Problem exporting booklet with tab dividers to pdf

Hi, I have an Indesign document that has different page sizes (because some pages have tab dividers). I need to export it to pdf as a booklet, however I've found some problems:
- When I choose the "Spreads" option, the page 2 is facing the page 3 but I need the document as a booklet, so the page 2 sould be facing the one that is before the last page).
- When I choose the "pages" option and then select the "booklet" option in Acrobat Pro, for some reason there's a big space between the 2 pages (the size of each page is like 1/4 of a letter size page). I mean, the 2 pages are not
- As I said before, some pages have tab dividers so, when I'll print it, I have to cut the tabs that are not usefull in each page. However the document is a booklet, so I need that the page behind the one I'm cutting has it's information adjusted so I don't lose some of the data.
I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

For professionell printers ist is not a problem. If you wnat to give it away for printing, don't impose it yourself. Deliver the pdf with single pages and bleed and communicate with the printer. Imposing is their job.
I would not use the booklet funktion inside InDesign.
For your case, when you need to print it on a Laser Printer, I would use the print booklet function in Acrobat Pro.
Problem is here for you, that the pages have different sizes. If you have no plans to give it to a printer make all pages to the same size and cut it later. If you need both, create an alternative Layout with same sized pages and us the second one for Laser Printing.

  • Problem exporting file with spot colors to pdf

    I have a book which I designed in InDesign CS3. It has 150 images in it which are Photoshop eps files: black line drawings with a spot color fill. InCS3, when I needed to send files back and forth to the publisher, the eps files came out fine in any pdf I made. Now in CS5.5, no matter what I do, only the spot color shows up in the images -- their black outlines won't show up. I'm sure it's got something to do with settings of some kind but I can't figure it out for the life of me. Help!

    I'm viewing the pdf in Acrobat Pro X. I do see that if I turn Flattener Preview on, I can see the whole image in a separate preview box, but that's not going to work very well when I send it to an editor who is technologically challenged. Is there not a way to ake the pdf behave the way it does if I make it from CS3, where the flattening shows in the pdf by default? As it is, this seems like a step backwards, unless of course, there's something I am missing.

  • Problem Exporting slideshow with soundtrack in LR3.

    I am trying to export a slideshow for a homework assignment. When exporting video with "pictures only" it exports just fine. When I add a soundtrack I receive:
    “Log (6)
    Assertion Failed: Seld->aenc
    AVC video encorder…
    infor: version 8.0.0.47059
    Info: Platform: Windows 64bit
    mc_enc_avc.001)
    extendedoption: Media_time_offest : 0.000000-> 1000.000000”
    I have exported a slideshow with music before and never had problems with it. What can I do to fix the problem?
    I use a pc windows 7

    After much research, I discovered that iTunes can create a compatible .m4a file
    in iTunes,  highlight the Voice Memo you want to convert, then select Advanced...Create AAC Version.
    This will convert the file and create a .m4a file of the same name.
    Unfortunately, it is not in the same directory, and iTunes gives no feedback as to where it is.
    Nor does it list it in the VoiceMemo playlist in iTunes.
    I found it in iTunes\Music\Music\My iPod\Voice Memos\
    My sincere thanks to Dan Tull of Adobe for giving me the clues I needed to sort this out.
    He has also flagged a bug report so hopefully future versions of LR will handle this situation more gracefully.

  • Problem exporting workbooks with Admin

    Hi,
    I'm using Discoverer Administrator 10.1.2.48.18
    I have no problem exporting an entire EUL, it takes about 5 minutes, same with specific Business Areas. But, when I select a few workbooks, the export never ends; I have to cancel it after more than 40 minutes.
    This is a feature I would use quite often, but it doesn't seem to be working well. I have to transfert those workbooks with Desktop one by one...when there's a few, I don't mind, but I now have a request for over 100 of them.
    Would also be great to be able to backup our workbooks collection (more than 5,500).
    Thanks.

