Problem dragging objects

Over the past couple of weeks, a problem has come up in
Captivate 2 where objects react very slowly when I try to move
them, resize text boxes, or select timelines. For example, if I try
to reposition a text box or pointer, I'll click and drag with my
mouse, but the opbject won't move for a second or two. That makes
it darn near impossible to accurately place the object. and when I
click ona time line to move or extend an objects timing, I have to
hold the mouse down for a second or two before it actually grabs
the line.
This problem only occurs in Captivate,

Hi Rickblack
I've seen this happen as well. Personally, I believe it to be
a resource issue as it relates to your PC and the Captivate
project. I notice it begins to occur once you build a project up
and it has some substance.
Not sure what to advise, other than perhaps reporting it back
to Adobe via official channels. You may do this by
clicking
here.
Cheers... Rick

  • Can you determine a dragged objects Class Name when it is dropped?

Is there a way to determine the class name for a dragged object.
I have set up two objects. One is a JList that acts as a data source for the second object which is a JTable. Both objects serve as both drag source and drop targets. I need to be able to react to the following events:
    1. Drag value from JList to JTable.
    2. Drag value from JTable to JTable (itself) to reposition order.
    3. Drag value from JTable to JList (deletes item from JTable).
So far, I have had no problem in getting #1 to work.
The problem is determining how to consistently interpret which event is happening for 2 and 3. Both the drop (DropTargetDropEvent event) and the dragDropEnd (DragSourceDropEvent event) are fired for either 2 or 3 above. If I could identify the source class for the dragsource and the target class for the droptarget, the coding would be easy. I haven't been able to find anything on this while reviewing the API documentation.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

No, there are not multiple policies - the host names for all aliases on that single webserver are together in a single host identifier. And I realize I can only have a single challenge redirect, I just want to use a variable to redirect to the host name that was accessed as opposed to a static name.

  • Adobe creative suite cs5: unable to open files in photoshop. unable to drag objects on illustrator..

Adobe creative suite cs5: unable to drag objects on illustrator or indesign. unable to open files in photoshop, brush doesnt work in photoshop.
In the past I uninstalled adobe creative suite cs5 from my laptop, used the adobe creative cloud cleanup tool, restarted and then reinstalled the programs and everything worked again for about a week. Now everything has gone back to the way it was again and this time the uninstalling and reinstalling isnt helping.
    Any ideas?
    Im pretty desperate!!
    Thanks
    Alisa

    Hi Alisa
I'm having exactly the same problem. Uninstalled CS4 and reinstalled the 30 day trial of the Creative Cloud and it's stil having the same glitches, not opening in photoshop and not being able to drag/move objects in Illustrator or inDesign.
Did you find a solution to this problem?
    Thanks

  • Losing the ability to drag objects after 30 minutes. What's going on?

    Hi,
I'm having a very strange problem. In InDesign, I'm losing the ability to drag objects around with the mouse after about 30 minutes of using the program. Everything else works fine, but I simply cannot perform this function. The box highlights, but simply will not drag. I can use the arrow keys to nudge the boxes over, I can resize and do other things with no issue except this. Additionally, other Adobe applications start to crash when I want to drag things, such as Illustrator.
If I log out and log back in, it's fine again for another half hour. I tried trashing the preferences, updating Creative Cloud, and nothing has worked.
This is seriously damaging my workflow and hindering my ability to complete my work. I have a hard deadline coming up, and I need this solved fast. I'm not on an SSD so logging out and back in takes 5-7 minutes for things to get up and running again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running OSX Mavericks on a 2013 iMac with the full Adobe CC suite installed.
A few things that may be clues:
I first noticed this problem with an out of date InDesign: everything worked fine, BUT when I started to drag an object, InDesign would hard crash, just close completely. After I updated Creative Cloud, now I simply cannot drag, but the program stays functional (other than this essential action).
When this problem is in effect, Illustrator hard crashes, only when I try to drag an object (the problem seems to be uniquely associated with dragging)
Nothing 'triggers' this issue, I'm simply working on a file and then I no longer can drag things around with the mouse. I log out, log back in, and everything is fine for a bit.
    -Neil

Ah! Unfortunately, I'm on a company computer and can't just try these things myself. If that's the issue, I can ask our admins and they'll do it, but I want to make sure I've exhausted anything that could be a small fix.
Is that a shot in the dark, or are you thinking there's a reason a clean install is the solution? Thanks for the help.

