Problem encoding video project

I am trying to export a project that I have created but keep having problems encoding it. I can start the queue fine but it keeps failing with the following warning:
- Source File: D:\DOCUME~1\PR\LOCALS~1\Temp\Exit Festival 2009_2.prproj
- Output File: D:\Documents and Settings\pptdgc\Desktop\Sequence 01_2.avi
- Preset Used: Custom
- Video: 720x576, 25 [fps], Lower, Quality 100
- Audio: 48000 Hz, Stereo, 16 bit
- Bitrate:
- Encoding Time: 00:07:56
28/08/2009 21:45:56 : Encoding Failed
Error compiling movie.
Unknown error.
I'm not sure how to go about finding what the problem is?
Thanks

I have it installed on my laptop and on my PC and I get the same problem with both.
Not sure why i selected custom - I have tried with the default PAL DV and get the same problem.
Thanks

Project Siena is a very positive tool! But I have an unsolved problem:
    1) To add a video, it works perfectly, without problem.
    2) Publication smoothly.
    3) When installed on a computer, the APP works fine, except the video ... you can run, but to maximize a major error: disappears from the screen and places it below the same with what is not correctly.
Has anyone tried this process and it works well?

    Joan,
Does this video error happen to you on all apps created by Siena, or just apps you create using Siena?  For example, if you download the "AdventureWorks" from

  • Problems for encoding videos

    Hello,
    I have problems with videos.
I have 2 videos (face and profil) in high definition - HD, which have not the same duration and the same size.
They are cut in final Cut Express HD. After cutting, they have the same duration (for example : 20'10) and not the same size.
When I compress them with Compressor or Cleaner 6, the both videos have NOT the same size at the end. I use the same ajustements for the 2 videos.
DVD Studio Pro refuse the 2 videos because they have not the same size !
This problems appears also on another MAC (MAC G5 bipro).
I want to know how I cant resolve the problem ? Is it a problem with compression ?
I have tested with 2 videos (MPEG2) from another project (same size and samed length).
I have compressed with compressor and Cleaner and them have not the same size after compressing !
There is a problem with compressing and not with the source.
I need to have 2 videos (angle) to put in DVD Studio Pro 4.
    Thank you for helping me.
    Best regards.
    Rameur PL

On a side note, I find it irksome that people are still calling HD video in the states NTSC.  Technically, it's ATSC.  Companies like Adobe really should know better.
Well, they did put the correct preset name of 30i for AVCHD.  Maybe they'll get the ATSC thing right in CS5.

  • DVD encoded video and audio progressively get out of sync

    Hi Compressor professionados,
I've been trying to finalise a DVD I’m creating but keep having the same show-stopping problem where I just can't get the timing of the audio and video right after encoding it to MPEG-2/ac3 for DVD Studio Pro. When I lay it into the track in DVDSPro it plays fine at the start of the track but as the clip gets longer the audio and video gets further and further out of sync, by a few seconds (eg. for over 1 hour length footage).
I've seen similar posts online about timing issues with Compressor but nothing I saw has hit the nail on the head for me. I also posted my problem on Creative Cow but didn't get the help I needed to fix my problem.
    Here's the specs:
    FCPro X 10.1.4
    Video project: 1080i (@ 25i)
    Audio 44.1 kHz
    Render: Apple ProRes 422
    Length: 01:13:05:02
    Compressor 4.1.3
MPEG-2 Setting (only what I think is important... or I don't know)
    Format: Elementary Stream
    Stream Usage: DVD
Retiming: Set duration to: 100% (shows 01:13:05:02)
    Video Frame Rate: Auto (25fps)
    Field Order: Same as Source
    GOP: greyed out at 12
    ac3:
Sample rate: 48kHz (the only choice)
    Data rate: 224 kbps
    DVD Studio Pro 4.2.1
    PAL DVD-9 project
From FCP I send my project to Compressor and when I drop both a DVD Audio and Video codec onto it they both show as Retiming 100% (and the length looks the same) but the results are still unsynchronised at the end of the clip when they are placed into the Track in DVDSPro. I've also tried changing different settings, like MPEG-2 Retiming duration to "So source frames play at 25 fps", but I'm still having troubles.
At one point I managed to get the A/V timing right for my track and I then ran what I thought was the same settings for all my other tracks in the DVD but they ended up with a similar outa-sync problem so I deleted everything to try again and realised I'd deleted my good files. And I just can't seem to replicate it again. I’m not sure if it was an accidental mistake that worked or I hit on the right settings. Either way, it shouldn’t be this hard to get it right, for heaven's sake!!!
Also, strangely, when I open the MPEG-2 file in QuickTime Player (10.4) it shows 01:10:30 long but if I open the same file in QuickTime Pro 7 it shows as the correct 1:13:05. And DVD Studio Pro shows 01:13:05:02 for both the audio & video assets but their sync is still out at the end.
This problem stopped me from producing the DVD last Christmas and I tried to pick it up again to give it to the family for this Christmas but ended up having to bail yet again - not impressed!!!
I'm hoping it's a simple solution of getting the settings right but it may also be a bug! Apparently, my bro-in-law has had similar problems and has ditched the DVD route altogether. I already have all of my menus etc. set up and I'd hate to have to ditch all that hard work.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    Brett

