PROBLEM EDITING MUSIC VIDEO

Hi i have this problem, i am editing a music video,I capture all the footage and everything is fine, no dropped frames.
the audio is at 48,00 and the timeline settings too.
When i sync the footage with the original music in the timeline it goes well, but starts to go out on sync as it plays.Every time i edit a music video i have to resync everything every 30 seconds or something like that, Theres a way to fix this ???
sorry fot my english

When doing audio playback on location we use Nagras, DAT or, more often these days, an iPod. For many a feature when my Nagra was in the shop and before DAT, I used a battery powered VHS HIFI deck. Whole features, three months of shooting at least, and I never had drift due to the function of the HIFI audio being recorded using a video head rather than an analog linear head, which can drift.
Cd play back could be at question, does a battery powered cd play back digital audio at a slower or faster rate depnding on batery power like a cassette tape? For professional playback on a location that has power we use any of the above as well, as at times, a cd player plugged into the wall so I am never faced the question of batterie slow down.
Are MiniDVs, which record the video digitally, not ALSO recording the audio digitally or is it a linear recorded track? Perhaps it is different camera to camera. It does make sense that if the Mini DV is recorded 33/12-bit, and it's captured as 48/16-bit that there would be sync issues, even with digital audio.
As suggested before, try capturing a section of your video at 33. If the sync problem goes away, recapture everything and connect your timeline to the new media it is way less time consuming than re-syncing every 30 seconds.

  • Problem Playing music videos

I just bought the Apple TV and downloaed 76 music videos along with a playlist for the videos. I go through the menu to play the music video Playlist. I have 2 problems here.
1 - Within the playlist, the shuffle feature won't work. I get a message that says the song can't be played.
2 - When I select and play the first song on the playlist it plays fine but when it is over I have to manually play the next song...which *****. hat am I doing wrong - or what do I need to do to have the ATV play the entire playlist of music videos without my intervention?
    HP   Windows XP

I agree this is crazy, and surely an easy fix for Apple. It's also a problem in Frontrow which I'd hoped would be fixed for Leopard. Perhaps it will be, but given that Frontrow 2.0 is meant to be identical to the Apple TV interface I'm not too hopeful.
Here's something interesting though... try a google search on "front row playlist popcorn". What you get as the top hit is a link to Apple's page on the iMac, which includes the line "hit play and pass the popcorn". Fine. BUT... look at the google preview of the page before you click on that link. It says something different: "Put together a humorous video playlist and pass the popcorn."
Looks like the page once contained false advertising and was then edited by Apple. Even they're copy writers couldn't believe they had to check whether it played video playlists!

  • Any suggestions for editing Music Videos with Multiclip?

Hi there. I have been reading about the new multiclip feature in FCPHD5. Sounds as if it would be perfect for editing a performance music video with multiple run throughs. In fact it almost seems too good to be true. I was writing to ask if anyone has tried this and what problems they encoutnrered or what workflow they could recommend. I haven't used multiclip before (or editied many music videos either) and would appreciate any suggestions.
This is my idea so far.
capture offlineRT the whole tape, make subclips with an angle setting of each take. Then edit the multiclip in a timeline which includes the song as an audio track. I thought I would synch with inpoints manually set to the beginning of the songs first riff in playback (as there was no clapper on set that day, curse them)
I have questions about onlining as well and how to make it a less tormenting nerve racking experience. Maybe its just me but the thought of trashing all the media, duplicating projects and recapturing makes me break out in a cold sweat. But I'll deal with that later.
Thanks for your thoughts, observations, suggestions.
    Have a merry Christmas
    Sincerely
    Peter Stenhouse

The plan was to sync up the mixed PT audio to the video track. However the club screwed up the recording and I was left with using the audio from one of the tripod mounted cameras that I placed a stereo mike on.< </div>
    General advice for live performances:
    1. Depending on a computer to make the only recording is a silly idea. Use tape or a minidisk. Take a line feed off the main board and record it on at least one of the cameras.
    2. There is nothing that will substitute for missing timecode better than a good countdown. Insist the band develop a creative visual and aural timing cue that all cameras and mics can see.
    3. The most important part of shooting a performance or a lipsync gig for mulitcamera assembly is preproduction. The bugs, glitches and gotchas are all well known and thoroughly documented on thousands of band blogs.
    4. There is no excuse to go into a location shoot unprepared and carrying a solid backup plan for all of the stuff that will go wrong.
    5. A full, all-camera, all-personnel rehearsal is a good idea.
    6. The band's lighting guy knows nothing about video. Give him some help or give him the day off.

