Problem Exporting PDF Acrobat 8

I am using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional ver 8.3.1.
I have a graphic in pdf form. I woudl liek to expost the PDF to a TIFF file.
When I try to do this, I receive an error that Acrobat could not save the page in the format requestd, may be due to insufficient disk space.
This is the 1st time I have received this error. I have loads of disk space.
I rebooted and tried again; same results

If you can open the PDF, there is an outside chance you could print it to a new PDF or use PreFlight to clean it up. Then you might be able to do as you want to save as a graphic.

  • Problems exporting PDF in CS5, text missing, images not transparent....

    I am using InDesign CS5 v7.04 on a Mac running 10.8.1.
(This exact problem has happened to me in previous versions of ID as well though?)
When I export a document to PDF and view in Preview OR place into another ID document, every other page has an issue where some or all of the text is missing and images that should be transparent are not or are missing as well.  Actually, the first two pages in my current document are OK, the rest, every other page is missing text, images, has non-transparent images that should be transparent... The font I am using is Avenir and the imaages are .png created in PS. The images are in the master.
WHY is this happening? What do I need to do to fix?
Thanks in advance for your assistance. I am a mostly self-taught ID user since version 1, just getting back into using it after a long break.

OK, sorry, yes, it looks the same in Acrobat as it does in Preview as it does when placed into ID.
I was able to save as a non-current version of PDF (Acrobat 4) and it shows correctly. (???) What am I missing, here? I mean, I have a work around, but?
So the original PDF is bad, rather than there being a problem with the file after placing. That implicates the original document, and since Acrobat 4 compatibility works it's probably either a transparency or layer issue.
Try trashin g your prefs and export again and see if it works. See Replace Your Preferences

  • Exporting pdf "acrobat distiller printer description not found" ERROR!

I just upgraded my g4 to tiger and I am running quark 5 on it. I can no longer export pdfs. I get an error saying "acrobat distiller printer description not found." I am stumped and I NEED to get this working!!
Anybody who knows how to fix this please let me know!
    Thanks

You may need to re-install Adobe Acrobat Pro, assuming you need the functionality of Acrobat to create PDFs. To create simple PDF's there is a PDF menu on every print dialog box that does not require the Distiller printer description file.

  • Problems exporting PDF to PowerPoint

Hi All, i'm new to this but have an issue I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. I have created a file in InDesign CC 2014 and have exported that file to a PDF using the High Quality Print preset. So far no problems. However when I export the file from Acrobat XI to PowerPoint I am getting a lot of white lines where PowerPoint is struggling to deal with transparency. I have already flattened the image in Acrobat but I just cant get rid of the white lines. Any ideas?

Are the new files you've added from the Export Pack inherited the permissions from the parent folder (the OrgChart folder)?
For PDF is this occurring with just orgunits showing and with orgunits and positions showing?
For PowerPoint, have you enabled ActiveX in the browser settings?
For both, have you selected the Print background colours option in the browser Advanced settings?

  • Problem export pdf table to excel spreadsheed

    Hi, my name is Marco.
Last month a customer has bought a copy of Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 in my computer shop for edit some pdfs files.
After some days he told me that he need to export a table to excel's spreadsheet but the function "open table in excel spreadsheet" work ONLY for the page where i right-click. How can i copy all the document in excel (without lose the format)?
Sorry for the bad english, if you don't understand i try to rewrite it better or in Italian!
    Thank you!

A lot depends on the structure of the PDF. I it has tags included that provide the format information, then the conversion may be easy. If the tags are not included, then retaining the format is almost impossible. This may even be a problem with recognizing columns. In that case, selecting columns with the ctrl key held during the selection. More information is available under "Copying Text" in the help menu (complete help). The help also talks about the ability to retain format as I have suggested.
To select items on multiple pages, you have to use continuous view.
It might be easier to the Save As to DOC and go from there. The backward conversion is not the forte or intent of Acrobat. In reality, one should never delete the original XLS (or other) file with the intent of going back in the future. Sounds like it is too late for your customer.