Thanks so much Russ & Tom!
It was as easy as changing the sample rate in the FCP project from 44.1 to 48 and sending it to Compressor again. I think it was set to 44.1 because I had the project set to automatically assign the parameters from the first video dropped into it. I haven't checked yet but the audio from my camera is likely 44.1.
It would be nice if Compressor produced a warning message when you set the codec up for DVD audio that the original is set to a different sample rate & may cause timing problems when resampled to 48kHz.
Anyway, again THANKS lads for solving what has been a year long problem for me and now I can complete my Christmas project, albeit late!
    Virtual chocolates to you both!!!

  • Encoding videos to n82

how can i encode videos on n82 with full screen.i used nokia video manager and the videos to use the full screen.any good encoder??
At last a nseries phone im truely happy with THE N82

I have the same problem, been trying to make a disc image for over 6 months now, a wedding video of 2hours and 23 minutes long. It always seems to crash somewhere in the end part of encoding. Very frustrating. I had no problem if the movie is cut to under 2 hours but this particular project must be in 1 DVD in it's entirety. I am at the end of my wits and I cannot believe that iDVD with all it's upgrades cannot get it right. I also tried to export to full quality DV and remade all the chapters and to my surprise the audio was out of sync due to the original footage was in 12 bit audio. Back to square 1, upgraded my ram to 8 GB if that helps, reinstalled the whole OS with the upgrades, have 200 GB free space on the internal where the movie resides, have the latest iMovie 6 with the latest iDVD 6, repaired permissions, tried best performance and also best quality.. same end results..no disc image. The only way I can get this movie on 1 DVD is to export the movie sans chapters as is to a stand alone DVD recorder in VBR mode. Has anyone made a disc image of over 2 hours? Any suggestions appreciated.

  • How to get photos show up in a video project?

Hi! I'm trying to import photos from a Canon Powershot SX210 IS into a movie project. I first imported the photos into iPhoto library and photos show up in the project, then I drag and drop then into the project timeline but once I play the video project it only shows black instead of the videos. What do I have to do? Do the photos have to be in certain file format / certain size? Now the photos are raw 14 megapixel monsters. Thanks for help!

I have the same problem and it's not just when I input photos but even when I add a transition at the beginning of the show.

  • Sleep Display not staying asleep when encoding video

    Hello,
I am looking for a way to turn the display off and KEEP it off with applications running as normal, until I want to wake it up. It is not always staying asleep.
I have a hot corner set up so that I can instantly turn my iMac display off (including the backlight). This works fine most of the time, but when running certain applications, activating sleep display works for a few seconds then stops working and the screen comes back to life.
Example applications which cause this are iTunes when encoding a video (e.g. converting a movie to iPod format), iSquint when encoding video, iDVD when encoding and burning a DVD - seems to be anything that makes heavy use of the processor.
I have tried all sorts of things to get around this:
    1. setting the sleep display timer to 1 minute in the Energy Saving settings
    2. 3rd party application and widget "Sleep Display" (http://linestreet.googlepages.com/home) which claims to make the display go to sleep and STAY asleep, suggesting "This version may work for people who experienced the monitor going off then coming right back on" - which indicates that it's not just me having the problem. This "Sleep Display" application doesn't work with Leopard though; the author acknowledges this and suggests he will update it if he upgrades to 10.5
    3. different application - http://www.imalc.com/Site/SleepDisplay.html - this does the same as the hot corner and wakes up within a few seconds
    4. sleep display tool in Dockables - same problem
    5. "shades" system preference add-on, this makes the screen black and keeps it black but doesn't turn the backlight off
    6. tried hiding the offending application, moving it to another space - nothing seems to work!
    7. covering the imac with clothes - not ideal!
    Thanks for your help!
    Jim
P.S. the screensaver does stay on - so whatever is waking the sleep display isn't disturbing the screen saver - this suggests to me it's a bug. Obviously a black screensaver isn't the solution though - the backlight is still on.