  • Applications crash immediately when I click and drag object. Every time in every Adobe program.

Application crashes when I click and drag object. Any time I am in an adobe program on my new computer (OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, 15 inch macbook pro 2.5gHz) say Illustrator for example, it will be fine until I inevitably need to click and drag something.
It immediately crashes, every single time. Same with Premiere, same with AE, same with photoshop. This is a brand new computer and I've tried all available versions CC2014, CC, and CS6. Anybody have some idea of what is happening? I've also tried using a bluetooth mouse to see if it's a problem with the touchpad. How could clicking and dragging cause every single application to crash 100% of the time.
    Thank you in advance!

Yosemite sometimes has problems, often related to "default" permissions needing to be changed

  • InDesign CC 2014 can no longer drag objects with mouse

I have been using InDesign for months with no problems but suddenly I am having mouse issues. I can use my mouse to resize objects and make selections but dragging objects in the document or in panels (for example, reordering spreads) no longer works. I am using a mac on the latest 2014 CC release of InDesign, and have tried all the usual tricks (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Cmd on startup to remove preferences, manually deleting preferences (both files), reloading software, rebooting machine, reinstalling InDesign) but the only thing that works is rebooting the machine.
However, within 20-30 minutes after a reboot, the problem returns out of nowhere. I don't use plugins with InDesign and haven't changed hardware or software recently so I have no idea what's causing this.
Does anyone have any info that might help me out? From googling around, it seems most people have solved their problems after a preferences dump, but mine keeps on coming back!

I've actually been discussing this problem in another thread but this one is dedicated to it.
This cropped up for me prior to the New Year and I've found no solution. I actually did what Steve Werner suggested this week and created a new OS X account. But the problem cropped up in the new account today.
I don't know if this is a common or not. I'm part of a large creative team and as far as I know, I'm the only user experiencing this. I've trashed preferences, uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign, restarted the computer, etc. Nothing works.

  • Cannot drag objects in indesgn cs3

    Hi Everyone,
Suddenly I am not able to drag objects in indesign file. I can move it using key arrows, I can resize it by draging side squares, but I cannot move it using a mouse.
    Any guesses?
I am on PS, Vista, CS3
    Thanks a lot in advance.

The strangest thing - I appear to be back up and running again as usual on my previous account.
BTW - yes, I had tried trashing the InDesign preferences previously but that didn't work.
But I have 2 Macs - new, which I am currently on, and old, which I use as a back up.
Last week I was using my old Mac as someone else was temporarily on my new one.
I therefore had InDesign running on that machine AND Google Chrome was also running.
As I mentioned previously, I do not have Google Chrome running on my new Mac.
I thought I would just try quitting Chrome on the old Mac to check that this wasn't the issue, even though it is on another Mac, and a few minutes later my new machine is back to normal!
Could the Chrome/InDesign issue on my other Mac have been causing the problem on my new Mac via the Creative Cloud account?
I have everything crossed that this was the issue and that it won't happen again but it seems very odd - or maybe I just don't enough about this all and it is obvious to you - apologies if this is the case and I should have tried it earlier.

  • Suddenly unable to drag objects

I installed Muse 2 days ago and I've had 3-4 instances where everything will work perfectly and suddenly I'm unable to drag objects. I can select and re-size them, so the objects aren't locked, but I can't drag and re-position anything (text, boxes, etc.). If I exit out of the program and re-open it, the problem is temporarily fixed (until it happens again after ~30 minutes of use).
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a bug or am I repeatedly & accidentally toggling some feature that I'm unaware of?