    Hi
    A couple of thoughts come to mind. Firstly, you are on the base, buggy version of Discoverer. You need to upgrade to 10.1.2.2. or 10.1.2.3 and then apply the latest cumultaive patch. The upgrade is free so you should do it.
    Secondly, 5,500 workbooks is a lot of workbooks and to me it sounds like you need to do some sort of cleanup.
    Now to your issue. You say that a full export takes 5 minutes yet selecting a few workbooks takes a long time. This is most strange.
    I'm not saying this is definitely the cause but you might want to try upgrading your Admin machine to 10.1.2.2 or 10.1.2.3. While from a versioing perspective you may not want to have Admin running a higher version for a long time I am told by Oracle that it won't cause any real issues to have Admin upgraded and the Application Server still on 10.1.2.0.2. Try installing Admin on a different machine then upgrading it and see if the export works. You'll then still have your original, just in case. Please also make sure that the machine has a minimumof 2 GB RAM as you will need that for a Discoverer Administrator machine to run well.
    Best wishes

  • PROBLEM EXPORTING BOOKLET PDF

    Hi, I have installed ID CS 3 in my MacBook, and in my PC. I have no problem to export a booklet PDF for my printer in my PC(2-up Saddle Stich): Print settings/Printer: PDF, etc.
    But in my Mac I can't, I have Acrobat Professional (+ Distiller) but I don't see the PDF printer...
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance!
    Tito

    I did Buko, but the problem is still there!
    Thanks anyway!

  • Problem printing booklet to Postscript file to PDF (Mac)

    I am running Mac OSX 10.7.5 and InDesign CC 9.2.1
    I am trying to export a booklet to a PDF so I can send it to another machine to print.  I am going to File> Print Booklet and I am printing to a PostScript file. I am then opening it up in Preview and the orientation of the file is messed up.  Below are some screenshots.
    So in File>Print Booklet> Preview it shows that I am perfectly inside the guidelines.  Notice it is in landscape mode.
    Then I export it to a .ps file and open it up in Preview (note: I have also tried Acrobat IX Pro). And the file is messed up and in portrait mode.
    From what I can tell it looks like InDesign is exporting the file in portrait instead of landscape but I can't change it in the InDesign Print Booklet settings because it is greyed out.
    Any recommendations on how to fix this problem? Or workarounds so that I can export a booklet to a PDF?  I need to export it in 2-up saddle stitch mode, so I need page 1 to be next to page 12 and so on.
    Thank you for the help!

    You need to download and install the ADPDF9.PPD printer description and use it instead of Device Independent.

  • Problems exporting slideshow with music from iPhoto 5 to iDVD

    I made a slideshow on iPhoto, and selected one Playlist with 4 tracks as backgroundmusic. When I ¨play¨the slideshow in ¨iPhoto¨ I can listen the music ( all 4 tracks), but when I ¨export¨ the slideshow or ¨send to iDVD¨, the final Quicktime movie contains all the fotos but only the first track of the Playlist.
    I use Quicktime 7.1.3, iPhoto 5.0.4 and iTunes 7.0.2
    Can somebody help me to find a solution...:)...? thanks...
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    this was a known problem with iPhoto 5. do you have the latest update to iPhoto 5?
    Only one song exporting with Slideshows
    With iPhoto 5 this seems to be a know problem/bug. There have been some work-arounds. Don't know if the problem is with iPhoto, Quicktime or a combo of both.
    -From Bob Worthington: re-ripping the cuts I wanted as background music for the DVD as a single cut in iTunes. I then made a playlist containing the one extended cut of music.
    -Old Toad: share to Quicktime from iPhoto and then import the resulting movie into iMovie you can extract and delete the audio from the video and add the two songs to the video and save.
    Quicktime Pro-open the movie and bring up the Movie Properties menu window. In the top window select the audio track and delete it.
    If you want more than one song you'll have to join them together with iMovie or some other application. Then open that joined file with QT Player. Then do a select all and copy. Now go to the QT window of the movie and select the Edit->Add to Movie menu option. You don't want to scale it because it will change the play speed of the audio unless it's time is exactly the same as the movie.
    You could go the other way, open the movie, select all and copy, and then past with scaling to the audio. That will change the speed of the movie and transitions to fit the audio track. In this case the resulting video file will have the name of the audio track file that you started with.
    You may have to play with it a bit to get exactly what you want. Be sure to work with copies of all the media files for the project.
    -Peter Burtwistle: I opened the Qt movie that iPhoto makes when you export to iDVD and removed the sound track.
    Then made a new soundtrack by opening all three songs in QT, then cutting and pasting them together.
    Finally use QT Pro's 'Add to Movie" option to add the soundtrack to the original movie.
    This worked well and was fast to do too.
    -Joe Lombardo: I ended up having to extend the songs by 20 seconds so I brought them all into GarageBand and made some edits. Then I exported them all to iTunes as a single track and used that for the slideshow
    From scotty321 at MacOSXHints.com: If you have Roxio Toast Titanium installed on your machine, you can join unprotected tracks yourself by simulating a disc burn. Simply take these steps:
    Go to the Audio tab in Toast.
    Drag your audio files from iTunes into Toast.
    Reshuffle them in the proper order within Toast.
    Go up to File: Save As Disc Image. Save your disc image somewhere on your Desktop.
    Choose Utilities: Mount Disc Image. The CD will mount on your desktop, and iTunes will think that you just inserted a CD.
    Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
    Go through the import process, and you've got a joined track! Simply rename the track to whatever you want to call it, and you're good to go.
    From Lori...
    Burn the playlist in iTunes.
    Make sure you have itunes Prefs just open the Cd and not automatically play or import the songs.
    Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
    Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
    Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
    When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
    Put the new combined track into the playlist.
    In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.

