Problem exporting RAW files from Photos

Previously when using iphoto when exporting images I was given the option of exporting the orrigional RAW image as well as the edited now jpg.
With Photos I am ot given this option and can only export the edited jpg and can not even find the master file though Photos says the image I am viewing is the
RAW file.

  • Export RAW files from iPad to NAS

    Hello everyone,
I've been a while wondering if it is possible to quit personal computers for my Photo Workflow, that involves RAW file formats. The ideal workflow should be like this:
    Take a photo in RAW+JPEG.
Import the photo in an iPad Air 2 with iOS 8 via SD Card Adapter.
Work with the image with the existing RAW editing apps, Like Photogene 4 or SnapSeed.
Save the original RAW and edited stuff in a Synology NAS.
The problem is the fourth step. It's impossible for me to extract them intact from iPad to NAS. I had recently a false positive when I found FileBrowser, which is a Finder-like app that let's you take RAWs from an album and copy to a network storage. BUT surprise! The filesize of that files is EXACTLY the same of the JPGs, around 2,5 MB, so these .CR2 files have been altered.
¿Is there some way to export RAW files from an iPad?

The following claims to transfer RAW. Not sure that it will work in the circumstance you describe but may be something to check out: http://www.photosync-app.com/photosync/en/features.html#cluster_1

  • How can I locate the original .CR2 /  Raw file from Photos in finder?

How can I locate the original .CR2 /  RAW file from Photos in the finder window? I would like to know a easier way to open my files and use them in Photoshop than having to go to the Pictures folder, right clicking "show packaged contents", and manually searching for my CR2's / RAW's. It is also ridiculous to have to export the RAW file to my desktop, and then take it into Photoshop or another photo editing program.  I was able to do this in iPhoto and find I cannot do so in Photos. Please help? Can you please consider adding a right click function that says "Show Original file in Finder". That would make it so much easier and better for those of us who want a simple way to access the original files and use them in other editing programs. At least with iPhoto you could go to the top menu / preferences and find your items.

http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html is the place for feature requests and feedback
Rather than use the 'Show package Contents route, the supported and safer way is to export the unmodfied original.

  • Problem inporting raw files from my Nikon D3200

i have problems importing raw files from my Nikon D3200, i have tried some of the suggestions such as
removing the RawCamera.bundle and RawCameraSupport.bundle from the System Library and downloading a newer version (OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support)
The problem is  --  the latest RAW Compatibility Update version for Yosemite 6.02 appears to be the one I currently am using (in my System Folder).
In that same article referenced above, my Nikon D800 is listed in an earlier version simply titled "Supported by Yosemite 10.10".
This had some success but is not working after trying it several times, i am currently on version  OSX Yosemite 10.10.1 and the version of iphoto is 9.6
any help would be greatly received as i only shoot in Raw

Remove the RawCamera.bundle and RawCameraSupport.bundle again and update the system to 10.10.2 via the App Store.  That contains the bundles that will support that camera: OS X Yosemite: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support.  The 6.01 and 6.02 updates are not needed for that camera. Be sure to repair disk permissions after the update.
As usual be sure you have a backup of your hard drive before applying any such update.

  • Problems loading RAW files from Canon 6D in Elements 10

Elements 10 - Windows: I have been using the software for a couple of years and never had a problem loading RAW files from my Canon T2i ir 60D, however I just purchased a Canon 6D and when I try to load a RAW from the 6D I get Cannot open 'C:\User...CR2' because it is the wrong type of file.  I thought cameraraw 6.5 patch would be the fix but when trying to install I get "Error loading Updater workflow"

Will the DNG files perform the same, meaning will I retain all the information that makes RAW important for processing?
Yes. That's why DNGs were invented. Adobe has put a lot of work into the DNG format for this very reason.
Raw files are proprietary and manufacturer specific. Raw formats change with every make and model of camera. Software must be updated for the new Raw format of every single camera. Adobe does an admirable job of upgrading Camera Raw for every new camera.
DNG is also a Raw format but it's open source and works in any software which can read the DNG format. If camera manufacturers used the DNG format instead of their own Raw format, you would not have to upgrade Elements 10. But they don't, and probably never will, so you must upgrade the Camera Raw plugin (and therefore Elements 10 since it's not compatible with the new Camera Raw) to read the new Raw format from the 6D or add another step to your workflow with conversion to DNG first.

problems loading raw files from Nikon D750 to lightroom4. Any thoughts?

