Problem Exporting as Original Size Export

When I export a 3861 × 2574 raw file as an original size jpg, it exports to 1800x1200. If I open the file in Photoshop and save as a jpg, it saves as 3861x2574. If I export as a 50% jpg, it exports as a 1931x 1287 jpg.
How can I export a 3861x2574 jpg?
Thanks,
Michael

  • When I export photos from Aperture, the pixel dimensions are halved thus losing data.  I have set the export preferences to export at original size, to no avail.  This happens even if I just drag to the desktop and then back, or if I export into my iphoto

When I export photos from Aperture to desktop or iphoto I lose pixels.  The pixel dimensions are halved, despite setting the export preference to export at original size.  Anyone know why or how to correct this?

Dragging an Image from Aperture exports the Preview.  Preview parameters are set on the Previews tab of Aperture preferences.
Are you seeing the same results when you export using one of the export commands?
Is so, confirm that the settings in the selected Image Export Preset ("Aperture➞Presets➞Image Export") truly represent those in the Image Export Preset's name.

  • Original size Raw to JPG export not exporting correct size

I'm having a problem with the export of RAW to JPG at original size. I have raw images of 4941 × 3295 (125mb), when I export selecting "JPEG-origional" size I get resulting jpg's of 800 x 533 (95kb)
    If I select JPEG-50% of original size I get correctly exported images of 2471 × 1648 (589kb)
Why would the original size export not work?

Have you checked the "JPEG original size" preset? Select the preset on export, then switch to "Edit" and see, what is selected. Sometimes this preset is redefined to a smaller size.
When you edit the preset, the "Size To" pop-up should be set to "Original size". If it is not, set it back.

  • Problem exporting versions in original size

    hi!
with Aperture 3 when exporting versions in original size, I obtain 400xYYY pixels (images constrained to 400x400) showing impossibility to respect the original size.
attempting to solve the problem I have exported selecting limited wider sizes (like <4000x4000) to allow the program to keep the higher resolution. It doesn't work because then all images are forced to be exported in 4000x4000.
    anybody has the solution?
    thank you. david

    Welcome to the forum.
Go to Aperture>Presets>Image Export, select the export preset you are using and make sure that it's on 'original size' and not on 'fit within'.

  • Exporting photos at original size

How do I export photos and keep their original size. I do not have the Image Sizing checked but it seems to be resizing my photos anyway. It seems to have started this evening. I exported files fine at file sizes of ex: 5387 kb the original size. Not they are exporting at ex: 478 kb. Can't figure out what the problem is. I contacted Adobe and Tech Support is not in until Monday. Ugh

There are a number of different variables for saving a JPG, or a TIFF, which alter both the file size and (in the case of JPG) the specific picture quality which will survive the save.
Lightroom's JPG quality setting does not correspond exactly with what the JPG choices available (e.g.) inside the camera, were doing. The chances of exporting an identical filesize are remote, for JPG. And smaller is not necessarily worse in practice, since one has to consider the efficiency as well as the degree of information loss, of the differently packaged picture.
Also, editing changes made in Lightroom can affect the saved file size that you get when you Export.
If the image has been cropped smaller within LR - whether to a changed aspect ratio, for composition / subject reasons, as a byproduct of perspective adjustment etc, merely straighteniong a horizon, or some combination of those - then there is less picture extent being saved  - quite aside from the saving format.
Next, the fine detail present in the image affects the efficiency of compression. A "smooth" image area compresses a lot at a given quality setting (small file), while a "busy" image area compresses less at the same quality setting (big file). So changing contrast, sharpening, blurring with negative Clarity, adding a film-grain effect, vignetting, all kinds of changes to the seen picture may make a difference, because you are in effect... saving different picture content.

  • Exported video size smaller than original video size. How do I keep the original size?

I exporting a video from Adobe Premiere CS6 today, and I noticed the video was about 1/2 times smaller  than the original video I put in. I then uploaded the video on YouTube, and the size was still the same. I tried to change the preset to 1080p 29.97, 1080p 25, etc. and the same with 720p, and 480p, but the size only changed slightly.
How do I keep the original size after exportation of videos?

  • Export original size not original size

The native RAW resolution of my camera is 6016x4016. When I try to export jpegs as original size, they come out 1798x1200. If I export as TIFF, they come out full size (but 20x as large a file as jpeg.) If I export at 50%, they come out 50%. This is only happening on my iMac, not my MacBook Pro. How do I get aperture to let me export a full size jpeg again?

Open the Image Export Preset and make sure that the settings for the Image Export Preset that you are using match the description.
If that's not it, post back.

When exporting as aic cropping does not transfer the clips appear in the original size...how can I fix this??  Aic seems to be the best quality - least compressed - so I would prefer to use it rather than the other options.

And if you go to Develop, and make your filmstrip thumbnails a little taller to make sure all the badges are shown, does a missing indicator show up, there?   Can you Export from Develop?
If you click on the Photos that Failed to Export collection at the top right does the photo it highlight have a missing indicator?
If you do a test export with just one photo, to your internal drive, does it work?
I adjusted the height of the thumbnails. Still no exclamation points or question marks as noted here.
Also, as to your second question, unfortunately no as noted here.
And as to your last question, I have tried several times to export them to my desktop (which would be on my internal drive, not external). I've even gone so far as to put a copy folder of my original NEF files onto my desktop (7 gb worth) to see if that would help me export...it didn't.

Raws, even if not compressed, Sould be smaller than a 24-bit Tiff, since they have only one bitplane. My T3i shoots 14 bit 18MP raws and has a raw file size of 24.5 MB*. An uncompressed Tiff should have a size of 18 MP x 3 bytes per pixel or 54 MB.
*There must be some lossless compression going on since 18 MP times 1.75 bytes per pixel is 31.5MB for uncompressed raw.