  • Problems exporting PDF to Word

I went to https://exportpdf.acrobat.com/app.html and followed the steps to convert however after many attempts I kept receiving the message .... failed to export, there was an unexpected problem. After reading the forums I also tried unchecking the recognise scanned text box to see if that would work.
After purchasing your subscription and it being unsuccessful I tried converting the file with another program available on the web, just to check there wasn't something wrong with the file ..... it worked.  However because I won't pay the subscription I only got the first 6 pages ;(
The file in question is 58MB would this be the problem?

David, thank you for taking the time to look into this for me.
The document is a resource pack for a teacher so it has lots of labels, ready made signs for the classroom eg. days of the week.  There are not a lot of pictures in the document.

  • Problem exporting .pdf to ANY OTHER FORMAT - is it me?!

    Hello,
The seasoned tech person will surely roll their eyes a dozen times while reading about my odyssey...
It started as a project in Pagemaker 7 (I know, I know - I'll definitely be moving to InDesign CS4 after this!). I exported the .pmd file into .pdf and sent the .pdf to a committee for review. When the edits came back, I planned to open my PageMaker files and edit them, then reexport. Well, wouldn't you know I HAVE NO IDEA where I put the most recently edited .pmd files. This is nuts - as I am pretty religious about saving/backing up to at least one device other than my PC. (Note: I checked the last time I sent the draft out and it was 5:15pm on a Thursday, so I must have been in a mad dash to get to happy hour and just got careless...My fault.) Anyway, so now I am stuck with a stupid .pdf and OLD .pmd files.
So, my questions are as follows:
    1. There is no way I can convert a .pdf into a .pmd file is there? I've looked into this and it really doesn't seem so.  Would it then be possible to convert a .pdf into an InDesign file?  Probably not, huh?
    2. Ok, so seeing how I am probably stuck with the .pdf - - I thought I might be able to export it as an .rtf so I could copy and paste the most recent text into my .pmd file so I don't have to do a ton of re-edits.  Brilliant, I thought. You've found a solution!  Um, not so much...
Now I can't export the .pdf as ANYTHING - .rtf, .html, .txt, .doc - - - it all turns into symbols. It tells me that Frankin Gothic Book can't be found and then it lists several numbers after the font (eg: Franklin Gothic Book 11,15,23, etc, etc...).
But I have that font installed on all the programs I use! What is going on! Can anyone help me??
    Thanks so much!
    kate

    Hi! Thanks for your answer!
    Well...
    1. If it were up to me I'd just keep it in the editing software until a final product was ready but I had to send .pdf versions out to people who don't use PageMaker. It was just my own haste that probably led me to send the .pdf out (after 5pm), shut down my PC asap and run off to the bar (or at least that's how I imagine it happened...).  As a rule I back EVERYTHING up to my external or a thumb drive ALWAYS. Evidently not anymore.  Or maybe I just fail to back up the IMPORTANT documents. Arrrgh.
    2. And yes, I checked my work PC, both laptops, my flash drive and external thoroughly and could not find it. I was able to see, in the "Recent Documents' option under the 'File' tab in PageMaker (both at work and on my laptop, weird..) that I had used the files there but when I thought, "OMG YES!!!" and clicked on it, it replied that the file could not be found.
So yeah... Meanwhile, I've found what I hope is a way around my conundrum.  Unable to export the .pdf to .doc or .rtf so I can cut and paste that version into an older version of the .pmd files I've LOST (Franklin Gothic is acting like a JERK... not sure what's going on there...) I downloaded a free .pdf to .rtf converter that didn't have a problem with it.
And so I spend a beautiful afternoon cloistered inside, fixing my stupid mistakes.
Thanks so much for your insights - I really appreciate your help!
    Thanks!

  • Color problems exporting pdfs

I just recently upgraded to Windows Vista and I am running Adobe CS3 which I just installed. When I export a pdf or save as a pdf from any of the CS3 programs the colors of my images look like they are faded back as if a screened white box is on top of the image. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to stop this from happening? Thanks!