This is a recently produced model so raw support was only added in LR 5.7 / ACR 8.7, updates to LR 4 ceased about two years ago when LR 5 was issued.
Options a.) Upgrade to LR 5.
b.) Utilize the latest Adobe DNG Converter 8.8 to convert the nef files to dng format then you will be able to import the dng files into LR 4.

  • Problems with RAW files from Nikon D4

At the moment I'm using LR 4.1 rc and PS CS 6 beta. I tried to send a D4 raw file from LR to PS, but PS didn't open it.
The next thing I tried was to open D4 raws directly with PS CS 6, no success either.
The raw files from my D200 aren't any problem.
So is there knowledge wether PS CS 6 is supporting Nikon D4 RAWs or not? If it should be supported, what could be my problem?
    Thx in advance
    Dominik

See this link for full details on camera support in Camera Raw versions:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/03/raw-support-in-lightroom-and-camera-raw.ht ml
    Snip taken from link above:
You’ll also note that ACR7, available with Photoshop CS6 beta, is lagging the most in updated camera support.  This is based on when we lock down or “bake” the code for each release.   Even though ACR7 was only released last week it was “baked” before Lightroom 4.0 and Camera Raw 6.7.  Similarly, Lightroom 4.0 was finalized before Camera Raw 6.7.  We’ll get Lightroom and Camera Raw in sync soon but in the interim, here’s the latest incremental support list for each product, relative to Camera Raw 6.6 and Lightroom 3.6:
    Photoshop CS6 beta with ACR7
    Canon PowerShot S100V
    Fuji FinePix X-S1
    NOTE:
ACR7.1 will have the superset of all currently supported cameras in ACR6.7 and LR4.1 plus a few extras.

  • Problems emptying RAW files from Recycle Bin

    Hi
I am not sure, but think my problem is connected with Lightroom 1.4.1
When I delete RAW files from disc via Lightroom, they go into the Recycle Bin. However, I am unable to delete them from the bin without using an unlocker program. This is because when I choose to delete individual RAW files from the bin (or choose completely empty bin)I get a message saying that file Dq(number) cannot be deleted as it may be in use by another program. But no other program is open.
I think this only applies to RAW files (Canon CR2) where I have created an editable file in Photoshop CS3. I am fed up with the tedious task of removing each individual Dq/CR2 file from the Recycle bin (the unlocker program will not let me batch delete) and suspect a workaround involving removing the CR2 files from the Lightroom catalogue and then deleting them from their source folder might work.
However, this semms a clumsy way of having to do thistask.
Has anyone else come across this please and does anyone have an elegant solution? Oh, the files concerned are all on an external hard disc, but I cannot see why this should affect things.

Hi, Andrew. I do not have an external HD, so I am not sure if this is related. LR 1.4's seems to do some odd things with files that it sees as Read Only, such as from a CD, DVD, or external drive. Maybe it has something to do with this. Also, can you exit LR, then dumb Recycle Bin normally?

  • Problems importing raw files from nikon d610

My lightroom 4.4 will not import raw files from my new nikon d610. I downloaded the converted but cannot get that to work either.
    Please help

    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The above link provides the full list of camera models supported by Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom. You will note that support for the Nikon D610 was introduced in Lightroom 5.3.
You have a couple of options
    a. Upgrade your version of Lightroom to version 5, the latest update is LR 5.4. This will provide support for your raw NEF files from your camera. (LR 4 will not have any further updates)
    b. Download the free Adobe DNG Converter version 8.4 and convert the NEF files to DNG format and you can then import the DNG files into Lightroom 4. (retain copies of your NEF files for use with the Nikon software or other software that may not read DNG files.)
Quote " I downloaded the converted but cannot get that to work either.
Please help" If you are referring  to the Adobe DNG Converter if is possible that if you used an older version of Nikon Software to transfer the files from your camera to the computer the files may have been rendered unreadable by Adobe Software.

