Problem exporting image -- "Hostname Error"

Hello all --
I've booted a client from an external drive, and, using System Image Utility, created an install image of the internal drive.
Now, I'm trying to export the image to my XServe. When the target dialogue comes up, I enter:
Address: 172.28.40.10
User Name: admin
pw: *****
After a few seconds, SIU tells me:
"Hostname error. No address associated with hostname."
I'm assuming that my XServe's DNS is not configured properly. Does this sound right? Any idea what's going on, and how I might get the Export to work?
Thanks --
Matt

  • Problems exporting images from iPhoto

    Hi all,
I have iphoto (ver. 6.0.6) on a MacBook running OSX 10.4.11. I have a WD external hard drive connected to an airport base station and due to a lack of space on my MacBook HDD, recently moved my iphoto library to the external hard drive. Since then I've had a few problems with the database becoming corrupted (probably my fault) and have rebuilt it a few times now. I've read a few posts explaining that image files should only be edited in iphoto and so I'm sticking to that now.
The new problem that I have is in exporting images to a folder, say on the desktop for example. I want to upload some images to a website to have them printed off. Previously, when my photos were on my MacBook HDD, I created a folder on the desktop, highlighted the images I wanted and dragged them to the folder, then uploaded them to the website from the desktop folder- job done. Now, however, when I try to either drag them to the destop folder or export them, some of the files are 'converted' to Unix Executable files while the others are in their original jpeg format. I've tried exporting them and selecting the jpeg option instead of the original default option but no luck. Can anyone suggest where the problem might lie or what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Two problems with your set up.
    1. You getting a corrupted Library because iPhoto does not sit well with a wireless connection to the Library. If iPhoto is interrupted while writing to the database, then it becomes corrupted. Dropouts are a fact of life in Wireless networking. As long as you have this wireless connection you will have a significant risk of a damaged Library file.
    2. My guess is that the External Disk is formatted for Windows (a FAT format). This exe issue arises when jpegs are stored on a FAT formatted disk. You need to reformat the disk for Mac OS X Extended.

  • Problem exporting image sequence

    Hello,
Somehow the rendering of my fileout node fales.
I want to export my composition as an image sequence (tiff). When I render the fileout node, the flipbook is working, but the exported images contain only the foreground image of my composition and the background image is missing.
    What do I do wrong?
I just connected a foreground image sequence to a background image, using the over node. Then I attached the fileout to the over node.
Maybe it has something to do with the imagename of the fileout?
    Thanks for any advice,

  • I have a problem exporting images

The following error message comes up and for the life of me I can't fix it:
"Unable to export 'Win32 API error ("The system cannot find the file specified") when calling ShellExecuteExW from AgWorkspace.shellExecute"
Can some one please help me?
Also, should I uninstall and reinstall the programme.

    No, do not uninstall.
    Try this instead:
In the Export dialog right down at the bottom is a heading called "Post processing".
Underneath it is a drop-down menu next to a prompt called "After export:"
    Select "Do nothing".
This error appears to occur the first time one tries to export and NOTHING is selected as an option here.
BTW if any of the other options are relevent to your situation select them instead!
    This should fix the problem.

  • Problem exporting image to specific file size

I've had some professional images shot and I can see from the file size in Aperture that they range from 13 - 73 mb. I need to submit them as 72dpi and 300dpi files and they must be between 1 & 3 mb in size.
I'm having no problems in exporting them at the correct dpi but the file sizes come out between 451kb and 1.8kb: 3 of the 6 images are too small, ie under 1mb.
What I'm doing is 'export version', then choosing the preset option of 'jpeg original size', editing it to the dpi I want, setting the image quality at a max of 12.
How can I get these file sizes to be bigger?
Thanks, and please help me quickly because I've a submission deadline approaching!

Well that's interesting Ernie. I did as you said, but also exported an image while I had the settings at 4288 x 4288 pixels. The resultant file size at that setting is 1.4MB. The file size when I went back to 'original size' is 795KB, exactly the same as before.
So I thought - if I can go above original size in that way, then can I alter the % to be over 100? I tried at 150%, which it accepted, and I've now got a file size of 1.3MB.
So I guess I've got what I wanted - not that I really understand it, because 'original size' clearly isn't original size at all!
Sorry Leonie - I didn't answer your question - they haven't given me a specification for pixel size as in 4288 x 4288: only 300 & 72dpi, a file size of 1-3MB, and a they must be JPGs.
And thanks for your help Frank - I've tried starting out with JPGs and with TIFFs as the photographer supplied me with both. I'd cropped some of the images but not others. I appreciate you offer of having a go with my images, but I think that - as I can go to over 100% - I've got it sorted now! Just hope there's no deterioration in image quality.
    Many thanks everyone!