I've got a very the similar problem. Brand new iMac 24" that shipped with Leopard -- my first Mac after jumping ship fom the Windoze side.
I had iTunes updating it's album artwork and since it was taking a while, I went to bed. When I turned out my light, I realized the screen had not yet gone to sleep (a good 15 minutes after it should have). So I set up a Hot Corner to put the display to sleep. When I put the mouse there, the monitor would go to sleep, but wake up within 10 seconds. At first I thought it was just the mouse moving as I walked away, but it wasn't.
I ended up turning the computer off because the big beautiful screen was throwing too much light. Since, I rarely turn my computers off and they're usually doing SOMETHING, this is really annoying.
Admittedly, I haven't tried some othe the potential solutions above, but this has to be the same bug. Screen saver stays on, monitor comes out of sleep.
    Any help would be.....well.....helpful.

  • Encoded video doesn't work on Toshiba Blu-ray disc player

I have a problem that I am trying to encode a sequence of frames in a video container , but the encoded video doesn't work on toshiba blu ray disc player .. I am using the following ffmpeg command to encode frames and convert them to a video:
    ffmpeg -i "C:\ManVsWigan\Frames\%d.png" -vcodec libx264 "C:\ManVsWigan\encoded.mp4"
I tried multiple video codecs but no luck yet
    "-vcodec mpeg4"
    "-vcodec mpeg2video"
If you have any idea please help me

The BluRay player leverages parts of Windows DirectShow but won't serve very well as a general player since Windows will load other players for the majority of media formats.
You can get away with a limited amount of tampering of the BluRay's players tolerance of media files until you violate some far away written DRM safeguard and kneecapping the BluRay player from doing anything.
If you're trying to validate your ffmpeg composed tests of your content as part of the editing process, you're better to avoid relying on the BluRay player that is purposed for narrow replay of licensed content and equipped with oversensitive safeguards susceptible to malfunctioning from the invasions of video pirates like you defined by studio executives.
You and I understand you're not a pirate but chances aren't being taken.
Whether you just dowloaded FFmep in the macho exe format or part of the millions of other packages that include it, you can tune your players to codecs pretty easily with the KLite Codec Manager or the Registry.
Chances are you already know about KLite since editing video on Windows eventually requires it and its hard to walk down the street without eventually kiceking over a copy. But just in case you've been living on a Martian cave with your hands over your ears, snag a mirrored copy from: http://codecguide.com /download_kl.htm
I like KLite more than others because it is fairly unobtrusive and avoids stomping over other media tools the way Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas enslaves Windows and can neuter BluRay codecs without always adequately replacing them. I can cite threads on the matter but just googling for anything such as "Adobe Premier killed my BluRay" or "Sony Vegas ruined Windows" will usually return desperate strings of posts long enough to wrap around Jupiters equator.
For general maintenance of Windows poor codec management, grab this noninstalling executable http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/installed_codec.html to determine if Windows believes it has the same codecs you thought it did and you'll likely be surprised by the fine tuning you'll need to perform.

  • Quicktime 7.6.4 won't play h264 encoded videos on my 10.4.11 MacMini

    Hello:
This is my first post. I read through the forums and this seems to be the correct place to pose my question. If it's not, my apologizes.
I'm trying to find out why Quicktime 7.6.4 won't play h264-encoded video on my MacMini (G4 PPC). I'm running 10.4.11. I recently installed Perian 1.2.1 and it got some .avi files to play correctly, whereas before there was no sound. But the h264 files still get me a black screen, albeit with sound now. Some h264 files can be played in VLC Media Player (but that's a horrible player compared to Quicktime in my opinion, as it constantly drops frames and eats 100% of my processor time), but VLC even has the black screen problem on some h264 files as well.
I've also tried MPlayer OSX but that's really an alpha-type development and has a lot of bugs. Many movies it can't even open.
Sorry for the rambling, but again my question: Is there any way to play h264-encoded video in Quicktime 7.6.4 on my Mac?
Thanks in advance for your expertise and advice.