  • Problem: Word document with Thai font to PDF

    I have a MS Office 2007 Word document (.doc) that contains both English and Thai language. I need to convert this document to PDF with Acrobat 9 Pro. However, after going through the conversion process from the ribbon within MS Word, all of the Thai language in the Word document becomes garbled nonsense in the Acrobat PDF file.
    1. How can I successfully create a PDF file from a Word file that includes Thai language?
    2. If I have a PDF file that contains Thai language, how can I convert it to a MS Word file?
    Hope someone can help. I'm sure the answer must be quite easy, but I cannot find it anywhere.
    I forgot to mention that this is all running on Windows Vista / Pentium 4D 3.0 GHz / 2Gb RAM.

    3 days has passed and no answers, it's either unclear what i'm asking or it's a comlicated issue.

  • Cs 6 Having problems exporting buttons with rollover to dreamweaver

    Im trying to export out of fireworks cs6 buttons with rollover and import into dreamweaver cs6. It looks good in dreamweaver until i view it in internet explorer here is what it comes out like.

    When you created animated buttons in Fireworks and exported/imported them into Dreamweaver CS3, CS5 all worked well.
    This is because CS3 and CS5 automatically added the required preload JavaScript to the hed tag of the document.
    In CS6, this is not happening!
    That is the major reason that your buttons do not work if you are used to doing it the way that we have for years.
    As a test, I added the Head tag code that the old versions of CS generated in Dreamweaver and immediately my buttons worked.
    It must be a program error in CS6 and I wonder if Adobe will be producing a fix for this?
    The Head code is below:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0
      var d=document; if(d.images){ if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array();

    Using HTML exported from a graphics application in your pages is a very VERY bad idea.  You see the result.  The best approach is to create your graphics in FW, and use DW to build the HTML, not FW.  The HTML function in FW is only useful as a way to quickly build a PROTOTYPE page for demonstration purposes, it's not suitable for use on a real web page.
    Show us your code and we can fix this for you.  Alternatively (and better), just use DW to apply your rollover to this image.