Yup that's a bug. From what we can tell, something goes wrong on one drag operation and after that, we can't start another drag. Quit and relaunch is the only alternative.
So far we don't have any reproducible cases to help us track this down, since it happens to you fairly regularly any information you can provide would be helpful: Mac or Windows?
What sort of drag was the last one to succeed before they stopped working, and what was the first to fail? Reposition something, drag in an image to load the place gun, etc...
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience...

  • Problem dragging some photos into book.. they don't show at all.

I have a problem dragging some photos into a book. I've never had this issue before. I can tell that "something" has moved because it often has a ! for resolution issues and the photo has the white check that signifies it has been used....but the photo doesn't show at all.
The photos were made into sepia prints.
Help! Any suggestions about what could be wrong?
    Thanks for any advice.

The ! indicates that iPhoto has broken/lost the file path to the original file. Make a backup copy of the library and run the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    Fix #2
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: It may take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos.
    Fix #3
Start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.

  • How do I view page margins and drag objects around to fit?

How do I view page margins and drag objects around to fit?

    Hi Sime,
Some ideas for workarounds now that Numbers 3 has lost Page Setup, Print View and Layout View.
    1. Numbers 2.3 is still on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in your Applications folder for the iWork '09 folder. Drag the Numbers '09 (Numbers 2) icon to your Dock. It will become an Alias. Right click (or control click) on it then Options > Keep in Dock. You might actually enjoy running both versions at the same time, to compare features. Just be careful which version you are running before you edit and save.
    2. Use Numbers 3 to export a document 'backwards' to Numbers 2. Be aware that features lost in Numbers 3 may not be restored by exporting 'backwards' to Numbers 2.
    3. In Numbers 3 > Preferences > Rulers
Those Guides help you to align objects with each other.
    4. Menu > View > Show Rulers. This will show zero for the top or right left margin. Then drag a ruler guide from top or left.

  • Since upgrading to Lion dragging objects is not accurate

Since i have upgraded to Lion i noticed a very annoying behavior, where dragging objects in Omnigraffle (latest versino) and Photoshop (latest version) often times skip a few pixel as soon as i release the mouse. Same effect with build-in trackpad, external trackpad and standart usb mouse.
I've turned of any sort of guides or snap to grid behavior without luck - especially since this was not neccesary in Snow Leopard.
    To reproduce:
    - Create an object, for example a rectangle
    - Start moving it with your mouse/trackpad
    - Release the button
    - Object jumps 2ish pixels up or left
MacBookPro 15" as well as MacBook Air 13" (both end of 2010 versions)
Does anyone else experience this? Any solutions?
    Thanks
    Chris

What about other programs? Have you updated the printer driver?

  • Exchanging positions of two drag objects in Captivate 7

I am learning to use Captivate 7 and am trying to use the drag and drop function to create a tile puzzle. Has anyone done this, or have an idea of how it might be done?
So far I have created a grid of target squares, each with its own "correct answer" drag object.
The idea goes something like this. If the user selects and drags a tile to its correct target, it will remain there, with the incorrect tile exchanging with the correct tile. If a tile is moved to an incorrect target it will return to its original location.
Any help on this would be much appreciated. I have read a description of this type of puzzle made with Captivate 6 and an installed widget. Just wondering if it can be duplicated within Captivate 7.

    Hello Scroderick,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Yes if the use will move the incorrect answer , It will come back to its original position and you can also type failure text (like this is incorrect) .
I have some urls related to Drag and Drop interaction which might be helpful to you

  • Determine if there's a dragged object.

I'd like to know on how to determine if there's a dragged object. Is there a way to do this?
I know if you start another drag on the other object it will stop the current dragged object.
Maybe there's a public function that will query about this?
    Randall

You could assign a boolean variable for that object that indicates whether or not it is being dragged.  Set it to true when startDrag occurs and false initially and when a stopDrag occurs.
Alternatively, you could have a single variable that you assign a reference to the dragged object to when one is being dragged and make it null when nothing is.