  • Problem watching music videos on ipad 2

Hey, I cannot watch my music videos (itunes originals) on my ipad, but i still can watch them on iphone and macbook. Can please someone explain? Thanks!

I had this problem and found that I didn't have checked "Include Music Videos" on the device's music page.  I checked that and everything appeared in the Videos app.

  • Can someone check if they also have this problem with music videos?

I have converted a 1 hour music DVD using Videora and it plays fine as a movie. I only want to listen to it so in order to not have to have the screen on I changed the type to 'music video' using Get Info and specified artist and album names. This displays the DVD in the Music menu as well as the Music video menu.
When I play it from the music video menu it is ok but from the music menu I get regular pauses of about 1-2 seconds every 3 - 4 minutes when playing it.
I have tried different DVD's and also different dvd to ipod software.
I would appreciate someone else letting me know if they have this problem.
    Thanks

Doh, thanks Lane, setting TV Out to ON fixes the problem for me.
I guess the iPod uses a different process (or cashing) for videos played from the music menu to when they are played from the Video menu.

  • Problem with music videos

When I first got my 30 gig, 5G iPod a few days ago, my music videos I downloaded worked fine. However, yesterday when I went to play one, it just played like a regular song, and I haven't been able to play the video. Anyone know what's up?

Well, if you didn't back them up somehow, then no, there is no way to get them back.
If they are all not on your iPod. There is no way.
Apple will not give you or allow you to re-download lost songs/videos for free.
    Sorry.

  • HELP - Problem Playing Music Videos on 5G iPod

I've downloaded 3 music videos to my 60 Video iPod. I've watched all of them recently but today i've got no sound or no picture but the video playlist is still there and the iPod starts to play them but i just get a black screen with the white play arrow and i can alter the volume.
    Any ideas or help please???
    Many thanks

If the audio for movies plays through the headphones and you see "Now Playing" on the iPod screen with a progress bar, but the video does not appear on the iPod screen, then you may have the TV Out video setting turned on.
To change your TV Out setting so you can view video with your sound:
Navigate on your iPod to Videos > Video Settings
Select TV Out to set it to Off or Ask.
If the issue continues, make sure you are accessing the video through the Videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist, you also won't be able to see the video.

  • Final cut pro - editing music video audio falls out of sync

filmed with canon 7D- i play the music in the background for th artist to perform. upon loading up the footage into final cut, i sync the start of the video audio with the record, as they both play it falls out of sync. i did not have this problem when i edited with premiere. any ideas

Sync issues are *usually* going to be mismatched sample rates, for instance, you imported 44.1kHz audio into a 48kHz project.
This happened to me awhile back, and unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it. But what I *think* I did was click on the imported audio and went to the Retime menu and selected Conform Speed. If that doesn't work, right click on the audio in the event browser and select Transcode (if there's an option to do so in the dialog).
It is also possible to manually resync audio by Retiming it. Turn on snapping (N), select the clip, type Command-R and drag the audio clip's retiming handle until the end of the audio snaps with the end of the video clip (this is actually amazingly accurate.) [If your recorded audio is not the same length of the audio on the video, then set markers on the video and audio tracks and retime until the markers snap.] You should do this before any other edits.

  • Having problems editing Quicktime Video

I am trying to cut a portion of video and Quicktime is getting greedy.
I have a 24 second portion that I want to remove. I use the markers to identify the section that I want to remove. I go to the Edit menu and click on Cut.
The section disappears along with another 14 seconds.
I used a number of different ways to tell it to remove the segment. I have tried this with the Delete command, The Delete key, and the Backspace key.
This worked yesterday so I know it can do it. Any ideas?
    Leigh Zeitz

Any chance the file you're working with is MPEG-1 format?
QT Pro doesn't edit the format.
Use MPEG Streamclip (free) to first fix the timecode stamps and then edit the file.

