Problem exporting with Premiere Pro/Media Encoder CS4
Hey there. I've got 15-minute long movie edited in Premiere. Whenver I've tried rendering/exporting to see what the final product looks like, Media Encoder will usually freeze up about halfway through encoding. The time estimated/time elapsed will freeze, and if I cancel the encoding the program freezes up.
Other times I will get an error that says "encode failed because the source duration is nil". Not sure what that means, but the render arrows in the work area are never set to zero.
Additionally, I've tried exporting different lengths of the project only to have the same results, with Media Encoder failing each time.
Any suggestions on how to fix the problem?
My footage is in .mp4 format, and I'm also exporting to the same format. I've got numerous music and voiceover files as well. Resolution when exporting is 1280x720, and the max bitrate is 7.0mbps.
It seems more like a software problem than a lack of adaquate hardware, but I'm running a laptop with Windows 7 64-bit with a 2.0 GHz CPU and 8GB of RAM - I'm not sure how to find out what kind of video card I have.
Thanks for any assistance, it is greatly appreciated! Some reading

My 3 hard drives are configured as... (WD = Western Digital)
1 - 320G WD Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1T WD all video files... input & output files
Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows swap file

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

Ressource Problem: Export with graphical reports from projects with integrated sub-projects
Hi all,
i have the following problem with the exported data of the graphical reports possibility.
Expected output:
OLAP Cube with processes and ressources
Setup:
Project Server 2010 with Enterprise ressource pool
One main project with 6 integrated sub-projects
Every ressource is assigned to just one sub-project or the main project
Problem:
The data (work and cost) in the OLAP Cube exported from the main project is 7 times (some reports 49 times) higher than the data in the main project
Tested scenarios:
Export just processes -> data is correct
Export just ressources -> data is 7 times higher
Generate another main project with 2 sub-projects and no ressources in the main project - Export of processes and ressources -> data is 2 times higher
Because of the tested scenarios I expect that this is a problem caused by ressources and integrated sub-projects.
I hope that this community is able to help me to solve this problem.
Thanks & all the bests,
HolgerUsing the "Baseline work report", I can't reproduce your issue:
I have 1 task in each project (2 projects) with a resource assigned on each task (80hrs). The report correctly shows me 160 hrs.
Which Project 2010 SP and CU do you have? I'd suggest you to install the
latest version and see if it helps.
Hope this helps,

Hi everybody, I have a problem and I hope you can help me. I have a cs4 project in HDV 50i, 1440x1080 and aspect ratio 1.333
When I do the export in Mpg2 Pal 720x576 in 16:9, its aspect ratio changes in 1.459 creating two black strips on the sides.
How can I do my export preserving the original ratio, the 1.333 one?
Thanks
DamianoGo to the export settings. In the source tab in the left top corner press crop and add 13pix for the bottom and top.

Problem exporting with adobe encoder. Please help
While using adobe premiere cs4 I export my project as mpeg4. then it opens the NTSC, 176x144, 15 fps.. It opens in adobe encoder and then i hit queue. after it is done it open up in "adobe device central" and that's where i'm lost. All i want to do is upload my video on to Youtube.com. What am I doing wrong??
You never showed a screen capture of what your starting media is.
Im guessing its standard DV at 720x480 ?
Dont use MPEG4
Use the H264 and then select the YouTube pre-set that matches your source footage.
3GP (3GPP file format) is a multimedia container format defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) for 3G UMTS multimedia services. It is used on 3G mobile phones but can also be played on some 2G and 4G phones.
Using the H264 should get you what you want.
It you shoot in widescreen you can choose that one too.

Problem exporting with keywords in 1.3
When I export pictures to jpg Lightroom is no longer embedding keywords. I use this functionality when I send pictures to Flickr. Until recently it worked flawlessly. I suspect it stopped working at the 1.3 upgrade, but I am not certain. The relevant files are raw. I'm working on a Windows XP machine. Any ideas?
Jim FeyrerMake sure 'Minimize Embedded Metadata' is not checked on Export.