  • Problem exporting images to a memory card

    Greetings,
I am attempting to export approximately 1500 photos from an album in IPhoto 08 and put them onto a SD memory card to be used in a digital frame. I have exported the photos from IPhoto and placed them into a folder on my desktop. The folder size is 966 MB according to the “Get Info” command. When I attempt to copy the images from the folder on the desktop to the memory card, a few of the images will transfer over, then I get the following command: “The item _____ cannot be copied because there is not enough free space.” I tried to copy all of the images at once, and when that didn’t work, I tried to copy in smaller batches. I have tried this numerous times and the following (using a 2GB card) is my most recent result: by copying 10-20 images at a time, I was able to copy a total of 162 pictures before I could no longer transfer any images. I have tried and I cannot add another single image to the card, yet when I use the “Get Info” command it tells me that 146.3 MB have been used on the card and 1.73 GB (of a total of 1.87 GB) are available. I have tried this with 1 GB, 2GB as well as 4GB cards.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could it possibly have anything to do with the format of the card? Is it an issue of using a SDHC card? If so, which card should I use? Please help. I’m hoping to give the digital frames (with images) to family for Xmas.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Andy

    Andy
It has everything to do with the Format of the card.
These cards are formatted FAT16 or FAT 32, and these older Windows formats have a limit to the number of objects they can have on the root directory of the volume. So, don’t copy the images from the folder on your desktop, just drag the folder to the card...

  • Problem exporting images

Whenever I export jpegs or pngs from ID, the colors in the exported file are different than in the ID document. Any ideas?

Use the Links panel to examine the color space of the graphics in your InDesign file. Then open up the JPEG or PNG in Photoshop. I'd better you're converting CMYK images to RGB.

  • Error exporting images from Lightroom

I have LR v1.3.1, for Windows on Dell PC with Intel Core 2 2.4Ghz, 2GB RAM.
I am having problems exporting images I did some minor editing on in LR. Editing included cropping to 8x10 aspect ratio, some tone adjustments, and a few red eye reduction. I then attempted to export 112 images as JPG and I received an error that 77 failed to export. I attempted to re-export those 77 and they all failed. Then I attempted to export 51 different images and 38 failed to export. There is no explanation of what the error is. LR help doesn't shed any light on this. The Adobe knowledgebase doesn't have any similar errors.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I am having the same problem with a Dell PC, Windows Vista, Intel Duo Core 2.4 and 4GB RAM. I am using LR v 1.3.1 as well. I tried to export 156 images to a SD card in a reader, and only 127 exported. There is no explanation why the others did not export, so I don't know how to fix it.
    Please help!

  • Exporting Images and Clipping Paths

I ran into a problem exporting images the was previously reported by Ruvan Fernando on Jan 25, 2006, but nobody had responded, so I'm trying again...
I'm using the SDK to open images and then save them back out with different colorspaces, resolution, etc. When I have an image that has a clipping path in it, when it's saved, the clipping path is missing.
I am copying all the source image attributes to the destination image attributes.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I tried dragging it, and it gave the original version.
At Share there are; Print, Email, Desktop, HomePage, .Mac Slides, Order prints, Send to iDVD, Burn Disk, Export
I tried Desktop and it put the current image do my wallpaper.

  • I use Adobe lightroom to export images to Facebook - I am now getting error message related to this process address not understood- how to correct?

I am using Win & Home edition / Mozilla Firefox on my HP laptop. On Oct 8 I used Lightroom to export images to Facebook. Now when I try to repeat this, authentication fails as The address wasn't understood
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (lightroom) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.
The export process was working, but isn't now. I have ben having problems with Firefox - I wasn't able to retain the settings for opening with my own Homepage (kept going back to Firefox default. So I have done a reset. Seems that this has somehow disrupted the authentication process. Can you help please.

I just dropped into the forums to see if other people were getting the DVD burning verification error (Error code 0x80020063). I've been holding off on the Tiger to Leopard upgrade until very recently. All of my must-have apps were anecdotally stable and I was under the impression that 10.5 was too. Apparently reliable DVD burning is Tiger only, at least on my systems.
We've been burning Taiyo Yuden DVD's almost daily with Tiger with incredibly low failure rates. After what seemed to be a smooth upgrade of a Mac Pro tower & 2 MacBook Pro laptops (one is a Core Duo and the other is a Core 2 Duo) I've spent the entire afternoon troubleshooting until I ended up here. Some searching on the board leads me to conclude that this will be a bigger headache than I imagined.
I've done all the obvious stuff (varied the burn speed, moved the files to a different drive, reset PRAM & SMC, used a different account, deleted finder.plist, tried repairing the system with DU on the Leopard install disc and then I tried burning on different computers with different media). What I'm finding is that over 50% of my DVD's are throwing the error code during verification across 3 different models all running Leopard 10.5.2. CD burning seems to work as before (but we don't use this as much so ?). I saw that some people had posted that closing the finder window helped, but that didn't improve my overall failure rate. The DVD's appear (indentical byte size and item numbers) to be burned correctly and usable, but I need to be sure so I can't trust them.
We need reliable DVD burning for our business and this is a real problem. I was going to trudge over to the Apple store, but it doesn't sound like there's a real fix yet.