  • Timeline won't render in Premiere Elements 12 (and music video editing advice)

I have a section of video I'm editing that won't render. I've read some similar threads but still have a question about how I can edit the clips to 'force' a render.
I'm running PE 12 on a Core i3 laptop running Windows 8, so not a huge amount of processing power. I don't have an orange line above the timeline over these clips and I understand PE has decided that it's already giving me the best possible preview quality and doesn't need to render this section. However, it's four quick edits in time to some music and when I preview it back my computer clearly can't process the video and audio fast enough because I get very jerky video so I can't verify that the cuts are perfectly aligned to the drum beats.
I've been exporting the whole four minutes just to review about five seconds of video in the middle to make sure it's synched, and this is getting really frustrating as I'm having to make frame by frame adjustments to improve the sync.
Is there anything I can do to each clip, like adjust an image setting, to force PE to give me an orange line and want to render this section?
Just as an aside to anyone who edits music video type clips - if you're making, say, four quick cuts to four drum beats in a bar, do you find the audio/visual sync works best if the cut is on the frame the drum beat attack starts on, or does it seem more natural if it's one or two frames after the initial attack so it's 'mid drum beat'? I'm tending to find just after the initial attack looks/sounds better for me - but maybe that's something to do with the delay in my PC processing the frame!
    Thanks for any advice,
    Chris.

    Chris
Please excuse the questions, but I did not want to take anything for granted...are you sure that you are looking above the Timeline content for the render indicator line? Assuming that you are OK with that.....
Are the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar placed so that they span the entire content of the Timeline, including this five second content which you say cannot be rendered. Remember rendering does not fix problems, rather it is a preview that helps you to realize that a problem exists sooner than later. Consequently, please confirm if an orange line persists over that five second content even if you press the Render key above the Timeline.
Have you expanded the Timeline content to the maximum with the Zoom Out Zoom In Slider above the Timeline get the best look at the content on the Timeline in contrast to get the best possible preview in the Edit area monitor?
Have you gone to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and set the Audio Display Format to Milliseconds if you are involved in audio edits?
Have you been nudging audio in sync with video using shortcuts, such as...
As you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, tap the left or right arrow key once (one tap = 1 frame nudge)
As you hold down the Shift+Alt keys of the computer main keyboard, tap the left or right arrow key once (one tap = 5 frames nudge)
I would suggest that exploration and experimentation are the best tools with which to work to achieve a specific effect for your specific
    situation.
Please review and then let us know if any of the above targets your questions about your workflow.
    Thank you.

  • ITunes ignores the "stop time" for music videos since 10.6.7 osx update.  Tried with iTunes 10.2.1, 10.2.2, 10.3.  Only way to make it work is to back out to 10.6.6 (time consuming).  Has nobody else noticed this?

Only a problem with music videos. Normal audio tracks work fine.  Introduced with 10.6.7.  10.6.8 failed to fix it.
Set the "stop time" of a music video to 10 seconds shorter than the full length and iTunes will still play it to the end.  Very annoying, especially if there's a bunch of noise at the end of a song.

More info: After I upgraded to 10.6.7, I first noticed the problem.  Downgraded to 10.6.6 and it worked again.  Upgraded to 10.6.8 when it was released to see if this had the issue fixed - but it didn't, iTunes failed to stop on time again (only music videos).
Just downgraded to 10.6.6 and it still doesn't work!!!  Now I'm really screwed and confused.  HELP!

  • ITunes Music Video. Sound but no video

Today I updated to OS X 10.7 Lion and have also installed iTunes 10.4.
Now I have a problem playing music videos, they play but I get sound only and no video.
How do I get the video stream to run as well?
    Thanks

Posting this question bought up the solution from another thread, "deselect the airplay speakers". I did this now it works fine.
I would have expected iTunes to give a warning. Ah well...