  • UI Problem: Selectable Dialogs with Tab & IListBoxController

    Hi,
    I'm trying to implement a configuration dialog with some tabs like the BasicSelectableDialog example from the sdk. I'm pretty sure I did all the relevant steps like defining LocaleIndex, IDList, IDListPair, Bosses etc. as well as the creator implementations. However when trying to pop up the dialog I get this error message:
    "Cannot find IListBoxController on this selectable dialog. Is it a dropdown selectable dialog?"
    In the ActionComponent I've implemented this:
    if (dialogSwitcher == nil)
    ASSERT_FAIL("BscSlDlgActionComponent::DoBasicSelectableDialog:DialogSwitcher invalid");
    break;
    } //ASSERT does not fail, I get the dialogswitcher
    //still ok
    dialogSwitcher->SetDialogServiceID(kConfigDialogTabService);
    // this produces the error stated above:
    dialogSwitcher->SwitchDialogPanelByID(kProjectTabWidgetID);
    As a matter of fact, I don't know what Indesign wants to tell me with this, Listboxcontroller? Why would I want something like that on my dialog? ; ) Ok seriously, I guess I'm missing _some_ list definitions/declaration, propably of what should be in the panel, but the IDList is(are) defined in the fr file, so what else is missing?
    Below some snippets from my code, the resource defs for the dialogs are missing but they are just the same as in the sdk example.
    //Dialog holding the tabs
    type ConfigDialog(kViewRsrcType) : DialogBoss(ClassID = kALConfigDialogBoss)
    //a tab (other tabs are just the same, so I'm leaving them out
    type ProjectTabWidget(kViewRsrcType) : PrimaryResourcePanelWidget(ClassID = kALProjectTabBoss)
    //tab list
    resource IDList (kConfigDialogTabOrderingResourceID)
    kALProjectTabBoss, //correspondingWidgetID is kProjectTabWidgetID
    kALOtherTabBoss,
    kALAnotherTabBoss,
    resource IDList (kProjectTabCreatorResourceID)
    kConfigDialogTabService,
    resource IDListPair (kProjectTabCreatorResourceID)
    kConfigDialogTabService, kProjectTabResourceID, kALPluginID,
    resource LocaleIndex (kProjectTabResourceID)
    kViewRsrcType,
    kWildFS, k_Wild, kProjectTabResourceID
    //and the class defs, they CreatorImpl's were adapted from the sdk example
    Class
    kALConfigDialogBoss,
    kTabSelectableDialogBoss,
    IID_IDIALOGCREATOR, kConfigDialogTabCreatorImpl,
    IID_IOBSERVER, kConfigDialogTabObserverImpl,
    Class
    kALProjectTabBoss,
    kPrimaryResourcePanelWidgetBoss,
    IID_IPANELCREATOR, kProjectTabCreatorImpl,
    IID_IK2SERVICEPROVIDER, kDialogPanelServiceImpl,
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, I know I can allways try to repeat the process of importing/adapting from the example until it works, but I really wan't to understand this and not just copy some code ; )
    Thanks,
    Marc

    Solved, and ist really a "doh!": when defining the
    NativeTabsWidget for the parent dialog holding the tabs I defined my own WidgetID for it instead of using SDK defined "kSelectDialogSelectionWidgetID" as ID. Don't ever do this ; )

  • Problems with the "Create a PDF" tab

    I have a customer who is trying to create a pdf from Word using the "create a pdf" tab.  The PDF is created but only the colored boxes behind his text show up.  He is running Win7, Word 2010 and Acrobat Pro XI (with the latest update). The same thing happens if he uses the "print to pdf" option.  The Word "Save as pdf" works fine.
    Word Document (image below)
    PDF (image below)

    It appears to be some sort of incorrect layering issue. You can fix the problem by selecting the Edit Text & Images command in Acrobat XI and right clicking on the boxes and selecting the Arrange command.
    I've seen this issue occur with older .doc files opened in newer versions of Word. One thing you might try is to save out the word file to another format like RTF (make a backup first) and then resave a .docx before creating the PDF.

  • PDF Export problems when viewing with Preview 4.2

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm an Indesign novice for sure, so this may be fairly basic to a lot of you, but I'm having problems with a document of mine. I've built my portfolio in indesign using PNG images from my book. In Indesign I've applied the gradient feather to each image to give it a reflection. When I export the book with no compression, it's too large, so I've tried regular JPEG compression (at maximum) and JPEG 2000 compression at lossless and I get better file sizes, however when I view the PDF in preview there's 2 problems:
    1. The images look like crap no matter what with any compression applied. Very blurry, pixelated... generally looks like crap. In Acrobat, everything looks sharp and beautiful.
    2. The reflections don't exist at all. There's just an upside down version of the image there with no transparency whatsoever.
    I need it to look good in both programs because it's impossible for me to control who's viewing my book in what program. It's so odd because a year ago when I built my portfolio in keynote, it looked beautiful in preview, but like crap in Acrobat.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    I can understand the gradient feather not appearing properly, and I can build the reflections into the original PNG if I must, but any idea why the images look so bad? They look fuzzy, and far from sharp with ANY any compression. The only way an exported PDF looks ok in preview is if I export it with no compression at all. Yet when looked at in reader, they look sharp (even with compression).