Thanks, Masden and Larry. As a very busy designer who works alone (so no IT to call on) I do find it frustrating when software changes significantly and explanations are not readily available in the booklet or Help files.
After testing in Reader 6 and 8 I have learned that the simulated preview I see in Acrobat 8 Pro is not the preview my clients see. This is new in CS3. Previous to that, my preview was likely sRGB or, had I set my setting to it, Adobe 1998. Why do I need to see the simulation? It has no bearing on output in the sense that, while my settings (General purpose 2 usually, and always SWOP v2) are meant to embed this generic profile to compensate for gain on the press, seeing that on screen is disconcerting. I would prefer to view the way the final job should look when printing, and from what I can see, there is no way to actually set the output simulation preview as the default preview, at least not without changing the very profile of the pdf itself (say, to Adobe 1998).
I have a calibrated Apple monitor and a Mac Pro. I expect, from my system, a fairly WYSIWIG work flow and generally am not disappointed. My files go to press pretty seamlessly. I think this more complicated preview system in Acrobat 8 is totally unnecessary and confusing.

  • Problems exporting pdfs in CS2

Hi everyone. I just started at a new company a few weeks ago and took over a computer from the previous person. My work computer is a PC running Windows XP, 3 GB Ram, running InDesign CS2. When exporting an InDesign document to a PDF, it will sometimes create 2 PDF's; one pdf that is the name I typed and another one where it has the first few letters and a ~ at the end. The pdf that I named will be a blank pdf file, 0KB in size, and adobe reader will give me an error. The other pdf will open just fine but have an odd name(for example, instead of greatwork.pdf, it will be grea~.pdf). Does anyone know what could be causing this? I checked for updates(even though its a few versions behind) and there weren't any available. What should I do? I asked for newer software and hardware but it's out of the question for now. Thanks for any help!

StixHart, the only time I notice that it doesn't happen is when I name a document with a few numbers like 12345.pdf. I have tried clicking the "View PDF after Exporting" button and the problem still occurs where it saves 2 PDF's.
Peter, I have tried saving them to both my local hard drive and a network with the same results.
Is there a file I can delete/check? My work computer also has anti virus software and it shows that the machine is clean.

  • Problems exporting pdf from indesign CS4

when I export a pdf using flattening the pdf contains lines (1 pixel) that contain 1-2% more black. The image used in the file (see below) is a transparant psd on a gradient.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
    Thank you
    Jeroen

Just because a printer demands flattened transparency in PDF files they accept, doesn't mean that it is proper practice. Flattened transparency and lack of full color management requires what is effectively a highly device dependent PDF file where you know exactly what the device's color space and resolution are at the time you perform the transparency flattening. As far as we are concerned, any print service provider that refuses a properly created PDF file with live transparency and color management is a print provider, where the word service is definitely not appropriate. Such printers would rather blame you, the customer, for problems as opposed to using their professional skills and provide service to you.
Although Adobe is a vendor member of the Ghent PDF Workgroup (in fact, I am Adobe's representative to that group), Adobe does not endorse use of its PDF/X Plus standards and settings until such time such standards and settings are based on PDF/X-4. Such a change is supposed to occur within the next year.
In terms of the actual artifacts you are seeing, do the same artifacts show when you print to a local PostScript printer?
What do you see and how does it print if you export using the PDF/X-4 settings?
And finally, to respond to Peter Spier's comment, I highly doubt that TIFF or PSD would make any difference in theory (although I have learned that you can't always count on theory ).

  • Problems Exporting PDF as Postscript in Pages

    Hello everyone,
After an exhausting search online I turn to this community as a last resort to solve my problem.
In a nutshell, I've been trying to export my nice, crisp Pages-formatted document to share with my clients as a PDF. As I've quickly realized, when I export it directly through Pages the end result is grainy and the images lose their appeal, therefore defeating the entire purpose of using Pages to create this.
Well I discovered that if I export as Postscript, it maintains all my formatting but when I try to convert it to a PDF it then screws around with my page layout and I cannot get it to fit into my previous A3 layout in landscape format.
When I select print it gives me a nice layout as in the preview window. I select PDF and save as postscript to maintain the formatting.
But once it's exported to PDF, the quality is the same but my page layout is all screwed up
    http://imgur.com/Y0CYn  <---- See here
Ive checked in Pages to ensure that my page size and layout is correct, my printer is set to A3 paper....what am I overlooking??
How can I make it so when I export a Pages document to PDF it looks the same as I created it in Pages? Is that too much to ask????