  • Colour Profiles on exported images causing major problems

I've been exporting keynote slides as png's to use in video presentations. The problem is that the png's are saved with colour profiles, which means if I export the images from diferent macs, or even the same mac but with a different monitor attached (therefore a diferent monitor colour profile active), the images have very noticeable colour variations.
This is a major problem. I exported 1,000 slide transitions to import into Adobe Premiere, then about 500 slide updates that when imported, were in some cases darker or lighter even though I was using the same keynote and original images. I had to create a batch job in Photoshop to open, ignore the stored profile and save the images using a new default colour profile to try and get all the images consistent.
There needs to be an option in either the Keynote preferences or export options to save exported images without colour profiles.

There needs to be an option in either the Keynote preferences or export options to save exported images without colour profiles.
No, there needs to be documentation on the ICC architecture and how ICC profiles are applied. Stripping out embedded ICC profiles will colour manage the objects (images) in the system, but when the images pass outside the system they will not be colour managed any more. In this scenario, either they will have to be rendered as deviceColor by the numbers, without a definition of the colours their colourants should form, or a source ICC profile will have to be assigned by the following system/application.

I could be considered an unconditional bug in Keynote if it embedded the current monitor profile and not the system RGB colour working space profile (: Generic RGB Profile). If indeed Keynote embeds the current monitor profile, it could be considered an unconditional bug in your understanding if you start by stripping the source profiles. You should be doing a profile to profile conversion in order to get into the RGB colour working space you want in Photoshop.
Sorry, but it helps to have a basic understanding of media independent colour matching (even if the developers don't sometimes -:)).

  • Workflow problems: Import selection, 9 keywords in list?, Exporting image attributes...

I have a few problems incorporating Lightroom into my work flow.
    Is there a way to:
Select recursive directories when importing photos from disk without
a copy. Currently, I can only choose files directory(folder) by
    directory.
Get more than 9 keywords in a shortcut list.
Add photos from a previously accessed CF card to a catalog in a short
    time.
Currently it takes about the same time as loading a card from scratch.
Export image attributes to text file
    (filename followed by keywords, rating...)
Basic principles of my work flow:
    1. Flash card is used until contents roughly matches the archive media
    size.
This means a 1GB card fills to 700MB after deleting rejects, and
a 4GB card will easily fit on a DVD.
    2. Photos on card are categorized and rated/rejected/deleted one or more
more times while the card is being filled. This results in:
-Copies of retained images to the categorized directory structure on the
    computer.
-Rejects deleted from card, and not appearing on the computer
-Category, and rating information for each image in an easily parsed
    list.
    3. Post processing is done and printing is done on highest rated images
    in each category.
    For example:
Day 1: start with a blank 4GB CF card, and shoot 1.5GB for customers A and
    B.
    Customer A has 8 subjects a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h; Customer B has 12
    subjects
a,g,i,j,k,l,m,n,o,p,q,r. Note that some names for customers A and B
are the same. That night, I delete rejects off the card down to
    800MB,
and copy the saved images to the directory structure corresponding
to each customer on the computer. Then a list is printed out to show
an image+rating list for each subject. Notes are made for each
    "weak"
subject, so I know who to focus on in the next day of shooting.
Note I may have needed to do some minor post processing to determine
    rejects and rating.
    Day 2: I shoot 9 subjects for customer A: a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h,s, and 12
subjects for customer C: j,m,q,t,u,v,w,x,y,z,aa,bb. Similar culling,
sorting, and copying is done to Day 1.
Day N: CF card is full, so contents is written to a DVD, then card is
    erased.
Day M: Sufficient counts of good images are obtained for Customer A, so
Final post processing is done, and prints are made.
My initial experimenting with Lightroom shows it has potential to streamline
the above work flow, but a few key hurdles have kept me from implementing
it. I have made some assumptions about the tool in the following description,
so the best help for me would first to point out what assumptions are incorrect
It looks like "import from device..." only allows a copy from the CF card.
A copy would mean once images were rejected in the catalog, it would be
out of sync. with the CF card. So "import photos from disk..." looks
to be the only way to accomplish principle 1 above. *[minor problem a]* I saw
no way to import the information from the CF cart recursively in this
mode. I had to choose the files in groups one directory (folder) at
a time. When I imported from device, I could grab the whole CF card,
even though it did a copy. Note another reason I can't copy the CF card
to the catalog is that the reject/delete operation would not free-up any
CF card space for the next shoot.
Rejecting, rating, and categorizing (with keywords) worked easily with
Lightroom, but *[minor problem b]* it appears the keyword shortcut list is
limited to 9 entries. Given customers can have more than 9 subjects,
it would be useful if this could be expanded, even if I implement some sort
of keyword hierarchy. I suspect the camera will complain about a bad file
format if I change any of the files on the CF card, but it looks like
the sidecar files on the computer disk allows me to "modify" images so
I can get a correct rating without actu