Wild guess: you're using the the wrong export settings. You'll need to tell us more before we can help you - like the export settings you're usng, the size and format of the originals etc.

  • Problems with videos when I export

    Hi,
I have some problems with my videos when I export them. I edit my video, but I have problems with audio in the exported video. Either the audio is missing completely or I hear the audio from another videoframe. I thought that the transitions are the problem, but they're not. Sometimes I have the problem also when I watch the video in iMovie. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Alek,
Does this issue happen with more than one project in iMovie or is it just one?
If the audio is out of sync or missing and it is confined to only one project, the most I can suggest is that you restore from a backup copy as that suggests the project file is corrupted.
If the issue is happening in multiple projects do a test to make sure iMovie is working correctly:
Capture 5-10 minutes worth of iSight footage.
Edit the movie adding a few titles and transitions.
    Export to quicktime.
    Is the audio correct here?
If the audio is fine that means that iMovie is fine. Something is wrong with the projects or the original footage. You could try taking the Event you are working with, adding it to a new project, and then without editing it, export the entire project out as Quicktime. Then import the resulting file as a new event. The process of exporting (encoding) and then re-importing might clean up minor corruption within the file.
    Hope that helps

  • Exporting in original format

Does anyone know how to export multiple images from Aperture in their original size and format (for simple backing up, say)? Dragging to the DT worked in iPhoto, but Aperture seems to insist on converting images to JPEG previews if you do this. If you choose Export, you have to select a format for all the exported images, which I don't want to do - I want to leave them as they are. The option "Leave unchanged" isn't there.
Apologies if this has been covered before, but I'm new to Aperture.

Using Export, I can't find any way to preserve the original file format - you have to select a single format for all the images you're exporting. I have a mixture of jpgs, tiffs, psds and RAW, and I don't want to have to change them all to the same format.
What method do you use for backing up? I do back up the Aperture Library too, but mine is enormous, and its structure would be a nightmare to untangle if you should need to retrieve particular images in an emergency. A simply drag-and-burn backup would be much easier.

  • Help needed exporting large image sizes

    Hi All,
I'm a newbie so forgive my lack of understanding here when it comes to exporting to large file sizes. In short I'm trying to export some images for large format printing but am having trouble preparing the right size in LR4.
Specifically I'm trying to produce w 30" x h 20" images. I understand that to do this I'll need a image that is 9000 x 6000 pixels set at 300 ppi. My problem is that when I export this, with the dimensions set to width and height in pixels and resize unchecked LR4 produces an image that is 9000 x 4887?
Would appreciate any thoughts on what i'm doing wrong here? Is it simply that the aspect ratio of image is wrong to produce this size image? My concern is not producing an exact file size for printing.
    Thanks!
    Tom

I've sorted the crop ration for a 3:2 image but resulting in a much smaller image.
Could you give me the details? How much smaller? What size is it? What else did you change other than the aspect ratio?
I then then tried a 16:9 ratio which is much better
Details please? What is better? (And why try this if you need 3:2??)
seem to have run into a similar prob in that calculations say for a 40 x 20 I'll need 6,000 x 12,000 but lr4 will only ouutput 6,000 by 10,667.
You are repeating your initial mistake. Images cropped to 16:9 aspect ratio cannot export to a 3:2 aspect ratio. Only images cropped to a 3:2 aspect ratio will export to a 3:2 aspect ratio.

  • Crop, Size, & Export?

How do you crop an image to 5x7 and export a new file that is 5x7 at 300 dpi?
I used the crop tool to crop an image to 5x7 and made my adjustments. Then I went to Export, and I made a nex export setting for a Jpeg, Original size, at 300 dpi. Then I exported. When I open the file in Photoshop, it is 300 dpi, but it is not 5x7 in size. How can I do this?
    Kevin Hawkins

Here is how you do it:
    1) Crop your image as usual in Aperture to 5x7 proportions
    2) Start the export process (File>Export>Export Version)
    3) At the bottom of the dialog box, click on the "Export Preset" menu, then pull down to "Edit"
    4) Click the "+" sign at the bottom left corner
    5) If you want to export a vertical JPG, name the new preset something like "Vertical JPEG 5x7 @ 300ppi"
    6) In the right side column, select "JPEG" as the image format and choose the quality as well.
    7) Click on the "Size To" menu, then pull down to "Fit Within (inches)"
    8) Insert the width, height and dpi
    9) Choose a profile
    10) Click OK
    11) Select where to save the file, then press "Export Versions" button
Now, you have this preset available for vertical 5x7's @ 300ppi whenever you export images.
    Hope this helps!

  • Exporting reducing file sizes

Im using a version of aperture 2 at the moment and i have noticed that when i export my jpegs at original size they are only coming out half the size into my destination folder - i shoot in HQ jpeg, original size straight out of camera is 5-6mb. When i import them into aperture they still show as 5-6mb in the metadata. Then when i export them - always at original size I have checked and checked this - they are reducing to 2-3 mb in the destination folder. In photoshop these smaller files are measuring approx 4000x3000 pixels and when i then save them as high res jpegs out of PS they are jumping back up to the initial 5-6mb. I am confused. Dont want to be doing any more destruction than i need to.

Check your export settings. When you see "JPEG - Original Size" as the export preset, that is just the title of the preset. Choose edit and see what the actual settings are for "JPEG - Original Size"
And I'm looking at Aperture 3 when I say that. Can't remember if it's the same with 2.
