that?  How can Apple call that photo management?  People organize photos in Albums, but Photos for OS X only wants you to dump them into the program without any organization.  In order to drop the photos into an album, you have to import the photos and then click on Last Import.  Then select all the photos from that location, and then you can drag and drop them into an album.  Totally stupid.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • I can not move or drag and drop my albums anymore.

For some reason, iPhoto will not let me manually rearrainge anymore.  When I try to drag an album, it only gives me the option to start a new folder.  Anyone else notice this in 11?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I'm having the very same problem, dragging and dropping new albums from iphoto to my iWeb created website, after having no trouble doing this for the last 2 years.
I have able to drag and drop just 2 weeks ago and now it doesn't work.
It's an album page, not a photo page, I am certain because there are already 5 albums posted on that page.
Very strange. I wonder if its some sort of update problem they need to fix. All my software is updated (although I dont have ilife '09) but I wonder if some sort of new bug has be created through the most recent updates.
If anyone has a solution I would be most grateful as I've run out of ideas and am unable to post new albums in any way shape or form, drop and drop or not..
    Thanks.

  • Drag and drop problem

    I have iTunes 10.01.22.
I have a folder on my computer, the folder contains some MP3's of an album. Now normally I can drag and drop the album folder into iTunes and whatever amount of songs are in that folder are then added and shown in iTunes library.
The album folder I am having a problem with has 2 MP3 tracks in it. For some reason or other, I cannot get one of the songs to add to the library (the other song shows up correctly in iTunes). I have tried dragging and dropping the song that won't add separately, but it still does not get added.
I've checked and its definitely an MP3.
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and if so did you manage to solve it.
I would appreciate any help and suggestions that you might be able to give me.
    Thanks in advance.

I still haven't found a solution (apart from using the workaround I mentioned earlier).
I tried today to drag and drop a mp3 into iTunes and I have the same problem with that particular mp3, strange though how it doesn't affect all mp3's I try to drag and drop.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Albums that work fine in my desktop itunes don't drag and drop to my iphone

All of the albums work fine in my itunes on my PC, but when I connect my iphone 4s via USB then try to drag and drop them to my iphone, they initially show up, but when I open them on my iphone the songs read in a muted gray and won't play.
Then, after I deleted those albums on my iphone (and additional songs that worked fine on my iphone to be sure that space usage was not an issue), I tried to drag and drop the albums again from my itunesPC to my iphone itunes (connected USB) - but the albums won't tranfer at all this time.
I called apple and an advisor asked my to connect my iphone to my PC again and try deleting a single song (which worked fine previously on my iphone), then the advisor asked me to drag and drop that song back to my iphone from my PC itunes - it would not transfer.
It seems oddly that once I delete an item from my itunes on my phone it is denied re-entry.
    Any solutions?

You probably need a Web Browser that support Flash. We can try the link or you.

  • Can't drag and drop into Folder

Greetings... i have been happily going along using iPhoto (6) on a fairly basic level making folders and dragging and dropping but suddenly its changed, i can now only drag and drop into albums.
I will create a folder but can't move anything into it.
This seemed to happen after iPhoto asked would i like things sorted to make it work better , i can't remember the exact wording,i clicked yes and at some point realised my folders had changed to albums into which i can drag and drop but use of folders is now denied.
I would like to know what is going on and why i can no longer do such a simple thing as move photos into a folder.
I have tried using different names for folders from the albums so there wouldn't be confusion but nothing has worked.

Thank you for this answer. I don't have an adequate explanation for why i couldn't remember how things operated on iPhoto. I had been using it successfully for some time but then didn't go into it for a few weeks and obviously had forgotten what i seemed to know earlier on. I created new folders and from there found it didn't work and was puzzled. Thought i had used folders before but i couldn't have or had overcome the problem by myself at that time.

  • I can't drag and drop movies from my hard drive onto my iPad.

I just recently upgraded from an iPad to an iPad 2. I still have the old iPad. I have no problem dragging and dropping movies and TV shows from my external hard drive onto my old iPad, but I can't seem to do it with the iPad 2. It syncs movies and TV shows from iTunes, but I don't want to have to load everything into iTunes just to get it onto my iPad. Again, no problems doing it with the old iPad. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

No I didn't - checked it, and now it works! I guess I forgot about setting that feature up when I got my first iPad. Thanks Allan!