  • Export RAW file from iPhoto to Aperture

I want to start using Aperture 2 for my photo editing, so I need to import a number of RAW photos that are currently stored in iPhoto. This seems like it should be a simple enough process, but the different methods I have attempted have only resulted in a JPG version of the photo being imported.
I have spent quite a bit of time perusing previous posts and haven't been able to find an answer, so any help or direction would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think there is any reason to export the photos from iPhoto first. Aperture can browse the iPhoto library and will allow you to drag and drop the original files.
    In Aperture:
    1. Pull down File > Show iPhoto Browser.
    2. Find the photos you want, highlight them by Shift+clicking several in a row or Command+clicking discontinuous photos. Make sure the extension on the file corresponds to the type of RAW file your camera shoots (.CR2 for Canon, .NEF for Nikon, etc).
    3. Drag and drop the selected files to the Library icon in the Projects list. This will create a new project called "Untitled Project" that contains your photos.

    Michael

  • Having a problem isolating RAW files from Jpegs into separate folders.

I have understood it to be that all file (photo) organization in Elements should be done in the Organizer.  However, I took over 500 shots in RAW + Jpeg, so now I want to place the RAW files in a separate folder so I can make thumbnails from the Jpegs to allow the subjects to select which photos they want copies of.  I will then work on those RAW files.  However, Organizer lists the files in filename order, so manually selecting the CR2 files would be a pain in the butt.  Is there a way in Organizer to sort by size or sort by file extension ... anything other than filename?  Can files be directed to individual folders when first downloaded?  If I sort the files in Windows Explorer and move them, does that mess up the cataloging in Organizer?

    Big-Al-Photoman wrote:
A --- "Find > by Filename" ?  That is the default, and already shows in this sequence.  Filename creates a sequence of CR2, Jpeg, XMP, CR2, Jpeg, XMP, CR2, Jpeg, XPM, etc. etc.
Clearly, you haven't understood properly. It is not a default. I am referring to a menu option. You go to the Find menu in the PSE organizer, then select "by Filename" and then type in CR2 and press ENTER.
B --- again, not sure if Adobe just didn't understand the question or I am too dense to understand the answer.  I am going to reduce the size of the Jpeg files so I can upload them to an online gallery so the clients can view the shots taken.  I am obviously not going to upload the RAW files or the XPM (I assume the thumbnail created to allow the RAW file to be displayed in the viewfinder or on screen.)  I don't want to reduce the size of the originals (obviously), so I can use the "Process Multiple Files" in Elements to copy the Jpegs and make smaller copies for upload.  I DO NOT want to have to hold the CTRL key down while I select 250 individual Jpeg files manually since that is the ONLY option in the sort sequence they appear in currently.  If Adobe provided the ability to sort the files in a folder "by size" or "by extension", then I could easily deal with only the Jpegs, but in their infinite wisdom, Adobe neglected to include the ability to handle files by this logical method.  So my only option appears to be to create a new folder and put the CR2 (and XPM) files in the new folder until I am ready to post-process the files chosen by my client.
Obviously, you didn't understand. If you want to reduce the size of your JPGs and then upload, you select the JPGs by Find > by Filename, so then yout have all the JPGs found; and then Ctrl-A to select them all, and then create the reduced size photos via File->Export->As New File. (Of course, you can also do this to the RAWs as well, resulting in a reduced size JPG -- and then you don't even need the original JPGs)
The point of my inquiry was to find out if Adobe DID provide a way to dealing with a large number of files in a logical and efficient manner, and the response above doesn't really tell me that they did. My assumption from the above response is that Adobe did NOT provide an efficient method of isolating files by type or size.
The efficient way of doing this has been explained, and does exist in PSE.
Or am I just too dense to understand an easy, quick solution to dealing with ONLY the Jpegs, resizing them for quick and view-only upload to a gallery, and retaining the integrity of the Elements organizer.???????

  • Problems loading RAW files from Canon EOS 70D

I've recently changed my camera from an EOS 500D to a 70D and now find that I can't open the RAW files even though my Photoshop says it's up-to-date when queried through Creative Cloud.  However, when I check the Camera RAW version used in PhotoShopCC 2014 it's 8.0.0.137.  I tried to find and download the recommended version 8.2 but all that gave me was provide me with a DNG converter, which didn't help.  I contacted Adobe chat line but part-way through lost the connection and I can't re-establish it again to complete the process their operative was taking me through.
Has anyone got any ideas about how to fix this?  By the way the files open fine in Lightroom 5.5.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, that was kind of you.
I managed to solve the problem by going to Adobe Labs and downloading and installing a beta version of Camera RAW 8.6, it works a treat.