    Mr Ram,
There is a group of Quicktime specialists in Apple.com ⇒ Support ⇒ Discussions ⇒ Quicktime .
The more data you give us, the easier it is to help us help you to diagnose your problem. Your disk space would be very useful. Contrary to some, I advocate iDefrag to assist VLC and MPlayer, which you were a little hard on.
    GNU/Linux's free offerings
MPlayer was developed a decade ago, and I prefer it for viewing DVDs (for 'DVD Player') seems too dark. VLC (legally) copies many CRM-protected DVDs of yours, so you can play only the burned copy. When I'm having a problem playing a DVD, the VLC log tells me all: only perfect DVDs play well on VLC.
There are two ways of viewing everything.
    Streaming MPEG-4
+H.264/MPEG-4 AVC+ is a fancy codec based upon MPEG-4: it requires a powerful processor to de-compress it. I watched an MPEG-4 movie from a G3 iBook in 2005. It played flawlessly.
    Your Problem
Quicktime 7.X applications can not play +H.264/MPEG-4 AVC+ streams. It was a bug Apple never fixed. Frames are dropped because H.264 is so slow that it requires special hardware. You, I'm sad to say, don't have it.
To quote the Wikipedia on Quicktime: 'QuickTime 7 lacks support for H.264's Sample Aspect Ratio .[67] QuickTime X does not have this limitation; many Apple products (such as iTunes and Apple TV) still use the older QuickTime 7 engine.'
My Quicktime Pro on a PPC PowerBook is 7.6.4. You can either use a Linux transplant or upgrade to Quicktime X. Those more familiar with Macs may have better ideas for you.
    My best,
    Bruce

  • Video Project Workflow

I'm in the process of producing an instructional DVD. I imported video footage and edited it in Final Cut Pro. I still need to add a title screen and section/chapter breaks (using animated templates) and closing credits with LiveType; work on some audio sweetening with Soundtrack Pro; possibly add some animations with Motion; encode the project with Compressor; then build and burn a disc with DVD Studio Pro. My question is in what order should the project go? I know that Compressor and DVD Studio Pro should likely be last, but what about the other applications? This is my second go round with this project. The first time most of my subclips went offline in FCP and they could not be relocated so I had to reload all the original footage and re-edit it. I don't want that to happen again. I'd appreciate any help.

With Motion and LiveType it doesn't really matter so long as you're not duplicating or doing things over. Personally, you could probably use Motion for whatever you were planning on using LiveType for.
However, you should wait to do audio sweetening until you've achieved a "picture lock". That is, when you're FINISHED with all video editing.
Then, of course, Compressor and DVDSP.

  • PREMIERE PRO CS5.5 Gamma problem while exporting project to mjpeg A or B

    Dear Sir,
I'm in a big ****. I've directed and edited 1h documentary for Finnish television, also, the technical specs requested by the TV Channel is all production Broadcast masters must be encoded with Apple ProRES codec or MJPEG A or B.
As i'm working on PC (win7), the ProRES codec doesn't exist on PC system, so i've done the export to MJPEG. The problem is i have a different gamma level when i watch the final export with Quicktime or VLC. Of course i can adjust the level in those players, but it doesnt effect the file. When i import the Qt file into a Premiere sequence, the gamma level is still **** and different from my original level i have from my timeline and preview window. If i export the project to H264 1920x1080p25, then the gamma is perfect with Qt, VLC and WinMedia player. But the TV station don't wanna work with H264. Deadline is on next monday, and i can't send a Qt MJPEG file with wrong gamma !!!Any chance to find a solution to fix it ??? After reading different forum, i can see this problem exist since many years and never been solved.
    What can i do ??
    Denis.

Things is my prpject includ few effect plugins i bought, so what ever i could find a mac, not your i could export xml project to finalcut with plugins it dont have

If it were me, I wouldn't encode to MJPEG.
So as to encode to ProRes on Windows you can utilise any solution based on ffmpeg/ffmbc or better yet find a Mac with Final Cut or Compressor installed for delivering critical work.

  • Photoshop CS6 problem opening video files

I have the trial for Photoshop CS6 and the other day I was opening video files to make gifs from perfectly fine, however, now when I try to open video files a box opens saying "Reading Video Format" and then it gets stuck and frozen. I left it for an hour, when it came back it was just the same, sometimes it makes my whole computer freeze. I've tried several times with different formats, nothing works and I cannot open any kind of video file now into Photoshop.
Is this a common problem or is there anything I can do to sort it?

