1. Is this machine compatible to install Oracle Linum Software?

I have a problem during installation of EHP4 on IDES with preinstalled EHP3(I got it with media sent last year in april).
Namely during PREP_EXTENSION/EHP_INCLUSION! phase i got error:

Last error code set: Component 'WEBCUIF' not found
When checking components of ECC system I did not found 'WEBCUIF' component whereas in xml file (generated by SOLMAN) it exists. Which direction I should take. I am afraid to delete entries in xml file.

You need to download and install all requirements as selected by Solution Manager for EHP4, WEBCUIF is a required component. Do not delete any entries in the xml file.

Performance with Dedup on HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8

it is not that i haven't been warned. It is just that i simply do not understand why write performance on the newly created pool ist so horrible...
Hopefully, i'll get some mor advise here. Some basic figures:
The machine is a HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 with two Intel Xeon E5-2665 CPUs and 128GB Ram.
The storage-pool is made out of 14 900GB SAS 10k disks on two HP H221 SAS HBAs in two HP D2700 storage enclosures.

I just do not get this. Why is it that slow? Am i missing any tunable parameters? From the above figures the ddt should use 5354008*152=776MB in RAM. That should fit easily.
Sorry for the longish post, but i really need some help here, because the real data with much higher dedup ratio is still to be copied to that pool.
Compression is no real alternative, because most of the data will be compressed images and i don't expect to see great compression ratios.

Isn't the tunable parameter "arc_meta_limit" obsolete in Solaris 11?
Before Solaris 11 you could tune arc_meta_limit by setting something reasonable in /etc/system with "set zfs:zfs_arc_meta_limit=...." which - at boot - is copied into arc_c_max overriding the default setting.
On this Solaris 11.1 c_max is already maxed out to "kstat -p zfs:0:arcstats:c_max -> zfs:0:arcstats:c_max 136312127488" without any tunig. This is also reflected by the parameter "meta_limit = 0". Am i missing something here?
When looking at the output of "echo "::arc" | mdb -k" i see the values of "meta_used", "meta_max" and "meta_limit". I understand these as "memory used for metadata right now", "max memory used for metadata in the past" and "theoretical limit of memory used for metadata" with an value of "0" as "unlimited". Right?
What exactly is "arc_no_grow = 1" saying here?
Sorry for maybe asking some silly questions. This is all a bit frustrating ;)
When disabling dedup on the pool write performance is increasing almost instantly. I did not test it long enough to get real figures. I'll probably do this (eventually even with Solaris 10) tomorrow.
Would Oracle be willing to help me out under a support plan when running Solaris 11.1 on a machine which is certified for Solars 10 only?

Problem during installation of patch 9.2.0.5

Good morning,
I tried to install the patch 9.2.0.5 ID 3501955 but I've encoured a problem during
installation.
I've got a warning who asked me to stop somes services:
OracleMTSRecoveryService, OracleOraHome92TNSListener,
OracleOraHome92Agent et OracleServiceBETA.
After stopping it, I tried to install the patch again but I've got the
following error: "No service associated with process that use it" and
installation process stop at this point.
I would like to know if you succeed to install this patch and if you've
got an idea to fix my problem.

Did you run the catpatch.sql after the patch 9.2.0.5? You have to complete the post installation tasks as specified in the readme. We have a 9205 installation and have all the aw & awm packages in it.

Problem During Installation of ECC 6 on Windows 2003

Here I am facing problem during Import ABAP Phase.
It is throwing Error like that::
CJS-30022 Program 'Migration Moitor' exists with return code 103.
After completeing 9 stages, it's getting problem in Import packages and installation get stucked.
My Server is like that:
OS: Windows Server 2003
Hardware: HP Itanium IA64
Database: Oracle 10.2g
SAP Release : 2004s ECC 6
I have configured Java with j2sdk 1.4.2_12:
JRE 1.5 is not available for IA64 .
I reconfigured the parameter "shared_pool_size" (to 400MB)in init<sid>.ora at \oracle\<sid>\database.
Also adjusted another parameter which is "shared_pool_reserved_size" i.e. 10% of the shared_pool_size.
What to do now.
Please send me feed backs.

run 'ls -lrta' in /tmp/sapinst_instdir/.... (whatever the lowest path is there, where all the log files are). You should see something like sap<something>.tsk and sap<something>.log. Look at the most recently updated sap<something>.log file for the specific error. One problem I've seen is that if you configure the advanced oracle config to turn off AUTOEXTEND on the tablespaces, the abap load will bomb because it runs out of space. Also, make sure your SYSTEM tablespace has at least 500M.
Posting the relevant contents of the log with the detailed error description would help us provide a better answer as well.

I had same problem.i resolved it by reinstalling OS and configuring high Page file.
Please set the max and min Page file size of same value.
and also do the java memory tuning as per SAP Notes.

Problem during installation of Integration (SAP BO 2007) with CLUSTER

I've a problem during the installation of SAP BO Integration version 2007 SP00 PL15.
The InstallShield Wizard make a test to connection to SQL Server database SBO-COMMON and the test have a negative result:
"Unable to connect to database; verify database server name and that database is started".
I've alredy installed the integration without problem on a normal server, but this problem is on a cluster.
More information of the system are:
- Windows enterprise 2003 SP1 (2 server cluster fail over)
- SQL Server 2005 SP2 (cluster)
It seems that it can't find the SQL on the cluster.

Is important to know well SQL Server 2005.
Go to Programs->MS SQL Server 2005-> Configuration tools-> SQL Server Configuration Manager.
Into the window, select: SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration -> Protocols for MSSQLSERVER > TCP/IP
Here, you must set the IP address of your server (Ex. 192.168.0.55), not Dynamics Address.
In the "all" instance, specify the Dynamic port 1433.
Now, you can install Integration without problems (is not necessary set the node name in tha installation wizard, because the system is not able to select it)

Since the trial version is very sensitive regarding other software on the same system, I loaded it onto a clean installation of Windows Server 2003 within Microsoft Virtual PC. No installation problems ever since!
It should be enough to provide the virtual machine with 0.5 GB of memory, but you'd better spare 2 or 3 GB for that...
(This also has the nice side effect that it's reachable from the complete home network )

Pacman problem during installation process

I have serious problem with installing arch on my machine, during installation packages pacman completely broke system, it prints kernel bug message, output is here:

its from x86_64 2009.02 image, but same problem with i686 image 2009.02 and 2008.06 too, hardware is intel little falls so nothing special, simply there is no way to install arch on my machine

I get this error every time at point Install Packages, it hangs randomly on packages, on i686 it completely locks, on x86_64 after pacman failure I can still type to terminal and possibly control installator but init 0 or 6 freeze. I tried every time on fresh created filesystem. It seems like pacman bug, next I try install some packages manually from terminal.

Problem during installation of WAS patches

hi,
when i am applying WAS patches,the process staggers for a very long time (nearly a day)at the "deploying online" step.does this take this long?...could someone suggest waht should be done?..

I got similar problem while installation stop at 41% and swapped to second CD (data 1). It hangs at message "Creating CoProcess SAPCAR ....".
After reading some other posted message, I created CD images of WAS 6.20 - second CD (data 1) and third CD (data 2), mounted them as virtual drives on XP Pro. Restart the installation again, when prompt to locate second CD, I selected the virtual drives. After hanging for several minutes at 41%, the installation continue..... prompt to locate third CD.... until 100% installation complete. I know this is weird because I have no problem to install on my notebook by changing CD physically. This problem is only happen on my desktop using intel G31 mobo and E8500 cpu.