Error when exporting with Quicktime
I'm having some problems exporting with Quicktime from iMove '08. Here are my settings:
(The highlighted portion says 20,000 kbits/sec)
I have exported using these settings before, but for some reason, it gives me error code -2002 when it finishes exporting now, and tells me that it can't export. Anyone know what error code -2002 is? I can't find it here or on Google. Exporting straight to m4v worked just fine.I'm exporting at those dimensions because that's just where I had it set (lol). I didn't even realize it was HD until just now, but like I said, I put the lowest possible data rate (32 kbits/sec) and the smallest dimensions possible (160x120) and it still didn't work.
However, I had completely missed the fact that the audio wasn't being exported. I reset the audio settings and tried again on the smallest setting, and that worked. Thanks for your help! -
CS 4 Dynamic Link to Encore doesn't work most of the time. Encore stops operating after opening and periodically Premier Pro stops working. I'm told that there has been a problem with CS4 when using Dynamic Link to go to Encore and build CD's. Is there a way around this? Is there a patch to correct it?
To build CD's???
What problem does Encore have with DL?
If DL is not working properly for you the way around this is to export from Premiere to either mpeg2-dvd for DVD or BluRay H.264 for BD-disks and import the files in Encore. -
I am having a problem trying to export a swf file from my fla file in adobe flash CS4. Every time I try to export my fla file to a swf the progress bar reaches about 7/8 of the way to finishing, but then the progress bar goes away. The swf file is no where to be found, where I tell it to be exported to. I don't seem to have problem exporting scenes from the fla file though, just when I export the whole thing. Maybe the file is to big? The file size is 486, 508 KB. If anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be greatly appreciated.
Acrobat's Bookmark creation facility is associated with PDF page content.
The content of the inserted SWF file is not part of the PDF page content.
There may be something possible using Action Script and Acrobat JavaScript.
But, I'd guess that's a question for those respective scripting forums.

Problem exporting a Converted CS4 project
My system:
Make: 2009 Mac Pro 4,1
OS: 10.6.4
CPU: 2 x 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
RAM: 32 GB
HDD: 4 x 1.5 TD: 1 for the OS and apps, 1 for project files, 1 for render, 1 for time machine backup
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800
APP: PPro CS5 ver. 5.0
I have been working on an older CS4 project that needed a few changes and then to be finalized. I can open and work on the project just fine, but it fails on export every time. IF I am lucky, I get an error window with just an exclamation point that says "Error Compiling Movie. Unknown Error." Which is unbelievably helpful...
However, usually it will lock up my entire machine. The whole screen will be frozen with no ability to access anything and I will have to hold the power button to turn the machine off and restart. The project in question is a mix of m2t and HVX P2 footage as well as some titles and still photos totaling around 5:40 long. So far this only seems to happen with older CS4 converted projects. I have opened 4 CS4 projects and tried exporting with 50-50 results. 2 exported just fine and 2 gave me this error. However the project that inspired this post is the only one so far that has locked up my entire machine (and done so consistently) and it just so happens to be the one I need to finalize this week. I have tried exporting from Premiere and from AME by bringing in the sequence, as well as mixing up different exporting settings and codecs with nothing making a difference. The same thing happens regardless of what I try. I'm out of ideas at this point.
Please, if you have any thoughts, share them. I'm open to most suggestions. However, depending on what they are, it might take me awhile to try some things as I am not an Admin on my machine.
One more note, I am running Ver 5.0 because 5.0.1 gave me other headaches. 5.0 (until now) had been working much smoother for me so I don't consider 5.0.1 to be a solution to my problem.Sounds like a job for "Trash Prefs Man"
http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/11/having_weird_behavior_with_an.html
The fact that you are finding CS5.00 to be better than CS5.01 says to me that there may be something going on with your system or your install rather than anything else.
Assuming you get the project done, I'd uninstall all of your Adobe apps, run the CS5 Clean Script a few times, do your normal Mac maintenance and then reinstall your Adobe and run all of the updates. I think then you'll find it to be a better experience. Oh, check to make sure you're running the latest nvidia driver for your Mac 4800 too.
I hope this helps,

Exporting h.264 with CS4 vs CS3
Maybe I'm just dumb and this is an easy question....I'm not sure, but here goes:
I had a project in Premiere Pro CS3, a music video. I'm used to exporting videos as quicktime with an h.264 codec for online streaming from CS3, and they always looked great. A lot of websites cap video uploads to 500MB or a gig, so it was a perfect way to get a high quality video on the net. The 3 minute music video I was working on became a great looking 450MB h.264 movie.
With CS4 and the adobe media encoder, things are a bit different. I export as a quicktime movie with the h.264 codec, at the same settings (100% quality) but it looks awful. The same music video was around 80MB and didn't look anywhere near the quality of same video exported from CS3. I've tried a number of options and presets, and havn't been able to get the same quality or size file.
I even checked both files in G-Spot codec reader (great tool) and they were the exact same AVC1-h.264 codec.
What is happening here? Is the codec somehow used differently in CS4 than in CS3? Is there something I'm not doing to get a high quality h.264 movie out of CS4?
Thanks,
PeterThe bitrate of your output movie depends on your Export Settings. At the bottom of the Preset list is "Edit Export Settings". There you can adjust all the settings just like CS3.