I have exactly the same issue with Photoshop CS6. I cannot open video files, such as the FLV and Quicktime files I have on my PC, although these file formats work without a problem in Bridge CS6. When I attempt to open a video file, the progress bar hangs just before it reaches all the way across, and nothing happens. When I press 'Cancel', I get a message saying something like 'The file could not be opened because the DynamicLink Media Server is not available'. On a rare occasion, I can get Quicktime files to eventually open, but not without cancelling the progress in the way I have described, and trying repeatedly. However, I have NEVER managed to open FLV files by repeatedly attempting to open them in a similar way.
Just installed the Dynamic Link Media Server CS6 Update 1.0.1 in the hope that it was a bug and this update cures this issue, as it said it fixes various bugs. It is just the same.
Can anybody give me any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
I do have Premiere Elements 8 and, although I cannot use FLV files with it because it does not support the FLV format, I can open Quicktime files (a format it supports) without a problem. I would like to be able to use video files with Photoshop CS6 but, unless I can figure out what the problem is, I can only use Premiere Elements 8 for any video projects.

  • Media Encoder Not Encoding Whole Project

    Hi all,
Pulling my hair out here and have deadlines to (maybe) reach.
I am using the trial version of CS6 Premiere Pro, Media Encoder etc through Creative Cloud on a Windows 64bit based machine.
Problem is I am trying to export a sequence (DSLR, 25fps) that is about 1hour 5minutes long (video and audio).
My settings are Mpeg2 DVD Custom, Quality 5, 2 pass VBR min 3, average5, max 7, maximum depth render, tick all the other boxes to make it the best quality etc.
Send it out to media encoder to let it do its thing. wait the hours then end up with a Mpeg2 file that has the full time frame of audio but only 45 minutes of video footage.
I have not rendered the timeline so there are some red and yellow lines but that shouldn't matter?
I have also done this with a video only sequence that came out 20 minutes short too.
Any ideas for a desperate man?
    Thanks heaps in advance,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
Is content missing at the end of the movie, or is everything there but the duration's wrong?
What app(s) are you using to check the duration of the encoded video?
Try setting in/out points either in PPRO to shorten the sequence to just a minute or so, set Source Range to Sequence In/Out Range, and encode that segment using your custom settings. Is the video still shorter than the audio? If so, then you can use the short segment for the following tests.
What is the multiplexer setting? DVD or None? If None, please try with it set to DVD.
Please try encoding using one of the system presets. If the resulting video is the correct duration, then I have one suggestion and one request:
Suggestion: starting from the system preset, change one setting at a time to match your custom settings, then encode to see if the video duration is wrong. I'd start with Max Depth, then Max Render Quality and Frame Blending of those are enabled in your custom settings.
Request: please post a copy of your custom preset for us to download. If you don't have any place to post it, then you can email it to me at mapes [at] adobe (dot) com.

  • Premiere CS4 - Audio sync problems, Encoding Problems

    Hi,
I've been using Premiere CS3 for encoding 20-25 minute videos to deploy on a Flash Media Streaming server.
Today I upgraded to CS4 and everything that I render to FLV/FV4, H264 or Quicktime format has serious audio sync problems when I use AAC as the audio codec. Unfortunately for me, AAC is the codec that I need to use for the streaming server. The audio is synchronized to begin with, but it gets progressively unsynched as the video progresses.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using bitrates of 256 kbps, 512kbps for the video and 24 kbps / 32 kbps for the audio.
Another thing that I've noticed is that many of the options that I used when encoding videos are no longer available!! For instance, I cannot generate hinting tracks for Quicktime, and most of the audio frequencies are gone for Quicktime as well.
    What a disappointment:(
    -Chris

Seems to be an on going issue with no response from Adobe.  Have the same issue with the audio running ahead of the video.  (Cool if this was an old Japanese monster video).
Running CS4 PP & AME all updates are current.  Nvida Quardro CX (current drivers 4.20.006) used several formats (Elemental h.264 to MPEG-2) same issue.

  • Encode Video Files not working for avi files

    Hi,
I've been trying to convert some .avi files to apple format using Lion's native 'Encode video files' function however keep getting a 'avconvert: source file not found for source file://fileparthhere avconvert: failed to create an export session. Check setup
I can't work out why as this has worked before in Lion and works fine for other video formats. The only thing I've done is remove Final Cut Express HD and can't add it again as I don't own it anymore
Suggestions? Is there a encoder to make this work or should it work anyway?
    Thanks

If you click Yes the project file will be updated when you save it. That has nothing to do with the media.
Are the Lesson and Media folders still in the Book Files folder (or whatever it's called)?
Select one of the clips in the browser and use Edit>Item Properties. One of the first lines is Source. That gives you the file path for where your media is supposed to be located. What does it say? If nothing is there, use the File>Reconnect function and point the application to where the media is located.