  • Drag and drop music in iTunes not working

    Hi all,
I am having problems dragging and dropping music in iTunes from my media library to my iPhone music library. The only possible way to import music is to sync playlists (which I hate doing). Does anybody else have this problem?
    Thanks!

You need to make sure that your settings allow you to manually manage music. I believe it is a check box on the main settings page for your iPhone.

  • Cannot drag and drop icons,

I'm working on a Mac Power PC G4, OS X, version 10.2.8. About a week ago I started noticing a problem dragging and dropping items with the trackpad. I can click on a file to open it, but I cannot drag and drop files to move them. If I am in a Word document, I can no longer drag highlighted text around either, or drag songs to playlists in iTunes. However, if I open a window, I can drag the open window around, just not any of the files displayed in it. The same thing happens when I hook up a mouse. I've checked the Finder view options and have done a test to check that it is not a corrupted system preferences and have tried many of the things listed on discussions I have seen online. I'm hoping that I don't have to resort to reinstalling the operating system. Everything was working fine until about a week ago, and I am aware of no changes or damage to the computer that could have caused this problem. Any help?

I created a new account with administrative privelages, but the new account still does the same thing. I also tried trashing com.apple.systemuiserver.plist as suggested to me by someone else, and it had no effect.
    Thanks for you idea.

  • CS5 Bridge repeatedly crashing during drag and drop

I've recently purchased Photoshop CS5 and I'm getting used to a new workflow using raw (DNG) images with my new camera. Since raw images pretty much must be browsed within Bridge (would be nice if Windows Explorer could recognize DNG files some day), I'm learning the ins and outs of working in Bridge.
My problem has been repeated crashing of Bridge while sorting and moving around a bunch of images. I find it easier to view thumbnails in Bridge on one screen and use Windows Explorer on a second screen to create subfolders and as a place to drag-and-drop selected photos. I can usually move several groups of images to Windows Explorer before Bridge crashes but I'd say Bridge never runs for more than a minute or two between crashes. I've read a few other messages on this forum which have suggested holding down <ctrl> while starting Bridge to reset the preferences. That seems (though possibly coincidentally) to have changed the place where Bridge crashes from the StackHash module to the ntdll.dll module. The following is an example of the problem signature of one of these crashes in case this looks familiar or provides any sort of clue:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: Bridge.exe
    Application Version: 4.0.2.1
    Application Timestamp: 4bff9363
    Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll

Before anybody suggests I am running Windows7 Home Premium (x64) with an Intel i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. I have all the available updates applied to the CS5 software, my video driver, and Windows itself. The problem is persistent and repeatable and rebooting and closing down all other applications have no effect.
Am I the only CS5 user in the known universe having such issues or are there known problems dragging and dropping with Bridge?

This may be causing the problem.  Drag and drop requires more resources of the OS and video card.  Can you use "move or copy to" instead and see it that works?
Also, I can see no reason to use Windows Explorer to create subfolders and your method to drag and drop may cause other problems.  If you move files with an XMP file attached make sure it moves with it.
I think you are making it more difficult that you need to.  Also, Win. Exp does not display thumbs of Raw images as you mentioned.
If you want 2 browsers open click File/new window and now you have 2 copies of Bridge open.  Put one on each monitor.
If you enter ntdll.dll in a web search you will see it is somewhat of a gereric hard drive error.
    Hope this helps.

  • No more drag and drop?

I'm having problems dragging and dropping anything from my itunes library (podcasts and music specifically) onto my 1st gen ipod touch and my itunes playlists. Is anyone else having this problem? I can still add to itunes playlists by right clicking, but the drag and drop is so much easier. I did a full restore on my ipod and it still didn't fix the problem. Please help.

Yes, it has been reported here by several users.
I can still add to itunes playlists by right clicking, but the drag and drop is so much easier.
The right-click and Add To Playlist will have to do until a release comes out that corrects the bug.

  • IPhoto 09 picture drag and drop form library to an album results in incorrect picture dragged dropped

    Hi,
I think that my problem started when I installed ML...
When I import a picture in my library and then drag and drop the picture in an album (for example an empty one)... when I open the album, the only picture there is not the one I draged and dropped, but another one from my library... it's ths same when I repeat that for any other picture...
Any idea how to sort this

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards
    TD