Still weird problems with CS4/My new computer
Here is situation. Machine works very well when I´m editing HD video but soon as I start edit multi-cam: PROBLEMS! And as I watch from monitor that materia that I been edited so far, it works well, but as soon as I try to change cameras, everything slows-down. Like there is too little memory or something. Could the problem be somewhere in that CS4 program? Because I watch same time those CPU/Memory values and they don´t go very hight. CPU about max. 40% and Memory max 4Gb. And basicly: Is thia computer powerfull enough for Creative Suite CS4
My graphics card is, ATI Radeon HD 4870. I have update my bios and Radeon should be 64bit with latest drivers.
I have ran PassMark Performance test again and again. 2D results are mysterious low and also disk results ( sequenta write/random seek).
Everydays I got bluescreens (Bad_Pool-Header, Bad-Pool_Caller etc.)
Also I´ve notised that in that computer shop they connect those Hard-drives in in SAT 3 and 4. Should they be connected in 1 & 2?
Also my "first" hard-drive (C:) shoud be very fast, 10 000rpm but in that performance test, and also in Windows hard-drive test results shows, that information does not move as fast as it should be?
Hard-drive is 300 GB ATA II VelociRaptor drive model FS WD3000HLFS
( http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2503 ). Is that hard-drive appropriate for Windows 7 or vise versa?
Or could that problem be in my memory chips?
In here I ad my DxDiag-file. I wonder why there said that in displey devices: Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (59Hz) ?? Should it be 645Bit be cause displaycard is 64bit ???

Sami MalmbergThanks for tips!
We may have to clear up the hole computer. I have quite a lot videomaterial in hard-drive D, waiting for edit. In C there are basic brograms, Corel X4 and some players. Nothing bigger. Still, before that, now that "normal" HD editing is working quite well, I wonder:
Are CPU about 40% and Memory 4Gb values normal when I´m editing with CS4?
Is my computer actual powerfull enough for Creative Suite CS4?
Why in Earth are those 2D values so lame?
Hard-drives are connected in SAT 3 and 4. Should they be connected in 1 & 2?
First hard-drive (C:) shoud be very fast, 10 000rpm but in that performance test, and also in Windows hard-drive test results shows, why?
Could problem be in my memory chips?
And:
In DxDiag-file, why there said that in display devices: Current Mode: 1920 x 1200 (32 bit) (59Hz) ?? Should it be 64Bit be cause displaycard is 64Bit??
So many questions and so many possibilities...
Thank you very much and sorry all my weird question but I´m about to explode becauise of this stupid machine!!! Arg!
Sometimes I think that it would be better live in stoneage...

Hello,
I have to export three tables out of my database with a query. I started the export with following command (on a Windows testing machine).
exp.exe userid=ccq/xxx@KDG file=C:\download\export\NEW.dmp tables= qem_message, qem_messagestatlog, qw_text query=””"where qem_message.messagebody > 739409 AND qem_message.pkey = qem_messagestatlog.pkey AND qem_message.messagebody = qw_text.qwkey" log=C:\download\export\NEW.log
I have got the following error:
. . Export of the table QEM_MESSAGE
EXP-00056: ORACLE-error 904 found
ORA-00904: Unknown columnname
I think the problem is the query statement. All the columns are written right. Is there an error in the statement or is it impossible to execute such statement in an export?Hi,
you have to use export one time at a time with query parameter
consider
SQL> host type d:\query.txt
query="where emp.deptno = dept.deptno
and emp.sal > 1000
or dept.deptno = 40"
SQL> host exp scott/tiger file=d:\tt.dmp tables=(EMP,DEPT) PARFILE=d:\query.txt

Problem Exporting / Importing print forms with program RSTXSCRP
Hi!
there is problem Exporting / Importing print forms with program RSTXSCRP.
when I transfer print form from one SAP system to other, logo image and some text is missing... what could be the reason?
Maybe there is other way to transfer print forms between SAP systems without using program RSTXSCRP?
Will reward,
MindaugasHi,
when you transfer print forms from one sap system to another, logos are not transfered automatically. these are actually .bmp files which need to be existing in every client. then only when you run your print program logo can be seen in your print output. hence logos need to be created explicitly in every client where you want to run your print program.
thanks,

Problems ripping postscript files with cs4/no bleed?
I have having a problem ripping high res files to postscript and distilling not showing the crop marks, bleeds or any printer marks. On the export these are checked properly. A normal pdf export from CS4 works fine, but when I rip to ps and distill the marks are gone. I appreciate any help.
robIs it possible you're just not printing to the right size page? What
page size is your ID document, and what page size is your PDF?
Why are you printing and distilling instead of just exporting PDF?