    Hi Peter,
First off, thanks for your help & follow up.
I guess I'm having trouble actually installing the abracadabra Automator script. I downloaded it, unzipped it and attempted to open it in Automator and received the following errors.
From there, I thought it may have been installed. But I'm still having some problems. According to the site the next should be " save it as a module via the menu File > Save as module > Finder module . It will then be available by right-clicking on any icon Finder via the sub-menu> Automator > PDF-Assembler ."
Forgive me for my cluelessness, but I'm not sure where to go from here.

  • I have a problem exporting from Acrobat Pro on OS X 10.10

I'm trying to export a PDF to Word, and am getting an error message saying "Save As failed to process this document. No file was created". This happens with all files in Acrobat. This has only started to happen since I upgraded to OS X Yosemite. I would appreciate any help with this, as this is a critical issue for us.

    Hey LoveWYD,
Please try saving the word file to a different location and check.
Also, let me know is this a scanned document? Which Adobe Acrobat are you using?
As it is happening with all PDF files, you might also try repairing Acrobat from the Help menu.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Issues exporting pdf (acrobat 9 Pro) to docx (MS Word 2007)

recently upgraded to 9 Pro (32bit) - ok I'll admit I'm a little slow on the upgrade - in an XP Pro SP3 (32bit) OS
I created a PDF from a web page:   Create from web page>HTML.  I  then tried to export to docx.  I ended up with a mishmash of word boxes overlaying each other (EXPORT > Word Document > Settings > Retain Page Layout > OK etc. )
I repeated this with a "normal" pdf - not one created from a web page but with the same result.
    Any ideas??

A PDF may not convert wll to DOC if the sense that you are using it since there is not any layout info in the PDF. You may likely have a bunch of boxes and such that are then converting to WORD in a way you do not like. There is even a question as to what the default page size is of the PDF that you are using.
Have you tried printing to the Adobe PDF printer from your browser? This process will not include the links and such, but if you goal is to convert to DOC then those would not go anyway.

  • Problem exporting PDF document

I have a form implemented as a PDF form and would like to add a workflow step to my process so that the PDF form can be sent as an email attachment. Based on a previous posting, it seems that I need to use the RepositoryServices Read Resource Content operation to get the PDF form from the repository and add it to a process variable of type document. When I do this I get an type coercian error that states: "Cannot coerce object: com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.form.impl.xfa.XFARRepositoryFormInstance@15bb014 of type com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.form.impl.xfa.XFARRepositoryFormInstance to type class.lang.Boolean
I'm setting the Input Resource Uri to the literal value "/BDI_DEV/forms_BDI REP Form.pdf" and the Output variable to a varaible of type document - which as far as I can tell from the documentation should be correct. For some reason, however, the error message seems to indicate that the system is attempting to store the repository object in a boolean - I do have a process variable of type boolean, but the output variable I've selected is of type document.

"WorkflowUser" was finally able to help me resolve the problem with creating a PDF document that can be saved to file or mailed to somebody - here's how he told be to configure things to get this working:
    1. I created a process variable called XMLData of type xml.
    2. I created a process variable called XMLDataDoc of type document.
    3. I created a process variable called RenderedForm of type document.
    4. I added a SetValue service step in which the following mappings were created:
    - /process_data/XMLData is set to /process_data/REPForm/object/data/xdp
    - /process_data/@XMLDataDoc is set to /process_data/XMLData
    5. I added a renderPDFForm step using the FormsService. In this the following input and output parameters were configured:
    - "Form to Render" was set to a literal value referencing the form template - i.e. BDI_DEV/forms/BDI REP Form.pdf
    - "Form Data" was set to the XMLDataDoc variable.
    - The "Content Root URI" field under "URL Options" was set to "repository:/
    - The "Rendered Form" output section was set to reference the variable "RenderedForm".
This then allowed me to email the document using the RenderedForm variable.
